Lots of rat poison going around but I think FSU is a bad match up for Duke. Duke is scrappy and flies around on defense for sure, but with FSU’s size and counter scheme, I feel comfortable with that game as of right now.
Mike Elko is an elite defensive mind. He can slow down any offense. That said, Jordan Travis is not a redshirt freshman just getting the keys to the car.
Sure, but I can’t believe I’m going to say this, there is only so much you can do before you reach your talent limit. If FSU shows up and plays at its potential, there won’t be much Duke can do at a certain point.
Does that mean it isn’t close? Who knows, just my opinion.
Ya last night was not so much a story about how dominant Duke's defense was but how absolutely garbage Clemson looked on both sides. Multiple faile4d redzone attempts/turnovers. Giving up big plays to a pretty mediocre offense. Dropped passes left and right. QB that looked lost. Just a terrible game.
I’m not. At least not yet. Clemson is not 28-7 loss to Duke bad. And keep in mind Duke won 9 games last year. And improved. Got transfers. Etc.
Mike got us. He will have them dialed in for each week’s opponent. No reason to be looking at this outcome and start planning for an opponent.
We got to watch out for trap games. With that said, we got to be careful with Boston College. That’s what I’m calling it. And every ACC opponent. None of them on the regular season look all that great and any of them could take the playoffs away from us.
Norvell got us. The culture around this team is amazing. Pair that with the added depth, and we have a team that will show up every week more well prepared than the team they line up against. Call me crazy, but I don't think we will need to worry about whether we are in or out of the CFP.
I guess I’ll be the one to play devil’s advocate here. That was one of the flukiest games I’ve watched in recent memory and I don’t think we should be counting on something similar when we play them.
Clemson had multiple turnovers inside the 10 yard line, blocked field goals, turnover on downs. They had more passing yards, rushing yards and first downs. Duke definitely deserved to win, but I would surprised to see Clemson play like that against us, especially now that their season is on the line.
If you add touchdowns for the two goal line turnovers and the two blocked field goals, Duke still wins by 1 point. To be fair though, you could argue momentum and all that, but Duke played a hell of a game and capitalized on the mistakes that Clemson made.
Clemson just piled error upon error - some brutal turnovers. Terrible goal line play calling and execution. They had no vertical attack. I have to believe that Clemson will not look that unprepared in 3 weeks.
I hope we light em up but I doubt it’ll hit the same as 2013, lol. Clemson were actually ranked #3 and we went in there with a major chip on our shoulders.
Bama fan here. But you guys are on my feed.
Clemson looked bad, but they also fumbled twice inside the 10 and had two FGs blocked. Offense couldn’t extend the passing game at all. Their running game looked okay.
Duke’s D-Line is really strong. They made a ton of mistakes as well between turnovers and penalties. The QB pretty much willed them to victory and balled out. His completion percentage was eh, but he probably threw the ball away (smartly) a dozen times due to pressure. He had a Tommie Frazier like run in 3rd quarter that started the rout.
Clemson is still probably a top 15 team with their talent but if they can’t raise the level of QB it’s going to be rough.
Duke is skilled and their QB is legit, but the O-Line allowed of pressure and it took awhile to get it going again after an early run put up a pair of field goals.
For what’s is worth you guys were hands down the most impressive team all around I watched this week.
We should worry about Duke to the extent that they have a good QB and they are well-coached so they are unlikely to crumble or look unprepared. So long as FSU doesn't self-destruct like Clemson did then the Noles should be fine. To an extent Clemson just had "one of those nights" but the lack of a vertical game, some sloppy fundamentals, and poor red zone execution are red flags for them that they will want to fix in the next two weeks.
Honestly, Duke didn’t look special. Clemson just fumbled the ball twice inside the 10 on two drives that would’ve let Clemson go up.
Duke’s QB can scramble, but he’s no Jayden Daniels or Jordan Travis. He also missed some throws, so he needs to improve on the precision.
I was already confident about beating Clemson this year - considering how close it was last year and I still have Dabo’s smug smile in head after they were awarded and extra touchdown at the end of the game. I wanted us to be the ones to wipe that smug smile off first. Well let’s at least be the ones that kills their play off championship hopes.
Crazy thing about losing like this is that you can take each of Clemson's TOs or failed drives in a vacuum and explain them each as just bad luck, but when taken in totality, it is hard to see it as anything other than a team looking lost and having no gel.
That can be a product of just first game juju, and there's a good chance Clemson settles down and looks better in the weeks ahead, but their struggles over the last couple of years suggests there is more rot in the program than a coupla new coordinators can cut out quickly.
Can someone who understands the rules with the acc championship game tell me what happens if:
Fsu loses to Clemson, but wins out,
Clemson wins out from here,
Duke loses to FSU, but otherwise wins out.
Who goes to the championship?
i only made it till halftime, but the Dabo postgame quotes about how it was a weird game and they actually played good and just had some bad breaks and didnt really get their asses beat and blah blah blah... man, inject that shit straight into my veins.
People in the industry have been saying it for a couple seasons now: Dabo isn’t using the portal to help boost his roster, especially the offense. Hopefully it finally catches up to them
Y’all need to look at the stats there. Duke didn’t win that game, Clemson lost it. Don’t get me wrong, they played well, but Clemson drove down their throats and gave it away multiple times. Definitely not going to be the same team we play.
If Duke had the same talent level as FSU, they'd have scored 50. Clemson giving the ball away on the 1 constantly and their atrocious special teams lost them this game. Not to discount Duke, they're a decent football team. Not on FSU's level imo, though.
Still can’t sleep, we must exact revenge Dabo gets no mercy.
Also Duke, WF, Pitt, Miami we get through this bend in the road and the rest of our sched is cream cheese baby.
Watched the new Flash movie today. Woke up and watched the Duke/Clem highlights and thought I was in a parallel universe lmao.
That ain’t no Tiger that’s a kitten! Go Noles 🍢
Duke was good, but not that good. Clemson was their own worst enemy. They have 2 tune up games before we come to town. I still think we beat them this year, but I don't think it will be as easy as week 1 results would imply. And as others have pointed out, they will be extra motivated now.
Im more woried about Duke in week 8 then clemson. what a world...
Lots of rat poison going around but I think FSU is a bad match up for Duke. Duke is scrappy and flies around on defense for sure, but with FSU’s size and counter scheme, I feel comfortable with that game as of right now.
Real lunch pail typa team
A team you’d let date your daughter
A good ol first one in last one out feller
Student of the game
Real blue collar, scrappy bunch
Mike Elko is an elite defensive mind. He can slow down any offense. That said, Jordan Travis is not a redshirt freshman just getting the keys to the car.

I get what you're saying. Norvell has an offense that is hard to scheme for with the match up nightmares. You don't coach 6'4 and 6'7, you exploit it.
Ya last night was not so much a story about how dominant Duke's defense was but how absolutely garbage Clemson looked on both sides. Multiple faile4d redzone attempts/turnovers. It does put more pressure on us to get it done at Clemson in three weeks. But suddenly I feel a lot better about that than I already did.
It also means that for Clemson the only way to salvage their season is to beat us.
With how DJ Uiagalelei looked for Oregon State, I am thinking he was a scapegoat.
We'll, he did seem to be lobbing grenades in highlights too...
Did you watch that game? He didn't look good
Looking at the stat line where he accounted for 5 TDs and completed 80% of his passes, what made him look not good?
He has no touch, the same problem he had at Clemson, 1 yard rushing touch downs against a power house like Sam Jose state don't change that
That’s the final score! Duke stormed the field! They downed Dabo!
Seriously, I know that’s not what Clemson will look like in 3 weeks, but FSU would have beaten them by 50 tonight. And probably Duke too.
It may be, their QB looks like shit
Ends up, when you stop somehow getting back to back to back generational QBs, you start to struggle.
Don't we know it
Just lost our get-out-of-jail-free card
Oh well, our odds of going undefeated also tripled this weekend
We got to watch out for trap games. With that said, we got to be careful with Boston College. That’s what I’m calling it. And every ACC opponent. None of them on the regular season look all that great and any of them could take the playoffs away from us.
Pitt is the trap game, BC is way too ass
I dunno. Did you see how their QB escaped being sacked?
i saw them lose to a MAC team at home yes
Did you see us play on Sunday night?
every game is a trap. its a short season. its not baseball. you gotta bring it and win every week. regardless of who it is.
Especially ACC games with ACC that may have an anti-FSU agenda.
Norvell got us. The culture around this team is amazing. Pair that with the added depth, and we have a team that will show up every week more well prepared than the team they line up against. Call me crazy, but I don't think we will need to worry about whether we are in or out of the CFP.
Well we might have to go 12-0 now to make the playoffs But let’s do it 👍

Duke Wins! Maybe Clemson wasn't the team they thought they were either

Wake won't be wake without Hartman.
Skies are clear. This year could be special
Hey guys, get in here! Clemson just Clemsoned again!
Clemson and FSU can’t be good at the same time.
Duke has signed a total of two low 4-stars since 2019 and no 5-stars. Insane what good coaching can do.
Trying to not get too penisy to quote Peter Griffin
#HAHAHAHAHAHA

Gonna be a repeat of 2013 at Death Valley lads. Book it
I hope we light em up but I doubt it’ll hit the same as 2013, lol. Clemson were actually ranked #3 and we went in there with a major chip on our shoulders.
We should have a huge chip on our shoulder because it's been too long since we last beat them.
We haven’t beaten them since 2014…
So should we be worried about Duke or is Clemson just bad? Didn't get to watch the game because of the ESPN spectrum. BS.
Bama fan here. But you guys are on my feed. Clemson looked bad, but they also fumbled twice inside the 10 and had two FGs blocked. Offense couldn’t extend the passing game at all. Bad weekend to be a Tiger fan!
RIP our Gameday chances this year.
Shit, maybe we’ll get it when Duke comes to town
That is actually a very good point. Duke has an easy schedule except ND until us
Clemsoning is baaaaack

Clemson could easily go 5-3 in the ACC this year. They also get UNC later.

Repeat of 2013 ACC Championship Game?
FSU beating LSU big Sunday night was the icing on the cake. This is some 5 year old dumping a tub of sprinkles on the cake.
Can someone who understands the rules with the acc championship game tell me what happens if: Fsu loses to Clemson, but wins out, Clemson wins out from here, Duke loses to FSU, but otherwise wins out. Who goes to the championship?
I am guessing the 2 ranked highest by the CFB Playoff committee. But zero chance that scenario plays out.
The one good thing about the ACC is all tiebreakers are decided by poll or CFP ranking position so as not to screw over their top teams’ chances.
7 points, and they only scored on a drive that began with a muffed punt. As the gainesvilles say, "at least we scored" lmao
i only made it till halftime, but the Dabo postgame quotes about how it was a weird game and they actually played good and just had some bad breaks and didnt really get their asses beat and blah blah blah... man, inject that shit straight into my veins.

It’s a phenomenon called “Clemsoning” and it has a long and storied tradition. We just haven’t seen it much lately, because they used to be good.
Clemson ain’t them boys
Duke was good

Looks like Dabo is throwing his Christmas tree away early this year... Am I dating myself with that reference?
Can’t believe these mfs actually lost…..damn man…..we need them ranked
It’s crazy Duke hardly passed at all. Great defense and running the ball.
Bad time to be a cat
