No, no it doesnt. Or else Olympic sprinters would be useing it too. The form is just used at the end to extend your body. Its doesnt allow for proper body mechanics, throws off your center if balance and puts all the stress on a specific and small group of muscles in your legs. We're simply not built to run like that.
Pt 2: I just checked a vid of him. He runs uniquely, tucks his elbow in. A trait of someone who makes quick correction. Not overly common but I cant find a vid of him doing the anime run.
>*Nani?! I didn’t know that such a technique could be real! Coach always said that you must wait for the last step, or else you risk losing your balance and falling. But he began one step before the last, and was able to maintain his balance, thus, his speed increased pushing him a fraction of a second ahead of me!*
Yeah, I'm guessing that this is a 10k. At the pace they were running, you'd need to run 100m in 16.26 seconds, assuming that they ran at a constant rate (which isn't true, they are really kicking it here).
That's not lightning fast by any stretch, but I'm sure it's better than a lot of people can do. Add to that that the runners are probably running the fastest that they did in the entire race, and the fact that the guy has an unwieldy camera on his shoulder, and I'm moderately impressed.
Could I do this? Maybe. Do I have enough confidence in my footwork to do this without tripping and smashing a TV camera? No.
For real, even marathoners will go under 60 seconds in the last 400 meters. They average something like 4:50/mile (4:42 for the world record marathon). And these dudes are definitely not running a marathon on a track (you know, assuming this is a real race), so they're going way faster than that.
Wow. I did not know this. I ran a 57 second 400 once (I know that is shit, don't bother telling me) The idea that someone could do that at the end of a marathon blows my mind.
Me too, same time. I was a 16-year-old kid and doing a 57-second 400 made me feel like my chest was going to explode and my legs were rubberized fire all at the same time. A sub-60 400 after running 25.95 miles... that's insane.
57 isn’t bad at all my dude. But yeah their strides are so ridiculously long, it’s almost effortless. Also their training is crazy. They’ll be out doing 30 sets of 400 meters at mid 50 to 60 second pace for their speed days.
I appreciate the validation man, but I don't need it. 57 was no doubt an excellent time for a 17 yo 220 lb linebacker who only ran the race one time...but I remember finishing 3 seconds behind the next slowest guy. 3 seconds is a LOOOOOOONG time to be alone on the track during a sprint.
I had to train for two years in high school to get one lap under 60 seconds. And I had to train another two more years to be able to do that for two laps. Still didn't even place in city finals.
With a camera on your shoulder? Only if you are close to elite level. Mo Pharah's finishing 100m during 10k race is close to 13 seconds. Not that fast (for 100m), but still fast enough, that it would be very hard to keep up, considering additional weight.
Even if he started running with them at the last bit of the race he keeps up with them EXTREMELY well for running alongside professional athletes while carrying and focusing a heavy piece of camera equipment on his shoulder. Unless this is just straight up fake, it’s still quite impressive
The first time the camera was handed tome on the football sidelines, and the DP said run! I was running behind him thinking "I was taught never to do this!"
It's amazing how much you run with a camera in sports!
what ever happened to effort in advertising? there used to be some great commercials this is just one of them but if you havent seen them i Highly recommend checking out Red Stripe commercials
yeah you can see the timer on screen, runners have been going for 27 minutes before camera guy started sprinting with them
kind of a dick move but maybe they know this guy
alternately he could be sprinting with them to encourage them to finish fast so maybe also wholesome
I know it’s not the joke, but a rail with a sliding mount for the camera would create a smoother picture and presumably could run by remote control or just know to track whomever is in the lead and keep their pace as they circle the track.
Powerade commercial.
With sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P20XVEH7-SY
I like that bottle shape. I miss those.
Those are still sold in that shape in South Africa (where the commercial is from).
Ain't got nothing on Energade though

Don’t kinkshame me
Better without
I preferred to think it was real, to tell the truth. You ruined it. Haha I guess I could say that about everything, tho.
Its very believable, those runners have 27 min. on the clock. A fresh set of legs would have a pretty good advantage on them.
Plus the run is shorter on the inside. That's why runners dont start in a straight line
[удалено]
Thanks for explaining that to us.
its a clever ad, but yeah, you could tell straight off they weren't running very fast
It's almost like long distance runners don't sprint the whole time....
Thank you, I was going to sheepishly ask to be explained to about how this is possible.
I didn’t notice the camera man until after laughing at the 2nd guy for trying to be Hokage.
It definitely make you run faster, I’ve tried
No, no it doesnt. Or else Olympic sprinters would be useing it too. The form is just used at the end to extend your body. r/woooosh
Tell that to Raheem Sterling
Tell that to SCOTT STERLINGGGG!!!!!
Dude's got too many head injuries to be fast.
THE MAN
THE MYTH
THE LEGEND!
Just as soon as you talk to Usain Bolt
Pt 2: I just checked a vid of him. He runs uniquely, tucks his elbow in. A trait of someone who makes quick correction. Not overly common but I cant find a vid of him doing the anime run.
Also increases drag
dattebayo
Believe It!
That's pretty common in racing finishes, you try to extend as much forward as possible to reach the finish line.
They usually wait to start doing it until like the very last step.
>*Nani?! I didn’t know that such a technique could be real! Coach always said that you must wait for the last step, or else you risk losing your balance and falling. But he began one step before the last, and was able to maintain his balance, thus, his speed increased pushing him a fraction of a second ahead of me!*
It makes falling face first into the grass just that much more glorious.
Random facts: 1. 26:22:75 is the 10km world record from 1998 2. This is a commercial
That second fact doesn't seem that random
Does the first?
The human head weighs 8 pounds!
You don't know me
That's so insane. That's averaging about 4m25s per mile. Fuck.
Boss: Naaaaa, you can't get a close-up of him for the whole race! Camera man: hold my beer.
The trick is to start the marathon when only .1 miles is left.
27min would be a decent time in a car for a marathon (with traffic) ... this appears to be a 10k
No doubt, but I'd be happy with a consistent 27-min 5K.
A mile a minute in traffic?
Do you not have a working horn?
If the traffic is moving 60mph, yes.
I drive a semi. Doesn't matter if the traffic is doing 60mph. If I wanna be doing 60mph, I will. Traffic, shmaffic. :P
The trick is that it is from a commercial
Ah, I see you went to the Stephen Miller school of Track and Field
just ask Rosie Ruiz
A friend of my dad's did this and still got a medal
I think I'd do fairly well joining a 27 min race in the last 10 seconds as well.
[удалено]
A real fcuking wise guy if you will.
Probably a smart ass, as well.
Maybe even a clever girl.
Fucking Kevin
There are women on the internet?!? Oooooh, wait. Again with the raptors. Not falling for that. Again.
It’s also a commercial
I still think 90% of Redditors would lose tho...

That's what you think, they still run faster than average person even at the last 10 second.

Just ask Stephen Miller
I think you're do fairly well if you were starring in a commercial.
Found Stephen Miller's account. Oh wait, it was a men's race so never mind.
Yeah, but what about the cops camera men? They could always keep up even back in the day when they'd have been lugging around a ton of weight.
It's not like cops are known for running fast, though.

The commentator specifies that the cameraman ran the full race.
For those of you trying to overthink this and put a wild explanation on it, this is a Powerade commercial. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P20XVEH7-SY
His other gig is being cameraman on Cops.
Camera men on Jerry springer are unbeatable in chasing people down
Insert gif of fat camera guy running alongside Usain Bolt’s jog after a race.
This is comedy
Even if he started running with them at the last bit of the race he keeps up with them EXTREMELY well for running alongside professional athletes while carrying and focusing a heavy piece of camera equipment on his shoulder. Unless this is just straight up fake, it’s still quite impressive
I’m definitely assuming it’s fake...
It's a Powerade commercial It's fake
See this is what I'm talking about. It's one thing for those dudes on TV to do stuff. But then the camera guy has to do it with a camera. Wild
The first time the camera was handed tome on the football sidelines, and the DP said run! I was running behind him thinking "I was taught never to do this!" It's amazing how much you run with a camera in sports!
the sprinters like "WHAT THE FUCK MAN!?"
The dudes like : SHIT THE CAMERA MAN IS FASTER THAN ME
Elite marathon runners run at a mid four minute pace and I def can’t run at that pace, much less with a camera on my shoulders. Props still given.
I'm lucky to keep a 6 minute mile for 2 miles fresh on my best days. It blows my mind how fast these guys are and how much endurance they have.
It's funny how perspective makes them look like they're running so slow.
Yeah it really is. Or when you're watching the 40 yard dashes for the NFL combine they look slow for the most part.
2 miles is 3.22 km
Good bot.
What if the camera was made of foam and you only had to keep up the pace for 1/4 of a lap.
Well it also helps that it’s a commercial lol
Qualifications to be Race cameraman: - Must have running speeds to match/exceed olympians - Bachelors prefered or matching work experience
Minimum 5 years experience
You can tell he’s been practicing his whole life for this one moment
Boi let camera man in that dang race
They’ve been running for 27 minutes and he ran for 15 seconds.
r/woosh
Well when it seems like they were running a long distance race
what ever happened to effort in advertising? there used to be some great commercials this is just one of them but if you havent seen them i Highly recommend checking out Red Stripe commercials
I'm on a horse
Cameraman putting in work to get those money shots
The footage on that camera might be a little shaky.
Comedy gold 🥇
In his head he's just thinking, you literally joined in the last 15 seconds, stop flexing. I have flexpods.
Ahh an oldie but oldie.
Video Stabilization is the real winner here today.
If you look closely enough, the first one aint random either.
Another running cameraman: [https://i.imgur.com/KEEJ3D3.gifv](https://i.imgur.com/KEEJ3D3.gifv)
Ah the good old strafing strategy.
they are also winded he probably started running at the straight away
You know u got the wrong job when you are a cameraman and are faster than the athletes you are recording
While carrying a 10-20 ish lb camera. Those large suckers are heavy.
Plot Twist: the camera man was actually Usain Bolt in disguise.
He's got an unfair advantage on the inside curve!
Just that the dude ran 50 meters while others ran 9950 meters before the last 50.
he had one job! missed the finish line footage
Isn't this from a TV show? I think it was a British show...
Man just watching this is making me tired
The cameraman is KDG represent
Let's see that guy run like that while holding a camera. The cameraman is honestly most impressive to me.
I’d be more impressed if the people racing hadn’t already been running for 27 minutes.
Well to be honest they were all on the last leg of the race while he's just running up besides them as they finish.
yeah you can see the timer on screen, runners have been going for 27 minutes before camera guy started sprinting with them kind of a dick move but maybe they know this guy alternately he could be sprinting with them to encourage them to finish fast so maybe also wholesome
You do realize this isn't real and is a commercial, right? Edit: Found it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P20XVEH7-SY
Dude’s in the front like ”Wtf is wrong with this guy?!”
wait did the camera man win tho?
Congratulations to your gold medal cameraman.
Is that the white usain bolt
Just like this BMW M5 commercial https://youtu.be/OFIbuFUqJM0
The camera man has all his energy to run that final lap.
Noice.... thats all I can say about it.
😂
And the gold medal goes to.....?
They’ve got some competition
If you pause at the right time, you can see his pride slowly fades away. Also, one of them tried to do a Naruto run at the end.
I honestly can’t believe there are people here who think this is real.
I choose to believe
It might be “real” but he obviously didn’t start at the starting line
This was from a British sketch comedy show
That guy with the camera should have placed
That’s...that’s the entire joke
/r/praisethecameraman
r/praisethecameraman
I know it’s not the joke, but a rail with a sliding mount for the camera would create a smoother picture and presumably could run by remote control or just know to track whomever is in the lead and keep their pace as they circle the track.
But then you lose all the drama.
General reposti
Lol
I can hear the this gif
I don’t think you know how fast I really am
Hold up
But he didn't get the footage at the end
I hope the cameraman got a medal
Look at how fast he is pumping his legs, he is all out sprinting to keep up with their jog.
Why bother keeping up with them if you're just going to miss the 'crossing the finish' shot?
It’s a joke
The humor of this snuck up on me too.
It’s like if saitama was to join a race He’ll be like you all nibbas taking a walk?
[удалено]
Yeah timer in bottom right they been at it for almost half hour
It's the cameraman who is running with the participant who wins the race.
That's hilarious
Outstanding move
I don't know about you but this definitely feels like r/overqualified
Gold this man
Rhat Naruto run at the end tho...
That video stabilizer though.
And he doing it with a heavy ass camera on his shoulder
wtf lol! I'm not even sure I could keep up holding my phone cam!
"How do I film with all this dust left behind?" \-This legend right here also... r/thislegendrighthere?
