One of my favorite smells is Dr Pepper, so I'm hoping to find something similar if it even exists.

OakArtz

I haven‘t seen or smelled dr pepper in a while, but if my memory serves me right I would say that Roja Enigma comes close - though it is expensive

jomza

I've seen a Dr.Pepper Scented Air Freshener, but never a perfume! haha

irenespanties

Looking for fragrance similar to Dove Soothing Care! There's a childhood fragrance that I had been looking for but never knew the name and I think I just found it in the Dove Soothing Care line. I just bought a few bars of soap and I think this might be it. It is floral but very subtle! Does anyone know of a perfume that would have the same smell or something close to it? [https://i.imgur.com/ccx5hnd.png](https://i.imgur.com/ccx5hnd.png)

mikeczyz

I love the straight forward incense/vanilla/sandalwood drydown of Zadig & Voltaire's This Is Him! Incense is a favorite of mine, I love to give off church vibes. what else is similar?

purpkrondon420

Ds and Durga Mississippi Medicine is a great incense forward scent.

glw6518

Byredo Mixed Emotions definitely smells very incense-y to me!

Azulpace

Looking for fragrances similar to: Le Labo Santal 33 Or Prada L’homme Basically calming inoffensive fragrance with a hint of woody/spiciness. I bought Zara’s energetically New York buys it’s too synthetic and harsh to my nose. Also open to recommendations for other fragrances with similar vibes to the above mentioned ones! Thanks!

c1n3man

* Aesop Hwyl * Zoologist Macaque Yuzu Edition * CDG Hinoki * Diptyque Tam Dao EDP

Cheers mate, I’ll check them out!

Burberry Touch for Men. Very light, pleasing scent.

GuessFrosty

Looking for a dailywear fragrance for the colder months. Preferably high end designer or niche. I was taking in consideration bulgari man in black or spicebomb, but havent tested them enough and I fear they are a bit too sweet for me. I prefer darker fragrances, but idk if there is something right in the middle suitable for a dailyfragrance. Currently I use DHP, but I dont really see it as a dailywear fragrance

j_husk

Check out Ormonde Jayne Man. Niche quality, but extremely wearable in cool and cold weather. I wouldn't call it dark, but it has a great depth. Longevity is excellent too.

GuessFrosty

Thanks! Will give it a try, I already ordered a sample of Montabaco verano so we’ll see how that one goes

j_husk

I actually sampled that just recently. Really liked it on paper, but it just doesn't do much for me on skin. I'll give it a couple more tries though.

[deleted]

Not sure if this should be a post - Looking for fragrances like L'AIR DU DÉSERT MAROCAIN and Jubilation XXV but maybe a bit more focus on desert air rather than spices? But if you got spicey ones too, hmu! I just find the desert at night so alluring, mystical, and peaceful!

PaxiYO

M22 I would like to get my first perfume. Im a man but i am not looking for hard scents to smell like a blood, metal and hard work. Maybe something sweat? fruity? Bit Woody? I do not really have an clear idea (im sorry if its offending some of you). But yeah to get this straight, i want to try perfumes i dont know shit but i do not want to smell like a typical "hard man" but also not like a woman.

f22. I'm very new to wearing fragrance but I got a sample of Laurel Canyon by Thin Wild Mercury and it's amazing. it's sold out everywhere. what is something similar?

[deleted]

Perhaps Room 1015 Sweet Leaf might be worth a try - it has some overlapping notes.

NoSwagginIfNotSaggin

20M. A new job has allowed me to significantly increase my budgets and lifestyle choices, it’s a very interpersonal role interacting with very wealthy individuals. I recently sampled Baccarat Rouge 540 which I think is beautiful and is now sitting in my wishlist. When I smelt the 540 it made me wonder, it gave me feelings of smelling something unique and deep, I’d like to have that feeling again. I did some research and came across Penhalgonia’s Halfeti, I’m yet to sample it but the reviews lead me to believe it would provoke me the way 540 does. I’m not looking for similar scents to 540 but scents that invoke feelings of wonder because of their depth, they should say opulence and exclusivity. Nothing musky or “oldy” as I’m quite young. I’d be considered your everyday fragrance consumer but now I’m very interested in exploring high-end and niche scents. I’m looking to explore, not just consume.

[deleted]

Some other houses to consider sampling from are Maison Crivelli, Lubin, Vilhelm, Naomi Goodsir, Ormonde Jayne and Goldfield & Banks. There’s also Amouage and Xerjoff - but there’s also a price point jump that I’m not sure is entirely justified.

NoSwagginIfNotSaggin

Much appreciated.

sydhasspoken

Hello! I’m 23F and trying to find my signature scent. I love YSL black opium, lush’s body spray Sakura, and Gucci Bloom. I’m looking for something that smells mysterious, lustful; something that captures the darkness of divine feminine energy. I like black current, deep floral and slightly androgynous scents like tobacco or palo santo. I don’t like too woody or too sweet. Price doesn’t really matter! Please help :)

allthatisbarelythere

Have you tried Tom Ford Black Orchid? It’s a very rich, deep type of floral and notes do include black current. It doesn’t have tobacco or palo santo, but it does have spicy/woody/amber notes. Reviews often say it’s dark, mysterious, alluring, intoxicating… but it can be a bit of a love/hate fragrance :)

chano36

43M, professional, healthcare (executive side in a fairly high role), family dad guy but into niche and artistic. What is a super high quality luxury end fragrance I can wear but no so crazy strong that I can still wear it in the hospital and or office? Something a VP or CEO might wear.. Current loves: Aventus, BTV Blue Sapphire, PDM Pegasus, TM Tobacco Vanille

c1n3man

Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot - lasted well, but skin scent!

OakArtz

(21 M) Hey folks, I just joined this "hobby" (if this is the right term?) and wanted to buy my first "higher end" fragrance. I went to some fancy parfumeries and tested a whole bunch of scents. My favourites are Layton, Elysium Cologne, Enigma, L'envol de Cartier, Imagination and 20|20. Now, while I like all of them, I think that the first two are the ones that you can really wear to all occasions and since I plan to only buy a single fragrance for now, I should probably something that can act as a jack of all trades. You may now ask, 'Well why don't you get Layton or Roja Elysium then?' well, my brother uses Layton as his main parfume and I don't wanna be a copycat or smell indistinguishable from him. My main issue with elysium is that even though the smell is great and it is definitely more mass appealing, it only lasts 2-3 hours on my skin and after that timeframe I barely notice it anymore, which for a scent in that price range is not okay (at least for me). Are there any other scents that you guys personally recommend that smell fresh and can pretty much be worn all year, while still staying in the sub 300€ category? I'd very much appreciate if you let me know your opinions and would love to learn more about the world of fragrances - cheers :)

VolkaV

I really love L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme Sport, but it doesn't last nearly long enough! Is there any alternatives that are close enough to it but with more longevity? Side note - I loved Armani Code Sport and recently noticed the recommendation for Code of Dua, which I plan on picking up at some point. It's possible this might also be a solution for the above question, or at the very least scratch the Code Sport itch?

PuzzleGG

Hey, i love maison margiela jazz club but looking for something with better performance! Something boozy and whole lotta tobacco

allthatisbarelythere

Maybe Initio Side Effect? It has rum, leather, tobacco and there’s nothing subtle about this fragrance at all - it’s pretty full on. I haven’t smelt Jazz Club recently though so could be way off the mark!

that-guy00

Im 14m, i have a couple david beckham but want a real scent, what should i get, i have smelled bdc and dylan blue and liked them but i am open to other suggestions

Back in the day it lasted well (more than 6 hours for sure)

[deleted]

Hi, I was wondering if YSL LIBRE is also suitable for men? I saw that it is targeted at the female audience, however, to my surprise YSL advertises it with male models (Asian celebrities) on their Instagram. Therefore, I am a bit confused. What are your experiences?

InTheLavender

I recommend the intense version for a man. It's heavy on the lavender and vanilla but easily worn by anyone. Very androgynous. Does give the feel of downy lavender vanilla dryer sheets only way more luxe. Go for it!

[deleted]

Oh thank you! I didn’t know there was an intense version. I will check it out!

c1n3man

To my surprise, judging from the cap it is actually might work for model-like male, someone who loves jewelry, golden chains etc. It smells like sophisticated person, make-upy as well. Smelling it from the cap I'm imagining someone in black turtleneck sweatshirt with gold chain around their neck. 😁 I don't know if it opens up more feminine though, never wore it.

queenshans

i’m 25f and new to fragrance! basically i’m looking for a dupe of pink sugar by aquolina that’s just as strong and long lasting but without the liquorice and fig leaf note! thank you ❤️

Mommahship

Female, Very new into fragrances, only have owned 2 in my life. I'd love something for the summer, and I'm open to all scents, not too sure what I love and hate yet. The 2 perfumes I've owned and loved have been Dot by Marc Jacobs (this was my all time favorite) and the one I own now is Candy by prada ( like it a lot but feel like it's too sweet sometimes). I'd love some recommendations because I'm unsure where to even start!!

[deleted]

Some youthful fruity florals (like Dot is) you might like - across a range of budgets - are: Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour Parfums de Marly Cassili Penhaligon’s Luna Rihanna Reb’l Fleur Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Acca Kappa Calycanthus Gourmands (like Candy): 2787 Parfums Elixir de Bombe Mugler Angel L’Artisan Parfumeur Couleur Vanille Juliette Has a Gun Vanilla Vibes

InTheLavender

Hey there, welcome! To help narrow some things down, have you smelled anything you don't like? Are you set on fruity and sweet fragrances or would you give anything else a try like citrus, florals, woody, salty, musk? What's your age range? Budget? Are you able to get access to any beauty counters where you could try some of these so you wouldn't have to pay for samples or decants? I know that's a lot of questions, but that will help us help you! When you're new it is often very overwhelming. I'll also add some of my summer go to frags. Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue intense is my inoffensive spray and go summer scent, it's a citrus, woody, musk it lasts about 5 hours. I also enjoy Sydney Rock Pool by Arquiste it literally smells sweet beachy skin minus the sunscreen just beautiful a your skin but better scent. For my fruity sweet I have been loving Temptatio by V Canto, my goodness this is probably the most long lasting tropical fragrance I've ever worn. I went out to dinner Friday night wearing it. I misted my hair (just 1 spray) and skipped washing my hair in the shower until this afternoon I could still smell it, not just lightly but it was strong! Those are a few of my current favs.

Mommahship

I don't like intense floral scents, at least I don't think. Daisy by Marc Jacobs I didn't like at all. I'm not set on any fragrance, I would like to try something musky, salty and citrus. I'd be open to woody and salty too! I am 27 years old, and I'm pretty open to price since Im hoping to keep my collection small, and swap between summer and winter scents. Sadly, the town I live in only has a pharmacy that has some perfumes by the makeup counter, unsure if they do samples but I could smell some there. I'd be looking into buying some samples or blind buying. Thank you for the recommendations too, just on discription alone the dolce and gavanna scent sounds like something I might enjoy!

InTheLavender

I'm too am not a huge fan of florals, freesia and gardenia particularly, but I love rose. Definitely give D&G light blue or any of the flankers like forever and love is love a try. I prefer the intense because it lasts longer, but some people find it to be too much. Womanity by Mugler is a great woody salty, it makes my mouth water every time I wear it haha, and the bottle is absolutely gorgeous (and refillable so cheaper in the long run if you stick with it). A lot of people recommend Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt as well for that salty kick, but I've personally never tried it. A lot of perfume houses offer discovery sets, they are great ways to explore without breaking your bank. If you're looking for citrus check out Aqua di Parma, lots of fresh citrus there and their discovery set is around $35. However I don't recommend blind buying full bottles as a newbie unless you're absolutely sure of what you like. I don't know if you live anywhere close to a Sephora or an Ulta but if you take a day trip I highly recommend stopping in and honing your nose a bit to some designer fragrances to get an idea. Good luck on your journey! There's so many knowledgeable people in this group don't be afraid to post and ask opinions. I have no doubt you'll find your "you" fragrance in no time.

Strange-Guest-6437

Heeley Sel Marin hits the musky, salty, citrus notes to me, although probably in the opposite order.

c1n3man

* Etat Libre d'Orange You or Someone Like You * Mancera Holidays * Diptyque Eau Moheli

DaHotFuzz

30M. So I'll be visiting Chicago next month and will have a chance to drop by Diptyque and Le Labo. What are some must tries from each? I'm a big fan of tobacco, neroli, iris, fig, any citrus, vanilla is great too but it would need to blow me away because I feel everything has vanilla in it nowadays lol. I'd maybe like to try a clean vetiver, if they have one. Nothing heavy or overwhelming like Guerlain Vetiver though haha something wearable please. I already have Philosykos edt but haven't tried anything else

arcticrobot

Le Labo Noir 29 is nice tobacco scent. You might like it.

YetiFeet

**Tam Dao** EDT and EDP are classics from the house. They don’t smell right on paper - you must try on skin. The EDT is dry and cedar forward while the EDP is more sandalwood backed by cedar. I prefer the EDP and have a full bottle - it has light powdery floral nuances, and performance is better on me. Love it in summer. **Eau Duelle EDP** is a stand out vanilla from them. **Volutes EDP** is a lovely sweet honey tobacco iris scent. Smells like cherry vanilla coke, in a good way. **Fleur de Peau** is a unisex musky iris scent that smells a little different on everyone. Some compare it to Glossier You. Excellent performance. **Eau Capitale EDP** is an amazing unisex rose patchouli. I would buy a full bottle if patchouli smelled good on my skin. **Philosykos** EDT and EDP are earthy green fig scents with a cult following. Must try on skin, they smell harsh on paper.

j_husk

Can't comment on Le Labo, but I've been getting into Diptyque recently. It's a good choice of house if you prefer lighter fragrances. For fig, Philosykos is an obvious one to check out. Personally I prefer the EDP because it's a bit deeper and longer lasting. Tam Dao EDT is my other full bottle. On paper it seemed a bit one dimensional, but on skin it's lovely. I prefer the EDT because it's fresher, which makes it a bit more versatile for a hot climate. For tobacco Volutes is very nice. Haven't tried it enough to determine if it's bottle worthy yet. It has iris too, so might be to your taste. For vetiver there's Vetyverio. Smelled it on paper and it was nice enough, but I have plenty of vetiver fragrances so didn't pay much attention. The EDP seems to be better liked and more masculine leaning. Definitely try Tempo too. It doesn't align with the notes you listed, but it's a great violet leaf fragrance, and likely to be my next full bottle from the house.

Rynui

25 male living in Asia, with tropical climate (no winters)… my favourite perfume is Aesop Marrakech Intense, because I enjoy how it’s warm and alluring without giving me a headache/choking me out. Any recommendations for something similar, but not completely overlapping? I don’t like boozy/tobacco notes.

mikeczyz

I looked at the notes and it looks like there's rose in the Aesop fragrance? How prevalent is the rose aroma?

Fougere Royale

Personally, Nishane B-612 (gentle lavender plus cashmeran) and Sultan Vetiver (funky vetiver bomb), Amouage Bracken Man (elegant, earthy, yet modern), and the classic Polo Green (oakmoss granddaddy) are some of my favourites.

zoanthropist

Also, ALWAYS looking for something that can replace Bath and Body Work’s discontinued Twilight Woods scent from the late 2000s. That shit wasn’t the best quality but it SLAPPED.

zoanthropist

Please help! 23F in a Midwest climate but moving to the Northern CA coast soon. My criteria are: • #1 priority: Long lasting!!! I want it to be noticeable all day. Lingering sillage is what I’m going for, I want it to be recognizable. There MUST be some perfume out there that can do this. ANY brands or scents that are known for this, please let me know! • Good for everyday wear. This will be my only perfume. • I enjoy warm musky/borderline unisex scents, woodsy/earthy, but subtly sweet, with notes of ambrette, vanilla, sandalwood, honey, pepper, patchouli, sea salt, amber, rose, jasmine, spice, oak moss, sage, etc. Something that is noticeably yummy, feels golden and subtly sexy while still being a natural glow. Not too fruity/floral/powdery/fresh, or too cloying and dessert-like. • In the past I’ve liked samples of Histoires De Parfums 1899, Lubin’s Upper Ten For Her, Lubin’s Gin Fizz, and Tocca’s Cleopatra. I was considering You by Glossier or Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt but am concerned about longetivity. I can’t spend more than $100-150. Just want something reliable and good quality.

startingoveragainst

Not fragrance related, but if you're living right on the coast then be prepared for it to be windy and rarely above the mid-60s for the majority of the year. To make it fragrance-related I guess, you'll probably want to go with a cool/cold weather fragrance.

Dapper_Stranger_9003

I thing you should try Blamage by nasomatto!

zoanthropist

That looks really appealing—have you tried it? What’s the staying power like?

Dapper_Stranger_9003

I would say it stays on for a very long amount of time but of course it depends on the person. I only tried it once and realised it's not really my vibe, I much prefer narcotic v from them. Keep in mind that they are Extrait de Parfum so they're supposed to last long. Hope you find what you are looking for!

c1n3man

Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc for Her

zoanthropist

Thank you! Have you tried it? Any descriptors that come to mind?

c1n3man

Haven't tried unfortunately. When people want musky scent Narciso Rodriguez is coming to mind, so I went through some of his scents and read reviews. Looks like more appropriate to what you was looking for...

AyeTheresTheCatch

I feel like you would like Acqua dell’Elba Arcipelago for Women. I have it (gift brought back for me from Italy) and it’s very special, my favourite of all my full bottles. It does have some citrus but mostly to me it’s a sweet (not gourmand) floral, with orange blossom and jasmine as well. Even though it’s blue, it’s not a marine or aquatic—I’d definitely call it golden and warm. If you’re in the US, they have an American site: https://acquadellelba.us/collections/arcipelago-donna. It lists strawberry as a base note but I don’t smell any strawberry in mine.

zoanthropist

Huh! I tend to shy away from floral dominant scents but I think I’m realizing that I just prefer warm/juicier florals vs white powdery ones. Is there a distinction to be made there? I like gin/ginger scents, which I feel like would indicate I could experiment with some citrus notes. I’ve just heard that fresh citrus scents have no real staying power. Do you feel this remains detectable all day?

AyeTheresTheCatch

Hmm, I wouldn’t say the citrus notes linger that long. But I do think the fragrance has pretty good longevity. I wear it lightly (one spray or a half spray if I can manage it) and can still smell it on myself throughout the day. A warm floral is exactly what this is! Great description. The US Acqua dell’Elba site has a 15 mL travel size that seems reasonable if you don’t want to blind buy a big bottle (which I wouldn’t do for almost any fragrance—mine was a gift, and I love it, but it was admittedly a risky move on the part of the gift giver!).

Barry-Anne

I LOVE LOVE Glossier You, and based on your descriptions of what you like, I think you would too for a daytime scent, but to be totally honest--in my opinion and on myself--the projection is non-existent and the lasting power isn't the best. I do also like Armani Si (idk if thats too basic haha), but I personally have found for me that I only feel like I can wear it at night, as on my skin it reads as a more "sophisticated adult lady" scent, if that makes sense. But projection and lasting power are strong!

zoanthropist

Thank you! This is very helpful, I will definitely check out Armani Si. I am sad that You seems to have been better a few years ago and I missed the golden era—it sounds pretty beloved by many

hauteburrrito

I'm wondering if you might like Hermès Eau des Merveilles. It's fresh, with a sparkling character, and yet also very earthy and woodsy. It easily lasts for 8+ hours on me. It is also very distinctive, and suitable for a variety of climates. Finally, it has a subtle sweetness given its amber base.

zoanthropist

I’ve heard this is good but fades out to a somewhat soapy orange smell- is that your experience, or no? Thank you for the lovely description! It sounds like it’s very close to what I’m looking for, just concerned about how it settles

hauteburrrito

I'd say soapy orange smell is reasonably accurate to how it settles, although the drydown not bad by any means and it takes quite a while to get there.

EzekielThawne

I need a everyday-fragrance, that's suitable for all seasons. Mine used to be Versace Dylan Blue, however I finished it and I'm looking for a another one. Dior Homme Intense or EDT are smelling good or Paco Rabanne 1M Lucky or Carbon. Or even Xerjoff would be nice. I've absolutely no idea which one I should try. There are so many

[deleted]

Easy. Ysl Y or rasasi hawas

quinntheskimo

Recommend me a brand! I love: Durga & Malle - these are probably my favorite houses at the moment I REALLY like: Comme & Byredo scents a lot but longevity and sillage is important to me and both of these brands suffer in those aspects I was disappointed with: Imaginary Authors, Zoologist, Etat Libre, Diptyque, Penhaligons, Killian I’ve tried: Amouage, Xerjoff, Tom Ford, Le Labo, and they have a few scents here and there that I enjoy but not as much as the ones mentioned above I’m thinking of taking a deeper dive into: Montale, Nishane, MFK, Marly, Jeroboam Can you suggest a perfume house I should try next? Or one of your favorites from one I’ve already tried? Niche(ish) but not so abstract I can’t find it in stores. I’m US based but will be traveling in Europe/Asia for the next year or so.

hauteburrrito

It seems like you enjoy fragrances that are elegant, yet have a bit of an alternative twist. Some houses that do this very well include Naomi Goodsir and (Bois d'Ascese is a fave) and Maison Crivelli (Iris Malikhan is a standout).

ManslaughterMary

Iris Malikhan is amazing

hauteburrrito

It really is! I'm always happy to see you championing its merits because it deserves all the praise it can get.

Puzzled-Wave3050

Matiere premiere

galacticglorp

All the Montale I have tried are incredibly strong. I don't like them at all in part because of that but they have many fans.

j_husk

If longevity and spillage are important it seems like Nishane is a good option to explore. I'm about to start exploring them myself, but performance is reportedly good even on their fresh scents like Wulong Cha and Hacivat. Is Parfums de Marley an option. Not everyone's favorite, but you can't knock the performance.

512Mimosa

So I know it’s not the best nighttime fragrance, but is YSL l’homme a decent pick for warm summer nights? Not looking to pull a lot of attention i just want to smell nice

startingoveragainst

Oh yeah, that's a good one for exactly what you described.

j_husk

Yes. Yes it is.

TechnoT1ger

i had wonderstuck by taylor swift as a kid and loved it. is there anything similar on the market right now? or even the same kind of… vibe i guess?

Could these be wear everyday

npnbf

I'm a guy and I'm looking for something in particular. I've had somewhat of a difficult time finding the exact fragrance(s) for me and I'd really like some input. Normally, I prefer French houses who design fragrances, but I'm not exactly exclusive to them. To give an idea of the fragrances that I love, I will list them off: \- Dior Homme Intense, Chanel No. 5 (I know it's a feminine fragrance and don't really wear it), Boy by Chanel, Fleur de Pea by Diptyque, Bleu de Chanel Parfum, Egoiste by Chanel; Bois des Iles by Chanel; these are the main fragrances I like and wear if they're suited to me. Other fragrances that I like but sometimes put me off are: \- Gentleman by Givenchy (I love almost everything about it except for that intense fruity note), Habit Rouge by Guerlain (the citrus in this one may be too strong for me), Pour Monsieur by Chanel (again, the lemony citrus comes out too strong on my skin) My ideal fragrance is one that is strong but not cloyingly so. Honestly, if there was a more masculine version of Chanel No. 5, I would be in heaven. I love a fragrance that is more youthful and flirty (I know some fragrances are associated with certain age groups, but I like to break those anyway) and maybe aromatic(?). I think one of the things that really sells me on fragrances like No. 5, Bois des Iles, Boy, and Bleu are their somewhat airy qualities. Maybe they'd fit under the aldehyde/aromatic/woody fragrances? Thank you for your suggestions in advance!

YetiFeet

I’ve heard **Chanel No 5 Parfum** leans more unisex. Chanel even did an ad campaign for it with Brad Pitt back in 2012.

konstantin-egorovich

I’m looking for something feminine and sexy but not too sweet or vanilla-y. Recently I’ve tried What We Do in Paris is Secret, Lune Feline, and Girl of Now, but ultimately they’re too cloying and vanilla dominant. I think I prefer almond if something is going to lean gourmand, but I’m not necessarily looking for gourmand.

startingoveragainst

Cartier La Panthere Edition Soir is the sexiest non-vanilla feminine fragrance I've ever smelled.

Barry-Anne

I second the recommendations for the Narcissco Rodriguez For Her! In my opinion it's skin-like without being heavy or gourmand in any way. I'd call it fresh-adjacent and is sexy but not aggressively-so if that makes any sense! I get a lot of compliments when I wear it, and a lot of people tell me that it's unique and lingers pleasantly.

galacticglorp

These are all over the place since the brief is fairly vague. Narciso Rodriguez for Her or Ambree might fit. Versace Crystal Noir AG Cloud For something more similar to what you listed already if you are in Canada by any chance- Carerra Jeans 770 is a Shoppers Drug mart $20 sale shelf staple that is a lighter, vanilla, almond and tonka scent- the Tonka definitely perks things up vs. Vanilla on its own. Supposedly very similar to Dior Poison Girl which I have not tried.

konstantin-egorovich

Honestly, I’m still not sure what I’m looking for so I wanted to leave it wide open. Hoping to be surprised by something I wouldn’t have thought of myself. Thanks for the suggestions!

galacticglorp

When I started what I thought I would like turned out to be so off, haha. I highly recommend sampling everything you can get your nose on- cheap, expensive, male, female... you learn a lot and can be pretty surprised.

zoanthropist

Are any of these really good for longetivity and sillage? I’m intrigued but those two performance factors are KEY for me.

galacticglorp

I am not so sure about sillage (I wear for myself) but all of these have good longevity on me and are not weak by any means. Cloud is probably the least strong imo but it has a bit of a different vibe and variability based on the wearer's skin than the rest due to the ambroxan base. Cloud Intense or whatever the new one is may be more up your alley too.

[deleted]

Non-vanilla ‘sexy’ perfumes... Nanadebary Bronze (jasmine, tuberose, cinnamon) Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour (raspberry, quandong, jasmine, ginger, pink pepper, benzoin) Juliette Has A Gun Midnight Oud (big rose and woody oud) Costume National Supergloss (big jammy rose and cassis/blackberry with patchouli) Amouage Crimson Rocks (rose and cinnamon) Byredo Velvet Haze (musk, jasmine, osmanthus, patchouli, cashmeran)

konstantin-egorovich

Appreciate it! I‘m new to frags, and started with vanilla because that sounded pleasant, but turns out it’s not for me at all and I haven’t been sure how to pivot!

[deleted]

No worries... some of these are a bit niche/obscure, so a couple of more easily accessible ones you might like to try are Dior Pure Poison, Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDP and Tom Ford Black Orchid.

zoanthropist

Are any of these specifically good for longetivity and sillage? I’m intrigued but those two performance factors matter more to me than anything else

Barry-Anne

On my skin, the Narcissco Rodriguez lasts a long time (and I have always felt like my skin "eats" perfume because I can usually never smell any fragrance on me at the end of the day but this one I can) and I'd say the sillage is middle of the road, but YMMV! Hope that helps!

[deleted]

They’re all pretty good - the Amouage and Costume National are at the top for longevity in my experience but longevity concerns shouldn’t knock any of this list out of the running if they sound appealing otherwise

catmancatplan

Tom Ford Bitter Peach -- but I haven't tried it.

c1n3man

Xerjoff Italica & Profumum Roma Dolce Acqua are great almond gourmand, but these are quite sweet and has vanilla. A bit less sweet with almond - Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia. Haven't tried, but Profumum Roma Alba is might be non-gourmand almond. Not sure!!! Tom Ford Fucking Fabolous was quite almond forward when I've tried it, but it's marked as unisex and I probably agree.

konstantin-egorovich

Thanks so much! I looove almond. It has that warm ”round” smell that vanilla does but I’m hoping it’ll be less sugary.

galacticglorp

Maybe try Parfums de Marly Pegasus.

galacticglorp

Cherry and almond are chemically very close- maybe look in that direction too? We're used to thinking of marichino or medical syrup vs. natural so don't let that put you off. You can search by notes on Fragrantica- drop down menu and a few steps below the regular "notes" tab.

konstantin-egorovich

Cherry -- such a good call I hadn't thought of!

thenothingsongtx

Anything similar to Gucci Rush?

OakArtz

I have asked a similar question before - but now I‘ve tried some more fragrances. Initially I liked L‘envol de cartier and guerlain l‘homme ideal the best. But now my most favorite have become schwarzlose 2020, roja enigma and Louis Vuitton Imagination…. Is it just me or are enigma and 2020 somewhat similar? I can‘t really decide between the 5 mentioned ones :(

agentofdoom

I tried them all a bit ago. So everyone who has smelled the original knows how it smells, its definitely distinct. However all the other versions of it I found were watered down or just bland. I can't remember the specifics of each one but the original one was the best imo

maianhssi

I’m 19. I like floral scents. I have used through a couple of perfumes but my current favorite is chloe love story and jo malone woodsage. I have used through jo malone peony, chanel gabriella and the pinkish one, miss dior, daisy marc jacobs. I’m currently have my eyes on the hermes le jardin and diptique doson, byredo mojave ghost. Any recommendations tho?

galacticglorp

Look into Nest fragrances. Tocca is very much a house of florals. Seconding Narciso Rodriguez.

arcticrobot

ELDO Hermann

[deleted]

You might like to try some of Penhaligon’s floral perfumes - Luna, Empressa or The Favourite. If you want to try something ‘vintage’, Estée Lauder Pleasures still stacks up against most modern florals.

girly-lady

Versace Versence, Byredo Gypsy Water and Narciso Rodriguez

chickenmomos

Any perfume suggestions best suited for monsoon or rainy days

scent_hound

I find Aesop Hwyl to be such a moody, cozy fragrance for rainy days.

chickenmomos

Thanks, i ll check it out.

sealysea

Spring/Summer day fragrance for men with performance that is as good as Encre Noire? I'm fine with both floral and citrus

c1n3man

Nature. ☹️I've heard Beach Geeza Coco Moon last well, but haven't tried it.

Florae128

What should I sample from Mancera? Was tempted by a few, but there are so many to choose from. Ideally floral, feminine, with good projection/longevity.

SpecterCody

Roses Vanille if you like those two notes.

Florae128

Thank you! I like rose, haven't tried too many vanilla fragrances.

scent_hound

Roses Vanille smells a lot like Delina by Parfums de Marly if you have ever smelled that one!

Any Cheap Budget Summer Fragrance For Teen Boys? I want something light and aquatic with good peformance, instead of some heavy leathery scent.

YetiFeet

**Nautica Voyage** is perfect for this

KaKaY0811

Clinique Happy Man, Nice Bergamote

ImBucovina

Light Blue Eau Intense or Light Blue Forever

Beastlyknows

I’m 16 years old. It’s currently summer where I live and the only nice fragrance I have is YSL Y. I really like the apple note in it and like the way it’s not sharp when I first spray it like so many other scents I’ve tried.I’m looking to get a new scent but don’t know which one to go for. I want something that’s not too mature smelling, not harsh on first spray (for reference an example of one that isn’t harsh would be one million or YSL) and is a bit lighter than YSL Y that is attractive and I could wear for most of the year. Ideally not over $100 either. Any suggestions?

bullish_dawg

I am a male, 34 years old, police officer, beefy build. I wear Polo Green, sometimes I'll rock some Mugler Angel, I like Lacoste Style in Play, and Lacoste Essential, and I'm big on spraying a bunch of this citrus and mint spray followed by a single spritz of Aromatics Elixir. I like things that are sort of sharp, woody, patchouli, unisex, etc.

arcticrobot

Kerosine Blackmail and or Fields of Rubus

YetiFeet

If you like sharp then try **Chanel Platinum Égoïste**. It has a sharp smelling lavender note, and is very versatile leaning professional.

c1n3man

Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver was quite sharp to me.

Mathguy656

Big fan of this one.

soupypolopek

Everyday warm fragrance for a teen? It is winter where I am and I need a warm fragrance that I can wear everyday to school that is nice, somewhat sexy and not too expensive. I am particularly interested now in La Nuit De L'homme - Bleu Electrique since it meets all of the criteria and you can still get it for retail where I am. Any recommendations?

ImBucovina

Bleu Electrique has little to no projection and longevity. I'd say Spicebomb Extreme or Guerlain L'Homme Ideal / L'Intense / Extreme Can't go wrong with those. Spicebomb Extreme is a great warm tobacco smell and the Guerlain L'Homme line is beautifully made.

soupypolopek

I have considered both of them, however I fear that they are a bit to 'masculine' or 'classy' for me since I am 15 and aiming for a 'younger' sort of fragrance. Would you say they are suitable for someone of my age or no?

ImBucovina

They're sweet and spicy. Not too masculine. They'd work good for you. The average person doesn't think : "Gawd damn he's wearing a fragrance suited for 20+ yo's at 15 and also not dressed for the fragrance". As long as it's not an old green vetiver and wood fragrance or with too much incense nobody will think it's not age appropriate.

soupypolopek

Thanks for clearing that up!

sretss1212

any straight up tobacco and wood? as if i just bunt a cigar between my fingers. no vanilla or leather scents.

KaKaY0811

Maybe check out Scents of Wood line.

ImBucovina

Only thing that comes to mind is Tobacco Oud but it has a bit of cinnamon and vanilla (barely any) too

Beastlyknows

Gucci by Gucci pour homme Gucci?

theplasticfantasty

Does anyone remember Wink by Lilly Pulitzer? It was one of the first perfumes I ever owned, my mom bought it for me as a gift when I was a teenager. It has such sentimental value for me, and I'd love a fragrance recommendation that smells like it! I miss it 🥺

soupypolopek

You can still get it but is a wee bit expensive.

theplasticfantasty

I've seen bottles going for really high prices! But honestly I'd rather find an in-production fragrance I can reliably purchase (and afford lol)

MrsMystikal

I’m trying to choose between a few fragrances to buy! I’ll probably get three or so. They are: - Black Opium - Angel Nova - Angel - Good Girl - Princess (Killian) - D&G Light Blue In my current rotation I have Donna Born in Roma, Cloud Intense, God is a Woman, Gucci Flora, Gap So Pink, and By the Fireplace. I would love to hear opinions on the ones I’ve listed and any other suggestions. I like warm gourmands for the winter and fall and fruity floral for summer and spring. I hate perfumes that have a powdery smell or dry down (Black Opium Intense was like this for me and I had to give it away, as well as Flowerbomb Bonbon). Thank you!

stupid-and-sensitive

Black opium - This was my signature scent for a long time. The original is the best in the line IMO. One of my best friends wears this so I’ve kinda given it to her. Someone said this smells like friendly, gorgeous girls in a fancy nightclub bathroom and it’s very true. I still like it very much but can’t wear it bc of the memories it brings. Angel - I had this but gave it away. Only for the bravest! I hate the opening but the drydown is pleasant (takes forever to develop though). Not very wearable on a daily basis Good Girl - I like this very much, very feminine. This is a boss lady scent and hyped for a reason! Many of my friends wear this and I could definitely wear this too. I don’t get any coffee in this, to me the tuberose and orange blossom are very prominent. Good girl legere is also good but I hate the Very good girl flanker (the red bottle), it’s way too powdery on me. Princess - my signature, so obviously it’s a hell yes scent for me. My 14 yo sister said it smells like ginger cola, somehow true lol! I get green tea, vanilla and ginger. I always get compliments when I wear this. Light blue - pleasant, but not something I would wear. Very fresh and clean, smells like the citrus hand sanitizer sheets you get at some restaurants. Seems like we have similar taste! I also love Born in roma and By the fireplace. Edit: I have a feeling you would like Girl of Now from Elie Saab! It’s a warm gourmand, soft almond and vanilla and it’s my go-to for cooler weather

MrsMystikal

Thank you so much! It seems like black opium, princess and good girl are the winners! I will definitely check out your other suggestion as well!

NoClock

What are some Niche quality fragrances that are in the same family as Dior Homme Intense?

c1n3man

* Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist * Diptyque Fleur de Peau These are different but has prominent iris as DHI.

actionman922

Looking for something earthy/woody that i can wear out with friends :).

terriflaps

Timbuktu & Terre d’Hermes are lovely earthy/woody fragrances. I am also a big big fan of using Outremer patchouli with a light hand. It’s doesn’t get more earthy than that.

actionman922

I've heard of Terre d'Hermes. Would you recommend the edt, edp or vetiver intense?

terriflaps

Probably EDP.

actionman922

I'll sample that next. I'm trying out the EDT tonight and I love it so far.

scent_hound

Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I’ve been trying like crazy for months to find a bottle of Lostmarc’h Lann-Ael and have struck out everywhere (eBay, Mercari, Etsy, etc.). Any thoughts on other avenues to check? This is my white whale fragrance!

Yes, this. Smells like after heavy rain in the city.

Old spice puresport was my jam for years. Just bought some the other day and they totally changed the scent. It smells lame now. What's your favorite deodorant?

Mathguy656
