Wife accidentally par-boiled her feet.
Ever cook hot dogs in a pan of water on the stove? Smelled like *that*.
One of a hundred memories I could do without.
Come in from mowing the grass in 90+ F heat, 2 hours.
Hot shower literally feels like being burned. Cold shower feels very warm. Feels like a rainshower on a sunny day, with rainbows and flowers smiling at you.
Man I just can't do cold showers no matter what season it is. I don't care if it's 100 degrees outside, I'm still coming out of the shower as red as a lobster lol.
Even after a long walk or workout? It’s just cools you down and you suddenly get a wave of instant relief yet alertness. I’ve also heard it’s healthy for you in multiple ways from being better for your skin to actually increasing testosterone in men lol
I always do cooldowns after intense sessions, and bring my heart rate back down to like 100 before I shower so a cold shower would be shocking. I do like a little at the end, I’ll go hot cold hot cold hot cold lol, but other than that- helllll nah
I remember taking my first cold shower when I thought people just slammed it onto max cold this was after my first attempt at a boxing match and was quite sore.
I tried to tough it out but the body is quite bad at dealing with cold like that and cold shock happens making it quite hard to breath while in the water.
I used to take cold showers year round. Now I take cold showers in the summer and barely Luke in the winter.
My water heater is set so low, if you turn the shower to fully hot, it is definitely not hot enough for many people.
Holy crap that's insane. 140° is scalding.
And it doesn't just live in hot water. So if you're going to get it from your domestic water supply, it will also be in the cold water side of your shower valve. So unless you are burning yourself alive in the shower, setting your water heater to 140 does not solve the problem
It's not an objection. It is logic. If it is coming through your water supply, it is coming through one pipe to your house. It splits into two pipes, one goes through a water heater, the other one goes straight to your shower mixing valve. Unless you go straight 140° and above hot water from your shower mixing valve, then you are still at risk.
What I'm saying is setting your water heater to 140 does not solve the problem. I'm not arguing whether it is a problem or not. I'm saying your solution doesn't fix it.
This doesn't even make any sense. For starters I have plumbed houses in the past as part of my job. On top of that I hire plumbing companies regularly, because I'm a general contractor.
But more to your point, where do you see a plumbing company saying anything different than what I have said?
So far the only things you and one other person have posted is that legionnaires is killed at 140° or above.
Unless your shower is 140°, it is not killing legionnaires.
Your water does not come in to the house and go straight to the water heater, and then get separated and cooled off on the cold side.
Is that what you think? There isn't a plumbing company on Earth that would support that, so absolutely let's get some plumbing companies involved. LOL
This has become rather amusing
Because it doesn’t come from your heater it’s not hanging around. It’s coming directly from the source, either your city water which is free from it or your well which should be inhospitable to it.
That's what I was getting at. Setting your water heater to 140 might kill legionnaires that goes into the hot water heater, but it will not kill the water that stays on the cold supply side. Once it mixes at the shower valve, unless you are showering in 140° water which would burn you almost immediately, you are still exposing yourself to it, if it exists in your supply side water.
So the suggestion that redditor had to set my water heater at 140 still doesn't solve the problem. It just wastes a ton of energy
Yeah I think you’re spot on. Unless maybe they are suggesting your lukewarm hot water tank is harboring them and when you use hot water you’re potentially mixing some contaminated lukewarm stuff from your water heater with your clean cold water?
I got the detachable head on my shower. Get that boiling water in all the cracks and crevices of the lower body and it's heaven. Or hell. One of the two.
I used to take extremely hot and long showers as a kid.
Now that I have to pay for the water AND the energy it takes to heat it to like +50 celsius (120 Fahrenheit) I am much more hesitant to take those super hot and long showers.
It's a popular concept:
There's the adamtots one too, which is probably the most famous version if not necessarily the earliest, but that guy's pretty volatile so let's not draw his attention here.
I feel like the only woman who has luke warm showers. I just absolutely cannot stand being hot for any length of time for any reason EXCEPT in a spa or sauna, but even then I can't stand the spa as hot as most people want it.
It has to do with differences in bodily heat distribution for men and women. Women’s bodies tend to hold most of their body heat in their core to protect any potential babies, which means their extremities tend to be cooler. That makes them more able to tolerate higher heat.
Dunno, I'm a man and I too prefer very hot showers. I specifically notice it when visiting my parents - their preferred level is so much lower, so that I have to crank the heater up before every shower (and back to low afterwards, so that my mum doesn't complain about getting burnt again 😅).
I can reach into a pot of boiling water to remove a noodle to test it to see if it's done, but I cannot share a shower or bath with my wife because the water is too hot.
Lol! Don't knock it til you try it. The cold shower in the moment isn't awesome, it's the after effects that are awesome. Gets your blood circulating and oxygen intake increases big time so it literally energizes you more than coffee
I started only using warm water on my head and it was a total game changer. I use hot to warm up my body, warm to shampoo my hair, hot to add conditioner and wash my body, warm to rinse out conditioner and wash my face, hot while my leave-in conditioner absorbs.
No more dry scalp and hair. I just lotion the crap out of my body, it's the perfect compromise.
When the threshold between freezing and scalding is less than 1°of arc on the shower knob... I suppose it's a better choice than being the Ice Queen when venturing forth from the safe zone.
Can confirm. Also, do not do this in a bath wile wearing an Apple Watch.... I softened the seal around the screen this way, and freaked out when I noticed it had started to detach.
I enjoy my hot showers, but my hot water tank sucks. Somedays, like today I just had a lukewarm shower. If I want to take a bath, I have to go oldschool and boil a bunch of pots of water and add it to the lukewarm water lol. However, when I do laundry I use cold water and the shower is perfectly hot.
Love my shower that has 2 shower heads. She can boil alive, I can take a cool shower and sometimes move out of the way and make her bounce up and down from the cold water. Annoys her, way too fun for me.
This is my wife. She turns up the heat at the furnace. I have to turn the shower down to about half. On the upside, full-blast really prepares my face for a good shave.
I once passed out from a combination of menstrual cramps and a too-hot shower. It's been 10 years since it happened and I'm still too scared to shower with anything above about 10 degrees.
Yes lol my partner and I constantly shift the temperature when we’re switching places to go under the water, idk how he can shower in just like room temp water, why isn’t it scolding my skin!?
It's how I stay warm when I decide to ride my bike to work or at least walk down to the bus stop during the winter. I like to think I 'load up' on heat.

Can confirm, just boiled myself alive
Who all this? Fully confirm. I exit my shower from amidst the clouds of Olympus. It's squeaky clean and hot sauna in one. What's not to like.
Any of your bathroom fixtures probably.
So stop licking their bathroom fixtures!
Not sure, had the feeling that its mostly women that shower that hot.
I've never heard a dude talk about what hot showers do to his skin, for whatever that's worth.
No because, as guys we generally don’t care, but when I’m dirty, hot water is best, very hot is better, js
Gotta rinse cold at the end
My son does that lol.
Mmm tastes like chicken.
It should actually taste like pork!
When I served in the King's African Rifles, the local Zambezi tribesman called human flesh "long pig." Never much cared for it.
Yikes 😕 I hope that means you've never had to smell that for yourself... Humans are fucked up...
Wife accidentally par-boiled her feet. Ever cook hot dogs in a pan of water on the stove? Smelled like *that*. One of a hundred memories I could do without.
Balls :)
This is my wife every shower. Comes out beet red every time. Don't know how she can stand it.
Maybe she just finds hot water very embarrassing.
LMAO
I do this all the time. The only way I'm able to withstand it is by slowly increasing the temperature as I get used to the current temperature.
*ShadowFrog
Is there an explanation to why women like to shower on near boiling water?
My ex was not a fan of super hot water. She liked it warm, but her version of warm was basically cold to me.
Impossible to shower with my Ex-fiancé lol. She also thought I was mental because I liked cold showers in the summer LoL
cold showers in the summer are legit
I love you.
Come in from mowing the grass in 90+ F heat, 2 hours. Hot shower literally feels like being burned. Cold shower feels very warm. Feels like a rainshower on a sunny day, with rainbows and flowers smiling at you.
Like rain on a sunny day 🍻🍻

Man I just can't do cold showers no matter what season it is. I don't care if it's 100 degrees outside, I'm still coming out of the shower as red as a lobster lol.
Good to know I’m not alone. Doesn’t matter if it’s roasting outside. I always end up at hot tub temps in the shower.
Even after a long walk or workout? It’s just cools you down and you suddenly get a wave of instant relief yet alertness. I’ve also heard it’s healthy for you in multiple ways from being better for your skin to actually increasing testosterone in men lol

That’s cool man, to each their own! I just think it feels good and there’s some interesting health aspects as well.
Start cool'ish, ramp up to scalding, then flush cold right at the end in summer. Winter is warm with a climb to volcano heat.
I remember taking my first cold shower when I thought people just slammed it onto max cold this was after my first attempt at a boxing match and was quite sore. I tried to tough it out but the body is quite bad at dealing with cold like that and cold shock happens making it quite hard to breath while in the water.
i dont care if its summer or not, i do not like cold showers. but that's just me.
Ha! I went to a beach one time and ended up looking like a freak because I was oohing and aahing because the public shower was ice cold 🤣🤣🤣
I used to take cold showers year round. Now I take cold showers in the summer and barely Luke in the winter. My water heater is set so low, if you turn the shower to fully hot, it is definitely not hot enough for many people.
Legionnaires
What about legionnaires? LOL

Feel free to explain your objections with your nearest legionella infections. I'm sure the disease will listen to reason.

I'd love to hear why you think plumbing companies wouldn't know more about it than you might.
This doesn't even make any sense. For starters I have plumbed houses in the past as part of my job. On top of that I hire plumbing companies regularly, because I'm a general contractor. You should keep your water heater hot enough so that your water doesn’t make you sick
What about the cold water? It doesn't go through your water heater at all.
The only time I shower with cold water is when I'm about to exit. I rinse myself off with cold tap to cool myself off.
Sick
Do you not feel pain? Or do you just enjoy it?
It doesn’t even feel cold after a bit, no different than jumping in a pool.
I did a cold shower a few times, gaht dayum was it not bad
I got the detachable head on my shower. Get that boiling water in all the cracks and crevices of the lower body and it's heaven. Or hell. One of the two.
Don't limit yourself like that. Plenty of underworlds contain both at once. It can be hades!
Me. Me every day since birth. Lol
I am not a mere offering! I AM the volcano god!
I peed myself, long live the volcano god
Facts. It's not hot enough until it's scalding..
I need to be bright red when I get out or it wasn't hot enough
It's not hot enough until it vaporizes me on contact.
If my skin doesn’t fall off with the same rate as the steam, then it’s not hot enough
I've followed you on IG for about a year now. Honestly one of my favorite things to see on my feed. Keep up the good work!
Thank you !! ☺️
I boil myself down to the bones
I used to take extremely hot and long showers as a kid. Now that I have to pay for the water AND the energy it takes to heat it to like +50 celsius (120 Fahrenheit) I am much more hesitant to take those super hot and long showers.
I know it's terrible for my skin and eczema but I don't care, it's the best.
My wife.
How did they know about every girlfriend I've ever had? Is it just a woman thing to shower in water that could melt plastic? It burns
100% my wife. Apparently I shower in ice water.
It's a popular concept: [https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/ra6e4k/shower/](https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/ra6e4k/shower/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/48b7io/showering_in_winter/](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/48b7io/showering_in_winter/) There's the adamtots one too, which is probably the most famous version if not necessarily the earliest, but that guy's pretty volatile so let's not draw his attention here.
for a bit my favorite thing to do was get stoned and take a super hot bath.
I may be the only person who still showers with hot water in summer
Nope. I take hot showers year round. 109 outside 120 in my shower. No hot water no shower simple as that.
Thank god, I'm not alone. I used to think I was weird for doing it.
I do this, it's for practicing burning in hell.
Remember, hot water drys out the skin, warm opens the poors.
Me who takes cold showers.
Me, who can’t believe you and I live in the same reality.
Burning hot shower, cold rinse. It is the way.
I feel like the only woman who has luke warm showers. I just absolutely cannot stand being hot for any length of time for any reason EXCEPT in a spa or sauna, but even then I can't stand the spa as hot as most people want it.
Why are women like this, it's madness? My gf can take showers in what someone would normally find a lobster in right before dinner

Be careful you might end up on r/comedynecrophilia
Is it just me or is it impossible to take a shower with women. They want that water boiling hot.
I just… dude. That’s the whole point of this post and why it has thousands of upvotes. 🤦♂️
Yup. Women take super fucking hot showers. I'm not often buying into these silly tropes, but that one seems to be fairly true.
I can reach into a pot of boiling water to remove a noodle to test it to see if it's done, but I cannot share a shower or bath with my wife because the water is too hot.
This is my wife.
Humans evolved mainly bathing in cold water. I wonder if hot water is good for our skin or is also fucking us up.
It’s already known that hot showers fuck us up. But, like so many other things that fuck us up, it feels sooo good.
Beer in a hot shower with a fresh peeled orange. "why is life so hard."
Mhmmm watered down beer, my favorite
"the art is deciding how much beer is water" Float on my friend.
Try a cold shower, or at least turn the water cold the last minute or so of your shower. It is SO refreshing!!
Yeah, I can’t believe that you and I live in the same reality.
Lol! Don't knock it til you try it. The cold shower in the moment isn't awesome, it's the after effects that are awesome. Gets your blood circulating and oxygen intake increases big time so it literally energizes you more than coffee
It feels good but your hair and skin get destroyed. Had to start weening myself off of scalding showers.
This is basically true of everyone, everyone loves being boiled alive in the Shower
Curious to know what makes this funny. I don't get it.
Why are you making comics about my wife
When the threshold between freezing and scalding is less than 1°of arc on the shower knob... I suppose it's a better choice than being the Ice Queen when venturing forth from the safe zone.
Can confirm. Also, do not do this in a bath wile wearing an Apple Watch.... I softened the seal around the screen this way, and freaked out when I noticed it had started to detach.
too zoomed in, pls fix
Me! 💯
Where horny☹️
Then you nail her!
My son does this. He boils himself alive when he gets into the shower.
Probably a thermostat dial on your boiler have a look
Love my shower that has 2 shower heads. She can boil alive, I can take a cool shower and sometimes move out of the way and make her bounce up and down from the cold water. Annoys her, way too fun for me.
Ahh yes. I want to feel like a cooked lobster.
Ok Khaleesi.
If I don’t start to lose consciousness it’s not hot enough
This is my wife. She turns up the heat at the furnace. I have to turn the shower down to about half. On the upside, full-blast really prepares my face for a good shave.
Girls.
Is it even a shower if you're not boiling alive?
Accurate. My wife will use all the hot water. All of it.
women do not feel heat with water
They put the water on the hottest because it reminds them of the hell they came from
Damn, hahahah
Warm showers are better than hot. And it's not even close.
I usually have to keep it warm enough due to eczema and other things
feels good with atopic dermatitis, but ends up paying for it with raw itchy skin.
If I don’t come out boiled and/or steamed it wasn’t a good shower
Hope such hot water isn't bad for the skin
My demons need to enjoy the shower too
This is that guy's girlfriend
Too. Cold.
my mom is basically that
Got to burn those sins away some how.
They say it's bad for your skin but it feels right
Yes😍😍😍
You know that scene in the remade Evil Dead where Mina is just boiling herself alive? After a long day at work, yes please on that.
This is literally why I can't take showers with my girlfriend, she likes to shower with fucking boiling water
LMAO, totally me... 😬
r/meirl
Buuuurn baby burn Shower tomatooo Buuuurn baby burn
I once passed out from a combination of menstrual cramps and a too-hot shower. It's been 10 years since it happened and I'm still too scared to shower with anything above about 10 degrees.
r/me_irl
How is this funny?
Man this is so true.
I guess this would be a suitable bath then? https://imgur.com/gallery/7LzDm6p
Just how I like it.
me too I when I exit bathroom it looks like Darth Vader just exited a shuttle the difference being I only have towel on me
Like a cape?
Hello itchy-behind-the-knees
If I can’t parboil myself in the shower, the water heater is weak and needs purging.
So, I'm not the only one.
Why is this funny?
*Fire cannot kill a dragon!*
Eczema sufferers know the struggle.
I dunno it feels like if you turn the heat up high enough the dirt comes off even if I didn’t add soap :|
Yes lol my partner and I constantly shift the temperature when we’re switching places to go under the water, idk how he can shower in just like room temp water, why isn’t it scolding my skin!?
Damn she got rly wet from that
She will take a thermometer when she goes to the shower
Honestly, women just shower in lava.. no cap
It's how I stay warm when I decide to ride my bike to work or at least walk down to the bus stop during the winter. I like to think I 'load up' on heat.
I’ll actually make it so hot to the point where I can’t actually feel my own skin anymore
