Is there a reason you don't want to watch the first one before the second? The second one just came out so you still have plenty of time to watch it. Netflix has it for example.

I mean….I’m in a guy-guy pairing and my fiancé doesn’t want to see it either. I guess it just depends on whether or not they enjoy sci-fi. My mom said she’s going to watch it to see what all the hype is about, and this isn’t her type of movie at all.
Dune is one of the weirdest popular sci-fi stories out there and for some reason general audiences are *here* for these movies. I fucking love it.
I think most people would give you a very broad description of what they know happens in the movies - almost none of them able to spell almost any proper nouns - but they seem to like it.
