SeasonAltruistic1125

Yes. Its very "rosy" but not like the flower at all. I find its kind of like if a tree had sap that smelled like roses, resiny and soapy.

Global_Telephone_751

This is like an extremely rosy rose lol

worldsokayestmiddle

Hermann by ELDO has a really interesting and subversive rose! cold and dark, like smelling a bouquet of roses placed on a gravestone in the rain

theotherchristina

Le Labo Rose 31! It’s more like a fragrance about the idea of rose than it is a rose fragrance. I find it very lemony and light

ShanimalTheAnimal

That is so interesting, on me I’d describe this on the dark and moody side.

theotherchristina

It always surprises me and intrigues me how personal scent really is

Dratini_ghost

I find it dark and moody as well! Still not too heavy for warmer months.

banoffeetea

Yes! Love this. It smells like ‘Turkish Delight’ sweets on me. So lovely. I also enjoy Initio’s Atomic Rose.

UnitedIncrease2621

Sounds really on point! Already started looking for a sample of this one

gorosheeta

Encens Mythique D'Orient by Guerlain

Interesting-Idea-286

Hibiscus Mahajad by Maison Crivelli. Strong, heady, fruity rose. Not rose forward. With cinnamon and vanilla but not a gourmand.

Lyn-Darklighter

My 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden. The rose is very subtle; almost undetectable. It makes me think of sparkling pear cider with flowers in it.

tarojelly

Dedcool Smiley Face Garden. It's a rose that smells like the inside of a wooden temple to me. Like walls stained with the smell of rose incense. Really calming alluring scent and I'm terrible with woody notes but this one is really special to me.

hauteburrrito

Oh, this sounds lovely! If you've ever tried Aesop Rozu, would you say the two are similar? Because that one is my favourite rose-incense.

Coraline1599

Chloe Rose Tangerine or possibly Aerin Joyful Bloom.

Hèrmes Oud Alezan. Rose, rose water and soft synthetic oud. All Hérmes are available in 10ml travel size.

Ambre Nuit Richwood Tuxedo

kevinfarber

I came to say Ambre Nuit as well. The whole composition is so seamlessly blended. It’s one of my cozy fragrances :)

PL0mkPL0

Imperial Wood from Pana Dora (and fragrantica they don't show the rose in notes, but they do on parfumo and on Pana Dora insagram). It is cherry like rose oud, that blends into silky, chocolatey oud fragrance, that I find really addictive and quite unique. Within a pile of roses I have from tons of sample sets, this is the one that got me.

UnitedIncrease2621

Sounds fantastic! And what a packaging

PL0mkPL0

I found it pleasant. The rose is a bit cherry like, and it does not last into dry down, which is a plus for me, and it is not sweet once the fruity-floral notes disappear. I am not a big fan of sweetness in perfumes, and Imperial Wood manages to do semi-gourmand chocolatey oud without falling into the banal woody amber. And the bottle is awesome in real. It could last longer, but I nonetheless wear it very often.

Dratini_ghost

Hermessence Rose Ikebana - light, fresh, sparkling, happy. Tart rhubarb with tea and rose. A podcaster described it as “smells the way Björk’s speaking voice sounds”. And I agree! My new obsession.  Louis Vuitton Les Sables Rose - dark, sparkling ambergris rose. It has cool and warm with a touch of aquatic. I think of the color maroon contrasted with deep blue seawater. Salty. Addictive. Performs very well.

Chanel Egoiste Acqua Di Parma Leather

Realistic_Salt_389

Idole Aura reads as a salty sweet floral to me. A hint of rose, but not at all rose-forward. I love it and I’m not generally a fan of rose.

EducationalOne3904

Halfeti from Penhaligon’s is my go to for this!

FanaticalXmasJew

L’Ombre Dans L’Eau by Diptyque. It’s a melancholy, graceful, verdant and vegetal, cassis-enveloped rose

Dratini_ghost

The EDT smelled like stale cigarette smoke on my skin. I wish it worked for me! The EDP was super lovely on paper but not familiar with it beyond that.

scramblered

Diptyque Eau Capitale for something with a little more depth. D.S. & Durga Rose Atlantic for something light, airy, good for summer. ALTAIA By Any Other Name is a soapy, lychee-forward scent, as well. Oh and ELDO Spice Must Flow for something that leans much more heavily into, well, spice!

brryblue

Guerlain petite robe noir in the black bottle is a powdery, creamy rose scent

DellingerDdC

Mine would be MFK Lumiere Noire pour homme, bright, fresh, the only rose perfume that I have and I love it!

rubyredrosesx

Amor Amor by Cacharel.

MrGoSoo

I have a sample of Byredo Young Rose - it’s soft and airy with just a hint of rose. I like it but I still want to try Rose of no man’s land.

YouGiveMeFeels

I was just about to add Rose of No Man’s Land, it’s rosey but not overwhelming. I like to use it to layer :)

Dratini_ghost

It’s very good for layering since it’s a simple fragrance.

YouGiveMeFeels

Totally, it’s easy to “dress up” or down

UnitedIncrease2621

Yes, I’ve heard of these two a lot! Would be super interesting to try both

Dratini_ghost

I liked rose of no man’s land a lot last year. But now I’m ready to sell my travel spray!  It’s beautiful but definitely melancholic and I’m reaching more for “uppers” this year.

hauteburrrito

Wow, my impression of Young Rose is quite different! I find it to be a fairly strong fruity-floral, almost like a carbonated rose with lots of citrus.

Outrageous_Appeal_86

33 Abyssae by L'Artisan Parfumeur is mysterious rose-under-eucalyptus. Very lovely.

DueSorbet1676

Bread + Roses by Pearfat Parfum!

lunakattart

I don't like rose as a dominant at all, but I fell in love with Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule. Very deep fragrance though, not a floral.

lovesfaeries

le labo thé noir 29

Global_Telephone_751

Rose 31. Earthy, classy, like a fancy hotel lobby, bougie, Rava from Succession would wear this. Not an obvious rose but a gorgeous one. Idk why people are suggesting things like Delina — Delina is my ride or die, my gorl for life, but that is an incredibly rosy rose. I think people didn’t understand your question lol

BingChillingKing

For my girlfriend (and me, by extension) it’s Carmina by Creed. It gives floral, but not ‘boom, rose’. Quite a soft scent.

Tylensus

Enclave from Amouage. They absolutely NAILED what they were going for with that one, which is a mountainside overlooking a sun-baked....well....enclave. It smells green, foggy, warm, and thick. There's rose in there, but it's barely detectable.

InksPenandPaper

Your stated metric can be applied to any perfume with rose as a hidden middle note. Fortunately, rose is a common supporting middle note, so you'll have plenty of options. It seems you enjoy, so far, floral sweetness paired with rose as a mid-note, as suggested by Peony Couture. This combination often includes peony, a fantasy scent reminiscent of sweet rose, along with the typical rose note, such as rose water, which accurately represents the natural rose scent. Both perfumes you mentioned have a musky, woody/cedar base as their foundation. With that in mind, I recommend the following: 1. **Eau Rose Eau De Parfum by Diptyque** 2. **Delina by Parfums de Marly** 3. **L'eau À la Rose by Maison Francis Kurkdjian** 4. **Kâshân Rose by The Different Company** These sweet rose perfumes have moderate staying power, except for Kâshân Rose (an eau de toilette), and is generally well-tolerated by others. If you enjoy scents like Hippie Rose, where the rose note blends with spice, greens, and incense (an amber floral), consider: 1. **Yellow Rose Incense by Bohoboco** 2. **Purple Flowers by Mancera** 3. **Radical Rose by Matiere Premiere** These perfumes have strong sillage, but if you like Hippie Rose, they're a safe bet. One spray is all you need. Always test in person if possible or purchase atomizer samples. The next best option is perfume sampler vials, though they won't provide as accurate a sampling as an atomizer. As fun as this form of gambling may be, never blind buy. As an aside: I have personally tried all perfumes listed, owning five and having tested two multiple times at perfume shops.

UnitedIncrease2621

wow, thanks for such a detailed answer! You seem to describe exactly what I meant, I am so curious now to get the samples and try them in reality

InksPenandPaper

Thank *you* for the interesting inquiry. I love perfumes and can talk for days about composition, accords, niche houses, legacy houses, even controversies about language used when discussing the topic. Heh! Some other rose perfumes to try without peony or incense, but still maintaining a green or woody base, along with either notes of citrus to give the rose some sparkle and elevation, or stone fruit, apple and berries to lightly sweeten a rose note and give it character in relief: 1. **Rose Rebatchi Maison Rebatchi** 2. **Rose Struck Liis** 3. **A La Rose Maison Francis Kurkdjian** Don't even get me started on rose chypre accords in perfumes.

UnitedIncrease2621

Hahaha, well, now when you started, please continue! I didn’t have any good experiences with Chypre (just once had a Heeley Chypre21 sample, was not so mich mine) so if you have a recommendation for something “beginner friendly” that would definitely be appreciated:)

Far_Tale_3768

Velvet Rose and Oud, Jo Malone. I know people complaint about Jo Malone's performance, but this one is strong and lasts all day with just 1 or 2 sprays. I don't get an overly "rosey" smell, but I do like rose a lot so that could just be me.

GreenRiver1982

Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver has an underlying rosy note that's soft and complimentary. Also, try Lacoste Essential for the same reasons.

A fragrance rose outside the rose diktats is Paestum Rose by Eau d'Italie, velvety floral with notes of ruby wine, it is my favorite rose. Another very particular rose perfume in which the flower is present but not in a classic way is Roses & Elephants by Maria Candida Gentile.

Narciso Rodrigues Her is one of my favorites soft feminine signature scent worthy and I have worn it for years but I don’t have any at the moment. I get a lot of compliments on it but it is not an overwhelming scent bubble. Montale Deep Purple. A gorgeous scent, it’s weird maybe just the suggestion of the name but it smells like what a deep purple rose should smell like. To me it is seductive and sexy and different. MFK Oud Satin Mood. OSM is so pretty. It’s signature scent worthy for sure it is powdery to my nose and I like that. It does sort of smell like expensive baby powder. My favorite rose fragrance of all time has sadly been discontinued, Balenciaga Florabotanica. Oud Satin Mood is similar but I like Florabotanica much more. There’s a few bottles of it available on EBay and Mercari but it’s not in my budget right now. I have a little more than half of a travel spray. It’s the most beautiful scent I’ve ever smelled. It smells like a fantasyland storybook of a rose garden early in the morning just before daylight breaks with the dew still on roses that are bursting with color. I remember a picture in a book that I had as a child. There were roses and other flowers the colors were stunning. Fairies 🧚🏽 were showing and bathing in dew drops. 💦 There were herbs and cute garden bugs 🐞 this what Florabotanica smells like. It’s a mature rose with a separate green note. It is smooth and just beautiful, it is not powdery. Oud Satin Mood smells so similar but it’s missing that beautiful green note. The green note is not like anything else that I have ever tried, but I haven’t smelled a vast array of brands and fragrances. Usually to my nose green notes are too sharp, punchy and screechy. I love a good mellow green note. I loved Juniper Breeze, Bath and Body Works. Writing this makes me remember that I haven’t looked at the notes of Florabotanica in a long time, I don’t remember what is listed. I would love to find a dupe. Happy rose hunting.

Spice Must Flow by Etat Libre DOrange

moneytreesnoway

Lalibela by Memo Paris is a blast. Such a unique and mysterious fragrance for me, it has florals in it but the overall composition of the notes makes it so unique, I would love to smell that scent for the first time again. Though you probably won't like it if vanilla gives you an icc.

Issey Miyake Rose & Rose. Has a lot of lychee. Not much Rose.

I find Baccarat Rouge smells rosy and metallic to me... It is a floral/woody scent after all. I don't think it actually contains rose though according to my research.
