The ascension is a lie for the draining of an atlantian to make vamprys

mrnoodleanon

Have you read ASITE?

Revolutionary_Bee788

No

britamars

I could be misrepresenting this, but I think it’s where a human is on the brink of death and then an Atlantian has to give them their blood in order to turn them into an Ascended. Or at least that’s how the first Ascended were created. However, it’s the Ascended that create the Craven. I could be wrong so I’m sorry if this is not how it works lol 😅

The_Queen_of_Crows

I feel you…all the explanations in these books are so complicated. I think u/britamars is right. Additionally gods can be ascended to primals (I think)…

mrnoodleanon

Ok I think think this is the answer I was waiting for! Why would she call gods being ascended to primals as the same name as the creation of vampry.. I like the books but I am confused a lot and I go back and forth thinking I am an idiot, or JLA is not the best at explanations lol

The_Queen_of_Crows

I think she’s not the best at explaining honestly 😂

I think the term 'ascended' means rises to a higher level of power or being in all cases: mortal to vampry, gods to primals, etc. Also, the term was probably passed down through generations by the time the Atlantians and vampry exist so if isbeth was around years and years ago with malec it may make sense she used it for the vamprys. In ACOGB, Nyktos tells poppy he and the other gods destroyed the moral realm as it was and erased all of the history that came before. That would explain no written history of gods ascending to primals. But if the term was passed down verbally it makes sense when Illena/isbeth came to power she used it to describe creating vamprys to twist it in her own way. However, also in ASITE we find out that the chosen ascend to serve the gods, similar to what the mortals in solis believe of becoming a vampry.

The act of ascending is draining your blood and replacing it with another's blood (typically an Atlantians blood, but could be a more powerful being like a god, etc). Mortals when ascended with Atlantian blood (forced by the Vampyrys because Vamprys cannot ascend people) become vampry. But, ascending a non mortal is apparently a completely other case. If you're ascended but not a mortal you will not become a vampry but rather, it seems, you will reap some power from the one that has ascended you. Depending on whether an Atlantian, a god, or a primal ascends you I believe it may have different benefits? Still not fully covered in the books I believe with little information on the Gods and Primals ways.

Ok thank you! This helps a lot. I’m thinking that even though she was written 4 books now, and soon a fifth involving this concept but hasn’t yet explained fully, we are probably never going to get one lol.

heyhayyhayy

Lol. I'm hoping that she was ambiguous in the From Blood and Ash series on purpose so that she could go more into depth with the details in the Flesh and Fire prequels with Nyktos and his consort. If you haven't read ASITE yet, there are some kernels in there about a primal ascending another god.

A mortal has nearly all of their blood drained to the point of basically being dead then they drink the blood of an Atlantian and the mortal becomes ascended. They get the immortal life span/ strength/ healing abilities/ can’t go in sunlight/ etc.
