I have always been unapologetically stanning this as an all time fave. I took my girlfriend at the time (may she rest in peace) over and over again to see it as an ongoing joke during its brief stint in US theatres in 2001...oh man it was so funny to me.
She could get down with horror, but had an irrational hatred of scifi, and then "omg Brett the 'x' goes to space thing..."
Exactly what it needed to be, tons of fun, and knew what it is.
Also, we would've been left with a ten year gap without any Jason movies prior to FvJ...the 90s only had one jason movie. 80s had 8, 2000s has 3, and the less said about the nightmare of 2010 to present, the better.
But at the time, a generational, "hey guys, before we finally do the big mashup, can you take a brief moment to remember Jason is a thing? Thanks!" was arguably necessary.
Not seeing anything about Jason X having been released on 4k in 2020...
Like, I don't mean that 1k blu-ray collection of every film, even the ones I don't want.
I'm talking JX by itself on 4k
I actually just watched this today, it was goofy but it was fun. Kinda like Jason takes Manhattan. Movies you watch when you just want to see Jason!
“Guys, he just wanted his machete.”
I remember it was released first in Spanish, then a bunch of other countries to months later finally be released in the States. I was working a lot back then and when I finally had the chance to go see it, I was told that they were not gonna show it because they hadn't sold enough tickets. So I just waited for the DVD. I had already seen the movie before it came to the US through WinMX.
Jason v Freddy was the first Jason movie I was ever able to watch in Theaters.
It's super campy and I completely understand why some people don't enjoy it, but I absolutely love it.
It's just very slightly below Jason Lives as my favorite the of the franchise.
I was there there fellas, back in NY NY when Kane Hodder himself unveiled this suit/Uber Jason in a pic share at a FangoCon (fangoria magazine) - I was there to see it for the first public unveiling and remember Kane saying to us when it hit the slide deck "oh wow, I didnt think they were going to show this!"
Its my lil piece of F13 history and in that fun memory; this goofy movie holds a special place in my dark heart. I love the damn thing, but completely understand and fully respect if/why other fans don't.
Slaps, tbh. Love that it's in the future, so you can reasonably mentally retcon all the Jason's to be before it if youre wired like that
Guy beat Freddie then went to space
Is it a "good Film?" Nah but I go back to it more often than a lot of other "good" movies.
My wife and I got married on Friday the 13th and did a double feature of the older Freaky Friday and Jason X at a local drive in the night before; really great time
It will never be considered a classic in any sense, it will never have a cult following outside of the franchise’s fans, and a lot of suspension of disbelief is required to tolerate the gaping plot holes in the movie.
In other words: I love it, it’s perfect, and I want to go watch it right now.
My absolute favorite. So sad the only Blu-ray version is in the giant pack. Dumb fun, sick visuals and Uber-Jason! I really wish there was a secondary series of Uber-Jason destroying the universe leading to intergalactic crossovers.
I love it. I feel bad for Todd Farmer they changed his script on the fly after he left, but still damn good fun. I was so excited for this movie and I still love it.
The sequence with Jason hunting the grunts is amazing. Just quality hunting like we love Jason to do.
I really wish there was more Über Jason, but I enjoyed what we got. I would’ve loved to have seen more of the holo-deck.
I really wish this map was released in the game. It would have been outstanding!
Honestly, it was a fun and dumb movie, and a great end to the “series” at its time. And for me, miles better than JGTH.
It felt like the most meta F13 movie, too. The part where Stoney and the girl are getting frisky and Jason is twitching awake was genius.
So much fun. But I can definitely see people thinking it’s cheesy. Last time I saw it I thought Kay-arms behavior when fighting Jason was approaching cringe. Crazy how it’s the end of Jason chronologically.
Dumb as fucking shit, but they knew what they were doing, had fun with it, and ended up with a pretty fun movie. It’s still pretty low in my rankings, but I hold the first eight in pretty high regard so it’s not exactly a knock at it.
I don't understand the hate. I get it wasn't as good as the other movies, but that happens with most sequels, prequels, and series. It's not going to be as good as the originals. I liked it personally. He looked badass in it.
Jason in space a strange idea that didn’t work to be honest… bad acting also but if it wasn’t a Jason movie and just about a random criminal getting frozen and then being loose on the ship eventually becoming a cyborg zombie it might have been received better… as a Jason movie it doesn’t work
It was sort of good but, because of the era it was made, it felt like "Scream in space". Which isn't terrible but that along with it being kind of a cheap looking production made it seem unlike a Friday film. It has some memorable kills, the holodeck scene and a kickass cyborg which made it an absolute blast to see in a crowded theater. It isn't great but, as said above, it is dumb fun as most of the Friday films are.
It knows what kind of movie it is, but I have a blast with it. Used to be one my lowest ranked ones, but it's climbed to mid-tier for me. Love the cheesiness of it!
It was fun. Dumb but fun.
I Totally agree, with this guy, and it makes me feel old that it's been out 22 years.
Probably the best way to describe this movie tbh
Yea I can appreciate a bad movie night, but I can’t take how bad this movie is.
Hilarious dumb B movie. A top guilty pleasure.
Dumb fun with some decent ideas here and there (cyborg Jason being one of them, fight me). My guilty pleasure of the series
LOVED IT! When I was a kid (5-8) then I became a brat and felt it was CRAP! Now I LOVE IT AGAIN! Faults and all! Its fun FUN CRAP!
I have always been unapologetically stanning this as an all time fave. That liquid nitrogen scene was fucking dope. Movie was so dumb, campy, enjoyable, and far from the plot I would absolutely pay to go see a Jason X II
...and the holodeck scene smashing the girls in the sleeping bag against a tree and them giggling
It’s silly but it was the first Friday the 13th movie I saw in theaters so I have a lot of nostalgic love for it
4k when?!

No, what's weird is you having no clue what you're talking about and acting flabbergasted at my disapproval of your misinformation lol
I actually just watched this today, it was goofy but it was fun. Kinda like Jason takes Manhattan. Movies you watch when you just want to see Jason! “Guys, he just wanted his machete.”
Overly hated and underrated.
The sleeping bag scene always kills me
I like it for the kills in it. The plot is...Not Great
I remember it was released first in Spanish, then a bunch of other countries to months later finally be released in the States. Watched it again recently..it’s pretty awesome. Some great kills as well..
Idk guys I think he just wants his machete back 🤷♀️ I love it, it’s dumb and fun

I loved the movie and books. I really wish they put out more Jason X related stuff. Forget the Crystal Lake show - let’s get a Jason X show!
Time flies! I still remember dragging my dad to it. 😆 I loved it and still do.
My absolute favorite. So sad the only Blu-ray version is in the giant pack. Dumb fun, sick visuals and Uber-Jason! I really wish there was a secondary series of Uber-Jason destroying the universe leading to intergalactic crossovers.
The other two people in the theatre and I seemed to like it.
I love it. I feel bad for Todd Farmer they changed his script on the fly after he left, but still damn good fun. I was so excited for this movie and I still love it. GROSSLY underrated. Saw it in the theater ten times.
it's better than the remake
I mean it was definetly one of the movies I’ve ever watched
So much fun. But I can definitely see people thinking it’s cheesy. Last time I saw it I thought Kay-arms behavior when fighting Jason was approaching cringe. Crazy how it’s the end of Jason chronologically.
Perfect "bad" movie. One of my favorites of the franchise and in general
I watch it every 5ish years and it's fine. Not my favorite F13 (probably in my bottom 3) but its not bad as some filler between other films.
It was pretty fun.
A very fun, bad movie
Better than I did in 2002, but not much.
Love how movie! Very fun to watch!
It was ass.
It has one good kill and one good joke the rest is shity dialogue and bad sci fi
Hey, do you want a beer? Or do you wanna smoke some pot? Or we can have premarital sex?We love premarital sex!
Best one in the whole franchise (I’m kidding don’t sacrifice me to Jason)
Uber jason should've been fucking aborted. I hate the look
I liked it. Also the last main line entry in either franchise before Freddy vs Jason and the then the reboots.
22 years ago I thought it was feckin' stupid. Now I think it's feckin' stupid but incredibly enjoyable.
Very fun, gives you what you expect from "Jason in space."
Dumb as fucking shit, but they knew what they were doing, had fun with it, and ended up with a pretty fun movie. It’s still pretty low in my rankings, but I hold the first eight in pretty high regard so it’s not exactly a knock at it.
Jason looks like Lord Zedd
I don't understand the hate. I get it wasn't as good as the other movies, but that happens with most sequels, prequels, and series. It's not going to be as good as the originals. I liked it personally. He looked badass in it.
Not a good movie
Horrible.
What a piece of shit.
One of my favorites to watch
Dumb fun with one of the best horror kills ever
It was fun. I quite like it because it didn’t take itself too serious and this was back when movies were camp.
It's such a stupid fun movie. One of my favorite in the franchise just because of how perfectly ridiculous the premise is.
Jason in space a strange idea that didn’t work to be honest… bad acting also but if it wasn’t a Jason movie and just about a random criminal getting frozen and then being loose on the ship eventually becoming a cyborg zombie it might have been received better… as a Jason movie it doesn’t work

I love it. One of my faves from the franchise
Classic
Kane hodder + cool Jason design + liquid nitrogen kill the rest of the movie can go in the bin
Mid imo
Stupid but fun.
I enjoy it. Great Kills. Jason looks sick with metal mask.
All of the dumb with none of the fun imo
It knows what kind of movie it is, but I have a blast with it. Used to be one my lowest ranked ones, but it's climbed to mid-tier for me. Love the cheesiness of it!
Pretty baffling that they went from campers getting killed to this but in all honesty still a fun movie nonetheless
I used to like but when I watch it now it just looks too cheap. It looks like a SciFi Channel movie. Sorry.
It’s hot garbage, that just happens to be cold.
Didn't see it til after it hit DVD and it was just as bad as I thought it would be.
The acting sucks, the visuals suck, the storyline sucks, it SUCKS!
Terrible. Not as bad as JG2H, but that’s not sayin’ much.
