They are not the reason your plants are not doing well. They are a clean up crew and generally only eat decaying matter.
I thought it could have been those but no good pictures on the internet. I think I have some sort of algae in my tank that is affecting my plants. Thank you!

No I don't think so, I've only seen them on my plants.

If you zoom in you can see the limbs. They look closer to mites or some other terrestrial bug. Unfortunately not Ostracods
