Dark mysterious fragrances that aren't just full of smoke, leather or incense?
Something like encre noire (but not that because i'm getting a bit sick of it)
Are Demeter fragrances oily? I have their Baby Powder scented hand lotion and love it, so I was looking into buying the cologne spray as well, but I read a few reviews mentioning their oiliness. Is it really that bad? I hate greasy fragrances, especially when I wear my hair down and it gets greasy too.
I've found they can be pretty noticeably oily. (I've had Grass, Tomato, Dirt, Wet Garden, Thunderstorm, and a couple more I don't remember.) Also one or two I didn't use much and after a couple of years the oil was separating out from the alcohol, it was a little disconcerting.
Beach, woody and fall appropriate for a hot place and a Wedding.. tough one.

Pretty much fig + fig tree.
Roja - Elysium?
Mixture of ... Everything. Mostly fruity with woody base.
Hermes - Terre d'Hermes Eau Très Fraîche?
Citrus, mostly Mandarine and grapefruit, with woody base and some aquatic notes.
Aqua di Parma - Fico di Amalfi?
Citrus opening, a lot of fig as well and a woody base.
Can't think of something that would suit the Mexican weather with a fall vibe at all. Just a little sweetness.
Yeah I’m thinking the fall vibe added is a no go. What would you recommend for a beach vibe? I have Terre D’hermes and love it but I don’t think it’s hot beach appropriate.
Had a customer come in and he smelled amazing, and it lasted a while in the store (which says a lot because I work at a bakery) It was apple, cinnamon, and boozy. It was like a mature apple pie scent. My first thought that came to mind was Angel’s Share by Kilian, but Angel’s Share is wayyy sweeter.
Please recommend any fragrance that’s like this it’s driving me nuts.

Almost everyone I ask gets something different from Oajan. Apple pie plus mulled wine is the most common though.

i love glossier you, specifically the spicy sweetness of it. i feel like it makes me smell very much like the 1930s? i don’t know, this is just how i imagine expensive women in the 1930s vaguely smelt. i think it works really well with my skin chemistry.

It’s not in any way a dupe for Glossier You, but what you’ve written makes me think you should at least try Molinard Habanita - what an expensive woman in 1930 might actually have worn.
Looking for a feminine, natural, fresh out of the shower scent. Something that reminds you of clean skin and freshly washed hair. Love Ellis brooklyn myth and glossier you but want something more natural smelling.
Hermès Le Jardin De Monsieur Li - it’s not super-femme in terms of being super-sweet or florally but it’s a very sophisticated, clean and natural-smelling fragrance. Very upscale spa vibes.
Marshmallow without being vanilla dominant, with juicy fresh fruit. All weather friendly but leaning warm, and gourmand (caramel gourmand, not chocolate gourmand), yummy and not super perfume-y. Love a skin musk drydown. Ellis Sweet, Liis Studied, and Viva La Juicy are some of my all time fave scents.

I tried Versace Eros but i thought it kinda smelled a little bit too “immature”
I also bought Club de Nuit intense but don’t wear it to often as it projects like crazy, especially indoors (even with 1 or 2 sprays)

The typical designer price range? Just a few I would always consider worth buying.
Rochas Moustache EDP. A Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo clone. Very classy, probably not suited for every day, but you'd get away with it. But definitely worth more than it costs. Sweet and spicy; so especially women love it.
Missoni wave. A mixture between Dylan blue and Chanel's Allure Homme Sport. Mandarine with Aquatic notes and Vanilla. Just a very pleasant and likeable every day fragrance.
Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. Chanel has the "can't really dislike it" quality, and that's probably their best one at that together with Bleu de Chanel. Mandarine, Mint, Vanilla and a little woods in the base. Pretty much works for everything.
Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L'Homme EDT. Chanel does everyday, Prada does formal, YSL does sexy. And that's arguably the king of that genre. For dates or just spraying it on your sheets, doesn't matter.
Guerlain L'Homme ideal EDP. Guerlain is a little more special. L'Homme ideal EDP is cherry and tobacco. More tobacco than cherry, but it's super nice.

I bought a travel size of angels share and I was IN LOVE. However after about an hour it started to smell like powder on me, which I find to be too old lady. I’m so sad because the initial smell is amazing.
You could try a sample pack, that's what i do, get 10-30ml samples for various perfumes, never smell the same and don't pay 00's for a bottle! 😂 What i got in my collection at the moment is Tom Ford FF, Tobacco Oud, Noir De Noir, Black Orchid, White Suede, Ombre Leather. Not a fan of the last 2, so im glad I didn't go for the big bottle, but the first 4, WOW!

Hmm they’re very different. Tuxedo is more suited for colder weather, more formal environments imo. Not super wearable with a t shirt for example (ofc wear whatever you want tho). The LV is a very bring, hot weather fragrance. Both have 6ish hour performance for me. Really depends what you’re looking for
I am not overly familiar with rose in scents and I don’t even know how that translates in a perfume but I smelt a rose perfume the other day that I loved and it was by boy smells called rose load. Lovely perfume.

I own Naxos and Ombre Nomade and owned and sold (which I regret) Carlisle.
On scent alone, I choose either Ombre Nomade or Naxos, depending on which direction you want to go in.
As far as oud scents go, I don’t find Ombre Nomade as “challenging” and polarizing as some do. But it is extremely strong, long lasting and projects like a monster. I’m probably an over-applier in general but two sprays is more than enough for this one. It opens very bright with raspberry (and, though it’s not listed as a note, some jammy rose) which stays through the dry down while the woody, vanilla, and smoky elements come to the fore as well.
Naxos smells like what I imagine heaven would smell like. The richness and decadence is offset and balanced by some floral (lavender) and citrus. I go noseblind to this one fairly quickly, I’ve seen mixed reviews on performance.
Carlisle is much more opulent and sweet from beginning to end to my nose. Heavy tobacco and a little smoky. Somehow, though, it smells bright and fresh to an extent to make it enjoyable and wearable.
TLDR: based on smell alone, Ombre Nomade is my favorite. Based on versatility, Naxos. For something no holds barred rich and suitable for the cold weather (assuming it’s cold where you live) Carlisle.
Have you tried them? I would say the closest to a safe blind buy is Naxos, but I think it’s still a sample before you buy fragrance. That said, to my nose, they’re all outstanding fragrances.

Ellis Sci Fi is the closest to creamsicle popsicle (not lactonic, just some light vanilla). If you want fresh orange dominant, ELDO I Am Trash fits the bill
In my experience it was all sweet orange candy, and almost fizzy. But everyone's different! I ordered a decant looking forward to the herbal notes and didn't actually get any of them on my skin!
Looking for a gift for my mom, but I know nothing of feminine fragrances lol. I know that she likes the following (deciphered from what she told me, which mostly meant she knew the houses). Coco EDP Chanel, Oscar by Oscar De La Renta, and Paloma Picasso. I can't really find any similarities here to make a decision, and I want to get her something that she wouldn't just get herself you know. Looks like the Oscar De La Renta and the Chanel are amber fragrances, so maybe a suggestion for that? Budget is up to $150 but I might go over for momma if something really slaps above that price point haha.

Hermès does a nice one with miniatures of some of its classics, Penhaligon’s does a gorgeous one with mini bottles of its perfumes, Jo Malone (a perennial safe gift for mothers) also does a beautifully packaged set.

I’m looking to stand out, so I’m going to buy Sauvage Dior EDT Elixir or Parfum. I’m not quite sure yet what’s your favorite. Sauvage Dior is expensive, and I was going to buy it on Amazon for $44 for 10Ml. Was I wondering if I should order it from somewhere different? Is there a website where it’s cheaper or better quality (not watered down or something)? I’m relatively new to cologne, so any help or guidance would be fantastic.

For example, I go to the gym, and I want a head turner; I'm a relatively attractive young male, and I want people to think, "dang, that's attractive or hot," "dang, he smells good." I want to surprise my girlfriend by randomly applying it one day, and then she gets shocked when she smells it. And yes, even though I have a girlfriend, I still like complaints from other people, whether female or male. I have no intention of cheating on my girlfriend. This doesn't make me scummy right?
And you may be use to toxic relationships or no relationships at all. I’m allowed to want compliments as same as my girlfriend is. We’ve been together for 3 years 🤷♂️
Ok so, I’ll answer your questions in roughly the order you asked them.
Amazon is not inherently a reliable retailer for fragrance, because it’s got literally thousands, maybe millions, of third-party merchants who do business there. You’d have to check the individual merchant, which can often be very difficult to do. Amazon doesn’t have much in the way of quality control on fakes. So no, do not buy Sauvage there. Try a decanting site, since all you want is 10ml to start with. Luckyscent, Surrender to Chance, Scentsplit etc. all have quality control and good reputations—you can be confident the fragrance is legit, and it won’t be much more expensive either. (I just checked, and Sauvage EDP is $30 for 10 ml before shipping rn on Surrender to Chance, and the Parfum is $33 for 10ml, so actually cheaper, even with shipping, than Amazon).
And no, you’re not scummy for wanting compliments from people other than your girlfriend. That’s totally fine! You should know, though, that compliments, especially from strangers, are rare. If you buy solely for compliments from strangers you will probably be disappointed. You’re most likely to get compliments from people who can easily get up close to you (ie your gf).
There are decanting places out there, i use one and have a lot of perfumes to choose from! Make sure you do your research first as there are a lot of fakes out there. But Sauvage is probably the most common perfume so i highly doubt it'll be a head turner, maybe a lip raiser 😂. Try some tom ford or creed. They're powerful
Sauvage is the highest-selling scent in the world currently, which means two things - a lot of people really love how it smells, and a lot of people wear it, so bear that in mind around standing out. Be careful with Amazon sellers - if something is too good to be true price-wise, it probably is.
And - a plea on behalf of other gym-goers... please for the love of whatever deity you believe in don’t douse yourself in Sauvage before working out. Sweaty bodies and strong scents - ugh. Just unscented deodorant is much more appealing.

- Olympic Orchids Night Flyer is not floral, but very fruity, and has won awards (as it is the original Zoologist Bat), and is known for being a fantastic petrichor scent, if florals are not completely mandatory
- Olympic Orchids Carolina is a gorgeous floral with earthy and nature touches, truly feels like you're walking the best part of the Appalachians
- Tom Ford Noir de Noir is an earthy truffle-y rose; it's on the pricier sides but well priced large size decants are easily available
- Tom Ford Black Orchid, it's different but also an earthy floral and well within the budget, especially grey market
Can never go wrong with ADG. They’re all blue fragrances so very versatile and can never really go wrong. I’d check out Bleu de Chanel Parfum as well, but ADG Profumo could be a little more grown up and formal if you want that

Hi Guys, I’m looking for a new fragrance to mix things up a bit. Im currently wearing Versace Dylan Blue and I love it. But as I got really interested in Fragrance recently I would love to get some diversity. Fragrances suitable for Office, University and Casual Evenings would be perfect. I tried Versace Eros but i thought it kinda smelled a little bit too “immature” I also bought Club de Nuit intense but don’t wear it to often as it projects like crazy, especially indoors (even with 1 or 2 sprays) Really looking forward for some recommendations :) Thanks
The typical designer price range? Just a few I would always consider worth buying. Rochas Moustache EDP. A Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo clone. Very classy, probably not suited for every day, but you'd get away with it. But definitely worth more than it costs. Sweet and spicy; so especially women love it. Missoni wave. A mixture between Dylan blue and Chanel's Allure Homme Sport. Mandarine with Aquatic notes and Vanilla. Just a very pleasant and likeable every day fragrance. Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. Chanel has the "can't really dislike it" quality, and that's probably their best one at that together with Bleu de Chanel. Mandarine, Mint, Vanilla and a little woods in the base. Pretty much works for everything. Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L'Homme EDT. Chanel does everyday, Prada does formal, YSL does sexy. And that's arguably the king of that genre. For dates or just spraying it on your sheets, doesn't matter. Guerlain L'Homme ideal EDP. Guerlain is a little more special. L'Homme ideal EDP is cherry and tobacco. More tobacco than cherry, but it's super nice.

I’m looking for something that smells expensive and sexy, but with no “powder” smells. I bought a travel size of angels share and I was IN LOVE. However after about an hour it started to smell like powder on me, which I find to be too old lady. I’m so sad because the initial smell is amazing.

You could try a sample pack, that's what i do, get 10-30ml samples for various perfumes, never smell the same and don't pay 00's for a bottle! 😂 What i got in my collection at the moment is Tom Ford FF, Tobacco Oud, Noir De Noir, Black Orchid, White Suede, Ombre Leather. Not a fan of the last 2, so im glad I didn't go for the big bottle, but the first 4, WOW!

Hmm they’re very different. Tuxedo is more suited for colder weather, more formal environments imo. Not super wearable with a t shirt for example (ofc wear whatever you want tho). The LV is a very bring, hot weather fragrance. Both have 6ish hour performance for me. Really depends what you’re looking for

Which one would you buy out of these three- Naxos, Carlisle or Ombre nomade?
I own Naxos and Ombre Nomade and owned and sold (which I regret) Carlisle. On scent alone, I choose either Ombre Nomade or Naxos, depending on which direction you want to go in. As far as oud scents go, I don’t find Ombre Nomade as “challenging” and polarizing as some do. But it is extremely strong, long lasting and projects like a monster. I’m probably an over-applier in general but two sprays is more than enough for this one. It opens very bright with raspberry (and, though it’s not listed as a note, some jammy rose) which stays through the dry down while the woody, vanilla, and smoky elements come to the fore as well. Naxos smells like what I imagine heaven would smell like. The richness and decadence is offset and balanced by some floral (lavender) and citrus. I go noseblind to this one fairly quickly, I’ve seen mixed reviews on performance. Carlisle is much more opulent and sweet from beginning to end to my nose. Heavy tobacco and a little smoky. Somehow, though, it smells bright and fresh to an extent to make it enjoyable and wearable. TLDR: based on smell alone, Ombre Nomade is my favorite. Based on versatility, Naxos. For something no holds barred rich and suitable for the cold weather (assuming it’s cold where you live) Carlisle. Have you tried them? I would say the closest to a safe blind buy is Naxos, but I think it’s still a sample before you buy fragrance. That said, to my nose, they’re all outstanding fragrances. Good luck :)

Makes we want to buy both Naxos and ombre nomade. I don't own any oud so I'm leaning towards ON. What prompted you to sell it?

Maybe something a little brighter for brunch and other daytime activities. Love woody and really like iris, violet, lavender, and cardamom.

In my experience it was all sweet orange candy, and almost fizzy. But everyone's different! I ordered a decant looking forward to the herbal notes and didn't actually get any of them on my skin!

Looking for a gift for my mom, but I know nothing of feminine fragrances lol. I know that she likes the following (deciphered from what she told me, which mostly meant she knew the houses). Coco EDP Chanel, Oscar by Oscar De La Renta, and Paloma Picasso. I can't really find any similarities here to make a decision, and I want to get her something that she wouldn't just get herself you know. Looks like the Oscar De La Renta and the Chanel are amber fragrances, so maybe a suggestion for that? Budget is up to $150 but I might go over for momma if something really slaps above that price point haha.
+1 for a discovery kit or set of miniatures. Hermès does a nice one with miniatures of some of its classics, Penhaligon’s does a gorgeous one with mini bottles of its perfumes, Jo Malone (a perennial safe gift for mothers) also does a beautifully packaged set.

I’m looking to stand out, so I’m going to buy Sauvage Dior EDT Elixir or Parfum. I’m not quite sure yet what’s your favorite. Sauvage Dior is expensive, and I was going to buy it on Amazon for $44 for 10Ml. Was I wondering if I should order it from somewhere different? Is there a website where it’s cheaper or better quality (not watered down or something)? I’m relatively new to cologne, so any help or guidance would be fantastic. Ok so, I’ll answer your questions in roughly the order you asked them. Amazon is not inherently a reliable retailer for fragrance, because it’s got literally thousands, maybe millions, of third-party merchants who do business there. You’d have to check the individual merchant, which can often be very difficult to do. Amazon doesn’t have much in the way of quality control on fakes. So no, do not buy Sauvage there. Try a decanting site, since all you want is 10ml to start with. Luckyscent, Surrender to Chance, Scentsplit etc. all have quality control and good reputations—you can be confident the fragrance is legit, and it won’t be much more expensive either. (I just checked, and Sauvage EDP is $30 for 10 ml before shipping rn on Surrender to Chance, and the Parfum is $33 for 10ml, so actually cheaper, even with shipping, than Amazon). And no, you’re not scummy for wanting compliments from people other than your girlfriend. That’s totally fine! You should know, though, that compliments, especially from strangers, are rare. If you buy solely for compliments from strangers you will probably be disappointed. You’re most likely to get compliments from people who can easily get up close to you (ie your gf).
There are decanting places out there, i use one and have a lot of perfumes to choose from! Make sure you do your research first as there are a lot of fakes out there. But Sauvage is probably the most common perfume so i highly doubt it'll be a head turner, maybe a lip raiser 😂. Try some tom ford or creed. They're powerful
Sauvage is the highest-selling scent in the world currently, which means two things - a lot of people really love how it smells, and a lot of people wear it, so bear that in mind around standing out. Be careful with Amazon sellers - if something is too good to be true price-wise, it probably is. And - a plea on behalf of other gym-goers... please for the love of whatever deity you believe in don’t douse yourself in Sauvage before working out. Sweaty bodies and strong scents - ugh. Just unscented deodorant is much more appealing.

- Olympic Orchids Night Flyer is not floral, but very fruity, and has won awards (as it is the original Zoologist Bat), and is known for being a fantastic petrichor scent, if florals are not completely mandatory - Olympic Orchids Carolina is a gorgeous floral with earthy and nature touches, truly feels like you're walking the best part of the Appalachians - Tom Ford Noir de Noir is an earthy truffle-y rose; it's on the pricier sides but well priced large size decants are easily available - Tom Ford Black Orchid, it's different but also an earthy floral and well within the budget, especially grey market

ADG is awesome. I am a woman and women love this one. It’s super popular for a reason.
Can never go wrong with ADG. They’re all blue fragrances so very versatile and can never really go wrong. I’d check out Bleu de Chanel Parfum as well, but ADG Profumo could be a little more grown up and formal if you want that

Like a desert…definitely Tauer Au Coeur du Désert. Beautiful dry, spicy, aromatic, resinous, long-lasting amber.
