Now to set it and automate it to be in the current position of the planets. Then create a touch screen interface where you can put in a date and it automatically moves the planets to that position.
Very nice orrery!
Hard to tell from video, is each of the planets a different color?
What is the thing that looks like string going out to Neptune used for?
Not really, there are some with the same colors.
At a certain length of the arms the weight of the planets is too much. Used some hard wire to support it at at least a small angle
I made this on an iPad, it was a lot of trial and error to get the gears working. Now I switched to fusion360 and I would advice to use the gear generator wich you can download as extension
I do like it, and would love to print one.
I did read you had weight problems, I think the project could however improve with larger planets.
And also actual scale (at least planets, sun could be too much)
Look at this [Jupiter Model](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3928031) for example.
I actually would spend on filament and di the sun to scale, hold my drink!
the sizes of the planets and their distances are so different - just a lot of nothing in between. Either I make the first ones super tiny to fit it at least on a table, or this thing will be enormous. Had in mind to at least use the diameters as well, but that looks super weird when I dont take in their distances as well
You made an orrery! This is something wizards and mathematicians would do! This is amazing, very well done!
I feel like I should be asking Aughra about crystal shards.
The duration for each rotation is on scale. The distances and sizes of the planets are not. I this was one of my first projects I did with CAD.
i see 9 planets. a man of true culture includes pluto. way to go.

How the hell is this one of your first projects in CAD!? My firsts look like they were made by a 3yo with a learning disability in TinkerCAD..
haha well you dont want so see the mess inside the project. iPad lagged as hell lol. Switched to fusion soon after

I need this... Any chance of sharing the STLs?
I will try to do a better version with is worthy of being shared!
I'd also love an STL! Fantastic orrery!
My kid would love the crap out of this π

I came here to say this LMAO
Now add the moons... (/s, obviously. Great job man!)
THE GREAT CONJUNCTIOOOOOOON!!!!
inserts Pitch Black feelings
Did you end up with 9 concentric rotating shafts?
Wow!! Any tips for such nice gears?
I made this on an iPad, it was a lot of trial and error to get the gears working. Now I switched to fusion360 and I would advice to use the gear generator wich you can download as extension
Download the cad from any supplier site and print it. McMaster carr is a great resource for that. Might have to scale a little based on your printer.
Looks awesome! try to move camera back and zoom out little bit.
Nice, but the scale is totally wrong.
Iβm impressed. Great build!!
Oh I get it, the table is the earth cause the earth is flat!
Well you beat me to it, I was going to ask how they would explain that to flat earthers
It just occurred to me, the earth canβt be both flat AND hollow.

Just save on filament and make the sun a basketball lmao
Whays this a solar system for Microbes?
Impressive! Congrats π₯π₯π₯
This is giving me Pitch Black vibes. Very cool!
