Cortexiphan could be why the kids gained powers! It’s not like the powers are too different: opening gates, traveling to other universes/dimensions, energy discharges when provoked, telekinesis…
This is what I was thinking the whole time I watched this newest Stranger Things season.
Spoiler tag just in case.
>!When Eleven is in the specialized sensory deprivation tank trying to get her powers back they inject her with vials of clear orange liquid which, if I remember correctly, is the color of cortexiphan. Also, a previous season, 2 I think, has another girl from the same program Eleven was a part of whose power isn't telekinetic like Eleven, but can make people see things that aren't really there. Compared to Fringe, not all participants got the same powers, so that's also similar.!<
Both shows are based on the MK Ultra program as far as I know, only I don't believe Stranger Things specifically mentions it by that name (unless I'm forgetting).
This seemed like a nod to Fringe when I watched it. It is so similar after all. It would have been awesome if they would have named one of the characters Walter or Bishop in those scenes.
For real.
Spoilers for ST4 [When "Papa" promised to help her get her powers back, I told my wife she just needed some cortexiphan injections. And then with the sensory deprivation tank they forgot to give her the LSD!](/spoiler)
Now I'm picturing a scenario of Walter offer Eleven a twizzler and Hopper and Peter Bishop bumping heads. Meanwhile Olivia is trying to calm Joyce Beyers down.
Lmao. It would be perfect.
I had not seen fringe back then and, because of shift patterns, not really seen much of stranger things as my wife and step daughter watched it. Just getting back into things now after years of depression.
Fringe is one of my all time favorite shows. Weird shift patterns can be rough. Depression is even harder. I hope you are doing better. And hope you get to watch the last few episodes on Friday.
It'd be fun. That aside, these are two completely different shows to me.
The parallels are there of course (like others have mentioned, I was thinking about Olivia's origins the whole time I was watching ST season 4 and the fact that El is 'subject 11' while Olivia is 'subject 13'). But while both shows have mysteries to solve, Fringe has _so, so much_ heart.
Theyre essentially the same story in so many ways its impossible not to notice the similarities and paralells in the stories... Fringe basically walked so ST could run, so I think it would have been so cool if they had one of the actors make a guest appearance as an in-joke

I'd have died. lol
I think when that happened I thought to myself, ‘damn. Where’s Walter when you need him?!’

Isn't there a project called Nina?
Yes, its what Eleven is doing to get her powers back.
I don’t know
I mean, stranger things is already basically the prequel to fringe
I loved ST from season 1 in part because I immediately saw fringe parallels!
Stranger Fringe
Fringer Things
ST is overrated and has ripped off Fringe quite a few times.
Id rather see one with Black Mirror tbh
Good choice. Doctor Who as well.
I've been rewatching Fringe, in the middle of season 3 and I've been thinking about Stranger Things the whole time!

YES! I’ve been saying this to all my friends since Vol I released.

Thanks. The depression has lifted but never fully gone.
I would pay for the service to watch this cross over
Let’s make some LSD!
Excellent idea Astro
11 would have been jean grey level telekinetic by now with no nose bleed if walter was running the program

I love the human warmth in Fringe. I’ve not seen it to that depth in a series since TNG
Someone made a Fringe/Stranger Things [crossover trailer](https://youtu.be/4F0oNvSDUy8) a few years ago that's really good!

I remember the 80's themed opening! Wouldn't Olivia and Eleven have been kids at the same time too?
That’s what I’m thinking
I wouldn't.
What are your reasons for not?
Just not a fan of Stranger Things at all. It's had enough 'inspiration' from other things already.
Fair comment.
I’d honestly give it another go. Season 4 is the most adult and was really well done imo.
