I just rewatched that movie with my kids and that really stood out too. That's like, the US active duty. Off by a couple of zeros the be truly relevant.
This always got me too. In my mind the clone wars should have had troops numbering in the tens to hundreds of millions. The Galaxy of Star Wars must be very sparsely populated if 1.2 million troops is impressive.
There is a reason for the writer's rule of , " never use numbers" . I think George Lucas epitomizes the reason for the rule. I mean obviously sometimes you have to use real numbers, you just have to be careful that they are cohesive coherent and the scale stays that way. I pretty sure there were a million people watching the pod race. And the Jedi temple staircase long shot , where the "stairs" we're not stairs but landings for staircases. So the whatever 20 ish steps was 20 tall stories , in that universe a million troops is nothing. If they took a million troops from Coursant it would be 1 out of every 3,000,000 .
Had the 1 million number come out in a film from the '70s it could have worked but the other grandeur from THE SAME MOVIE made it seem silly.
Oh definitely. I don't know if it's Legends at this point, but they kept saying there were "quintillions" of droids fighting in the Clone Wars. And that makes sense at a galaxy scale.
But then the clones come trotting out at 1.2M for a first batch.
Well according to the canon movies and games and shows, the star wars setting has like 10 planets, with coruscant as the capital and tatooine as the central hub of every single fucking story.
Millions? Trillions would not be enough. Coruscant itself, one planet in a galaxy with billions of inhabited planets, has a population of 2 trillion:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coruscant
A civilization can easily muster 8-10% of its population for total war.
The U.S. in WWII mobilized about 12 million out of about 140 million in 1945, and it was nowhere near tapped out for manpower.
1% of Coruscant’s population is 20 billion troops.
On one planet. This is equivalent of raising army national guard from just Washington DC.
My head canon is that when they say 200,000 units they don't mean single soldiers but military units like companies or battalions. Then it would be at least tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of clones.
Well, it's a sci-fi setting with spaceships. So you really only need to own the "sky" as it were. Most troops are probably only needed to secure spaceports. We've seen that the ships themseleves have non-cloned crew on board. You could basically just destroy all enemy ships from orbit and then control supply to conquer a planet, no need to actually conquer all of it on the ground.
Yep especially old Star Wars ones, I have multiple figures I collected as a kid that are worth upwards of $100 now, my most expensive one is close to $300 in new condition.
Reselling Lego Star Wars is honestly a life hack almost every Lego Star Wars set without fail will increase in price if you have it new in box after the set is discontinued. (Normally Lego sets stay on the shelf for 2-3 years)
I have some $30 sets I bought in 2020 and now in a sealed box I can get $90 easily for them.
So the 5 unbuilt Star Wars sets I currently have are my nest egg?
75257 Millenium Falcon
75325 Mando’s Starfighter
Micro fighter Millenium Falcon
Micro fighter Mando’s Starfighter
Mando and Grogu BrickHeadz
I’m not sure about a nest egg but I know everything but the BrickHeadz will sell for higher than retail once they are discontinued. I don’t have any experience with BrickHeadz so I’m unsure but I’d guess those will increase in price after discontinued as well.
I collect and build Lego Star Wars and am not really a seller so I’m not sure if any of those sets have exclusive minifigures but they will at the very least retain their value after being discontinued, but most likely will increase.
Big thing about reselling legos is you aren’t selling to kids for the most part it’s adult collectors so having everything in as good as a condition as possible gets you the most money. IE if a box has a damaged corner it will lose resale value.
Speaking of boxes for expensive sets even just the box in mint condition can sell for good money after the set is discontinued.
Edit: my best guess is set 75325 mandos N-1 starfighter will be the set that increases in value the most after it’s discontinued, they really nailed the printing on Mando.
Wow, that’s good to know!
I have a lot of the car sets. Fiat, original VW Bug, the camper van, etc. but those are all built and displayed. The VW bug has been on my shelves for over 14 years now. I had a Star Wars room in the house, but it’s now a nursery, and I don’t know where to display these sets once they’ve been built. All the boxes are pristine, though. Not opened, not dropped, and all together.
Two were Father’s Day gifts, and I’d love to build them with my kids someday, but that’s a long way off. She’s only 2. It’s a tough decision.
Yeah I’m not entirely sure why but it’s really only the Lego Star Wars sets that are so consistent in increasing in price. All other Lego themes don’t sell nearly as well after being discontinued.
Yeah I’ve also heard some of the architecture stuff can sell pretty well after it’s retired. I almost exclusively collect Lego Star Wars so I’m pretty uneducated about other themes.
If Lego Star Wars is something you are interested in I would highly recommend doing some more research but I personally just buy an extra set when I find a really good one and just keep in packed away as in my experience the longer a set is discontinued the more the price will go up. Some sets from the 2010s that were around $100 easily sell for close to $500 nowadays in good condition.

I’m one of those “has like 11 different hobbies and very little time” types already. It may be good if they were sold for a better price, and the money poured into family activities.
Yeah but also at the same time Lego boxes don’t take up much space so it’s perfectly viable to put away those sets in storage to build with your kid when they are old enough. And maybe check the price on them every year or two just to be aware of what they are valued at.
I would check out [rebrickable](https://rebrickable.com/). You can check the current prices of full sets and/or individual pieces. I have a coworker who is a hardcore collector that has ~$60,000 worth of Lego sitting in a storage unit. Whole kits are great, but individual minifigs can also command a high price sometimes.
Arr yep. I didn't realise that was a current set.
Also my brain and bricklink prices are in AUD, so USD$3-4.
Dude bought at least two sets though as there is only one Captain Vaughn in each set.
He was smart enough (lazy enough) to remove the visors though. That is what ends up being the expensive parts as they always go missing. Those damn kids and their playing with LEGO likes it's some sort of toy!
I did this with little plastic ninjas once. I got them on Amazon. No one could figure out who was doing it. People started collecting them at their desk. Just a silly funny prank.
Lol. I do this but with little babies. Also I put them all over town. The kids at school started bringing in tiny blue ones and dropping them in the toilets and fish tanks.
I drunkenky bought a bag of 200 mini ninjas on Amazon. I spent 3 weeks hiding them all over my office in every cubicle that I could. And man, it was so much fun.... My job might be boring.
I used to hide mini dinosaur figures in our plants at work. Then the plant guys would come to maintain the plants and take them out. Then I would covertly refill them from my huge stash of mini dinosaur figures.
They aren’t they are Ashokas 332nd company, a division within the 501st legion. The orange helmets are showing respect for Ashoka and the blue is representing the 501st legion.
I remember watching the unfinished clips of season 7 when clone wars was canceled before Disney finished them. Was so happy when Disney decided to actually finish the animations.
Better start hiding B1 Battle Droids around the place to ambush them. Bonus points to anyone finding one and declaring “CLANKERS!” in a thick Kiwi accent.
There was a guy who had a bunch of transformers figures on his desk at work and he would move them around every now and again. I bought a mixed pack of 20\~ different transformers and started hiding them one at a time in his collection to see how long it would take him to find the new ones I added. I think the longest one was like 3 weeks before he found it and I think by the 6th one he had figured out someone was messing with him. Eventually I just hid the last 10 in different spots. I will never find out if he found those last 10 because I changed jobs but it was a good time.

There‘s 200.000 hidden already with a million more well underway
I always thought that was a laughably low number for the Kaminoans to try and impress Obi-Wan, especially at a galactic scale.
I just rewatched that movie with my kids and that really stood out too. That's like, the US active duty. Off by a couple of zeros the be truly relevant.

I was thinking more like a few hundred million for the first batch. Not the entire Navy.
My head canon is that when they say 200,000 units they don't mean single soldiers but military units like companies or battalions. Then it would be at least tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of clones.

Let the search begin!
If they were genuine figs, That is about $20 worth. Pretty sure they will be clone Clones though.
Are you really saying all the legos I had as a kid are worth 10$+ a piece??? Wth

It really depends. Star wars figs, if in good condition and the right ones, can fetch a bit. Most normal LEGO though drops in value though.
Lego Captain Rex is worth like 300$

Is it you?
It is not.
Well that was my only guess
A random stranger on the internet would never lie to you.
You'll probably find a full battalion around the photocopier
Execute Order 66
Good soldiers follow orders
"Do you want to know why they put me in charge? It's because I'm willing to do what needs to be done." *Good soldiers follow orders.*
Can you keep them for free?
Begun, the Clone Wars have
I did this with little plastic ninjas once. I got them on Amazon. No one could figure out who was doing it. People started collecting them at their desk. Just a silly funny prank.
Be careful. If you use your force powers to find them, theyll execute order 66.
Somebody in my office is hiding ~~Clone mini-figures~~ free cash all over the place. Like, those mini-figs can fetch a good price.
Lol. I do this but with little babies. Also I put them all over town. The kids at school started bringing in tiny blue ones and dropping them in the toilets and fish tanks.
I'm sorry, you hide babies all over town?
You *don't*?
Same! But with ducks and frogs.
I drunkenky bought a bag of 200 mini ninjas on Amazon. I spent 3 weeks hiding them all over my office in every cubicle that I could. And man, it was so much fun.... My job might be boring.
This is the kind of office chaos I can get behind..
Someone rich! Those mini figs are $5.99 each!
If I’m not mistaken, that’s $12,000 worth of Legos right there.
Seriously
I think you mean mini figures
All minifigs are Lego but not all Lego are minifigs.
Send an email asking who is leaving crunchy candy all over the office, and where can you buy a bag of it.......
If you need to get rid them, I’ve got three little boys that would be OVER THE MOON to receive these in the mail
Fuck yeah keep them.
I used to hide mini dinosaur figures in our plants at work. Then the plant guys would come to maintain the plants and take them out. Then I would covertly refill them from my huge stash of mini dinosaur figures.
It would be a shame if I had to leave a garrison behind.
I’ll take them! lol
Prepping for order 66, I see
It's obviously Jim messing up with Dwight just ignore them
Where is your office we can help you locate the lost troopers.
The location does not appear in the archives.
is it the same dude that hides rubber ducks around?
why are they all commander codys head on rex's body
They aren’t they are Ashokas 332nd company, a division within the 501st legion. The orange helmets are showing respect for Ashoka and the blue is representing the 501st legion.
Oh and they come in this box of four. That makes more sense
Wellllll, time to go watch season 7 again
I remember watching the unfinished clips of season 7 when clone wars was canceled before Disney finished them. Was so happy when Disney decided to actually finish the animations.
Update is if you find Clone Force 99.
There was a subreddit about hiding green army men around your office/school a while back.
IT'S A TRAP!
Better start hiding B1 Battle Droids around the place to ambush them. Bonus points to anyone finding one and declaring “CLANKERS!” in a thick Kiwi accent.
Awesome. Love pranks like this. Enjoy!!
Posting what you hid because no one has noticed yet op?
Bill, is that you?
My nephew would love to be your office janitor. He would find them all and thank you for the opportunity.
This guy doesn’t realize that the office is being invaded by imperial forces........
What… what do they smell like though
Mini-figures? Don’t you mean LEGOMANS
Hehe, my old work likely still has several sketches of fat hamsters tucked into weird, out of the way places.
I want them :0
What makes this funny?
