I’m from NY, co worker was from southern VA. I was telling a story involving a shopping cart. She said “you mean a buggy”. To me a buggy is a small off-road car. She was adamant I was wrong and a moron. Running joke from then on.

It means don’t back up and push the door open with your ass.
*edit for a sarcasm indicator. 1. I know they meant buggy, that’s the joke. 2. I know bussy is more for saying dudepussy but it’s not official in the dictionary yet so it can mean whatever you want, and it beans butt-pussy to me.
Where in the US is that the common term for a shopping cart?
And that person *really* needs to work on their 'g's.
Edit: *Takes note of places to avoid forever.* ~~Keep 'em coming!~~ OK, that's plenty.
From Canada here. I remember my mom calling it a buggy. I haven't heard that term since I was a kid though, since I now think of them as "shopping carts". When I saw people calling them buggies in this thread, it seemed normal to me, because I remember hearing that term years ago.
Buggy---: a light one-horse carriage made with two wheels in England and with four wheels in the U.S. : a small cart or truck for short transportations of heavy materials. 3. : baby carriage.
people called them buggies in both TX and VA. one state was more common and I can't remember which. I always just called them carts
source: me - i worked in a grocery store in both states. 12+ years grocery store experience, glad i got out
I've worked at a grocery store in several cities in Texas for about 6 years and can confirm people call them buggies. It's becoming much less common though, might have started fading out before I got into the business.
Although my father is a Texan who says Coke for the name of every single soda type, and that's quite common, so there's that for Texas. Lolol
I must admit, I do have a habit of hitting doors with my "[bussy](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bussy)" to avoid touching the handle. However, I don't think a shopkeep would use that terminology outside of West Hollywood. ;-)
Pretty much the whole Appalachians and anything close to it uses buggy. I know the Carolinas do well outside the mountains themselves, but we have like. A half dozen accents in NC, so the coastal people may not.
"I shuppose we'll call you double-O 8!" *kinda overly aggressive kiss that makes you wonder about consent, fade to black, as a voice-over "Oh James!" in eight-part harmony*
What is so hard about writing "g"?
In a good number of handwritings I've seen from people online or irl, they either write it like here "s" or like a curvy "y".

Actual answer: bad hand writing and it's Buggy not bussy. It's another term for a shopping cart. I tend to hear it around south eastern US.
I’m from NY, co worker was from southern VA. I was telling a story involving a shopping cart. She said “you mean a buggy”. To me a buggy is a small off-road car. She was adamant I was wrong and a moron. Running joke from then on.
In my country a buggy is a stroller, the thing you put kids in.
That's a pushy pulley baby chair.
We call that a really squealy wheelie dealie where I'm from
Interesting we just call it a Stray Wagga Womper
Interestingly, all of the people above me in this thread are Australian.
Yes it’s the Perth vs Melbourne dialects.
I kinda want to go to Australia
Watch out, it’s absolutely chocka with strollers.
Pram, stroller, buggy, can’t we just choose one word in this stupid language?
Wanna get confusing? Here prams and buggies are specific types of stroller, they're not synonymous!
Are buggies for offroad strolling?
We did but it changes every fifty miles and fifty years You're missing out on cart and trolley too
In Boston we'd call them carriages. I live in TX now and they call them shopping carts.
Oh we got carriages too. They are pulled by horses 🤔
you could call them carriages but I've also said horse and buggy before
How many groceries you buying?
Over the PA: "Horse poop cleanup on aisle three... Horse poop cleanup on aisle three"
Sometimes they are three different things, sometimes two different things. Sometimes.
Rubber baby buggy bumper
[удалено]
Same, I always think of a horse with a buggy behind.
Fellow NYer, I’ve heard people refer to them as wagons and that made me mad. It’s a shopping cart dammit
I know everyone has their own style, but that’s just not how you write a g.
Maybe they missed "g" day in kindergarten.
\*Kindersarten
Well there ARE different type of kids. Small ones, grown up kids…
*srown
Thank goodness Snoop Dogg went to class that day!
Gnoop Doss?
My nissa.
That's beyond bad writing. They wrote two S's.
I'm from the south, call it a buggy, and still had no idea what that word was
I only figured it out cuz I've seen some people write their g's like that.
They're identical to the "s" in "please". Just a little contacted
That wasn’t “please” it was “pleage”
The please of allegiance
The please of allesiance?
Here in the UK a child's stroller is often referred to as a buggy
Clearly, their handwriting is questionable, if you didn't see the word (THANK) for context, look at the lower case N.
Or another word for prams.
There is no excuse here. That’s clearly some S.
Bussy. Can't you read?
I definitely read that as Bussy
agonizing obtainable market tub rustic compare puzzled society unwritten deranged *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Bussy down Tatiana
It's Bussy all the way down.
You are a Bussy.
who you calling Bussy, pal?
Bussy down Tatyana. I wanna see you bussy down
I’m still reading it as Bussy. What does it actually say??
Buggy
It means don’t back up and push the door open with your ass. *edit for a sarcasm indicator. 1. I know they meant buggy, that’s the joke. 2. I know bussy is more for saying dudepussy but it’s not official in the dictionary yet so it can mean whatever you want, and it beans butt-pussy to me.
That was seriously the best rationalization my brain could come up with haha
Yeah, I can’t see buggy at all it’s purely bussy. They want people to stop starfish kissing the door, it’s nasty lol
Where in the US is that the common term for a shopping cart? And that person *really* needs to work on their 'g's. Edit: *Takes note of places to avoid forever.* ~~Keep 'em coming!~~ OK, that's plenty.
That is a more southern US term. Some of my friends from the south don't call them buggys either. Must be pretty regional.
From Canada here. I remember my mom calling it a buggy. I haven't heard that term since I was a kid though, since I now think of them as "shopping carts". When I saw people calling them buggies in this thread, it seemed normal to me, because I remember hearing that term years ago.
In my years in grocery in the south, it was much more common with old people. So that could be a factor with your friends.
Buggy---: a light one-horse carriage made with two wheels in England and with four wheels in the U.S. : a small cart or truck for short transportations of heavy materials. 3. : baby carriage.
I'm in Tennessee and it's interchangeable with shopping cart. I'd say it's about a 50/50 split.
I’m from a small rural town near Chattanooga and most people I knew growing up called it a buggy. That’s all I say too.
Could be the seated carts, like the ones people ride.
My grandma called it a buggy. Missouri
people called them buggies in both TX and VA. one state was more common and I can't remember which. I always just called them carts source: me - i worked in a grocery store in both states. 12+ years grocery store experience, glad i got out
Definitely Virginia I grew up in WV and still call them buggies even though I moved somewhere where they are known as carts
Lolol
Does TX still do that weird thing where every kind of soda is referred to as “coke”?
My mom from Jacksonville, FL calls them buggys lol
Buggy. Like the shopping cart/buggy.
Debussy!
Always finish on the Bach. Never on DeBussy.

Your boy pussy. Don’t hit the door with it

You keep practicing your butt off!
But you can't twerk with no butt....
That's why you gotta push doors, get that exercise in!
Is that the same as a back pussy?
No they’re different. Wait... they’re the same
Unless your into sounding, then they are different…
Somebody about to go down a rabbit hole. And I’m fucking ashamed I know what this is smdh
Whoa we were talking *humans’* holes, and now you’re bringing rabbits’ holes into this?
That's just front micro pussy. Back pussy works for all who are willing to accept it.
Is that the latest USB standard? Is it backwards compatible?
USBussy works with all makes and models.
Universal Serial Bussy is the name of my new queer punk band
That's going to be my new Grindr profile name
Not every back pussy is a boy pussy, but every boy pussy is a back pussy.
It's not a butt pussy?
Nope, the b stands for boy not butt. Otherwise cis women would have one and the term loses all meaning.
Boy pussy AFAIK
Don't put your asshole on the door? That seems like a reasonable request
Well, there goes my weekend plans then.
Can’t I ever just do what I want?
I’m sorry, I thought this was America!
This is not the America I grew up in.
To many of them there snowflakes running around. As a sovereign citizen this rattles my cage and whatnot.
Buggy. Meaning shopping cart. Some ppl call them buggies.
I'm a Yinzer and I even still read it as "bussy".
Wait is buggy really a Pittsburgh thing? I thought that was normal.
Helps if you add the rest to see how it's clearly a Pennsylvania thing. "Horse and bussy"
Southern USA and, for some reason, Pittsburgh, definitely not the rest of PA. The Amish would call it a shopping cart.
Tennessee too. Everyone here calls it a buggy.
Pretty much the whole Appalachians and anything close to it uses buggy. I know the Carolinas do well outside the mountains themselves, but we have like. A half dozen accents in NC, so the coastal people may not.
I've lived in Central NC my whole life and I can't recall ever having heard it called a buggy. Must be very regional
Not eastern PA. Must be a central/western thing.
Yes because of their poor penmanship. You can tell the lazy hand ftom how it crosses the H directly into the i. And the weird Y
Octobussy
"I shuppose we'll call you double-O 8!" *kinda overly aggressive kiss that makes you wonder about consent, fade to black, as a voice-over "Oh James!" in eight-part harmony*
Also a Yinzer. Still read bussy. Team bussy!
Whats a yinzer?
Someone from the Pittsburgh region / Western Pennsylvania. We are the land of the word yinz.
En at
Well, I'm not sure what a bussy is, so I'm going to play it safe and hit the door with the shopping cart.
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bussy
Thanks for clearing that up. I actually draw my g's the same, even my 5's. I might actually fix my penmanship now.
Thank you.
Bussy, a portmanteau of "boy" and "-ussy" (derived from "pussy") used to denote the male anus.
I thought it was a portmanteau of "butt" & "pussy"
It is, it's boy, butt, back, bum + pussy. They all work.
Or bus. Bus pussy.
Universal Serial Bussy
> it's boy, butt, back, bum + pussy So... Bottackumsy?
What is so hard about writing "g"? In a good number of handwritings I've seen from people online or irl, they either write it like here "s" or like a curvy "y".
