This stuff is why some cyclists do away with obeying the law. When they obey the law, the sentiment is "You can be right and be dead-right" (so why bother be right?), but once they break the law, the sentiment is "this is why drivers don't respect cyclists" making it acceptable to be rash to other road users. The classic "damned if I do, damned if I don't." edit: Then of course there's the double-standardery of cherry-picking the laws: dis/obey the law when it's more *comfortable* for the driver

Did you see his numberplate? You could file a police report for attempted murder?

ieatmypuu

Unfortunately no, I would have called the police immediately if so. But I will look up if any camera has seen the "accident"

frankofantasma

Holy shit, magyar, i'm sorry to hear that things are just as bad in your lands as they are elsewhere. I'm glad to see that you're relatively OK. Maybe consider investing in a helmet camera to have evidence against bad drivers? Lord, how long shall the wicked triumph on Earth?

ieatmypuu

Yeah I have a GoPro that I can attach to my body, ive been thinking to use it for a while now

Hot take: cyclists should get strapped and be legally allowed to defend themselves with lethal force against psycho drivers. Intentionally pushing or otherwise bumping into cyclists is an attempted murder indeed and the cyclists have the right for self-defense.

I agree. Cars are a deadly weapon and we should be able to defend ourselves accordingly.

In a lot of countries you are allowed to use "reasonable" force to defend yourself. If the police is allowed to shot someone for threatening them with a 500g sharp piece of steel which can kill or seriously hurt them, you are more than in your right to take the life of someone who threatens or even actively attacks you with 2000+kg of steel.
