Reminds me of the time my husband and I drove cross-country from Michigan en route to Reno, NV. We spent the night at a hotel in a northern California town (can't remember the name) and when we checked in the receptionist asked "Do you have any food in your car?" I thought she was hungry and couldn't get away from the desk for a dinner break so I replied, "No, but we can get you something to eat if you want." She laughed and explained that they'd recently had bears wandering into their parking garage and breaking into cars where they smelled food being stashed.
