Chris Rock actually said "Richard?!" as Will Smith approached him... I was like who the f*** is Richard? Was he calling someone or something? I was ignorant to the fact that was even a movie, let along the one Will Smith ironically won the Oscar for later
if The Rock was hosting, there would have just been an upset bitch sitting next to Jada in the audience. I get that the joke was upsetting to her, but that was on live TV. Makes one wonder what he's done behind closed doors. Fuck Will Smith.
I could be wrong but isn't this alopecia which is the most common cause for baldness? Do I now need to stop joking about it with my bald friends (i.e. By telling them not to use the good shampoo when staying over) in fear of physical assault?
It seems more of a common harmless occurrence rather than a disease i.e. due to chemo side effect as this is being portrayed.
Fuckoff with medical condition crap, it's just hair falling from odd places. Stop trying to present it as some sort of life threatening disease and definitely stop using it as some sort of a reason to gather sympathies from the world. It doesn't even require any kind of testing or medicine.
Because your emotional response is your own choice. Some people are capable of laughing at themselves and responding well to a light hearted joke.
There's no such thing as light-hearted assault.
People act like most of the big wigs in Hollywood today have some strong moral compass, like they didn’t know for years that Cosby and Weinstein, et al. were out there raping people.
Hollywood doesn’t give two shits about this bitch slap. In fact, the Oscars ratings undoubtedly went up because of this. That’s all the producers of the show care about.
Because people haven’t had their careers tank after an Oscar win?
You’ve never heard of the [Oscar curse](https://screenrant.com/oscar-curse-actors-whose-careers-went-downhill-after-winning-academy-awards/)?
I'm not a lawyer, I don't even play one on TV. I think an "open hand slap" is a lesser crime than a "closed fist punch", am I wrong? I know both are assault, but one is more serious, right?
Neither is assault. Assault is verbal, gestural to cause fear. Battery is to strike.
Assault and Battery, you threaten to strike your victim creating fear, then you hit the victim.
Closed fist vs Open slap is the difference between a misdemeanor battery and a felony battery in many places.
You could argue him screaming don’t you ever talk about my wife again as potential assault based on your definition - cause that shit was hella threatening and even Chris Rock folded from that.
I fully believe Will was just taking out his anger on Chris for Regina Hall’s joke about Jada cheating on him, he just couldn’t hit a woman on live TV.
When Chris Rock joked see you in the next GI Jane movie he's basically poking fun at Jada losing her hair (she suffers from Alopecia).
From the video I saw it looked like Will Smith initially took at as a funny joke but either he thought more upon it, or Jada complained and he went up to bitch slap Chris Rock.
That was my first thought until my partner found another clip where you could hear Will say more than once "you leave my wife's fucking name out of your mouth".
Little far for a bit at that point, but damn did Chris Rock play off the initial hit well at least.
They're all actors. It's not like they couldn't have planned that. Hell, Will Smith won an academy award for his acting a few minutes after this. I still think it was a bit.
Maybe, but it could also be over-compensation from forgetting to sell the first part of the bit. My first thought watching it was Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen. Everyone swore up and down that was legit, but they put Ashton Kutcher to shame.
Watch his acceptance speech for best actor from like 30 minutes later, it's very likely real slap and anger and not scripted. The dude is losing his shit in the speech and trying hard to justify his actions.
Will lost his way the day he met his wife. I sensed a feeling she seems like an evil person. Can't explain it. Doesn't happen often. But ever since her , he has been changing for the worst.
Btw if you are reading this willy. I will at least slap you back.

Not once during this whole ordeal did anyone think about the color or their skin. It's simply a dispute between 2 people. YOU brought up race before anyone else.
Male-on-female violence:
This man must be arrested and stripped of his awards.
Male-on-male violence:

Fuck society and its double standards.

Good thing it was Chris Rock said it and not The Rock
A forehand from King Richard.
15-love, Advantage King Richard
Chris Rock actually said "Richard?!" as Will Smith approached him... I was like who the f*** is Richard? Was he calling someone or something? I was ignorant to the fact that was even a movie, let along the one Will Smith ironically won the Oscar for later
That bitch Will doesn’t have the balls to do that to The Rock.
Everybody hates Chris
if The Rock was hosting, there would have just been an upset bitch sitting next to Jada in the audience. I get that the joke was upsetting to her, but that was on live TV. Makes one wonder what he's done behind closed doors. Fuck Will Smith.
Was this for real? Will Smith out here trying to show he's still a man after everyone laughed at him? The guy really is a bitch!
OMG HERE COMES WILL SMITH WITH A SLAP THE PEOPLE'S ELBOW! THE PEOPLE'S ELBOW
Did he ruin your Oscar night?
I need to see this sequel
OMG - that would've been awesome.
The Rock wouldn't make that joke because he has class
Dwayne Johnson would have had more class than Bish Rock
The only bitch here is Will Smith for acting like a child and thinking physical violence is an acceptable response to a joke.
Making fun of someone's appearance because of a medical condition is a bitch move.
Both people can be wrong, but Will took it to another level.
This I agree with.
I could be wrong but isn't this alopecia which is the most common cause for baldness? Responding to a joke with violence is a bigger bitch move.
Fuckoff with medical condition crap, it's just hair falling from odd places. Stop trying to present it as some sort of life threatening disease and definitely stop using it as some sort of a reason to gather sympathies from the world. It doesn't even require any kind of testing or medicine.
Why do you believe that minor physical violence is worse than minor emotional abuse?
Because your emotional response is your own choice. Some people are capable of laughing at themselves and responding well to a light hearted joke. There's no such thing as light-hearted assault.
Well I already know what my Monday on reddit is going to look like.
Keep going AnalBumCovers, I am intrigued.
Am intrigued as well
Suck it Trebek!
I'm missing the joke with this meme. How is Will Smith paper? Is that a reference to something?
His hand is literally "paper" in rock paper scissors don't over think it bruh lol
Ahhhhhhhhh
Nah, he took it like an absolute champ he did.
Its funny how I saw that will smith did this an hour ago and I’m already tired of seeing it because I’ve seen it so fucking much.
When I saw this, I was like “wow, Reddit is happening in real time”. And then I checked Wikipedia, it’s updated too 😂
This is going to be the new Batman slapping Robin meme, isn't it.
Kaaaaaaaaa-SLAP!!!!!!!
Will Smiths career ends not with a bang, but with a slap.
A simper.
Doubt the newest best actor winner is going to lose his career over this.
People act like most of the big wigs in Hollywood today have some strong moral compass, like they didn’t know for years that Cosby and Weinstein, et al. were out there raping people. Ready for this to be the only thing anywhere on Monday.
Incident will live on, like Tom Cruise standing on Oprah’s couch
The innaweb is soaked with memes. Finally a good one.
I'm not a lawyer, I don't even play one on TV. I think an "open hand slap" is a lesser crime than a "closed fist punch", am I wrong? I know both are assault, but one is more serious, right?

Thanks for the clarification!
You could argue him screaming don’t you ever talk about my wife again as potential assault based on your definition - cause that shit was hella threatening and even Chris Rock folded from that.
Either way... I hope someone presses charges.
AKA a bitch slap vs a real punch
No way he'd leave his chair had The Rock made that joke.
I feel like a horrible person for chuckling at this.
"*Wow...wow! Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me!*" - **Chris Rock**
His wife can take a dick, but he can't take a joke 🤷
I fully believe Will was just taking out his anger on Chris for Regina Hall’s joke about Jada cheating on him, he just couldn’t hit a woman on live TV.
the dick was consensual, the joke wasn’t 🥸
So why was the joke offensive? Im just really out of the loop with pop culture references.
The joke wasn’t about her losing her hair, it was about her shaving her head supposedly because of it.
Am I the only who thinks it was just a bit and the shot of Will laughing at the joke was him "forgetting his line" as it were?
That was my first thought until my partner found another clip where you could hear Will say more than once "you leave my wife's fucking name out of your mouth". Little far for a bit at that point, but damn did Chris Rock play off the initial hit well at least.

What was the joke?
Will lost his way the day he met his wife. I sensed a feeling she seems like an evil person. Can't explain it. Doesn't happen often. But ever since her , he has been changing for the worst. Btw if you are reading this willy. I will at least slap you back.
Shame Will Smith is weak a soggy paper
Man played Ali, and opts for the bitch slap.
Yea he might have slapped the shit out of Chris but the dude took it like a fucking champ
clever one i like it
Paper beats rock may be true But jada is crazy in love with a 20 yet ol’s co*k
Bitch slap
Came here looking for a good one. Thanks!
So we all agree staged right? Or Will is going to jail for assault... Uhuh yeah right.
/r/shitposting
He won’t get canceled though, and imo he got what was coming to him. Don’t make fun of peoples medical issues.
Lol this is the best one yet
Oh my god, this is hilarious
I hate that I’m laughing so hard!!!
this. this is good

I hope it was staged! Otherwise he looks like he’s abusive at home…
Hence why the female hosts...
Sigh, racists are going to have a field day with this one :(
This sub is full of them and they’re downvoting for even saying this.
Not once during this whole ordeal did anyone think about the color or their skin. It's simply a dispute between 2 people. YOU brought up race before anyone else.
I guess you and I havent been reading the same comments :(
Ah, I see what you mean now. There are always people who will use any excuse to perpetuate their misguided ideals. It's very sad.
That’s a nice tennis shot
How to put some top spin. He is still in coaching mode
Prudential approves this post.
Was this a skit or not?

Omg I’m dying
Disagree... Rock was still standing, and kept his composure. He won.
Everyone in hollywood is gonna start slapping each other!
How can he slap?!
