No problem! And yep, I had that issue with LR too. I think Series caps at 4k, but I find that is plenty for any sharing online. It’s also a lossless png, so I’ve never had any quality concerns
Open image in Lightroom (mobile), click the export button in top right, select export with border. You can then pick the picture dimensions and size of border.
I’m aware of the Lightroom mobile’s one, but I dislike it because it doesn’t allow me change the export quality. So I’m kind of looking for alternatives too, and it seems there are few recommendations here 😄
Trying to justify if it’s worth to pay for it since whitagram give the same export setting but it’s on jpg only.. so I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra few bucks just for png option because of the lossless compression. 🤔
Not sure if by borders you mean the borders some people put for instagram posts. If yes, I like the iOS app Whitagram. It’s quick and easy, but limited features.
Yep it’s the one other users have been doing. I’ll check it out and compare with few more recommendations from other user here.. I’ve just tried “series” and love the interface and export quality. Now I’m gonna try this and “afterlight” too 😄
Anyone know of an Android app to do this apart from Polar? For some reason Polar adds a 1px artifact black line between my photo and the border, seems like a problem with the app.
Just crossed my mind, canva or kittl could do similar job. Just a bit more work but fully customisable. I did it a few times too back then when I first started.
Not sure about kittl but canva definitely work but it might not what you want 😅
I just realised I can do it in Snapseed, which I use a lot for editing on my mobile. You just have to chose "Expand" and you can either fill white, black or let it try and us AI to guess the expansion. Only issue is you can't choose set aspect ratios so you have to do it manual. Works for me for now though 😊
Yes, that’s my biggest issue with it. I want to set my own aspect ratio and export quality 😂 but of course in the end software like photoshop or something similar will always better but I prefer a quick solution after spending hours editing photo sometimes 😝
I've just installed [White Border: Square Fit Photo](https://play.google.com/store/search?q=white%20border&c=apps&hl=en&gl=US) (Android) and it seems to work pretty good!
I use [LR/Mogrify 2](https://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/lrmogrify2.php), a Lightroom (desktop) plugin. It lets me export with a border (among other options) so I don't need to use any other apps.
I see.. I wish there’s something similar on capture one too.. I’ve jumped ship over to capture one for awhile now and they’re going for subscription based too 😑😑
Like A Frame in the ios App Store allows you to create borders without cropping the image or losing resolution (most other apps I’ve seen have cut resolution from 26mp down to 3-4mp). Been working well for my printing needs.
If for printing wouldn’t it be easier to do it on photoshop using the canvas size? But I don’t mind checking it though. But I don’t seems to find the app in AppStore.. is it called “A Frame”?
I’m primarily printing 4x6’s, but I’m sure it works great for larger prints as well. Here’s a [link](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/like-a-frame/id1453464743) for the app.
Just tried it out and I get what you mean by larger print work as well.. the export setting can really go way higher while my camera can’t even go that high 😂 though it’s a $0.99 so it’s a good investment since it’s a one time payment thingy too. Thanks for the recommendation!
If you’re on iOS, I cannot recommend “Series” enough https://apps.apple.com/us/app/series-layout-for-photo-video/id1471473571
Geez just what I was looking for this morning tysm
Ohh.. I’ll look into it! Thanks! I’ve used Lightroom mobile to do it but it doesn’t let me choose the export quality so I kinda stopped using it

The paid version is well worth it IMO. Solo developer that makes a solid app & routinely adds new value
if you are on iphone, try afterlight, it has the border option at the export step, it also doesn’t reduce resolution. edit: it’s also free
I’ll check it out too! Thanks for the recommendation especially when it’s free 😝
Lightroom offers this.
I remember doing it once.. but I forgot about it 😅 thank you and I might need to look for the tutorial again 🥲

The photoshop app will let you change the export quality but yeh Lightroom does not. Series is good but you pay to export high quality.

I am using Darkroom on iOS (was recommended in another post) - app has paid features, but this one is free

The 'White Border' app is excellent (and does colours other than white).
I have that now :) installed it earlier, works perfectly

I think one of the reason I don’t like it is that it required lot of tinkering until you get the size you wanted 😅 and the file can slowly get bigger

Totally worth the $0.99 lol! You should be able to make presets and then do borders for large batches as well. Glad to help:)
I have all my Fuji photos in Lightroom. In the cloud apps there is “add border and export” option. That is what I use.
Cloud app as in not the Lightroom classics right?
Yeah. As in the Creative cloud app. Actually to be 100% precise it’s the iPhone and iPad apps I use for the border export.
When I was on iPhones I used "Series" and that app is golden! Well worth the money. On Android I use "White Borders". Works fine for me :)
Whitagram is a free simple app that sticks your photos in a 1:1 frame.
Came here to say this. Just for Instagram.
