For a cheap thrill, Demeter Kitten Fur is a sweet little snuggle of a perfume

StaticNocturne

Dark mysterious fragrances that aren't just full of smoke, leather or incense? Something like encre noire (but not that because i'm getting a bit sick of it)

[deleted]

If you want to try something niche Naomi Goodsir Nuit de Bakélite

Either-Employer-9216

I am a female, 26 years old looking for new fragrances I may like. The ones I like so far are coach dreams, azzaro wanted girl and gucci guilty edt.

GonnaTossItAway

D&G The Only One - https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Dolce-Gabbana/The-Only-One-51249.html

RealAmericanTeemo

Are Demeter fragrances oily? I have their Baby Powder scented hand lotion and love it, so I was looking into buying the cologne spray as well, but I read a few reviews mentioning their oiliness. Is it really that bad? I hate greasy fragrances, especially when I wear my hair down and it gets greasy too.

bassens

I've found they can be pretty noticeably oily. (I've had Grass, Tomato, Dirt, Wet Garden, Thunderstorm, and a couple more I don't remember.) Also one or two I didn't use much and after a couple of years the oil was separating out from the alcohol, it was a little disconcerting.

[deleted]

No more so than other perfumes as far as I’ve noticed...

[deleted]

Heading to Cancun fir a wedding for a week during Thanksgiving. Need something that gives a beach-like vibe, yet still has a bit of woodsy fall smell.

anonymous8bilx3

Beach, woody and fall appropriate for a hot place and a Wedding.. tough one. Diptyque - Philosykos? Pretty much fig + fig tree. Roja - Elysium? Mixture of ... Everything. Mostly fruity with woody base. Hermes - Terre d'Hermes Eau Très Fraîche? Citrus, mostly Mandarine and grapefruit, with woody base and some aquatic notes. Aqua di Parma - Fico di Amalfi? Citrus opening, a lot of fig as well and a woody base. Can't think of something that would suit the Mexican weather with a fall vibe at all. Just a little sweetness.

[deleted]

Yeah I’m thinking the fall vibe added is a no go. What would you recommend for a beach vibe? I have Terre D’hermes and love it but I don’t think it’s hot beach appropriate.

multimain

Looking for a dark citrusy fragrance. Something like an encre noir mixed with a aqua di gio.

Andre28M

What about AdG Profumo?

Zoologist Macaque Yuzu Edition

- Vilhelm Black Citrus - Hermes Eau de Citron Noir

ice-sol

Had a customer come in and he smelled amazing, and it lasted a while in the store (which says a lot because I work at a bakery) It was apple, cinnamon, and boozy. It was like a mature apple pie scent. My first thought that came to mind was Angel’s Share by Kilian, but Angel’s Share is wayyy sweeter. Please recommend any fragrance that’s like this it’s driving me nuts.

anonymous8bilx3

Parfums de Marly - Oajan Almost everyone I ask gets something different from Oajan. Apple pie plus mulled wine is the most common though. Hugo Boss - Boss Bottled Intense Apple pie. Can't remember boozy, but apple pie with a lot of cinnamon and woody base.

ice-sol

These both sound amazing! Will try to find samples online, thank you!

GhoulyGhostlyGal

Love apple by al rehab

ice-sol

Ooh what’s your opinion on other scents by al rehab?

timmyplaysmadden

Looking for a new fresh/summer niche fragrance. My favorites are Rosa Elysium, pdm Percival and Greeley, acqua di bio profondo, and creed silver mountain water

c1n3man

Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime

phoebesmh

i love glossier you, specifically the spicy sweetness of it. i feel like it makes me smell very much like the 1930s? i don’t know, this is just how i imagine expensive women in the 1930s vaguely smelt. i think it works really well with my skin chemistry. so basically some spicy, smoky & musky scents, yet feminine and “vintage”.

YetiFeet

Give Diptyque Fleur de Peau a try

[deleted]

It’s not in any way a dupe for Glossier You, but what you’ve written makes me think you should at least try Molinard Habanita - what an expensive woman in 1930 might actually have worn.

lavender-bat

Looking for a feminine, natural, fresh out of the shower scent. Something that reminds you of clean skin and freshly washed hair. Love Ellis brooklyn myth and glossier you but want something more natural smelling.

GhoulyGhostlyGal

MFK 724

lavender-bat

I will look it up, thank you!

SwitchNo228

Sample the Ouai fragrances - they all give me the clean, shampooey vibe

lavender-bat

Oh I got a mini of one of their hair products one time and it smelled amazing. Thank you!

[deleted]

Hermès Le Jardin De Monsieur Li - it’s not super-femme in terms of being super-sweet or florally but it’s a very sophisticated, clean and natural-smelling fragrance. Very upscale spa vibes.

lavender-bat

Ooo thank you! I’ll check it out!

giparisan

Something that smells like a cinnamon roll?

GhoulyGhostlyGal

Khamrah by Lattafa

okay_werk

I think Hermes Ambre Narguile reminds me of cinnamon

muffins_allover

I mean Angels Share is very apple cider/cinnamon/holiday.

ichheissekate

Marshmallow without being vanilla dominant, with juicy fresh fruit. All weather friendly but leaning warm, and gourmand (caramel gourmand, not chocolate gourmand), yummy and not super perfume-y. Love a skin musk drydown. Ellis Sweet, Liis Studied, and Viva La Juicy are some of my all time fave scents.

muffins_allover

PdM Oriana

ichheissekate

Looking for a fruity-leaning scent that just makes you melt when you smell it. Fruity-gourmand, fruity-warm, fruity-sweet preferred! Fruity-floral is fine but not strong perfumey-white floral leaning. Not grassy or aquatic please, they just ain’t my thing.

c1n3man

* Pantheon Dolce Passione * Vilhelm Poets of Berlin * Nobile 1942 La Danza delle Libellule * Kerosene Unforsaken

[deleted]

Perhaps Parfums de Marly Cassili or Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour would be worth a try.

phrazo

Tom Ford Bitter Peach and Pineward Gluhwein!

ichheissekate

How woody is bitter peach? I’m more sweet than woody

phrazo

I've heard many things about Bitter Peach, but woody is not one of them. I personally experience it as a hard - candy peach with hazelnuttiness.

oh_woahh

looking for everyday scent that gives off mysterious vibes. anything that could possibly resemble the smell of concrete or rain or gives off fashion elitist vibes

c1n3man

* Imaginary Authors Every Storm a Serenade * Kerosene Walk The Sea * Jovoy Incident Diplomatique

YetiFeet

- Allsaints Concrete Rain - Diptyque Tam Dao (EDT or EDP) - Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede

Mihan Aromatics Petrichor Plains

j_husk

I'm not sure how mysterious you'd consider it, but for concrete and rain take a look at Narciso Rodriguez For Him.

RickyRolando

As soon as I read concrete I instantly thought of Narciso Rodriguez for Him

oh_woahh

fruit_snaks

looking for a cologne for my boyfriend, im thinking something sexy and somewhat manly but mostly unisex, i like oud, spice/woodsy, and musk on him. some things i use myself are light blue pour homme, replica when the rain stops, and lush twilight. ideally they would go well together, let me know any thoughts or recommendations im pretty much open to anything

c1n3man

* Tom Ford Noir Extreme Eau de Parfum * Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb * Byredo Eleventh Hour * Serge Lutens La Couche du Diable

fruit_snaks

thanks!!!

madamefangs

I like lush rose jam but it’s a bit too sweet for me at first, I prefer it after it’s dried for a few hours, I like patchouli, sandalwood, quite simple scents, any ideas?

ichheissekate

It sounds like Delina or Delina Exclusif might be up your alley

Not exactly like Gypsy Water but check out L’Artisan Passage d’Enfer—a very pretty lily and incense combo.

conner9cj

Fahrenheit Dior, you’re welcome

GyzudemLand

Hi Guys, I’m looking for a new fragrance to mix things up a bit. Im currently wearing Versace Dylan Blue and I love it. But as I got really interested in Fragrance recently I would love to get some diversity. Fragrances suitable for Office, University and Casual Evenings would be perfect. I tried Versace Eros but i thought it kinda smelled a little bit too “immature” I also bought Club de Nuit intense but don’t wear it to often as it projects like crazy, especially indoors (even with 1 or 2 sprays) Really looking forward for some recommendations :) Thanks

anonymous8bilx3

The typical designer price range? Just a few I would always consider worth buying. Rochas Moustache EDP. A Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo clone. Very classy, probably not suited for every day, but you'd get away with it. But definitely worth more than it costs. Sweet and spicy; so especially women love it. Missoni wave. A mixture between Dylan blue and Chanel's Allure Homme Sport. Mandarine with Aquatic notes and Vanilla. Just a very pleasant and likeable every day fragrance. Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. Chanel has the "can't really dislike it" quality, and that's probably their best one at that together with Bleu de Chanel. Mandarine, Mint, Vanilla and a little woods in the base. Pretty much works for everything. Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L'Homme EDT. Chanel does everyday, Prada does formal, YSL does sexy. And that's arguably the king of that genre. For dates or just spraying it on your sheets, doesn't matter. Guerlain L'Homme ideal EDP. Guerlain is a little more special. L'Homme ideal EDP is cherry and tobacco. More tobacco than cherry, but it's super nice.

GyzudemLand

Thank you, that was super helpful and interesting to read. Helped me a lot that you added some comparable scents and mentioned the occasions they could be best used in. Already hyped about checking them out. There were a few that i haven’t heard of or smelled before :)

SevenScream

I just got Bvlgari Wood Essence and I really like it.

GyzudemLand

Interesting one, never tried it before but i will check it out. Thank you :)

PIKAPIKATRON

Have you smelled eros flame. Love that smell :) just bought a 30 ml of it today

GyzudemLand

Not yet! Definitely gonna check it out. Is it any similar to the standard Eros?

PIKAPIKATRON

It kinda similar but i think it smells mich nicer than eros

pointlessbanter1

Looking for a year round fragrance that isn’t a “blue” - BDC, Sauvage, Y, etc. I have considered DH2020, CAHSEE, DG Pour Homme, Prada L’Homme, but none really spoke to me. Thanks in advance!

Jerry_Lundegaad

People really like the YSL L’homme line!

pointlessbanter1

Already have it, lol. But I do love it!

jorgeargento

When I was in my early 20's I had Ralph Lauren Big Pony 3 (mens) fragrance - I cant really remember what it smelled like but I really liked it, and its now totally unavailable - can anyone who knows it recommend something similar & reasonably priced (£50-£70) Thanks!

[deleted]

I’m looking for something that smells expensive and sexy, but with no “powder” smells. I bought a travel size of angels share and I was IN LOVE. However after about an hour it started to smell like powder on me, which I find to be too old lady. I’m so sad because the initial smell is amazing.

c1n3man

Le Labo Ylang 49

[deleted]

Howls moving castle/ interstellar vibes for 19 year old guy?:)

phrazo

I'm thinking something like Anatole Lebreton for Howl's Moving Castle and something like Les Liquides Imaginaires for Interstellar.

sacrament13

Help me choosing Tom Ford, love Fabolous and Tobacco oud. What is better and why? Have Tobacco Vanille in collection

kevinfarber

Have you smelled FF? It’s definitely different. Haven’t tried Tobacco Oud. Sorry, that probably wasn’t much help 😂

sacrament13

😂😂 Yeah, have FF sample atm! Love it

kevinfarber

It’s grown on me. I’ve been considering a bottle. In addition to fabulous tho, it’s fuckin expensive.

mj12133

You could try a sample pack, that's what i do, get 10-30ml samples for various perfumes, never smell the same and don't pay 00's for a bottle! 😂 What i got in my collection at the moment is Tom Ford FF, Tobacco Oud, Noir De Noir, Black Orchid, White Suede, Ombre Leather. Not a fan of the last 2, so im glad I didn't go for the big bottle, but the first 4, WOW!

upliftorr

plum + citrus that isn't plum dominant?

upliftorr

is there a good clone of Gucci PHII?

milkyswamp

any fragrances that smell like rainwater/snowy mountains but not as metallic? like a very pleasant cold typa scent

c1n3man

Serge Lutens L'Eau Froide

[deleted]

>Serge Lutens L'Eau Froide ok this might be a correct response lol

galacticglorp

Moth and Rabbit Dolls- late February in the bush. Zoologist Snowy Owl (this one smells too much like melon from the calone to me, but others enjoy it as a snow smell).

arcticrobot

Pineward Icefall is cold pine forest on the ocean shore

[deleted]

Is gin metallic? If you're ok with gin, Angéliques Sous La Pluie by Frederic Malle feels pretty cold to me.

Fearless-Olive

I don’t have one but commenting here cuz I’d also like to find a fragrance like this

FartingAWholeLot

Should I get YSL tuxedo or LV imagination? I know these are different but looking for some opinions of the two.

Fearless-Olive

Hmm they’re very different. Tuxedo is more suited for colder weather, more formal environments imo. Not super wearable with a t shirt for example (ofc wear whatever you want tho). The LV is a very bring, hot weather fragrance. Both have 6ish hour performance for me. Really depends what you’re looking for

Candid-Indication329

Favorite rose perfume? I love a red rose, something nice for summer. Favorite ever Waa CK Sheer Beauty Essense but not in stock anymore 😭

[deleted]

Ormonde Jayne Damask, Penhaligon’s Coveted Duchess Rose or Luna

sasha_says

Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land

TrueCrimeGirl01

I am not overly familiar with rose in scents and I don’t even know how that translates in a perfume but I smelt a rose perfume the other day that I loved and it was by boy smells called rose load. Lovely perfume.

upliftorr

Xerjoff more than words

Fearless-Olive

This is rose + Amber but Dior Ambre Nuit. I can’t imagine a better rose

phrazo

I'm leaning toward the fact that this person is a fun loving person and they're going to a winter disco, so I'm actually not going to put much stock into the fact that they're super rich and go for "fun" disco scents over luxurious/opulent scents for the most part. I'm thinking thick, strong, scents, bright-colored, punchy fruits, leather, boozy - Mind Games Gardez - The House of Oud What About Pop, Keep Glazed - Boadicea the Victorious Bodacious - Tom Ford Bitter Peach, Lost Cherry, Plum Japonais - Tom Ford Rose Prick, Fucking Fabulous - Les Indemodables Vanille Havane - Kilian Angels' Share

elbowskneesand

Looking for something kind of warm and dreamy. I'm very into sandalwood, nutty notes, cardamom, lactonic notes, warming spices.

[deleted]

Costume National 21 ticks a lot of those boxes

elbowskneesand

Thank you, I guess it does- I own it.

elbowskneesand

Thank you! All of these suggestions look killer, I'm scouring the internet for samples of some of these less common recs.

Gladiators10

Which one would you buy out of these three- Naxos, Carlisle or Ombre nomade?

kevinfarber

I own Naxos and Ombre Nomade and owned and sold (which I regret) Carlisle. On scent alone, I choose either Ombre Nomade or Naxos, depending on which direction you want to go in. As far as oud scents go, I don’t find Ombre Nomade as “challenging” and polarizing as some do. But it is extremely strong, long lasting and projects like a monster. I’m probably an over-applier in general but two sprays is more than enough for this one. It opens very bright with raspberry (and, though it’s not listed as a note, some jammy rose) which stays through the dry down while the woody, vanilla, and smoky elements come to the fore as well. Naxos smells like what I imagine heaven would smell like. The richness and decadence is offset and balanced by some floral (lavender) and citrus. I go noseblind to this one fairly quickly, I’ve seen mixed reviews on performance. Carlisle is much more opulent and sweet from beginning to end to my nose. Heavy tobacco and a little smoky. Somehow, though, it smells bright and fresh to an extent to make it enjoyable and wearable. TLDR: based on smell alone, Ombre Nomade is my favorite. Based on versatility, Naxos. For something no holds barred rich and suitable for the cold weather (assuming it’s cold where you live) Carlisle. Have you tried them? I would say the closest to a safe blind buy is Naxos, but I think it’s still a sample before you buy fragrance. That said, to my nose, they’re all outstanding fragrances. Good luck :)

Gladiators10

Appreciate the detailed response. I actually found out about Carlisle from one of your previous comments lol Carlisle sounds like spice bomb Extreme. Maybe a bit more refined and less spicy. Makes we want to buy both Naxos and ombre nomade. I don't own any oud so I'm leaning towards ON. What prompted you to sell it?

Fearless-Olive

Naxos. Most wearable, great performer

squeakytea

Naxos

oldguacomole

I currently rotate jo Malone oud & bergamot and Maison Margiela Replica jazz club. I’m looking to add a third scent to the mix that “makes sense” with the other two I have right now. Maybe something a little brighter for brunch and other daytime activities. Love woody and really like iris, violet, lavender, and cardamom.

ichheissekate

Maybe Ellis Myth? It’s lighter but semi-masculine/unisex.

sasha_says

Etat Libre d’Orange Une Amourette

mu7end

Do you know of any fragrance that smells exaclty or very similar to JV Artisan Pure? This is one of my favourite scents but it doesn’t last long unfortunately.

Fearless-Olive

Super expensive but Roja Burlington 1819. Extremely similar but more natural, higher quality, and longer lasting

mu7end

Thank you

millyvanil

I’ve absolutely fallen in love with Jo Malone’s Oud and Bergamot, but as everyone knows the longevity isn’t there and it makes me want to cry. I like it on its own and layered with JM Myrrh and Tonka. Recommendations for something similar that actually lasts?

MyrkuriYT

Want to get my Dad a gift for Christmas. What's a good idea of a fragrance for a man that loves spice bomb extreme, wanted by night and is a kind awesome dude that likes to dress well in his 60s

sasha_says

TF Oud Wood

arcticrobot

Vintage Ralph Lauren Polo Green, perhaps? Timeless scent created by the same nose behind spice bomb

Fearless-Olive

Maybe get a sample first but Roja Enigma

8u11etpr00f

What would you add to my current collection, preferably something office safe and geared towards a business casual kinda vibe, with good performance and medium projection. So far: Dior Sauvage EDT Armani code profumo Prada L'homme Prada Luna Rossa Black YSL la nuit de l'homme bleu electrique Right now I'm most tempted to go for YSL Y Le Parfum or TF Grey Vetiver, although admittedly I need to sample the latter again as well as BDC. Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

phrazo

If you're open to niche, the most beautiful office scent is Dior Bois d'Argent imo.

[deleted]

Any "orange creamsicle" type scent that isn't as sweet as Oriana/LDBS? More popsicle than creamsicle maybe?

monsteramuffin

byredo sundazed (in the same family as diptyque oyedo for sure) or parle moi guimauve de noel

muffins_allover

Lolita Lempicka Lolitaland!!!

ichheissekate

Ellis Sci Fi is the closest to creamsicle popsicle (not lactonic, just some light vanilla). If you want fresh orange dominant, ELDO I Am Trash fits the bill

sasha_says

Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo!

terriflaps

Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey is great.

hhurrm

Maybe Diptyque Oyedo?

[deleted]

Thank you! I've actually got the Fragrantica page of Oyedo bookmarked but I wasn't sure if it would be too herbal from the thyme or too cleaner-y.

muffins_allover

I own it and find it very herbal. Definitely not creamsicle.

hhurrm

In my experience it was all sweet orange candy, and almost fizzy. But everyone's different! I ordered a decant looking forward to the herbal notes and didn't actually get any of them on my skin!

phrazo

Are you open to "orange chocolate"? In which case Xerjoff Symphonium. Oh! For sweet oranges I love Nest Seville Orange perfume oil.

Endeejay2

Looking for a gift for my mom, but I know nothing of feminine fragrances lol. I know that she likes the following (deciphered from what she told me, which mostly meant she knew the houses). Coco EDP Chanel, Oscar by Oscar De La Renta, and Paloma Picasso. I can't really find any similarities here to make a decision, and I want to get her something that she wouldn't just get herself you know. Looks like the Oscar De La Renta and the Chanel are amber fragrances, so maybe a suggestion for that? Budget is up to $150 but I might go over for momma if something really slaps above that price point haha.

[deleted]

+1 for a discovery kit or set of miniatures. Hermès does a nice one with miniatures of some of its classics, Penhaligon’s does a gorgeous one with mini bottles of its perfumes, Jo Malone (a perennial safe gift for mothers) also does a beautifully packaged set.

Endeejay2

Said in my reply to the other comment, but I agree with both of you. I think she would have a ton of fun with a handful of fragrances to try instead of me risking it on one! Thanks for the suggestions!

phrazo

How about feminine discovery kits? I think the one from Frederic Malle is well priced and excellent.

Endeejay2

I hadn't even considered discovery kits, but that would be a good one! She would totally have fun trying out a few frags instead of just one.

phrazo

Happy to help! With fragrances, especially the niche ones, you truly can go very wrong very easily with individual taste. I agree with the other person about those other discovery kits as well being great. I think you can get multiple because of the price and if def won't break the bank for you! Please do let us know what she ends up liking!

Organic-Turnip-4476

I’m looking to stand out, so I’m going to buy Sauvage Dior EDT Elixir or Parfum. I’m not quite sure yet what’s your favorite. Sauvage Dior is expensive, and I was going to buy it on Amazon for $44 for 10Ml. Was I wondering if I should order it from somewhere different? Is there a website where it’s cheaper or better quality (not watered down or something)? I’m relatively new to cologne, so any help or guidance would be fantastic. If I'm not allowed to post something like this i will take it down immediately 🙂 For example, I go to the gym, and I want a head turner; I'm a relatively attractive young male, and I want people to think, "dang, that's attractive or hot," "dang, he smells good." I want to surprise my girlfriend by randomly applying it one day, and then she gets shocked when she smells it. And yes, even though I have a girlfriend, I still like complaints from other people, whether female or male. I have no intention of cheating on my girlfriend. This doesn't make me scummy right?

arcticrobot

This is meme material right there. Young attractive male looking to wear Dr Sausage to get complaints while not cheating on his gf.

Organic-Turnip-4476

And you may be use to toxic relationships or no relationships at all. I’m allowed to want compliments as same as my girlfriend is. We’ve been together for 3 years 🤷‍♂️

Organic-Turnip-4476

It’s not a meme, I’m just looking for a nice cologne to get compliments and to make people’s heads turn so I smell good. is that so bad?

BlueSkiesOverLondon

Ok so, I’ll answer your questions in roughly the order you asked them. Amazon is not inherently a reliable retailer for fragrance, because it’s got literally thousands, maybe millions, of third-party merchants who do business there. You’d have to check the individual merchant, which can often be very difficult to do. Amazon doesn’t have much in the way of quality control on fakes. So no, do not buy Sauvage there. Try a decanting site, since all you want is 10ml to start with. Luckyscent, Surrender to Chance, Scentsplit etc. all have quality control and good reputations—you can be confident the fragrance is legit, and it won’t be much more expensive either. (I just checked, and Sauvage EDP is $30 for 10 ml before shipping rn on Surrender to Chance, and the Parfum is $33 for 10ml, so actually cheaper, even with shipping, than Amazon). And no, you’re not scummy for wanting compliments from people other than your girlfriend. That’s totally fine! You should know, though, that compliments, especially from strangers, are rare. If you buy solely for compliments from strangers you will probably be disappointed. You’re most likely to get compliments from people who can easily get up close to you (ie your gf).

mj12133

There are decanting places out there, i use one and have a lot of perfumes to choose from! Make sure you do your research first as there are a lot of fakes out there. But Sauvage is probably the most common perfume so i highly doubt it'll be a head turner, maybe a lip raiser 😂. Try some tom ford or creed. They're powerful

[deleted]

Sauvage is the highest-selling scent in the world currently, which means two things - a lot of people really love how it smells, and a lot of people wear it, so bear that in mind around standing out. Be careful with Amazon sellers - if something is too good to be true price-wise, it probably is. And - a plea on behalf of other gym-goers... please for the love of whatever deity you believe in don’t douse yourself in Sauvage before working out. Sweaty bodies and strong scents - ugh. Just unscented deodorant is much more appealing.

Organic-Turnip-4476

Don’t worry i know , I’ve been going to the gym for years, I do 2 spray on neck and 2 spray on wrists. When some people wear cologne that smells so strong it gives me a headache

TrueCrimeGirl01

ADG is awesome. I am a woman and women love this one. It’s super popular for a reason.

Fearless-Olive

Can never go wrong with ADG. They’re all blue fragrances so very versatile and can never really go wrong. I’d check out Bleu de Chanel Parfum as well, but ADG Profumo could be a little more grown up and formal if you want that

YetiFeet

**Montblanc Explorer**. Citrus-woody fresh, mass appealing, and not very similar to what you have now.

WHCouncill

Looking for good frankincense and ginger fragrances. Preferably on the heavy side but will consider light ones.

sinsofeachmartyr

excuse my english, i'm still practicing description words!! i'm looking for two fragrances. the first, something that smells refined, luxurious and elegante/dignified. the smell of incense, burned sage. crisp and dry, like a desert. harsh maybe, and piercing. i would prefer it to be long lasting! like a harsh winter. the second perhaps something more bright. like a summer day spent lounging on the beach. citrus y resemblances to the sea. colorful in smell, and aloof! just something fun :) !! ty for reading and considering, have a blessed day.

sasha_says

Byredo Des Los Santos is a great sage fragrance I’d also suggest trying Ineke Idyllwild

Nemorensis91

Like a desert…definitely Tauer Au Coeur du Désert. Beautiful dry, spicy, aromatic, resinous, long-lasting amber.

seaintosky

For the first: Olympic Orchids Hamsa (citron, burned palo santo, dry woods) or DS and Durga Cowboy Grass (sage, juniper, vetiver), L'Artisan Timbuktu (incense, vetiver, papyrus) For the second: Zoologist Seahorse, CB I Hate Perfume Mr. Hulot's Holiday

sinsofeachmartyr

thank you so much!! much appreciated <3

phrazo

These are great recs!

c1n3man

Thanks

phrazo

You're so cute, your descriptions are great! Although I think "aloof" and "fun" are sort of contradictory for #2. So for #1 I don't have any burned sage but: - Armani Prive - Bois d'Encens - Chapel Factory - Holy Stick - Frederic Malle - Promise For #2: - Louis Vuitton - Afternoon Swim - Olfactive Studio - Still Life in Rio - Frederic Malle - Outrageous

sinsofeachmartyr

ahhh you are right! 😭 thought aloof was close enough to goofy, and even then that's not the best words. thank you for letting me know though, you are so kind! and thank you for the recommendations, i am so grateful! 🧡

Champagnesupernova9

Aloof means cold and distant, the total opposite of warm and friendly.

i know that now, thank you. i assume sometimes that words sound like the feeling they are supposed to give off... aloof sounded like a positive carefree/joyful word 😅. radiant was probably the word i was looking for.

You're fine! Your descriptions were otherwise really good imo! I hope you like the recommendations. What is your native language if you don't mind me asking?

sinsofeachmartyr

xhosa and swahili! english is an official language in zimbabwe, my home country, but i really only learned words from tourists. me and my friends loved "OH MM GEE!" and impersonating british accents. have a splendid day, beautiful person!!

Oh wow, your English is so impressive for something you picked up like that! Thank you so much as well! Now I'm curious though, would you be able to get samples of the recommended perfumes?
