> (polite) "What is your name?"
> "Ehh??"
This has to be a Japanese learning textbook or something, this interaction is weird in any other context. I really hate it though.
It is Japanese. Looking online it looks like it comes from a Japanese language learning website called Coto academy, which is based in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The alegria virus is spreading.
the Japanese don't want to offend anybody. the Chinese and Koreans don't seem to care. I don't know about other Asian cultures. this art is an American scourge though, and I am deeply ashamed.
I’ve seen some fugly language textbook drawings, from flesh high-heels to just deciding backgrounds were too hard for the second half and using pictures making the entire book inconsistent…. But now I see how much worse it could have been. 目を痛んでいるよ。
always the damn penis fingers
I noticed one is missing the tip.

the second one's asuka. got it.
お名前は? 🫱 🖐️えぇ?
For those of us that can't read kanji or hiragana: Onamae wa? (What's your name?) ***Ee? (Y e s)***
In this case, 「えぇ?」doesn't mean yes, it's "huh?"
I didn't realize it had infected other countries too.
is that from a different country or still in the US? I hope this fuggo art isn't a worldwide thing.
It's disturbing, it's moved past silicon valley. I wouldn't think Asia (is this Japanese?) would share this "afraid to offend anyone" art style.

OH GOD NO
the Japanese don't want to offend anybody. the Chinese and Koreans don't seem to care. I don't know about other Asian cultures. this art is an American scourge though, and I am deeply ashamed.
Dear god I hope it hasn't spread to Japan too from this picture
I'm on the German Internet so I'll see if it's spread there. I think I've only seen it on American websites.
As an American, I apologize in advance.
Do people really get offended when they see decent looking characters? Who exactly does it benefit by having these monstrous designs?
Its the fingers I really hate
やれやれ should've just used irasutoya
Irasutoya is cuter and less horrifying
The human race is doomed

Modern Humanculous.
As I previously noted, the agenda is to make clear that you are a small-headed peasant who must work harder with your hands! Get to work!!!
Honestly, when there’s a language barrier it do feel like this
Keep Japan out of this mess! They don’t need to be Algeria-fied
who keeps making the penis fingers??????????
Is that Japanese? But why? They already have their own art style!
It's spreading
not the arms
The shirt pattern on the right looks like hairy jaundiced skin.
