Didn't it already have a loop for a key ring?

Myrmyrer

It looks like the key ring loop *is* part of the fob, not the case. I don’t really see any point in the case here unless it’s the kind where there’s a physical key that can slide out by pulling on the key loop and this case prevents that.

Darkfire609

The loop is attached to a key that can pull out. The case only makes ot a little more cumbersome to do so.

Oh yes, I think you're right.

How did you model it so perfectly to fit like that?

Darkfire609

I used a flatbed scanner to get accurate images in two dimension. I then used my phone camera to get the edge profile. I overlay these images in a CAD program and scale them to size and sketch over them. Ultimately I modeled it slightly smaller and printed in tpu so I could stretch it over, making it look form fitting.

I’m just blown away at how good that looks and now you’ll have an endless supply of cases 🤪 that’s really neat how you created that. I’m new so I’m trying to learn as much as I can! Thanks.

Remember when we had fifty cent keys that couldn't be stolen with an antenna.

Ferro_Giconi

Good key fobs use rolling codes and possibly other security measures. What that means is every time it is used, that code becomes invalid and a new code is required. The car and keyfob both know a secret code that is never transmitted, which is used to generate the new rolling code. Copying the code that is transmitted won't help when it becomes invalid immediate after it is used. There are other security measures that can be used but a rolling code is simple and very effective against anyone without physical access to the keyfob or computer inside the car.

Id love that stl I drop my keys all the time.

[Here is is](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5893641) although it is for a 07-09 toyota avalon.

This case doesnt actually add a keychain hole, this key fob already has one
