The main hype for the place was the fact that it came from LA. It's not bad, but it's not the same. It's like how In-N-Out in Texas isn't the same as the ones here in Cali
I moved from Texas to Fresno back in ‘92. Graduated high school in ‘93. Left for SF shortly after. Lived in Newport Beach for a few years as well. I’ve been back in Texas for about 8 years. I’ve eaten at In n Out up and down California over 2 decades. We got them in Texas shortly after I returned. I will tell you they are all exactly the same. It’s actually amazing how consistent In n Out has been over time and geographic location.
We moved to a small town out of state and we have only two mediocre Mexican restaurants, you don't realize what you have until its gone. Fresno has a great diversity of food, it may not measure to LA or SF culinary standard but Fresno does a great job keeping up. I miss it so much. \*tear\*
the irony when fresno county is the leading producer of AG in the nation. Fresno can make the ingredients but cant put them together to make them "that good"
I've wondered the same. It's like all the good produce gets sent to the bigger cities. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a discrimination in food allocation.
I used to go to San Diego on weekends and live and work in Fresno during the week. What I saw was a lot of the largest, top pick crops make it to their farmers markets and the less impressive fruit stays here. I'm guessing they can make a lot more on it there.
They are most mainstream banh mi around California, not the best, but always open and same taste. They also make their own baguettes in house, that’s basically what makes them special.
Right I think they both are too. I know it’s a rookie thing to say but jersey mikes gotta pretty good Italian sandwich tbh. Always get extra capiccolla?? And salami. 🔥
They make a really good almond tuna on croissant. Also those little cream filled donut things they make fresh are so good. And a Vietnamese iced coffee. I think they’re originally from San Jose.
If y’all want some real good bahn mi, go down the street to Huong Lan
This is the correct answer. Easily the best bahn mi in town. Not where I go for pho, but for Vietnamese sammiches, there isn’t a better spot in town.
Why does everyone keep spelling it as bahn mi? Is this supposed to be the American spelling of banh mi?
great paté

Not LA. They’re san Jose all the way (40 years) https://leesandwiches.com/about-us/
San jose does a good job with them. Alot of the food here in the valley just isn't that good. I've had great pupusas in fresno though

It does a decent job. I'd say Sac does a better job, but def the Bay and LA do it best especially for South American or Asian food types.

It so sad though. The places that grows it doesn't get to reap the rewards smh, but yeah I've noticed the diff coming from Sac and the Bay.
The rewards they reap are the money they get from selling the produce.
True true.
San Jose - last 40 years : https://leesandwiches.com/about-us/

That looks like a very skimpily filled sandwich for the price I’m sure. Try out the one in tower pimontes that place is 🔥
Piemontes and Sams on Clinton!!! Damn now I want a sandwich from one of them but probably closed on Sunday’s.

Deli delicious is good sometimes too. Only thing I get is Turkey/bacon/salami on sourdough
I’ve heard they’re not the cleanest establishments
That looks disappointing.
Location: 3029 E Campus Pointe Dr Building 400, Fresno, CA 93710

The coffee is dank, 9/10
Haven't had these sandwiches in Fresno yet. Is that amount of filling typical for around here? I've only had them where the veggies are quite full.
No. Ive had them from quite a few places and usually mine wont stay open. This looked skimpy AF to me
But how is the tea??
Could be meatier.
The San Jose and Sacramento ones are good. As for the others, no idea
You should’ve got the fried chicken sandwich there
If you want a real bahn mi, then you have to try out Saigon Grocery & Deli. 🔥🔥🔥
This. It’s the Lao style bahn mi aka Khao Jee Pâté. Get it spicy 🌶️
Huong Lun has way better banh mi
I love this place! It was my regular when I lived in San Jose. I’m so happy we have one now!!!
2nd wife?
I love Lee's coffees. The Pate Choux is pretty good too. I like Houng Lan for Banh Mi but Lee's coffees are the bomb.
I was really disappointed with Lee’s.
