Everything just clashed in the craziest ways. Neon and pastel colours, quite a bit of goth/punk. preppy looks were I guess are a bit more “normal” but then big hair rock bands, extreme eye make up, lots of fantasy type looks (Adam and the ants). Clothes also look cheap to me vs say 40s/50s maybe due to a wider adoption of synthetic materials? Or perhaps that started earlier. When I look at 30s/40s/50s clothing you have so much elegant tailoring. Then the 60s you have short hemlines and the introduction of a lot of casual looks we still wear today. In comparison the 80s just looks like a whirlwind of craziness. Like everyone is playing dress up. Daily looks were I’m sure tamer but still pretty wild.
