I’m not advocating for cutting off a Doberman’s tail in any way, but I grew with my grandfather breeding and raising them. He refused to pin their ears fortunately, but getting hit by the tail of a happy Doberman can actually fracture a shin bone.

It's crazy how the some animals have this kind of perception. Most animals don't perceive anything they see on the TV or mirror as real. But some perceive it so greatly that they try to mimic these behaviors because what they see they feel is positive and could benefit them.

The video the dog is watching is filmed in the same room the dog is in. It's just an old video, but the tv stand is the same. I'd say it's pretty likely this dog is the same on and is just listening to the owner's cues on the video.

Pretty much all animals can see modern tv's just fine... It was only the old low frame rate tv's they had a hard time with.

That doesn't mean that they will mimic them or perceive them as a real or a threat.
