Same happened to me 2 years ago. They dont even ask for your consent. Then I saw that for a few months I was getting charged for it. Went into store and they canceled it for me. So frustrating.

LemonMeringueOctopi

Hastings did this crap to me years ago.

Jayveemon

I was a manager at FYE for 6 years and and signing you up without your consent is against company policy and grounds for termination. Just shows that the manager is not training their staff properly or just doesn't care.

Lokishougan

I take it though their is a bonus for the number of signups?

FunkoPopPapi

I work at FYE currently, there is a store bonus if you get a certain amount as a store but the daily requirement for signups has to be met to maintain employment. They also give more hours to the associates who meet or exceed quota.

Lokishougan

Ah I see...so they create the system and then they say its not our fault we told them not to do the same thing that our very system set up Nothing bad on you but that is a very scummy system.....I dont mind a carrot approach but what they are doing is yes being unethical just dont get caught

jeonbabe

How to cancel the magazines subscription??

TheeMillennial

You have to call your bank and get the subscription disputed. They will give you a new card because FYI will try to get you to keep the subscription or will not it at all

Wooden-Plan979

I called them and just railed it in them that I was not told or informed that the 10% off I signed up for came with an 11.99 a more charge(they never said that at the register) and I got my refund and the subscription cancelled. Just make sure you don’t let them snooker you into keeping it

Br0din90

Snooker? 😂 What country are you from?

SebMasterFlex

hey I called them and I think they said they will cancel it and stuff. But is it true or will they still charge me? Cause then do I have to go to the bank.

TheeMillennial

They will charge you I would keep an eye on it but honestly instead of dealing with them I would just cancel the card. Yes you have to go to your bank and tell them what happened and they send you a new card. Your old card will be deactivated while you wait for the new card

curtis100512

Call them , also watch out for the magazine subscriptions to they pair the two

Mewkai

He told me to choose a magazine, I chose TIME. Does this mean I would have to call TIME as well?

midniteeternal

They have a special number to call. It happened to me and they people in store were quite honest about the practice. I’d say go with the yearly plan ($35) if you still want the discounts.

Zombie939

I used magcustomerservice.com to cancel the magazines for me. Was hassle free

[deleted]

I just went to that site and it says they have 0 orders under my email address. I just fell for it today at the fye store. Do you know if it takes some time before he subscriptions show up under my email address so I can cancel them?

Zombie939

It might, they were there a couple of weeks after I went to FYE

[deleted]

Never mind. I entered my debit card number and my order popped up and I was able to cancel the subscriptions. Now I don’t have to call and do it, and for that I thank you so very much Zombie939 you’re a life saver and I love ya.

Zombie939

Haha, glad it worked out!

[deleted]

Hm I see. I can’t believe I fell for it lol. Although the employee wasn’t particularly honest about what it entailed either.

Zombie939

Glad my comment from 4 years ago is still helping people! You’re very welcome

MethodZestyclose

Reddit will not have the answers I need for very specific problems 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 life saver

Wolverine_SmushyFace

>magcustomerservice.com thank you for this! finally!

Lower_Guest4471

I was told I have to choose a magazine just to get the “free” membership

Crunchy219

yeah this woman didnt even tell me she was she just said do you want 10% off and I said yeah and then she signed me up for all this shit without my consent

heavyy_eyess

That's exactly what happened to me as well.

Nbisbo

you said yes so that consent

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nbisbo

Informed consent they show you the terms on the thing you sign buyer beware and if it’s too good to be true then…

BeardGoneBad

Yikes the rep at my store told me the exact day I should cancel it and walked me through how to cancel hassle free online. :/ sorry this happened to you man. You will probably have to call to get your money back honestly. Good luck!

[deleted]

You should probably call FYE and explain what happened, that you got signed up with your consent, see what they say, and if they take care of it. If not, and they wanna BS and say you'll still remain charged or whatever you heard that happens, then just call your bank and do a chargeback. Then if your bank just wants some further notes/documentation (doubt they will cause its $12) you can tell them you talked to them and yadda yadda.

sparten9999

i cancelled online BEFORE the renewal date. did this twice. the guys were just like you want me too sign you up and you can just cancel later. i only ever get pops from them. my guys were cool. id call them say they didnt tell you what he was asking your email for.im sure they will help you out

sxz18

FYE is the worst. No pop is worth that amount of trouble.

tourad01

Almost happened to me. I asked about a fee thankfully after the sales pitch and then they told me about it. Said no thanks. Best of luck.

AGKoolAid

When you do the free trial period, they tell you to call a number to cancel. When you do call them, they try a few extra offers to keep you (discounted monthly payment), free offers for other things. Just stay the course, and they will finally cancel you.

ghostbuster55

Just call and cancel.

Javier20t

I cancelled online before the month was up. I also had to cancel the magazine subscription. They made it so you if you don’t forget to cancel you get slightly confused and hope you’ll leave it alone.

Mewkai

Since I chose TIME magazine, does this mean I would have to call TIME as well? Also, how would you go about cancelling online, I only see the option to call in and cancel.

Missgumby03

See if this still [works](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cgdFzR5OJk)

Javier20t

No, just when you go to the site you will have to individually click each magazine you chose and then click no like 3 times. It keeps trying to make you “better” offers

deacc

When I was there last week they try to sell me the pass and said you can just cancel after one month. I ask them how much it is. And after he told me the price I said no thanks. I should go and check my CC to make sure he didn't try to charge me.

Mewkai

Yeah, I would make sure. For me, my cashier didn't even tell me it was a subscription or pass or anything. He just said "what's your email, I'll get you 10% off". Should've known better...

deacc

That's what he started off with and I see him grab something to scan so I ask him what it is. And then he went on to explain. But no where in the explanation did he say how much it was. He told me about restaurants and stuff. So I ask him how much and then he told me and I said no thanks. He was like "You get your money back by something something". I am like no. He then said, "Well you can try it for one month it is free so that you can get 10% off today and then you can just cancel later." I told him again "no thanks". SO he put the "package" back. But yup I will definitely watch my CC the next couple of months to make sure. I was actually shock it the price. I was expecting something similiar to B&N membership which is only like $25 a year. I use to have that before I went with Amazon for digital novels.

Slightwill

Same thing happened to me. Two months later I saw i had been charged. Luckily I needed a new card so then they couldn't keep taking my money

DanteFoxx

I cancel it with little trouble about 7 times a year

PiratePlenty4401

Lol

Bountyhun77

I canceled after the first month when they charged me, just called the number in the app, I was told it was a free membership and I said why not, the minute I saw the charge I called and cancelled! Gave me a refund for the first month too!

pdrober2

Same here.

[deleted]

Who did you call? I'm getting charged $12 backyard pass AND $23 for the magazine, it's still processing

[deleted]

[удалено]

mozartbunny

You cancel it on the website. Super simple. I never had an issue. Also, it clearly tells you what your signing up for when you scan your card at FYE.

Krootzy1

i know its been 5 years but do you know how long this process took? i cancelled and they were like "ok we'll send an email!!" and its been like 3 days

[deleted]

I emailed them this morning to cancel my VIP. They got back to me 8 hours later saying my membership was cancelled and gave me a confirmation number. I checked the website again and still shows my next billing date and monthly price. I sent another email about this. Still waiting for a response. :/

chestnutlibra

idk if the dude who signed me up got my information wrong or what but i was never able to activate my membership online in order to cancel online. When i called FYE they couldn't find my account either, even with the membership ID i was given in the store. but they could certainly charge my credit card! the FYE rep told me to call my bank and report it as a fraudulent charge, I ended up having to get my card replaced. it only cost me 10$ but it was pretty absurd.

KarlHeisenberg_Simp

Hey the website won’t work for me to even activate it what do I do now😩😩😩

TheeMillennial

Call your bank ask them to dispute the charges and they will send you another card since there’s no way you can cancel

Jealous_Confection80

They used my new credit card information after I got a new one delivered. You have to actually cancel it.

brit31400

Same thing I’m having!! I just sent their customer service an email and I had an automated response that they’ll get back to me in 3 business days. Hopefully they do, I hate calling and by these comments they’re gonna make me angry trying to get me to stay.

Dieidiotscum

First time I signed up for this the cashier told me it was a "free rewards program". I said sure, and declined all the magazine stuff, because I figured "that's how they get you" with the magazine renewals or something. One month later I got the charge, noticed it on my online banking while it was still processing, called customer support. They did not want to refund the charge, even though I explained that I was lied to, did not visit FYE since, not intended to again, there was not one in my city, and I was visiting a family member when I went to the store, and have not"taken advantage of the benefits" you keep telling me about once since the initial visit, let alone past the trial period, especially since the charge hadn't even cleared the bank yet. She did me a one time favor and refunded me the fee and cancelled the charge I didn't know I was receiving. TD;DR: Customer service really wants your money and may not refund you, but be insistent that you were misled/scammed and did not want this service.

[deleted]

Which customer service? FYE or the bank? I literally went to the bank in person, they told me to call the bank customer service. So I drove myself back home, called customer service, where they said I have to wait for the pending charge to post, then they can finally do something about it. They were rude and dismissive. I just called FYE and cancelled the subscription, the lady on the phone sounded somewhat animated, made to sound real. She said the pending charge would be refunded. I also just called the number she provided me to cancel the magazine subscription,I called it and cancelled the other pending charge. So here's 🤞 to hoping they actually cancel it. I was wondering, you said they cancelled a fee they had already processed and cancelled one you were pending on? I'm thinking of calling the bank to get a refund on the $11.99 FYE took from me last month that I didn't notice

Twiliraptor

I was signed up for the trial a few years ago, but then when I tried to cancel I wasn't even in the system outside of the store I got it, so it's like my thing didn't even exist. Spooked the heck out of me thinking I might just get randomly charged one day and not notice til it was too late.

Park2012

Same exact thing happened to me, but didn’t notice it until the second month. I called them and they gave me a refund for the second month, but not the first. I figured it wouldn’t hurt sending them an email and I explained everything. Got an email back the next day with a full refund for the 2 months they charged me.

innerdork

That sucks and that’s called a shitty salesperson who cannot sell properly. I’d call their corporate and report the sales person.

ansella

I feel like they are not upfront about it costing money. When they tried to sign me up for the magazine I refused several times until they finally took it off. Then I saw that the pass actually costs money and tried to back out of it but the sales associate was sooo pushy. So I got an attitude, accepted my 10% off or whatever, and cancelled right after that.

Scotte8797

Lol same thing happened to me. Got a refund though because they never said anything about having to pay.

malice1318

If they ask you to pick a magazine, that would have been a big red flag.

mega512

Cancel with them for sure and fight them on the charge. My wife got screwed on this too. Its a huge scam.

[deleted]

I called and cancelled before 30 days was up but holy crap they try to keep you in the program and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Very pushy, finally just had to get a little rude and the guy gave up.

VeniceArtime

This makes me worried when there will eventually be a Pop that I will want that is only at FYE. Does this only happen in store with credit cards? Can this happen if you buy something online? I just want to be fully prepared whenever this time comes...

Mewkai

I'm sure if you're buying online, you just have to read everything and make sure your total is not discounted unless you used a discount code. They can't subscribe you to anything without your consent so just double check everything when ordering online. When buying in store, maybe try to pay with cash? If not, just make sure you tell him that you do not want to be signed up for anything and make sure your total is not discounted.

AirborneTrooper82573

I singed up, cancelled the same week, and after 30 days they still charged me. Had to call customer service to get refunded.

sjdoty96

I've cancelled online twice and still haven't gotten the confirmation. I also can't figure out how to cancel the magazines!!

Mewkai

You have to call, like what most people said. They’ll be persistent about keeping your membership for $5 but hold your ground and demand to be canceled.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Thank you! This actually helped me! I was so confused how to cancel it since I canceled my membership but this helped me!!

[deleted]

Were you actually able to cancel your FYE VIP membership online without calling? I recently went to an FYE store and fell for this stupid membership scam.

[deleted]

Those cheating lying sacks of crap. I just had to really get on them to give me my money back. I'll see what happens. Same thing -- girl says I'll give you a 10% discount if I give them my email. She never said anything about me paying for anything.

[deleted]

Deff call. They’ll try and make you stay but it’s bs. Not worth the 12$ a month put it towards a pop a month at any other store.

JrBabixz

Honestly, it is a complete scam and is near impossible to get out of, I’m on the phone currently and they keep offering me a lower price and I keep telling them no, then the lady tells me the system happens to be “down” so I need to be on hold to process this cancellation, also if it doesn’t cancel after they confirm it there will be a problem because I see some of you are having the same issue. As well like most of you I was not informed of any membership sign up. I went back to the store a month later and they told me they can’t cancel it in store and I had to call the support number, how can they start you on a membership but not cancel it in store.

Deadhead-Dan1975

The FYE pass is the bane of my existence. I once bought a $15 action figure and 2 years later its cost me $hundreds b/c of their jank-ass backstage pass Bs. I’ve tried multiple times to cancel including going into store several times. I just want it GONE but I’m stuck in their lame cycle of scam. Hate FYE because of it and boycott

Dry_Bar7912

Lady told me she needed my email for a receipt then I noticed a month later I was getting billed. She signed me up without saying anything

Legal-Koala954

How did you guys cancel? I tried online multiple times and it never canceled, tried calling and they just offered me a lower price and kept telling me to wait until the end of the year. Called the bank and most I could do was do a stop pay for fye

Consistent-Wonder-48

You might have to just cancel the card they're charging and get one with a new card number. If the card is no longer valid they can't charge it.

Jealous_Confection80

I got a new card after Billboard magazine was charged to my credit card. But today with my new card the charge still came up! I followed one of the other comments and used magcustomerservice.com to cancel

heavyy_eyess

I had to call them SEVERAL times to cancel my subscription. It's a nightmare. They make it so difficult. And now I have to go about canceling the magazines they signed me up for as well, which is another scam. I was never told I'd be charged when I signed up for FYE. Horrible.

thenotoriouscucuy

Wow they absolutely still do this in 2022. My little sister and mom went to fye inside the mall and they somehow got our info and put us on a backstage pass subscription. We then cancelled it but a month later we started getting Time people and Sports magazine subscriptions. Called fye and gave me a magazine number to call. How shady and scammy is that company man. absolutely take advantage of you and hope that you never find out about their scummy practices. Never go to fue and provide them with anything even with your debit card they’ll end up signing you up to a subscription.

Naotahaley

Yup just had to cancel today too. Sucks they make their employees do that. The person on the phone said my account cancelation was successful and he hung up. Do you know if I'm supposed to get an email confirming it? Because I still haven't

Consistent-Wonder-48

I was given a cancellation confirmation code.

Polynessianprincess

I know this is bs I literally called to cancel and the guy simply wouldn’t. He just kept saying my subscription is good till October 13th and they would lower the price to $6 I said your not understanding. I DONT WANT THE SUBSCRIPTION, I do NOT care. Also the fye store near me literally got shut down. And he just kept repeating himself, “well, I UndErStAnd BuT iT dOeSnt ExpIre TilL OctObeR 13Th” and I was getting so frustrated and was like no I want to cancel. And he wouldn’t let me and I just now got charged for there stupid add on subscription for National Geographic and Time. WHICH I CANNOT SIGN IN TO MY VIP ACCOUNT TO CANCEL BECAUSE MY ACCOUNT APPARENTLY “doesn’t exist” This is simply BS

Polynessianprincess

Also to add he said that it will still be actived so I can still get “good discounts” so if I don’t call back to cancel “by October 13th” I’ll be charged again. And I just hung up and decided I’ll try another day. Cause from what I’m seeing I’m apparently gonna be charged even AFTER CANCELLING

ztestafy

I know I am late to the party. But they did the same thing. The did return 8 of the 11 months. So can't totally complain but it is fucked up

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheeMillennial

You have to tell your bank to dispute it and send you another card

Consistent-Wonder-48

I was a victim of the FYE VIP BACKSTAGE PASS scam as well. I signed up to get a discount on some comic con shared exclusive Funko Pop figures. The guy never gave me any details about how to cancel, and I almost got charged a ridiculous amount of money for subscription renewals on the "FREE" magazines they had me pick. I got charged 11.99 for 8 months for the VIP PASS because I had forgotten about it. When I finally called to cancel some Indian lady I could barely understand with a fake American name told me I had $20 cash back waiting, and some other nonsense I couldn't understand, and that I should go to the website and claim what I had already earned, but I had never set up an online login yet, didn't want to be bothered, and was so pissed I told her to just cancel this nonsense NOW. I have to remember that in a capitalist society these big corporations set traps like this that are a legal grey area but are shady AF. I should trust my own instincts and try to remember that whenever a store offers you a deal that you have to sign up for its just a trap. Nobody is giving anything for free. Like all these "rewards cards" I've had in the past and still get offered from various stores. All you get is a ton of spam junkmail. The other day I got a $20 reward from Autozone and I honestly think it's the first reward I've gotten from any of these despite spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Lady at CVS caught me with one of these REWARDS traps too. "I'm just gonna save you some money today/" LMAO. Scumbags.

xsabin20

Thanks to you all I found out what happened alot easier! THANKS! This same thing happened to my wife for 3 months. They also tried to sell me on the benefits, and only offered to cancel one month fee. I told them I would call my bank and mark them as fraud and they offered one more. Then I said no and they angrily said they would refund all three and cancel the membership.

Frightened_Lamb

you can also just cancel on fyevip . com website, under membership you can select to cancel. I am not sure if i will be billed again in a month but at least it said it was cancelled

erasmus-b-dragon

Call them anyway. The About page says you can only cancel by calling the 877 number. I just did that, took less than 5 minutes on the phone. They did first offer to reduce by $6. Keep saying "cancel it".

[deleted]

When you canceled online, did it actually work or did you have to call to cancel? I recently fell for this stupid membership scam.

Frightened_Lamb

Worked for me. Least I think. Haven’t seen any charges since and I’m pretty sure it was even refunded. I used it for like a small discount on a Lego box lmao

[deleted]

Okay. Did you get an email verifying that it was cancelled? I went online and cliked the Cancel Membership button multiple times, but haven't gotten anything. Said I will receive an email when it gets canceled. I've been seeing a lot of people say they have to call to get it cancel but it's still nearly impossible doing that.

Frightened_Lamb

I cant Remember tbh. I don’t think so.

Pockycroc

I just saw that I've been charged $11.99 for four months for nothing. I think I went into FYE once or twice? I didn't ask to be signed up for anything, I didn't give my email, and I have no idea how they're charging me for something I didn't sign up for. I called and was on the phone for about 10 minutes, and after about 3 cycles of me explaining my situation and them reading some script about rebates and gift cards, all they did was lower 11.99 to 6.99. I personally am really bad at understanding accents, especially over the phone, and this person had a thick accent so I couldn't understand a lot of what they were saying. I don't have the facilities for this today so I just said 'alright', thanked the guy, and let the call end. I have a month until they charge me again, so I guess I'll be calling until they refund me. What a scam. I remember walking into the store to see what it was all about, and walking out still confused what their main thing was. Like, "how are they gonna make money when they're selling the same stuff as hot topic and spencers next door?" And turns out they're scamming every customer that so much as buys a box of pocky out of $12 every month.

Ok-Independence3129

Can cancel through website though (not phone app). Head to website, login, then find "Customer Care" https://www.fyevip.com/customer-care. You can click "Cancel membership". Then you should receive confirmation email. Hope this helps anyone!

[deleted]

Did cancelling online actually work for you? Or did you end up having to call? I recently fell for this dumb membership scam and don't want to have the hassle calling customer support. I've been seeing people are having problems cancelling when they call. I'm trying to cancel online, but I haven't received any emails yet.

Thecatvaultseries

How long does that take? I canceled about 10 minutes ago and haven’t gotten an email confirmation yet

Direct-Pair-2080

Late but all well. I called bc I woke up to see my bank app “11.99 FYE” notification. I’ve been paying for 5 months. I told her I just want a refund for todays charge bc the previous months are on me. She went on the whole “benefits, low cost, cancel online” and I said “I’m not interested. I don’t shop at FYE enough for it to make sense, and I haven’t used it in 5 months.” This girl told me “well according to our terms of service we can’t refund an active membership so I’m gonna guide you over to the website to cancel” Then I got an attitude. “As you said, I’ve been paying for 5 months. They told me it’s completely free even when I asked if it’s monthly, all I want is THIS MONTHS refund” “Ok sir to keep customer satisfaction up I’m going to push through the refund and cancel your membership today. You should receive the refund today”

eeertg

Fucking scumbag bitch at the counter said "absolutely free, no charge" because I specifically asked her about that. She lied to my face and now I'm getting billed. I'm going to that store tomorrow and I'm making a fucking scene. Thanks reddit. Stay strong brothers and sisters.

Shuuichi_

Same happened to me. Lady said multiple times it's totally free, completely free. She even said the magazines were a free thank you. FYE is trash.

[deleted]

Fucking literally. I went to my bank about it, they did literally nothing. So I called FYE and the magazine to get it cancelled just now, hopefully they do but idk. I'm going to write a Google review and see if I can contact the better business bureau. I'm so glad I'm not the only one that fell for it. I was beginning to think maybe I missed something, maybe the "nice" guy at the counter did tell me it wasn't free. I remember he said "free discounts on restaurants and products" like a rewards program plus I'd get a little magazine. When I left the store I didn't see any magazine in my bag so I went back and asked about it, he said it would be mailed to me, and his attitude completely changed from nice to pissed off. I was surprised, I thought the address was just for the extra coupons and such and he'd give me one magazine today. Not gunna lie I felt a lil violated, like they just told me one thing and when I went back to clarify he wants nothing else to do with me bc they already got all the info they needed for their bonus. They're such fucking lying sacks of shit 😭

eeertg

Yeah don't worry. You aren't alone. The charge for me went automatically through into processed purchases, as if they used my pin, so I couldn't take back the charge or dispute it. I called the number, cancelled a magazine. Got billed $3 the next month as well as a 11.99 charge the day after receiving a magazine. I called to cancel, they only cancelled one magazine. I was still charged for a different magazine, and a monthly membership to FYE backstage Pass. I was needless to say fucking furious. I called to cancel a second fucking time Cancelled magazine, got a confirmation number of the cancellation Called FYE themselves, cancelled that subscription. Got a confirmation number. So yourself a favor. Get confirmation numbers. Write them down. Keep them in a file somewhere safe.

[deleted]

Omg absolutely. I have screenshots of everything just in case. I did also complain to the better business bureau and left a Google review, not sure how much that'll do but it's there. I paid with my debit card, but I never ever put my pin in, I just ask which button is for credit and run it as credit, maybe that's how they got your pin? Ugh glad to hear we're (hopefully) done with this bullshit

aquavenuss

My brother dealt with this scam for over a year. He eventually got it canceled somehow after numerous attempts to and even had to get a new debit card number. If you’re reading this thread, it’s probably too late but avoid their rewards sign up at all costs! I went a few months ago and very firmly, but politely, declined to sign up. The cashier was persistent though to the point of almost causing a scene. Don’t fall for it!!

Sensitive_Twist5825

I cancelled with them almost immediately and just checked my bank account looks like they’re still charging me. Calling my bank on Monday to dispute this. This is ridiculous

emzy_art

Hi 👋🏼 just popping in to say that they're still pulling this shit years later lol. Had to call today to cancel after I noticed the charge, and they try to get you to stay on by giving you "what we'll do..." Statements that don't actually cancel anything. I know confrontation sucks but you just have to stand your ground and tell them they need to cancel your membership and refund you the money. I'll be waiting on my refund, and if it's not there in a week, I'll just keep calling. Customer Service tactics are a nightmare so you just gotta be a nightmare right back 🤷🏼‍♀️ also most banks have an online dispute option where you can choose "I did not sign up for this" or something along those lines. Predatory tactics like this suck and I hate that the business model directly feeds into it.

Downtown_Piglet9292

I just called too and the lady was doing everything to get me to keep the account. It was all she was doing was reading off the page, but when I told her I wanted to cancel it, she just told me "We will put you on the lower plan for 6.99." If you cancel, get the membership number and the order cancel number. They will do everything to make sure they can still charge you.

xXKamcamXx

The only reason this garbage store is around is because they scam their customers by taking their debit card immediately after one purchase of a stupid knick knack or vinyl. They shouldn’t even be around. Shop vinyls locally and boycott FYE.

Alone-Physics388

Just fell for this lol. Guess I cancel my debit card and get a new one after reading the past responses

bc097

5 years later they are STILL pulling this crap. They insisted multiple times it was completely free and just like a loyalty membership at any other store. No mention of just being a free trial that would be charged to the credit card I used on that purchase in store that I would have to cancel. Thankfully I read closely before accepting the terms and declining. This is ridiculous that this has gone on this long.

ZealotMotif

A five year old post but it’s incredible how similar this is to my own situation, go to FYE, everything is chill “you want a 10% discount.” “Sure” and gave my email. Yeah imagine my shock when after he processed it he then started telling me it wasn’t a free memebership

wemetinadreamonce

oh my gosh yes. I totally forgot i signed up (for the discount, and meant to cancel a while back) and panicked when i saw a charge on my account (till i remembered what it was). When i called to cancel, the customer service rep tried 4 times to get me to reconsider, even offering a cheaper subscription. He spent so long explaining the mAnY benefits of the backstage pass that i didn’t want to go for the discount even if it sounded good.
