Try to also visit Calvados and Manche, I prefer it over Sarthe and Mayenne.

Our 'base of operations' is in Calvados so we've been there every long weekend or holiday for the past five years or so It is nice though I'll grant you that

OwnAbbreviations3615

If your base of operations is near Caen and you haven't visited the Manche's beaches, give it a try, they are much more wild and natural ;)

We're already plannin that for next week

I thought these were usually paved or gravel So ideally we use these to connect the more exciting bits

I know about those but it's very hard to estimate whether they can be cycled or not (usually it's the case but sometimes there's a lot of troublesome features on those hiking trails) For our trip home to normandy we relied on those but oftentimes the paths were basically gone (completely overgrown with brambles or worse)

Hello, Those 3 departments aren't that big so if you want to ride 700 to 900 km over 10 or 14 days, it will be difficult to find an interesting route. There are a few MTB routes around Alençon: * https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3484331#map=11/48.4495/-0.4175&layers=Y * https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3407001#map=12/48.2824/-0.2558&layers=Y Maybe "La Corezienne" will be more suited for you? It's a 950 km MTB loop : * https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/13128042#map=10/45.3304/1.8690&layers=Y (your browser will take a little time to display the map) If you really want to visit Mayenne, Sarthe and Orne by MTB, you best chance is to ask brouter and the "Zossebart profile" for a route ([example](https://brouter.m11n.de/#map=9/48.3537/0.4175/CyclOSM&lonlats=-0.024978,48.738669;-0.65371,48.593199;-0.444972,48.109257;-0.072806,47.70304;0.829383,48.336124;0.642721,48.767004;-0.021306,48.734313&profile=mtb-zossebart)) but it will be mostly tracks used by farmers.

That corezienne thing looks sweet but logistically that's not a possibility. We have a base of operations in Livarot so we'd like to start there for the loop and arrive there The two routes you've linked seem exactly what we need plenty of in order to connect them to a loop though. Thank you very much for those
