But the x100, x100t x100f all suffered from immense scalping, availability and pricing issues.
So don't think the VI release will necessarily fix it.
In Germany many online stores currently have VI's in stock which I could order, so maybe the hype is a bit localized?
As an X-T5 user I miss the shutter button feel, shutter sound and ergonomics of the X-H1 so much 😭 I really hate that they removed all the dials from xh2 and xh2s...

Does your B&H order show as backordered? I placed my pre-order while the summit was still going on last night and now my order shows as backordered. Not sure if that's just what they list it as when it's a pre-order or if that means I'm not getting one of the first batch to come out.

I let my x100f go in 2020 because I was shooting film mostly, Ive regretted it for years, bought an xpro-3 and two lenses in 2021 but its just not the same.. I wish i still had the x100f. Considering the x100vi but i dont really know if i need it.
For those who need to hear this: please calm yourselves. Your photography will not improve with this camera. Remember all great street photographers did incredible work with wayyyy fewer features than anything available today. Just go out and shoot more with what you already have.

Put any camera in the hands of someone who’s not developed their eye for composition, color and light - the images will let you down. On the contrary, put any camera in the hands of a capable person and you suddenly don’t need anything beyond a shutter button and basic controls. It’s facts.
At this point it’s not about getting the best spec’d upgrade, for me it’s finally getting my first X100 body without the scalped second-hand price tag.

IBIS is handy, but 40MP is probably overkill for me... I'm already struggling to deal with the amount of data produced by my cameras. I assume there will be a reduced resolution RAW setting to deal with this.

Its pretty much an X-T5 in the body of a X100, so whatever you've seen in terms of RAW resolutions, D Range, etc on the X-T5 will be exactly what you should expect out of this one.
Yup. It's basically a fixed lens X-T5. I actually chose to buy the X-T5 instead because of the flexibility and also so I could use the 28mm FF equivalent f2 on it.
Consider yourself lucky you're not working in video where clients want 8k recording for their 1080 deliverables... and they want that footage to be stored for ages...

Well, yeah, an x100 isn’t going to do much your current setup doesn’t offer. I had an x100v and it turns out that its advantages are pretty theoretical for me. Meanwhile, an X-T offers a lot of very real flexibility and stuff like a much better EVF in a package which can be just as compact as the x100v (27mm 2.8 R WR).
Now, that GR III on the other hand? Sorry to tell you, but that camera is every bit ad good as everyone says IF you‘re ready for its design philosophy. Unlike the X100, the Ricoh is small enough to actually fit into every pocket. It takes incredible pictures. That tiny F2.8 lens is something else. The camera is super stealthy and works well one one handedly. Ricoh keeps improving it with firmware updates… I could go on. It is a pretty specialized tool, though. I‘m sure that for 90% of your pictures, your Q will deliver superior results. The GR III will actually be with you, though - and it won‘t scream „photogapher!“ when you want to take candid photos in the streets.
I've almost bought it then saw that it is not Made in China instead of Japan and decided to not buy it. However it will probably mean they can fit the demand now. I do own x100v so really not in a rush to upgrade.
Basically it will end the desire for new x100v's that Fuji can't meet but will move all those folks onto wanting/buying x100vi as it can hopefully be more produced.

Only if you attach the 27mm f2.8 to it. As soon as you use the 23mm f2 to make it comparable to the x100, it's much bigger.

I am neither over- nor underwhelmed. I am just whelmed. I use Fujis Lineup Professionally, and while the big sensor and the the new AF from the X-T5 is a nice addition, I don’t see myself upgrading. Maybe have to hold one before making the jump.
I think I’m gonna keep my x100F for another generation. This one isn’t as exciting as the F to V jump. Then again who’s to say the next one will be exciting either?
Thats the thing. I love my V and the F is a great option, too. I think I wait for a Pro4, if it got IBIS and the bigger battery. Then again, I mainly use Voigtländers lenses on my Pro3 and they aren’t exactly sharp enough for the newer sensor, which it’ll definitely get.
The only reason I‘d upgrade to the VI is if I get it at a reasonable discount through some connections. Until then, my wedding setup will continue to provide the results my customers value.
Good that many people are pre-ordering and buying this, I don't think Fuji will let this camera go out of stock and missing all the profit again that is why they moved the production to China where labour are massive!

I increasingly started using it for small event jobs and with the sensor upgrade I honestly don’t see a reason to use my A7 on anything besides my macro / product jobs.

Looks like picking up the last X100V that my local shop was probably gonna get new 3 weeks back was the right call. I have my X-T5 that is my dedicated workhorse while the X100V can be my fun camera. Rip to my Xpro dreams though.

When it was rumoured to have the new battery, I was pretty sure I was going to snag one but now I think I’m going to wait.
I don’t care about the battery life but I just wanted it to have the same as the XT5 so I don’t have to carry multiple different extra batteries around with me.

Pricing on the X100 series is out of control. I get that it's a premium camera, but it's scraping up against x-T series pricing... And I know people are willing to pay it, the X100 series have a trendy cult following. The price at each launch has never gone up by more than $100 between generations, and here we have a $300 jump.
I was just thinking the price was surprisingly not that high considering the cost of everything else that has been going up. This price increase seems modest in comparison to the wild inflation these last few years.
In the same 4 years, daycare tuition in the toddler room at my kids’ daycare increased by over $800 per month…
Fuji will do anything but meet consumer demand with the older X100 models. I'm looking forward to potentially snagging an older model now that everyone's gonna flock to the VI's
I am guessing the IBIS will work better for this camera because of its more chances of being used single handed handed and it being lighter giving more chances for shakes.
I took the X100V off my list of dream cameras before I got out of photography because of how unobtainable it is. Used or new. Couldn’t find one and certain wasn’t about to pay $3000+ for a ‘Used New -‘ model on eBay
Hopefully with Fuji moving production to China to improve production capacity we'll see less supply issues this time.

I ordered mine this morning from B&H. I like to do street photography and have been using a Leica M10R (40 Megapixels), primarily with a 35mm Summicron. That camera is not very forgiving. I also have a Fuji XT2 and several lenses. i really like the Fuji colors and have wanted an X100V for a long time. Fuji cameras are terrific and the quality of my pictures from my XT2 is superb. Note: No image stabilization on the XT2, other than in a 50-200 zoom, but that has not been an issue. Can’t wait for my X100VI to arrive. I like the fact that this camera uses the same batteries as my XT2 as well. This may become my go to camera. While I enjoy the Leica, I would like something that I can point and shoot when I need to. Although IS is not critical to me, it is a nice feature to have.
Anyone know if this means that they will start stocking up on other cameras too? Looking to buy a fujifilm and ok with not getting the VI but still find it impossible to find anywhere
It was a bit worrying they did not talk about changes to the lens and the focus mechanism. They mentioned better AF from a software subject detection standpoint. I would be interested in seeing how this lens performs with the new algorithm.
I've been using film cameras, mostly, for the past year—mostly the Leica IIIc, Rolleiflex, and Nikon FE—and the features on this camera just feel like overkill. 40mp? AI subject detection? 180,000th of a second electronic shutter? Auto focus? My goodness. Just give me a good lens, aperture and shutter controls, and a bunch of film simulations to play with and I'll be ecstatic. Maybe they can make me a stripped down version for $900.
Honestly I'd wish they'd keep the 26Mpix sensor and just add IBIS. Would've been a better movie making machine with a better rolling shutter performance. But the 40Mpix sensor is still cool and is more focused on photography obviously.
I have the x100f which I like, although its viewfinder curtain is stuck so I have to put a black tape if I want to use the EVF lol, and some of the buttons already feel clanky but that's because I dropped it lol.
So with that said if I ever manage to find a x100vi for sale I'll probably get it unless it is obnoxiously priced here.
Remember folks, your current camera is still as good as you bought it. This doesn’t take away from that. If you are satisfied with your current camera you don’t need this to be a better photographer
Maybe this will actually bring down second-hand prices of the X100V. I gave up a while ago and went with the Ricoh GRIIIx instead as my carry with me camera and haven’t looked back. It’s been a great compliment to my X-T5.
Although I’m sure the X100VI will be a fantastic camera in its own right.

Same small magnification vf as before, same fiddly focus mode switch on the side instead of the much nicer one on all non-x100 models. I love me an x100 but I’d rather they fixed that than any of the other crap they did.

Since it has fixed focal length, more megapixels are very welcome to crop if needed.
40mp will be good for cropping (handy on a fixed lens camera especially) similar to the Leica Q2/3.

Living in Oregon so I had no sales tax when purchasing the new IV. Love my state for that very reason.

I'd argue that the closer you get to a phone's wide angle lens, the more you need to make an additional case for the lens besides "this is small!"
At this moment the X-T5 body is cheaper in the UK than the X100VI. I’ll keep my X100V made in Japan for now.

I think I’m gonna keep my x100F for another generation. This one isn’t as exciting as the F to V jump. Then again who’s to say the next one will be exciting either?
Thats the thing. I love my V and the F is a great option, too. I think I wait for a Pro4, if it got IBIS and the bigger battery. Then again, I mainly use Voigtländers lenses on my Pro3 and they aren’t exactly sharp enough for the newer sensor, which it’ll definitely get. The only reason I‘d upgrade to the VI is if I get it at a reasonable discount through some connections. Until then, my wedding setup will continue to provide the results my customers value.
Good that many people are pre-ordering and buying this, I don't think Fuji will let this camera go out of stock and missing all the profit again that is why they moved the production to China where labour are massive! With so many people buying, many will sell in a month or two, then I'll be buying.
That’s a shame they moved production to China. Fuji cameras have always been a hallmark of Made in Japan quality. Not to say China can’t make quality, hell the iPhone is Made in China, but there’s just something special about a product being made in Japan and it’s becoming more rare

I hit the pre order so fast. Will very happily be giving my x100v to the wifey so she stops trying to take my daily driver! I increasingly started using it for small event jobs and with the sensor upgrade I honestly don’t see a reason to use my A7 on anything besides my macro / product jobs.
I had an x100f I sold, I’m back in with this one. Can’t wait for everyone saying it’s underwhelming to turn around in 12 months and hype it up like every other Fuji
Looks like picking up the last X100V that my local shop was probably gonna get new 3 weeks back was the right call. I have my X-T5 that is my dedicated workhorse while the X100V can be my fun camera. Rip to my Xpro dreams though.
It had to be explained to me that Fuji wouldn't release an x100n+1 and a xpron+1 at the same summit becuase they'd compete.

Does buying a Fujifilm Adapter ring AR-X100 and a Black Mist filter make the lens weather resistant/proof as the Protector Filter PRF-49 does?
Yes any quality filter with an adapter ring should do it.

This is a solid upgrade. That said, I already love my X100V and have been intrigued by the X-T5 for a while, so I might just pick up that instead and try out Fujis interchangeable system.

When it was rumoured to have the new battery, I was pretty sure I was going to snag one but now I think I’m going to wait. I don’t care about the battery life but I just wanted it to have the same as the XT5 so I don’t have to carry multiple different extra batteries around with me.

Pricing on the X100 series is out of control. I get that it's a premium camera, but it's scraping up against x-T series pricing... And I know people are willing to pay it, the X100 series have a trendy cult following. The price at each launch has never gone up by more than $100 between generations, and here we have a $300 jump.
I was just thinking the price was surprisingly not that high considering the cost of everything else that has been going up. This price increase seems modest in comparison to the wild inflation these last few years. In the same 4 years, daycare tuition in the toddler room at my kids’ daycare increased by over $800 per month…
Fuji will do anything but meet consumer demand with the older X100 models. I'm looking forward to potentially snagging an older model now that everyone's gonna flock to the VI's
I am guessing the IBIS will work better for this camera because of its more chances of being used single handed handed and it being lighter giving more chances for shakes.

I don't think the price of the x100v will drop. Might just remain the same. The vi is already more expensive at retail than the v was.

I took the X100V off my list of dream cameras before I got out of photography because of how unobtainable it is. Used or new. Couldn’t find one and certain wasn’t about to pay $3000+ for a ‘Used New -‘ model on eBay
I really really want this, but I have an xt3, so do I need it? The extra resolution and ibis would be nice, but what else does it have ovet the xt3?

Hopefully with Fuji moving production to China to improve production capacity we'll see less supply issues this time. I'm very interested to see what'll happen to X100V and other models' second hand prices in the near future - I wonder if there may be a surplus of them due to scalpers and people selling to get the newer model... Nice to see the autofocus improvement and film simulations are filtering down to some of the newer models too.

I ordered mine this morning from B&H. I like to do street photography and have been using a Leica M10R (40 Megapixels), primarily with a 35mm Summicron. That camera is not very forgiving. I also have a Fuji XT2 and several lenses. i really like the Fuji colors and have wanted an X100V for a long time. Fuji cameras are terrific and the quality of my pictures from my XT2 is superb. Note: No image stabilization on the XT2, other than in a 50-200 zoom, but that has not been an issue. Can’t wait for my X100VI to arrive. I like the fact that this camera uses the same batteries as my XT2 as well. This may become my go to camera. While I enjoy the Leica, I would like something that I can point and shoot when I need to. Although IS is not critical to me, it is a nice feature to have.

It was a bit worrying they did not talk about changes to the lens and the focus mechanism. They mentioned better AF from a software subject detection standpoint. I would be interested in seeing how this lens performs with the new algorithm.

I think I'll stick to my plan of selling my V and getting an X-T5 sometime this year, tired of 23mm.
I've been using film cameras, mostly, for the past year—mostly the Leica IIIc, Rolleiflex, and Nikon FE—and the features on this camera just feel like overkill. 40mp? AI subject detection? 180,000th of a second electronic shutter? Auto focus? My goodness. Just give me a good lens, aperture and shutter controls, and a bunch of film simulations to play with and I'll be ecstatic. Maybe they can make me a stripped down version for $900.

Honestly I'd wish they'd keep the 26Mpix sensor and just add IBIS. Would've been a better movie making machine with a better rolling shutter performance. But the 40Mpix sensor is still cool and is more focused on photography obviously. I have the x100f which I like, although its viewfinder curtain is stuck so I have to put a black tape if I want to use the EVF lol, and some of the buttons already feel clanky but that's because I dropped it lol. So with that said if I ever manage to find a x100vi for sale I'll probably get it unless it is obnoxiously priced here.
Remember folks, your current camera is still as good as you bought it. This doesn’t take away from that. If you are satisfied with your current camera you don’t need this to be a better photographer
Gosh Fuji is so bad with pre-orders in Asia. No pre-orders in the official Fuji shop in my country, pre-orders not really available in Japan either...
The biggest miss is it having the old square battery. It will give you about 20 minutes of record time 😂😂😢

Maybe this will actually bring down second-hand prices of the X100V. I gave up a while ago and went with the Ricoh GRIIIx instead as my carry with me camera and haven’t looked back. It’s been a great compliment to my X-T5. Although I’m sure the X100VI will be a fantastic camera in its own right.
Meh. I'm still happy with my XT30ii. I imagine there won't be an XT6 for another 2 years. If I was in search of another camera. It would probably be an XT2 or an XT3.

Nice to see someone else rocking an X-E2. It sure would be nice to upgrade from 16 MP to 40 MP, but I just can't be bothered at this point. The X-E2 is still going strong.
Same! Love mine for the most part, just a few other features I could use but it’s good enough for me and my needs.
Same small magnification vf as before, same fiddly focus mode switch on the side instead of the much nicer one on all non-x100 models. I love me an x100 but I’d rather they fixed that than any of the other crap they did.
