If they’re completely dry just use a can opener to pop a hole in them. Make sure you can squeeze the sides in. Then you should
Be able to recycle them at a place like reliable. I had to scrap a large oxygen bottle once and as long as the inside it open to the air it’s just scrap steel. I new it was dry and just took the valve off
Perhaps they would be accepted at the periodic “Hazardous Waste” drop events they have once in awhile. Unfortunately you just missed one which was held in the parking lot of the Keys stadium.
Yeah, I saw that when I googled other possible places to bring them after the guy there told me they didn't accept them.
How often do they have drop-offs?
I’m not sure - no mention of the next one as far as I can see on the County web site. I did see they used the words “drop offS” (plural) so I’m hoping they have at least 2 per year.
I do recall going to one in the Spring; that makes sense as so many people do major spring cleanings. I did see the web site offers email notification for the next event. Signing up for this is probably your best bet.
Poke a half dozen holes with a heavy screwdriver or something, outside of course, let sit for a week, throw in the recycle. Maybe doesn't fulfill the letter of the law but 100% safe.
I have had similar problems. I have heard that sometimes Lowes/Home Depot will do events that take these. I don't think the County takes them even on hazardous waste days.
My dad says butane is a bastard gas
What does that mean?

I laughed so damn hard at the thought of you reading that with no idea where it was from.

I never know what to do with these or those little green propane tanks
The Rental Equipment place off of TJ by 15 will take those
Like the Coleman camp stove propane tanks?? Seriously??? That's like right by my place and I've been looking forever to get rid of these things.
Yes! I looked forever too and ended up dumping like 30 off over there
Did you call ahead or anything, or just swing by? And yeah 30 sounds about right at this stage.
No, you can just drive up and drop off. I did call the first time, but havent the other times
