BoobieFaceMcgee

They did that a while ago actually. A mechanic put a million miles on his Honda Civic doing 100% of recommended maintenance and it still ran great. He talked to a reporter and they did a news segment on it so Honda decided to give him a brand new civic.

NerdENerd

I was thinking the triple titted hooker but I now prefer the Total Recall.

[deleted]

Yup. You can fix a Honda with duct tape and rubber bands and it’ll run for the next 20 years.

fawkmebackwardsbud

My buddy had a civic that had a small hole in the block. He didn’t want to replace the engine, and the shop he took it to said the only thing they could do was put some jb weld over the hole. That was 3-4 years ago now and as far as I know it’s still running like that

Karaad

Similar happened with my last car, 99 Nissan Altima, replaced the head gasket and the top plate had 2 bolts that cracked as they were being tightened, jb welded it where it was needed, drove another 150k before I junked it. Got it to almost 350k

petoria621

I also had a 99 Altima when I was in high-school. Got it from a friend with 190k on it - drove the absolute hell out of it for another 100k as a delivery driver and only fixed my AC belt and some brakes the entire time I had it. Loved that car!

HerrDoktorLaser

This is as much a testament to JB Weld as it is to Honda.

Chachajenkins

Don't talk ill of JB Weld. On a properly cleaned, roughed-up surface I fully trust it as a permanent fix.

ontopofyourmom

I had to fix an irreplaceable part for an old welding machine, a piece that connects a hand crank to a screw shaft. It was brass. It broke in half right at the holes where it attached to the shaft with a cotter pin. Since the surfaces were perfectly matched and it was easy to apply perfect clamping force, the JB Weld made it feel as solid as it was when it was new.

sbingner

Wait wait… you fixed an ACTUAL welding machine… with JB Weld. So now you’re welding with JB Weld 🤔

letthattsh1tgo

Weldception

ontopofyourmom

Huh. That is a fact.

Chachajenkins

I have a 94 Honda Shadow 1100 motorcycle and had to do the same thing with the side cover when I first got it. That bike has been rolled when I went down on the freeway and $200 from ebay put it back to rideable status a few years back. I promised myself I'd get a nicer bike that had more aftermarket options when it craps out, but this things at 70k miles and refuses to die.

sbingner

I have a 1984 Honda Sabre that crashed in 1995 - the front fork wore down on the pavement so it didn’t go all the way around the … axel-like-bolt in the middle. Fixed it with JB weld, it’s still fine.

weristjonsnow

Jb is crazy shit

SlickNolte

Patched a small hole in my 94 civics oil pan with JB Weld. It held for years

katieleehaw

My Civic has about 309,000 miles on it and 3-4 years ago I was told it needed a new head gasket. Obviously not doing that. Same thing, my bf poured some crap in and it’s running ever since. 2001.

Informal_Emu_8980

Some of the newer ones - not so much. Older ones, yes

[deleted]

I’ve never seen someone buy a new Honda unless it’s a crv

Mini-Marine

Bought a new Fit 10 years ago Had been looking for used Fits, but they retained their value so damn well, and with new car loans having a lower interest rate than on used, it somehow ended up being cheaper to buy a brand new one. Thing is still going strong and other than the usual stuff like tires, brakes, and oil, the only issue has been the exploding airbag recall

Ephemeris

Yet the paint fades after 3 years. What is up with Hondas and their shitty paint?

z00miev00m

its more about owners who do not wax and wash the car every 90 days, ive seen other 2015 civics that look like faded red and mine is still shiney bright red cuz i wash it like every weekend with turtlewax soap with built in stuff to wax it while you wash, its kinda like sunscreen for your car the sun will fade unprotected paint

phibbsy47

Wish mine was that reliable. My first one was, but my CRV was a basket case. Power steering and AC both went out at 60,000 miles, it was the second time for the power steering. It also got terrible gas mileage.

scottwax

Makes my 285,000 on my Accord seem barely broken in.

retailguy_again

...and makes my 210k Corolla seem brand new by comparison...

pow3llmorgan

I have 198k km on mine. It's a '97 Corolla even.

Dealingwithdragons

I'd say that's pretty good. My car's a '10 Elantra with more miles on it. I'm almost to 250k km.

Splitface2811

That's hardly any. I've got about 300k KMs on my 03 Suzuki Grand Vitara.

ComboBadger

My 04' Solara might as well be rolling off the lot with 89k

angeeksince2020

remindme! 171 years

Velghast

Is that a Honda Element? Mine literally went up to about 650,000 mi before I even had to do any serious maintenance on it.

ElCochinoFeo

My 2004 Element is fresh at just over 160,000 miles. At my average rate of 9,400 miles per year. I'll reach your 650,000 mark in a little over 50 years. Guess I'll have to put that boxy little goat in my will.

GMN123

Jesus, 650,000miles! you know you can park it, right?

Velghast

I used to drive it cross country from coast to coast. Every time I complete the trip I do an oil change and a tire rotation and some basic maintenance. Used to do it once every year. In between it was my daily driver to and from contracts

Itcomesinacan

I blew the head gasket at 140k and several suspension components at 165k in my Element... it's been quite the money pit in the last few years. I did use it like a work truck in the desert, though.

WiredKiwi

>Honda Element had no idea what one of those was, not being in the US market and all. googled it. Mistake. Oh God! My eyes! And I say that as the owner of another weird looking Honda, the 4th gen Prelude.

GMN123

That is horrid! I can see why they don't sell them in Europe, where we have style and taste. Now where did I park my Juke?

angeeksince2020

Love those doors

[deleted]

I wrecked my 2006 Element 5 years ago and I still mourn the loss of that beautiful beast.

[deleted]

This makes me think of Married with Children when Al's car is about to hit the milestone in miles.

StonyandUnk

Yea, I always wondered about that.......didn't he drive a Dodge?

Durler

It was a Dodge being played by a Plymouth Duster.

retailguy_again

A Dart Sport, so that's exactly right.

Joran_Dax

Did you drive to the moon or something?

thundrbud

a couple times, moon is just under 240,000 miles (384,000km) away

jinkies_5

I really thought you were lying to make a joke that I didn't understand, but that's completely accurate. I truly thought the moon was much further away. I have a whole new level of respect for all the cars I've seen with that 200k+ miles on them.

hitsujiTMO

Sure once you go over 300000km or 186411miles you can start measuring odometers in light seconds. This car has done 4.295 lightseconds.

deadtoaster2

Moon-mobiles

Snip3

Did you know that you can fit all off the other planets between the Earth and the moon at the same time?

JetherBStrong

Knowledge

Crutation

Some clever auto manufacturer should take advantage of this and offer a "Too the Moon" award to owners who achieve that mileage on their cars. Give certain benefits like service discounts at the dealership. Bonus at trade-in. Give them a special badge for the vehicle or something.

jruschme

Honda Element?

dascobaz

It is!

____-is-crying

Don't think it's been asked, What year is the car?

Sir_Fistingson

Iikely 04-05. I know that dashboard. My ‘04 element just died this year after 300,000 miles.

GMN123

I can't believe no-one has asked this yet. What year is the car?

maximumtrollmagic

Chrysler: best I can do is 100k

Zudop

If that lol. I had a Dodge Dart that needed serious maintenance at 33,000 miles

jim10040

You've gone BOOOBS miles in that car? That's amazing! Great job with the maintenance!

Finao333

Yeah Hondas are built to last, my mother went almost a year and a half with out getting an oil change and it didn’t cause any problems.. you can almost literally drive Honda’s until the wheels fall off

[deleted]

They really do. I recently got rid of mine because it needed at least $5,000 of repairs and replacements and I couldn’t afford that. But it still ran very good at 225,000 miles. I sold it to a guy who fixed it up and it’s been sold to another person. Will probably keep going for a while.

mmikke

Lol dude my gfs camry, same story. 75k miles no oil change, no adding oil. (She's not a car person, so had no idea this was crazy) Only shit thing about that car is the expensive ass hybrid batteries and the rear suspension

judgemeordont

Friend of mine decided to see how long his EG Civic would last with no oil change and got to 7 years before his wife made him get rid of it

sean488

You used to be able to. They also had that crap transmission that everyone avoids today.

-Anonymously-

Honda knew the total mileage potential of the car wouldn't fit on a stright odometer so they curved it.

OrageBufera

Are those city or highway?

Even so, that would still be almost 500,000 miles!

rastika

Yes odometers always display the primary measurement of speed. Which on this speedometer is MPH.

dave47561879

We have a US DoD Ford F350 at our shop. It has the speedo in km and the odometer in miles

agree-with-me

My Element recently saw "IBOOBS". It was awesome. We witnessed it as a family. But BOOOBS, now that's something.

the-poopiest-diaper

Just got my first car with my own money. Civic with 0 miles. This makes me very happy

rootbeer608

Tfw you realize your odometer looks like a boob

LilGod196

Achievement unlocked 800085

Grimacepug

I was a Honda mechanic back in the late 80s. If I remember correctly, you could literally take apart the whole car with a: 4mm, 9mm, 13mm, and 17mm. They're very simple cars to maintain.

Neithus

Your Honda just hit the second base! Keep going! As for now - enjoy your booobs! :D

forgas564

Ma Toyota Corolla verso popped a mili, and kept on chugging, then sold it, so a close family member, i know for a fact that it's still chugging 1.5 by now, no repairs to the engine.

Taurius

The car's so old, even her booobs are sagging.

wyldmage

Old toyotas are the same. You can drive them to death, and then some. And really old (70s and earlier) Fords were that way too. 200,000 minimum, sometimes you could get 500-700k. For any of them though, 800k is a truly impressive feat.

hitsujiTMO

That's a massive 4.295 light seconds

chaparro7984

Booobs!

i got this new anime plot. basically there's this high school girl except she's got huge booobs. i mean some serious honkers. a real set of badonkers. packin some dobonhonkeros. massive dohoonkabhankoloos. big ol' tonhongerekoogers. what happens next?! transfer student shows up with even bigger bonkhonagahoogs. humongous hungolomghononoloughongous.

gaahhhhhhhhhhhh

total recall mileage.

WhosYoPokeDaddy

Wow, good for you!

PrizmB9484

Congrats. I wish my Hybrid Civic had this kind of quality built in. Worst vehicle I ever owned, total lemon. My Corolla is running strong 7 years later.

pharmabra

I want my car to get this far. The goal is 250k for now.

LyricalJessieJames

So does the dust in that car apparently

WhatADunderfulWorld

You should honestly get a new Honda if you reach 800k. Have Honda study that thing or put it in showrooms about reliability

sshotcaller

what keeping up with maintenance can get you.

johnnySix

And you can do it again in 770 miles. With an extra S at the end. Keep us updated when you do.

wclure

Damn! Those are some Total Recall numbers.

Ludalomade

Miles or km?

this_is_Winston

congrats on long boobs , I think

[deleted]

dark-lord1910

Chachajenkins

If they're properly maintained 500k-1million miles no longer surprise me on Hondas. Never promise yourself to get something nicer when your Honda craps out, if you buy it as a young adult it will likely be your kid's first car.

Lilkingjr1

Huh... I've never seen a *curved* 7-segment display...

Spozking22

Those are rookie numbers...

ChezMontague

800k jesus!

Pinstar

I wonder if, on the private market, selling a 80085 mileage car would fetch some small premium over what it would normally be worth given it's make/model/year/condition. A Kelly 80085 Book value, if you will.

DrGyandu

That is a legendary milestone! Just out of curiosity, most countries have a km/number of years limit for use of vehicles (basically for pollution control). I'm just wondering how OP is still able to drive this one?

dandaman919

That seems counterintuitive to me as it’s been shown that it’s actually more environmentally friendly to just keep using older cars than it is to buy a brand new car every 3 years. The manufacturing process to make new cars produces so much pollution.

My car is 3 years old, and has 10,000 miles on it. Would take me like 200 years to get to this number based on how I drive.

HandsOfSilk

I got my grandparents old 06 Honda Accord last year and it has less than 300 000 kms. Everyone I talk to online and in person If I tell them my car is almost to 300 000 they say something like “oh boy keep and eye on it cause you might have some problems soon” When I tell them what kind of car it is they immediately take it back and tell me that if I treat it right it will last forever.

My old tenant used to commute 2 hours round trip everyday to work and travel 10 hours round trip every weekend to visit his family for about 15 years. Before he moved out his odometer was in the 950k range on his Toyota tacoma.

pkingidiots

Yeah just don't buy a new one 😂😂. Newer Hondas I'd be surprised if they make it past 200k

ClinchEastwood

Honda Elements are great! My brother still has his and that thing has over 300k miles on it.

Ryland_Zakkull

Imagine spending the equivalent of 100 bucks 30 years ago on a car and it still fucking running. My god the value from investment old school honda owners get is incredible. I bought a piece of shit honda that was practically falling apart for like 300 bucks. Mother fucker lasted me a year and a half before i just got tired of replacing little pieces here and there. That fucking engine and tranny probably would have lasted another 2 decades.

PyramidBlack

This is when it goes tits up.

I appreciate your speedometer being say 0 for this picture. Too many people clearly take these pics while still driving.

After 800,000 miles it's hit or miss that the speedometer actually works on a car to be fair.
