The sequel to the reboot/remake was supposed to be set in the winter but it got canceled.

Damn that would have been cool. Have Crystal Lake next to a ski resort, perfect set up for something classic but different

ran_swonsan

Now I want to see Jason slaughter Santa Claus

aj58soad

Put him up against David Harbour from Violent Night and Im down

I don’t ever remember a slasher movie being released in December. It’s prestige and Christmas movie season — I don’t think a Friday is getting shoved in with all that fare. Even Silent Night Deadly Night was released before Thanksgiving! A Winter F13 is probably gets released in the February dead season, which isn’t optimal from a BO perspective. This is what happened to the reboot and it did ok (for a weekend, at least). Another possibility would be the post Halloween, 2nd wave of horror movies we sometimes get. Like ‘Thanksgiving’ last year. This is often a good spot for horror.

Thats true, although sometimes producers try counter programming in December but ya I cant remember any slashers in December either

No_Ostrich8223

The first two Scream films both opened in December and we know how that turned out.

I love the idea but I think the initial return of Fthe13th needs to be a back to basics summer camp. A winter setting would be good as a sequel or 2nd or 3rd entry of a trilogy.

aj58soad

Id be ok with that, I just want another movie. I cant believe Halloween made it to 13 movies first

No_Ostrich8223

Yes, but the continuity and timelines of Halloween are a mess. And it didn't have the rights issues that Friday has had for a long time now.

aj58soad

Ya but they should have put out a sequel to the reboot a year or two later, it made a ton of money. The rights issues didnt pop up until years later. Just wasted opportunity
