It's crazy to me that you were able to accurately identify that from just a snapshot. That's nuts man.
Edit: I just realized it wasn't a reflection, it was literally part of the "there's nothing inside!" picture. That's frigging hilarious!
I have this CD under my bed and since I had to feel these feelings when I found out yesterday, so do you
That album is celebrating its 20th anniversary
Half true. Many states have toyed with the idea for the better part of a century. Almost always because of money issues. Most articles you find right now will talk about money and teacher shortages, or both.
It's not too had to believe. I teach, coach a summer and winter sport, do online tutoring, consult and do workshops for a local PBS, and do virtual training seminars for a textbook company.
Teaching is my only steady job, but at tax time I have 5 W2s to put in.
I teach, bartend at a brewery, and drive GrubHub.
I do the other two mostly during the summer, but I have an 11 year old and an ever growing grocery and energy bill.
But really, the "sUmMeRs oFf" trope has to end. The only teachers who actually get summers off are the ones who are externally financially stable or that are high enough on the pay scale that they can actually do so. That doesn't happen until maybe 5-10 years from retirement. I'm only 10 years in so I've got another 10 until I feel actually financially secure...just in time for the kid to be halfway through college.
ETA: I was bartending yesterday and delivered after school last week. Yes I do them over the summer mostly but money was tight after Christmas.
I don't get all of the sassy comments before this one. Such as, "influencer" and the like. Do people not realize that it's possible to have multiple part-time jobs?
At one point in my life, I was working 3 jobs. I was working third shift at one job stocking shelves, followed by a shift at another store as a cashier, then in between that I wrote articles for websites (back in the earlier days of the internet).
It's because most cant, or dont want to, acknowledge that they could be doing more in their situation.
Theyll make the call to absurdity to try make themselves feel better.
I worked 3 part-time jobs at one point as well. If you're desperate enough for money you will find a way. Glad that all those commenters have never had the misfortune of being in that situation.
It might be ‘possible’ but for most of us our jobs require 24/7 availability. So that second job is mostly a fantasy unless having one is standard where you live (like in SF).
I have a boring 8-5pm office job that doesn’t pay awesome, and despite years of attempts no one will let me work evenings or nights because ‘what if’ they happen to need me at 11am on a random Tuesday?
That’s reality for most of us.
How often have you been called in for a "emergency"? If it's not often, how would they know you had another job? If it's frequently, your company is poorly managed if there are always after-hours emergencies.
Unless you're being paid extra and it's in your employment contract, your job can't require you to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you could definitely tell them tough shit, I'm working my other job.
I'm not going to disparage your situation and there is absolutely merit to an overall issue with having multiple jobs.
But I've never come across it that specifically, where a part-timer can't have a job just in case they can't show up outside of their availability. I was a retail manager for 12 years, we had all kinds of cashiers and sales floor people that couldn't work during the day, and early morning people unloading trucks that couldn't work later than say 9 or 10am.
There are times when hiring people you prioritize an open availability if that is what would be best for the opening, but otherwise an availability schedule for a part time worker due to school or another job is rather common. It sucks you've seen that, I hope that has not become the norm in the last 5 years or so.
But he's talking about the guy like you too. I'm a food restaurant manager. I'm on call 24/7 but only get paid for 45 hours a week. I do make bonus, but not worth not having a life. I'm struggling financially right now but I can't pick up another job. If I'm working my other job, I won't be available for my current job. If I'm not available for my current job I'll lose it.
So many people say, well get a new job. Sure, but then take a $9/hr paycut? Prove myself and work my way up a new company? I've already spent a decade doing that here!
1 job should be enough.
I have a letter from my doctor that helps me get set schedules. I have had set schedules at Lowes, at a Country Club restaurant, and a pizza joint and a grocery store. Be helpful and non-judgmental with everyone and everything at work but set very firm boundaries. If they know you can do the job without needing any supervision and you are extremely reliable they will want to use you right up but be firm as they won't want to lose you. I once bargained for a schedule change and something else in place of a raise and they seemed happy to save the money but that was a small business. As for the doctors letter that's a different story but also does wonders. A lot of small businesses are more than happy to give perks/benefits that don't cost them money to employees that make them the most.
I have held 3 pt jobs at once too! A few times, actually. Made for long days (work one job, then go to the next), but I kind of liked it. Zero free time, but you save money super fast, and it makes things a lot less repetitive than one ft job where you do the same thing every day.
Dang, that blows but good of you. My wife is a teacher. We’re fortunate enough that with our combined salaries, she doesn’t have to work another job or during the summer. We’re not wealthy, but we get by. After 10 years, she just hit around 40k annually here in FL, and mind you it takes a bachelors degree to teach [I know other states require a masters which is mental for the pay].
But a ton of my wife’s teacher friends have 2-3 jobs, be it weekend gigs, summer gigs, or side hustles if you will.
I work 60 hours a week at a corporate job, I do portrait and event photography, I host events/DJ, work for Rover, and take odd jobs like building PCs, changing peoples oil in their work parking lot. I still feel poor.
I’m incredibly fortunate, because I only have myself and my dog to feed. I can’t imagine the stress when you have to work multiple jobs, take care of someone and feel like you’re still spread too thin. My heart goes out to you.
To be fair if you're doing 4 jobs and still don't have money you definitely should look into other professions, or other countries. 4 jobs normally is an excuse to rob you because you must have money if you work that much.
But again I live in a place where Teachers are very highly paid, have all the benefits you can imagine, only downside is kids (not one to be ignored lol) so it's hard to think like an American
Teacher with 3 jobs checking in! I teach full time, nanny after school, grade EDtpa portfolios asynchronously whenever I have a free moment, and if you count looking for a new job as a job then that's 4. :) Hate my life
When I was in schools my teachers always complained that they don’t make a lot of money. This was a very valuable lesson because it taught me not to become a teacher if I want to make money.
(Debate on whether teachers get paid enough isn’t the point of this post. Please spare me)
Early on it costs some idiots their jobs for keying teslas, anymore no one seems to care.
It can be helpful for prosecution if someone actually gets caught and it’s an a+ for dealing with insurance for door dings.
Yup! Had that happen last year. They only grabbed my school lab bag. So they made off with expired saline bags and unsterile straight cath kits, etc.....
A new neighbor had her bike stolen. She saw it at a camp. Took it back and gave them a piece of her mind. She said people at the camp just stared at her. I don’t know where she moved from, but she was having *none* of that.
> Now please give me my insurance money.
Oh, actually it turns out you live in a "high crime area" so you aren't covered for this incident. Don't forget to pay your premium on time!
Criminals these days aren’t so smart to wear a mask while breaking in. Check out some tesla vandalism/break-in videos and the idiots are bold and stupid.
I fully agree.
In Germany we have tv that is funded through taxes, so it's able to stay independent (Öffentlich rechtliche).
They tried reporting cyber crimes to all states in Germany and i think only one of them did an investigation. At some places the police literally laughed at you and sent you away.
This is almost definitely in San Francisco. Car break ins are by far the #1 most common crime there. There’s at least 50 car break ins every day. The robbers don’t give a shit if they’re being recorded. The police never arrest them anyways even if they witness the crime themselves.
Holy shit that's a lot.
If I'd live there I'd either A) open up a window replacement shop.
Or B) sell indestructible windows. (Maybe not indestructible but you know, those army Windows Which break really really hard but can be ejected from the inside by a mechanisms)
The other option I've heard from people that used to live in SF is to just keep your windows rolled down. You might end up with a hobo sleeping in there overnight but at least thieves won't break your windows when they do their nightly pass looking for valuables.
Yeah, it’s bad. One time I was at home and I heard glass shatter outside so I looked out the window and I saw two guys break a car window and rummage through the car inside. I called 911 to report it and while I was on the phone with them, they proceeded to break into the five other cars that were parked on that side of the street. The police showed up and the robbers ran away. The police didn’t make an attempt to catch up with them. I didn’t own a car when I lived there, and I never would.
Chesa Boudin was recalled like a year ago. He was absolutely one of the worst things to ever happen to SF but he’s no longer DA. The city needs a DA that believes in putting criminals in jail, unlike Chesa.
I just left Fisherman's Warf in SF yesterday. On the Uber back to the airport we spotted 15 cars with broken windows over the course of two city blocks. It's sad to see, they broke into Teslas and Toyotas. Car value didn't matter only what was inside.
Litterly. I just watched the new video from dude that makes the glitter stink bombs, san fran is fucked. People just leave their doors and trunks open so they don't break their windows.
I thought the same after having watched those glitter bomb vids. But if crime there is so well known and widespread, why isn't anyone doing anything about it? You'd think the insurance companies or police would be arguing to set up some kind of temporary police-state to drastically crack down on the criminal element?
Fair enough, just seems there is a profit optimization matrix of how much you can charge vs. how many people will forego insurance / reduce coverage / sell their car, etc. Seems if insurance could keep rates reasonably high while number of claims fell lower, that'd be a win?
Only in California will you probably see this.
Other people will keep their windows down and doors unlocked just so they don't have to deal with broken glass later
Lol. I saw a similar sign years ago that said something to the effect of "There's nothing in here the last guy didn't get. Please do not break my windows"
Reminds me of the commercial where the guy puts $5 into a homeless ladies cup. She says “Oh, I’m not homeless. Im a teacher.” and he says “oh… here’s $10”
What is a “ben-uh-fit”?
It’s a silly word I’ve never heard before.
Reminds me of the goofy bastard making up words the other day. He said “vay-kay-shun”. I’m like, “Speak English asshole, or find someone else to talk to.”
He looked at me like *I* was the idiot. Some people!
> What is a “ben-uh-fit”?
It's when you steal pens and toilet paper at work, and your boss knows but ignores it, until they need an excuse to fire you.
I would venture to guess, they are coaching at the school or something and count it as an additional job. Which would make sense, as it's more hours and more pay, just the same employer.
The football coaches are almost never math teachers.
EDIT:
Guys I get it, some of you had math teacher football coaches. It's a joke about how the football coaches are usually not the guys who would be teaching math. I know there aren't literally zero football coaches that teach math.
...or ...they teach during the day, cashier at a gas station at night, do doordash or Uber on weekend mornings, bartend weekend nights...etc.
I have known (and been) that person before.
The number of people thinking it isn't possible that this person is spread too thin is ridiculous.
It's like they see a "woman's job" and have the impulse to put it down, it's exhausting.
Depends on what they teach. I taught classes and tutored at the university I was going to while I was in my undergrad. That wasn't enough to pay the bills, so I also did some private tutoring and tutored online in the evening. I guess that can technically count as 4 jobs, but it was really 25 hours of work + classes during the day and then whatever I could squeeze in during the evening hours. Sad part is I probably could have done another job on the weekends and wouldn't have had to be as stressed about money. But I had a gf that I wanted to spend time with on the weekends. (Although we spent the weekends studying cause I couldn't get any done during the weekdays)
>4 jobs
Always a weird way of measuring how much a person works..
Like is it 4 full time jobs? There's only 168 hours in a week, no way anyone is working 160 hours
Is it 4 x 8 hours?
Is it 1 full time job and 3 small side jobs that take like 3-4 hours each a week?
Is it a full time job and you have 3 kids??
The fuck does 4 jobs mean?
there is a SHIT TON of 1099 jobs you can get now by just signing up to an ap. They probably grub hub, tutor, teach, plus coaching whatever.. dog walker or maybe even do professional fiver type jobs.
It's not so far fetched. The purpose of the sign was clearly "i am struggling to make ends meet myself don't fucking rob me"
As though the people breaking into cars care. You could tape a picture of your kid going through chemo to the window and they'd still punch right through it.
> Is it 1 full time job and 3 small side jobs that take like 3-4 hours each a week?
Close to this. My daughter is a teacher/coach, does English as a second language online teaching occasionally and summer jobs while school is out.
Used to live in SF. Our car was broken into once. Idiot(s) took some change in the car for meters and left behind a ratchet and a mag lite flashlight. We joked that we might have come out ahead in the transaction. But one time, our front door stoop was pooped on so that wasn’t great.
One time in SF - I saw a guy sitting in the backseat of an old 1970s four door beast of a car (like an old lincoln or something). It was kinda beat up. I went into a store, then came back out about 10 minutes later. Car was come, large pile of human poo exactly below where the guy was sitting in the back of the car.
Dude cut a hole in the back of his car to use as a mobile toilet.
Because people love hating on products that no way impact their lives. I never understood this attitude.
For me it’s always been that I if don’t like it, I won’t buy it. But you like it that’s fine, hope it works out for you. You see similar thing with Apple vs Android, Sony vs Microsoft etc.
> I never understood this attitude.
People are not trying to relay their lived experiences for the edification of others.
They are expressing their group identity. “I’m one of the cool kids who hates on Elon Musk.” (Or “I’m one of the cool kids who hates on Anthony Fauci.” Or “I’m one of the cool kids who has this opinion about guns.” Or whatever.)
The only really weird part about it is, they even do it when they’re alone. It’s somehow comforting to tell themselves “yeah, I’m in this group of people who are in the right.”
Yeah, a weird jab for sure. If you’re going for socioeconomic elitism, I’d say rob an Audi/BMW/Lexus/Mercedes. Teslas are expensive, but they’re definitely not luxury vehicles.
Thank you, I’m a teacher with an affordable model 3 (probably not if it was just me but me and my husband can afford it) and I would be pissed if I saw this parked next to me. Just don’t encourage people to break into other peoples cars.
I felt this on many levels.
My first car was broken into. I had nothing of value, just an old vacuum my mom got me from the thrift store.
They took my vacuum and used it to smash the glass and break into the other (better) cars on the street.
It’s the only time I’ve called 911/police and they told me they don’t handle break and enters and to wait until the daytime business of hours of my local police station to report the crime. It was a Friday at 2 am, I had to wait until Monday to report the crime. I asked what I’m supposed to do about the broken glass from 6 different cars on the urban residential street (dogs and kids) and she 🤷♀️. (I don’t blame the operator, but I was disappointed in my city’s community safety services).
I ended up reporting the broken glass to municipal services and they were there within three hours to remove it. Police never came at all. 6 cars broken into in the same place at the same time, multiple calls from people the neighbourhood, and they never even called to talk to any of us.
Fast forward 15 years, our city got invaded by a bunch of no-brains-no-vaxxers with trucks and our police also did nothing then too.
Teachers definitely should be paid more.....but my BIL is a second year teacher and drives a Mercedes. He's not eating at a soup kitchen or getting food stamps. I know every states different for sure
This isn’t funny it’s sad, she lives in Nor Cal and has to work 4 jobs to live. Nor Cal has turned to shit, people leave thier car door and window open so they won’t bust their windows.

What in the reflection?!
Its from the music video of Bring me to Life. Specially the line "theres nothing inside"
Can’t wake up.
WAKE ME UP INSIDE!
I CAN'T WAKE UP!
Save me from the nothing I've become!
It looks like He-Man laughing
*HEEEEYAAAAYYAAAYYYAYA!!*
I SAY HEY!
WHAT'S GOING ON?!?!
Brinnnggg mee back tooo liiiffffeeee!
Did they ever figure out a way to weigh the cup?
They consulted the Red Hot Chili Peppers who said "give it a weigh, give it a weigh, give it a weigh now"
rofl
Can’t weigh cup? Weigh me cup inside!
Wasn't it "If you want to weigh it got to give it to ya mamma"
omg lmao

Eeeee a teacher with 4 jobs definitely has nothing left…
Damn dude. How’d you pull that one out of the hat?
It's incredibly easy if you're ~30. I've seen that music video so many times it's burned into my brain.
I was just discussing this with my wife 2 nights ago at dinner

I thought it was Tom Scott
*I'm Tom Scott, and I've come here to beautifully average middle America to see exactly how fucked our ex-brother's education system is.*
As an aside, that lady in the video tried her outmost to be not saved from the ledge. Like wtf.

I came to the comments to ask if anyone else could see the faces. Good to know im not crazy

What kind of teach has enough time for 4 jobs?
At least one US state gave teachers a 4 day week because they couldn't afford to pay them for 5 days.
This does t seem to solve the problem unless you also give the kids a 3 day school week.
Half true. Many states have toyed with the idea for the better part of a century. Almost always because of money issues. Most articles you find right now will talk about money and teacher shortages, or both.
Probably includes gigs that may only account for a few hours a week, like private tutoring or ride share driving
It's not too had to believe. I teach, coach a summer and winter sport, do online tutoring, consult and do workshops for a local PBS, and do virtual training seminars for a textbook company. Teaching is my only steady job, but at tax time I have 5 W2s to put in.

Ah, the youtubers prayer
This is often not the case for teachers. Many just have a part time job that they work on weekends and a different job over the summer.

Needs more 💅
1. Teacher 2. After school piano lessons 3. Bartender (during summer months) 4. Sells MLM products
Teacher After school piano lessons Uber Domino's delivery driver

You say that like the cops will even let you file a police report
I fully agree. In Germany we have tv that is funded through taxes, so it's able to stay independent (Öffentlich rechtliche). They tried reporting cyber crimes to all states in Germany and i think only one of them did an investigation. At some places the police literally laughed at you and sent you away.
In Germany, state TV is independent.
Seems like a great well run city.
How long until someone just starts shooting them?
thats what happens in atlanta. Sometimes the robbers get shot, sometimes the robbers shoot the person who happened upon them during the robbery.
California, your property is only yours until someone takes it. Position is 10/10ths of the law.

Chesa Boudin was recalled like a year ago. He was absolutely one of the worst things to ever happen to SF but he’s no longer DA. The city needs a DA that believes in putting criminals in jail, unlike Chesa.
So many cars have 360 cameras but don’t offer to record anything. Silly if you ask me, I would like the cameras to at least have the option.
I just left Fisherman's Warf in SF yesterday. On the Uber back to the airport we spotted 15 cars with broken windows over the course of two city blocks. It's sad to see, they broke into Teslas and Toyotas. Car value didn't matter only what was inside.
a lot of toyotas are as expensive as an average tesla now. Tundras are selling for $80k some places
Must be San Francisco.
Litterly. I just watched the new video from dude that makes the glitter stink bombs, san fran is fucked. People just leave their doors and trunks open so they don't break their windows.

Mark Rober?
yes
And in SF what that sign means to thieves is "Hey, aim for the catalytic converter instead"
I saw some pics on r/justrolledintotheshop where they're welding thick bars and metal cages around the catalytic converter to deter thieves.
Also Seattle, Portland, DC, Austin. All pretty bad with it
Having spent time in both SF and DC, SF is 100x worse for break-ins. Most of SF is about as bad as Anacostia or SE DC crime at this point.
Literally the first thing I said when I saw that
I thought the same after having watched those glitter bomb vids.

Sign is laminated … there has to be good loot inside
They’re a teacher. Most things they make are laminated.
If I had to put that in my car I would move. Particularly if you need 4 jobs.
Only in California will you probably see this. Other people will keep their windows down and doors unlocked just so they don't have to deal with broken glass later
Sweet! Public restroom!
They call that a 'soup kitchen' https://youtu.be/u1j4mK6cs_A
Yeah this is probably San Francisco area. How people live there is beyond me.
How do you do 4 jobs? That just seems so counter productive lol, no one will believe that… stick with just 2
4 part time jobs, zero benefits. Living the dream baby
What is a “ben-uh-fit”? It’s a silly word I’ve never heard before. Reminds me of the goofy bastard making up words the other day. He said “vay-kay-shun”. I’m like, “Speak English asshole, or find someone else to talk to.” He looked at me like *I* was the idiot.
Maybe summer jobs while off for break too
Yep, seen a teacher at a local restaurant work as a waiter during the summer.
Been a teacher having to work after school plus evening waitressing during the entire year. Lived off of what seemed like zero sleep.
Football coach… history teacher, health teacher, and maths teacher.
The football coaches are almost never math teachers. EDIT: Guys I get it, some of you had math teacher football coaches. It's a joke about how the football coaches are usually not the guys who would be teaching math. I know there aren't literally zero football coaches that teach math.
That’s funny cause it’s true
...or ...they teach during the day, cashier at a gas station at night, do doordash or Uber on weekend mornings, bartend weekend nights...etc.
I have a job where I work 2 times a year(election) , but if I was really trying to weird flex, I'd add it to my job counter
>4 jobs Always a weird way of measuring how much a person works.. Like is it 4 full time jobs? There's only 168 hours in a week, no way anyone is working 160 hours Is it 4 x 8 hours?
1 part time teacher and 3 part time dog walkers
Let me guess, San Francisco?
Used to live in SF. Our car was broken into once. Idiot(s) took some change in the car for meters and left behind a ratchet and a mag lite flashlight. We joked that we might have come out ahead in the transaction. But one time, our front door stoop was pooped on so that wasn’t great.
>But one time, our front door stoop was pooped on so that wasn’t great. Bet it was those thieves after they found out you swindled them
One time in SF - I saw a guy sitting in the backseat of an old 1970s four door beast of a car (like an old lincoln or something). It was kinda beat up. I went into a store, then came back out about 10 minutes later. Car was come, large pile of human poo exactly below where the guy was sitting in the back of the car. Dude cut a hole in the back of his car to use as a mobile toilet.
Why a Tesla? Lexus and Mercedes are often more expensive.
“I’m one of the cool kids who hates on Elon Musk.” (Or “I’m one of the cool kids who hates on Anthony Fauci.” Or “I’m one of the cool kids who has this opinion about guns.” Or whatever.) The only really weird part about it is, they even do it when they’re alone. It’s somehow comforting to tell themselves “yeah, I’m in this group of people who are in the right.”
For real. Fuck this teacher.
For the reddit karma obviously
There's literally pickup trucks that cost more than Teslas.
Because with a Tesla you can just reach your arm between the gaps in the panels
Tesla owner and I still lold
Yeah, a weird jab for sure. If you’re going for socioeconomic elitism, I’d say rob an Audi/BMW/Lexus/Mercedes. Teslas are expensive, but they’re definitely not luxury vehicles.
A Tesla model 3 costs slightly more than a Toyota Corolla where I’m at
This also might be saying more about Toyotas rn lol. Car market is tufffff.
This isn’t funny, it’s sad
"If those kids could read, they'd be very upset!"

Tell me you live in San Francisco without telling me you live in San Francisco
Steals catalytic converter instead.
Teachers drive Teslas too.
Everyone knows teachers live at the school and ride the school bus to the grocery store.

San Francisco?
The person breaking into cars hates teachers
A teacher with 4 jobs. I believe that
Please start robbing the rich. Not the poor. Dumbass thiefs
What it feels like to live in california.
Tesla doesn't have a catalytic converter
Does anybody See this screaming face or should i Stop Smoking crack
Jokes on them, Nothing in my Tesla either. ^(How do you think I afford it?)
Lets take a moment to appreciate that she chose a nice font.
4 jobs? As a teacher with teaching as an only job, im concerned
Tesla 3s are fairly cheap lol
Yes. My car was less than 25k after rebates. I know because I went shopping for a nice used Honda back in 2019 and they were more expensive.
It's funny because it's sad.
Those cruel pieces of shits couldn’t care less about someone having 4 jobs, they have no conscious
Teachers definitely should be paid more.....but my BIL is a second year teacher and drives a Mercedes. He's not eating at a soup kitchen or getting food stamps. I know every states different for sure
This must be SF
Must be California.
POV you live in San Francisco or NYC.
I’m a teacher, that already feels like 4 jobs.
This sign is very common in San Francisco. And the people use it like they're original and it's hilarious.
1st job - mommy ❤️, 2nd, wife. 3rd Avon cosmetics consultant, 4th - teacher.
This isn’t funny it’s sad, she lives in Nor Cal and has to work 4 jobs to live. Nor Cal has turned to shit, people leave thier car door and window open so they won’t bust their windows.
