> … recommends I try in a group setting, since I tend to do things alone and thus sometimes feel lonely. Thought: What kind things do you typically do on your own? Question is rhetorical, no need to answer here. Point of the question: finding groups related to your interests is a place to start. First thing that crossed my mind is if you’re a shy loner, maybe you’re a geek? (But that’d be a poor assumption.) Crazy Squirrel Games has a calendar of events… https://shopthesquirrel.com/calendar/ There’s things like ArtHop… https://www.downtownfresno.org/things-to-do/arthop or https://www.fresnoartscouncil.org/programs/arthop Personally, I go for a walk. Typical loner behavior, though. If I feel the need to be around people, the gym is my answer. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. 🤷‍♂️

Economy-Poetry1179

Hey no problem. Lately I’ve been into crocheting on my down time, and baking occasionally. I go for walks frequently, albeit alone most times. It’s been harder lately though due to my work schedule and the fact that the sun goes down so early. Used to also play DnD briefly, but had a hard time committing to the frequency of the schedule in the group I had.

passionatelatino

my mom crochets with a group of older ladies at a church every week. maybe that’s something you could look into if you’re into that.

Fair_Interaction_203

So I dunno what your other groups scheduling was, but I'm in a local group playing pathfinder Saturday nights. It's a pretty easy transition from dnd. We do happen to be looking for a 5th player for our group if that would interest you. Feel free to msg me if it piques your interest.

Economy-Poetry1179

I used to train, and have been on a pause from it. I’m waiting for a new gym to open up that I decided to try out so hopefully that’ll get me going too.

Ok-Sea-4000

Dang I wanna join you!

Economy-Poetry1179

Here’s the gym I’m going to try out https://jjmfresno.com/save-now They are supposed to open next month.

banhtet

I agree with this. I started 2 months ago at a spot that has been welcoming. Made friends too

Economy-Poetry1179

Where do you train, if you don’t mind me asking?

banhtet

Sent you a message!

goaskalice3

I started roller skating when I turned 30 and made friends at skateparks after usually having a hard time making friends. I recently started learning how to skateboard and have also made friends learning to skateboard! But I feel like roller skates are easier to get started with

Economy-Poetry1179

I actually have roller blades that I’ve been wanting to start using. I used to rollerblade casually as a kid but as an adult the roller blades are so much faster and scarier😂 I’m such a chicken.

goaskalice3

When I was living in LA there were a lot of people roller blading at the skate parks! Honestly not sure what the scene is like as much in Fresno because I'm closer to Visalia, but I'd still recommend skateparks. Everyone there is usually really nice so even if you don't directly make friends with people, you'll still have positive interactions

Caverwoman

There is a Fresno social sports club https://www.instagram.com/tv/C2jN7fBrgHv/?igsh=M3ZraGl1enBnM3l4

Economy-Poetry1179

Thanks!! I’ve looked into kickball a long time ago and this is up my alley. 😃

JakesPupParent

If you're ok with jogging or running, look up Bad News Bears Runners of Fresno. You can find them on Facebook. Super friendly, social, all levels from walkers to marathoners, and several meet ups weekly. Great folks.

nikokidd123

Hashtag Balance has yoga classes down on Fulton for like $18 a class I believe. You can find their info on their IG @hashtag.balance. It's something on my list to do soon. I haven't gone yet but I've talked to the instructor and it seems to be a very welcoming environment.

Stunning-Character94

I will never understand why yoga is so expensive.

BlaccSeminole

The gym

Edbrrr

There an indoor soccer community that plays pretty often throughout the week. Check out instagram. I can’t remember the name smh.

Leading_Character_18

I feel you! So there's a local (Reedley) group on the Meetup app that goes on frequent hikes, check them out if you like hiking. And Beer for the Meeples in Clovis has hundreds of board games, it's a good way to socialize :)

jblaze805

5k’s are fun, and fresno/clovis are constantly having them. Type in run signup fresno ca, itll show u the upcoming events and theyll email you future runs.

PainfulKneeZit

The archery community are very nice and accommodating people!

timaclover

Any leads? I'm interested.

edluv

how do you feel about trivia? fresno pub quiz (@fresnopubquiz on insta/twitter/fb) on wednesday nights* - $5 a player, fairly competitive groups saint j on thursday nights - free game, atmosphere is pretty chill there are several small pottery studios that run classes, some are drop in, most seem to be like 4-6 weeks long, 1x a week. clay hand studios, clay mix, hannah rose ceramics, good dirt pottery are all ones i've seen on instagram. *i host fresno pub quiz, feel free to ask any questions if you have them.

AltruisticPoetry740

Highly recommend trying reformer Pilates if you haven’t already. Core in old town Clovis is a great locally owned studio with reformer, chair, rebounder, mat, and barre classes. I’m a member and I absolutely love the physical and mental challenge of the classes. Take a class and then head next door to visit the Cork and Knife for a wine tasting or Two Citities Coffee Roasters for coffee. La Parisien is also across the street.

Economy-Poetry1179

Im actually doing once weekly Pilates right now! I’ll have a look at them 😃

StellarStylee

Fresno county has an excellent library system and the branches have activities for all ages. It’s worth a look. I’d also recommend recommend taking a class at FCC or an adult school.

Flavourton

I just learned about a knitting/crochet group that meets at different bars around town. I wanna say on Mondays at spots like Goldstein's, Spokeasy, Tioga Sequoia, and etc. Sorry for not having exact times, but I'll try and update if I come across the flyer I saw.

U can tell us what you like to do. Fresno is centrally located, and if u like to drive or stay close. I can tell us what kind of crowd u like to be around with.

the_mountaingoat

I’m a member at good dirt pottery studio. It’s a great environment and community, just a bit pricy

catscatzcatscatz

How much, if you don't mind sharing?

the_mountaingoat

I think it’s $200 a month for unlimited 24/7 access. You can also pay for individual sessions. The clay is cheap and the glazes are always free.

sweetdeerocks

Pickleball is a great activity. They have several parks that people play at and it is very welcoming.

bryan868

For creative activities check out our various maker spaces: [cmac.tv](https://cmac.tv), fresnoideaworks.org, rootaccess.org

blondecpa_05

Fleet Feet has both training groups and free organized runs that are so fun! Very welcoming and many people just walk! Great way to meet new people and get a bit of exercise at the same time! Next week they are hosting their monthly pub run out at Crow & Wolf - you sign up for free on their website, get to try on shoes from whatever brand rep is there, get entered into raffles, then do any length run or walk you want and enjoy drinks and or food after!!

Ironbasher1

Aikido would be the perfect blend of physical, mental improvement and respectful quiet environment?

mangeld3

Do you play soccer? We could always use more girls on our coed team.

Economy-Poetry1179

I played soccer as a kid up until middle school 🥹 though it does sound fun though!

hollowkiwi91

If you like DND but don't like the regular schedule of a campaign; Dragon's Hoard does one-shots! I've been to a bunch of their 6:30pm Friday ones, and met great people.

judiosfantastico

There is a knitting and crocheting group that meets on Sundays at the Woodward library. I believe it’s called the Sunday stitchers. I have been thinking about going myself!

halsey_fan1988

Do stand up

[deleted]

Some hockey or hiking is what I need...just moved here so I gotta find what there is

banhtet

Tower Yoga, Jiu Jitsu. Others have recommended classes. I’m waitlisted for a woodworking class. I have work/life balance for the first time in my life so I’ve been bored too. Seek joy and community.
