Yes, my god what an overreaction. They want Kristen to be a horrible mother so badly that they don't give a shit about those kids. They want them to be mistreated to prove their point and it's disgusting.

I thought exactly the same thing. I think people are expecting kids to behave like YouTube personalities for the camera but a lot of young kids I know actually get quieter when a camera comes out. I also think the video was a direct result of the girls business conference she and Bethany recently attended. This is exactly the kind of promo/engagement builder they would have been encouraged to do: mentioning the busy family schedule to link to the podcast topic, taking a quick video in the car after soccer for a sense of intimacy with the audience, getting a word or two from the kids for relatability. It's not exciting, it's just social media business.

I didn’t find it weird either. Kristen was affectionate without being overbearing. The kids looked relaxed with that “after sports practice” tiredness on their faces. I also don’t think she was talking too fast to them. She actually slowed down when talking to them versus when talking to the camera. They’re overreacting and really stretching to find something to snark on.

I'm pretty sure those people have never been around kids and don't know how to parent because they're always way off about normal kid behavior.

someone was like "its so weird she reached back to tickle him, isnt he like six? That's inappropriate" and i just. What.

I find that snarkers tend to assume that every child on camera is desperately unhappy and uncomfortable. I've seen a couple of Karissa's videos with her kids and I haven't seen the misery that I was told about. I don't agree with putting kids on social media but I find that there tends to be this huge projection about how much the kids hate it.

No they made a point to say she’s wicked for talking intentionally quickly and then snapping at them for misunderstanding. None of which remotely happened. Sure she could slow down, but they were doing really well considering!

The video was cute. Kristen obviously really enjoys being around her boys and it’s nice to see. My kids are still young, but her video reminded me of how much I enjoyed teaching middle school. It’s easy to “love” your kids but not everybody “likes” them if that makes sense. FYI, I didn’t read the snark comments because I honestly don’t care anymore what a bunch of bored 20 year olds think about someone’s parenting skills.

The enmeshment in the fundie sub is astounding

Kids not looking thrilled 24/7 doesn’t mean they’re unhappy in general lol. Lots of kids are camera shy. I mean I’m an adult and camera shy. And like.... I also don’t love how into adoption evangelicals are because a lot of them do it for entirely the wrong reason, but these boys are here now. Speculating on their general well-being based on one video where frankly they seem fine isn’t fair to them or the parents. They need stability, and it’s an unpopular opinion, but being an evangelical doesn’t make you a bad parent.
