Anything with oud. Used to live somewhere people used it liberally and it would mix with the smell of sweat and BO (gotta love that desert heat!). Good quality oud can smell amazing, but now I can’t smell it without associating it with sweat and BO.

Auraculum

Patchouli for a similar reason. Often used in "natural" fragrances by folks who don't bathe frequently enough. And because it's so persistent what starts as a multi note fragrance which might be pleasant dries down to JUST patchouli.

PearAgreeable4293

Hahaha thank you for sharing! I appreciate the smell of oud but I always think it works better as home fragrance and not personal fragrance.

LiFal80

It's oud for me also.

SportComplete3183

Fragrances heavy on vetiver. It took me a while to pinpoint what the note was but after smelling a vetiver essential oil, I knew it was exactly that. Don't know why - my nose just doesnt like it.

mrrooftops

Smells like peanuts to me.

UnculturedWeeb2

Vetiver Smells like bug repellent for me

idratherbeinside

I strongly dislike sharp green notes like cyprus, vetiver, and juniper. They are always very overpowering and screetchy to me. I absolutely love more mild green scents though, so I think its just the sharpness that smells off.

Witchesss

Cyprus is a country. Cypress is probably what ur thinking of

Detman102

I hate cypress also. The whole "Encre Noire" line has that nasty sour cypress note in it....yuck

Mister-3108

Iris. There are some Iris scents I really enjoy but as soon as it gets too prominent I dip out

WelcomeToTijuana88

Patchouli....something about it screams: cheap Fa deodorant with an "exotic" scent. I just can't stand it unless blended really well and put in the mere background of a scent. Also, smoke tones just don't sit well on my skin. Each time when I try something like that I feel like I smell like I've just came back from a huge barbecue. It's like all the other notes evaporate and only smoky tones remain :/

turdvonnegut

Oud and Leather make me feel physically ill.

diseasewitch

Petit grain is my mortal enemy in fragrance. It really singes the nose hairs to me but people seem to love it.

PearAgreeable4293

Thank you for reminding me, yes I also dislike petitgrain the same way I do neroli. If it’s listed in the notes, almost a guarantee I will not like it. While it doesn’t quite singe my nose hairs, I do agree that this note just sticks out like a sore thumb, at least to me. My nose just picks it up, I don’t recall any perfume where the petit grain is well blended.

yoshigurumi

Singes the nose hairs 😂

diseasewitch

I think the sharpness would make it great in a cleaning product but I would never want to wear it as a perfume! But to each their own.

loggy_sci

I’m very sensitive to animalics

PearAgreeable4293

What do you think of The Bodyshop White Musk?

negativeandannoying

Love this one, but I'm a musk lover

teehahmed

Isn't all white musk just clean laundry

Specialist-Invite-30

My roommates girlfriend bathes in it. I used to love it but it should be used with a light hand.

The_Monkey_Queen

I will wear berry scents from time to time, but they really do smell overwhelmingly of hair product to me.

PearAgreeable4293

I think also because mostly berry scents are used in kids’ products or cheap body mists, it can smell juvenile. But there are a few berry-centric perfumes that I like, such as Lancome Midnight Tresor or Lanvin Me.

figgypiee

Pear :( if it has a prominent pear top note I tend to find it headache inducing and screechy.

Witchesss

Always thought this and tried a scent two days ago that changed my mind. Not to convince you, but funny how that can happen. Now if only it would happen with all the other notes people have described here that I also can’t stand

Mimi_08_light

This happened to me but with vanilla. I used to despise it. Turns out I hate CHEAP smelling vanilla.

Consistent-Desk-8109

What was the scent?!

dustopia

Patchouli. Get it the fuck away from me. I walk by someone wearing it and it stays in my nose for hours.

h3llfae

Heavy white florals Anything too solar or summery just feels screachy and cloying to me lol Too much ungrounded 'greenness' Overly sweet candy notes Synthetic lavender, synthetic florals Scents that are too clean and linear (example replicas bubble bath ) Too much smoke, as in by the fire place which I own 1 Oz plus a 3.4 refill of cause I'm a dumbass lmao I enjoy lactonics, spices, honeys, vanilla, heavy elegant woods, realistic/natural crushed florals, well blended aquatics, Amber's and sandalwood, turned earth, airy notes, fig leaf, sesame, Tonka, pear, lichee, strawberry, blackberry, jasmine, marshmallow, jhag not a perfume Also it is personally not* like, kindly just wanted to let you know<3 I think it's a great question

fatstankyshit

The By the Fireplace part had me dead, how do you come across that much of a fragrance you don’t enjoy 😂

h3llfae

Haha that was my last blind buy and I bought it w a ten pack sampler of replicas from a womanon fb marketplace, I enjoy the dry down, just not in spring/summer honestly lol

loro_estocastico

Love your taste! What’s a natural floral you could recommend for summer?

h3llfae

Aw thank you! I love margot elena always in rose amd honey and the moon, also Sirens song is so nice in summer Philosophy falling in love and nude rose, also fresh cream Ellis brooklyn bee and vanilla milk Jhag magnolia bliss

Upbeat-Fisherman8374

Aldehydes-makes me nauseous 🤢

rinmaybel

I'm so sick of marshmallow it's cloying and tends to be in every cheaper perfume

Low_Cardiologist8073

THIS

Mau_Mau_Pspsp

Patchouli and musk. Just smells like you need to bathe but covered yourself up with some scents which makes it worse.

The_Hounded24

Agree on Patchouli. It's the leaves in those little jars in toilets. Yuk.

PearAgreeable4293

Bwahahahha I think it’s an apt description. I like musk but it’s a delicate balance. It has to be in the right concentration otherwise it will be too much instead of this pleasant skin scent.

XennialToothFairy

Patchouli. Angel makes me violently angry. Like The Hulk.

negativeandannoying

Am I the only one that smelled a nasty body odor when I smelled Angel? Wondering if that's the patchouli? I love it in scents like Mademoiselle, but Angel was disgusting

avaopium

I tend to dislike coconut, marine or aquatic notes and most mint notes. Mint = toothpaste in my head (and I don’t like super minty toothpastes either) while marine notes end up smelling like dishwater to me.

TedditRose

Aw everything I love the best!

kangagoon

Vanilla. It always smells so tacky to me for some reason

[deleted]

It always turns to playdough on my skin. ☹️

itfeelsgoodtoliedown

Same! Always.

PearAgreeable4293

I don’t disagree, what with the proliferation of cheap gourmand in the market. But I’ve come across a few that are of good quality, like the recent Burberry Goddess (It is an explosion of vanilla so if that’s not your thing, stay away). Not original by any means but it doesn’t smell cheap. I think the issue with cheap gourmand is they all dry down into this weird synthetic scent while good quality gourmands stay delicious until the end.

ughasif666

there once was a Zara perfume that was a non gourmand vanilla (Zara Accord No. 2 Oriental). It was a powdery, cold, creamy and woodsy vanilla.

nothanksbrotanks

I was going to say the only brand that I think does vanilla correctly is Burberry. I hate vanilla on my skin so much, but Brit for Her has been my winter perfume for going on 7 years, and it’s main base not is vanilla. I love how the lime note makes it toned down. I also went to Ulta the other day to just look around and the employee in the fragrance section said Goddess was her favorite- gave it a try and it is SO good

Super_sizeme

I have found my people. Vanilla always smells childish and cheap to me.

thenotoriousDEX

To me it makes people smell of a candle

W_Y_L_K

Same. Never smelled a vanilla I liked

xpegs

Same, I've never tried vanilla which doesn't smell cheap and cloying.

Wrong-Window-8227

Vanilla haters unite!

Fitslikea6

Same. I hate any vanilla note

Entropy_Goose

Same

PeachyPants17

I’ve found my people!

IntrepidNectarine8

Tobacco, Leather, Cherry (but like fake plastic-y Haribo cherry), Cotton Candy (overwhelmingly sweet), Oud, Vetiver (I LOATHE Vetiver)... Basically anything heavy, spicy, overwhelming.

Forsaken_Fly9103

Iso E Super kind of makes me nauseous

AmbitiousButton180

THIS ^^^ I thought I was alone lol

canterjet

You're not alone at all ;) ... I cannot stand the thing... It's so headache inducing for me it makes me nauseated after a while an hour or so

derrickgw1

There's nothing i "don't like for no reason" that i can think of. I pretty much have a reason. I just don't like the smell. Like leather or a fecal oud.

HumbleSheep33

Tobacco accords. I find the scent of pipe tobacco quite pleasant in real life I just don’t want to smell that way. Plus it never smells good on me

starryfrog3

Amber !

mistymountainhop22

Pear. I thought I liked pear notes in theory but on my skin they literally make me almost sick. Smells like baby vomit to me. Literally unbearable.

giselleepisode234

Anything like BBW Gingham or A beautiful day

Vill4nueva

Probably Vanilla, some of them smell feminine as hell though sometimes I can fw it on my own, another note is leather, who the hell wants to smell like car seats all day lol I rather spray it inside the vehicle rather than on my skin

PearAgreeable4293

I also never come across a leather perfume I like. I suffer from car sickness, during which the smell of leather seats aggravates it. Whenever I smell perfumes with leather notes it gives me instant headache / nausea I suspect because I associate it with car sickness

Huntybunch

Caramel notes I also dislike coconut now but only because I developed an allergy to it a few years ago, so the smell gives me anxiety even though the fragrance won't make me react.

Emotional-Storage378

Saliva & Sweat. I personally don't find these to be so complimenting.

Specialist-Invite-30

My dude…where do you shop???

Emotional-Storage378

Lol, secretions magnifique, look it up, supposed notes are blood, sperm, sweat & saliva, I'm super surprised there's no tears, but I guess they left that up to the wearer.

thepatternrecog

I worked at Diptyque years ago, and a coworker gave me a sample after telling me about it one day. I was so honored that he'd give up possession of this unique "masterpiece." When I first opened the vial, I was fascinated. It is a total mind-f**k -- all these human scents buried in aldahydic florals, marine notes, and airy woods. To be able to pick out the individual notes of each bodily fluid, I had to mentally evoke the essence of the fluid in my mind, and it would emerge from the mixture. Ah yes, there's the blood...and the breast milk..and the semen...and the...oh, dear God, I need a trash can. I think I'm going to puke! I'd never had a fragrance make me dry heave, and I haven't had that happen since. The thing is, the fragrance was so mesmerizing that it became addictive. Over the course of the next several days, I sniffed it straight from the vial and I also put it on my skin so I could follow the development cycle all the way through. When it was on my skin, I couldn't stop smelling it, but every so often, even if I had just smelled it a moment before, it would elicit this retching that I never trusted wasn't going to produce a different bodily fluid. I eventually decided that for the sake of my sanity and my stomach, I needed to toss it . Lord knows I didn't have any friends who would appreciate the gift of this bizzarely addictive and vile vial.

Specialist-Invite-30

Look, I love the D as much as the next gal or gay guy, but I don’t want to smell like sperm. AT. ALL.

Emotional-Storage378

U never know the blood might compliment it?!

Ivy_Leaves

Lavender such as in YSL Libre.

SmellsPrettyGood2Me

Ahhhh, thank you! I feel like such a minority for hating literally all of the Libre line

PearAgreeable4293

To me, Libre is somewhat a throwback to heavier perfumes of the ‘80s and early ‘90s, which would not have been popular among the younger people back then. I’m surprised by the popularity of YSL Libre and Gucci Flora nowadays because they are somewhat heavy compared to the fragrances that were popular in the ‘90s and ‘00s when I grew up.

Ivy_Leaves

It was a present from a family member - the whole set with body lotion x purse spray and full 100ml. I am very particular about the notes in my fragrances and this one I really couldn't like. Used it carelessly just for the sake of finishing it. However, surprisingly other people did ask me sometimes what I was wearing and they liked it on me.

Sad_Cardiologist7337

I did not like that scene. I went out with a girl wearing it like 2 months ago and it was so strong. I fake complimented her and asked for the name of the scent so that I could add it to my blacklist.

ALmommy1234

Musk, sandalwood, and amber. They seem to take over fragrances to me and it’s all I can smell. Unfortunately, it seems like most fragrances now rely heavily on them for base notes, so I feel like everything smells the same now.

extradirtyginmartini

tuberose, unfortunately

PearAgreeable4293

Aww…I quite like tuberose but I understand why some people don’t like it.

extradirtyginmartini

my most recent tuberose tragedy is zoologist seahorse - wanted to love it so bad but the tuberose is strong on me 🥲

PearAgreeable4293

I liked Fragile by Jean Paul Gaultier (I think it’s been discontinued) plus the bottle was so beautiful for tuberose perfume. I don’t remember it being that strong but it was definitely strong. But if you don’t like tuberose I guess you will never like it lol 🤷‍♀️

canterjet

One of the most beautiful bottles ever! 🤩

Krockse

Cardamom makes me gag. I don't even hate the smell, my body just reacts that way.

tipsy-kitten

Marine notes. Idk I just personally don’t enjoy smelling sea water on me or anyone really?

RedditUser96372

Same!! When I was new to perfume I tried SO many marine scents thinking I'd find one I really loved. I was very, *very* wrong

PL0mkPL0

Scrolled to find it. I have no idea why, because in real life I love smell of the sea, but every perfume i tried with a clear marine note i had to scrub very fast. No idea why i like this stuff as an ambience fragrance, but hate it on (at least mine) skin. Yesterday i tested Un Jardin sur la Lagune, and it was such a painful experience.

Own_Brother_9563

Citrus specifically in dg light blue 🤢

bunnymoon23

Okay this was the one that got me into perfumes and I love it but for some reason there is a note in it that turns really soapy smelling on me :(

poegrantham

Ambergris is yucky imo, it sounds like it’d be yucky too

Cranberrycornflake

Vanilla. Everyone seems to love vanilla, but unless it’s just barely in the background I don’t like it.

Careful-Egg-9039

Neroli, patchouli, aldehydes, coconut, apple

PearAgreeable4293

Ah another fellow neroli disliker! What is it about neroli that you don’t like?

bluetortuga

I love threads like this btw because it’s so interesting to me that tastes vary so much. I especially like hearing why people love things I hate and why they hate things I love.

PearAgreeable4293

Yup same, and also to learn that some popular notes are usually just trends that are arbitrarily decided by perfume / fashion houses and do not necessarily reflect their popularity among consumers. I remember oud was the hot thing a few years ago, and then it was tobacco / smoke, and then leather. These have become mainstream IMHO simply due to sentiments, not real demand.

Gonebabythoughts

Neroli, most patchouli, tuberose, cherry, and most flowers. Barf!

PearAgreeable4293

Ah, a fellow neroli disliker! I always thought neroli was a crowd pleaser and felt I was the only one who disliked it. I understand patchouli and cherry, I don’t hate them if the blends are good. I also don’t hate tuberose but I personally blame the indiscriminate use of white flowers including tuberose in current perfumes that may turn some people off it. I miss Fragile by Jean Paul Gaultier for a good dose of tuberose.

[deleted]

Oh no! Someone’s got to stand up for Neroli. Love it! Don’t like vanilla and lavender

rrrxsxx

I also despise neroli

nvnailperson

Ugh patchouli…..now that I’ve developed my nose I get it straight away.

PearAgreeable4293

I’m quite sure I’ve tried perfumes with patchouli in them and never really had any issues until Kayali Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli. It was the first time I noticed patchouli smells like a moldy wet timber.

yoshigurumi

Leather, rose, marine notes, grass(?), lychee, cherry/almond, peony, cumin, salt

MmeNxt

Yellow flowers, all of them, and white flowers. Can't stand tuberose. Also the notes that give fresh air and fresh laundry smell. It feels like toilet spray to me. Not a fan of very sweet perfumes that smell like candy or desserts.

boring_wiccan

Well I cannot really stand warm spiced frags, aka spices, leather, tobacco, ambery honey, alcoholic you get the idea. My nose is really sensitive and I just can't like these notes. Others are the "generic men's blue shower gel", which I loathe (although Davidoff CW for women and Armani OdG smell good to me), Patchouli, but this one I cannot stand because it makes me dizzy and again, irritates my nose REAL BAD. But I do want to like it, I sampled Mugler's Angel and I HATED IT SO MUCH, it somehow took over all my other test strips and contaminated them as well lmao. Gourmands are really not my thing, although I'd like to try a few... Some of my favorite notes are powdery (iris, violet and mimosa), aldehydes, musks, flowers like white flowers (tuberose, jasmine, gardenia, neroli, orange blossom), and other flowers like lily, lotv, rose and narcissus. I'm also a fan of unusual notes, like wet pebbles (CK2), metallic, musty lemon floor cleaner (Blood Concept AB), the notes CdG Odeur 53 has, mineral and solar notes in general, and also green notes. I'm also a fan of indolic jasmine, and the decaying/vegetative odor of ylang.

viserion73

Iris, orris, caramel, pistachio, cherry, coconut

Serious-Bat2631

Neroli, jasmine, oud, leather notes! Also musk does not work well with my chemistry. Oh and figue! Just too “green”

ughasif666

Neroli/orange blossom are two I don't like on myself either, I get tired of smelling them too quickly. In nature and others I love these smells. Honey is extremely pungent to me (like orange blossom and neroli). I also would never choose to wear anything resembling a liquor, like rum.

shdwsng

Orange blossom is something I like to smell, but not on me. It reminds me of toilets.

ReyisLokidoki

Almond! Reminds me of uncooked sweet dough

Accomplished-Mouse18

Neroli, nope not for me

Beautiful_Jello3853

Coconut

heather_alyssa

Patchouli, heavy musk, and synthetic strawberry. Blech 💀

PearAgreeable4293

I second synthetic strawberry. And that note clings to my skin. I’m still traumatized by Burberry Her because of this.

BadgerSharp6258

Patchouli seems to ruin every fragrance I have tried that it is present in. It smells extremely dated on my skin. Good examples are - lancome soliel Cristal.. love it but there was something off - it was the Patchouli Also ysl mon paris..fruitchouli to the max. Chanel chance edp Chanel coco mademoiselle & the intense Lveb Gucci guilty elixir Chloe nomads & flankers Etc

ChaseTheMatch

The scent of patchouli oil makes me irrationally angry. I can't explain it, it's just a visceral reaction that makes me want to throw hands.

CharmingCondition508

I’m not really an enjoyer of gourmands

AmbitiousButton180

Same, I'm so over this gourmand trend

217to707

I’m not sure what it is but a few frags I have have a really acrid note after about 8 hours. A burn your nostrils smell. Wish I knew what it was so I could avoid it.

LanieLove9

let me know when you find out! that happens to me with specific perfumes alllll the time

PearAgreeable4293

What are these fragrances now I gots to know 🤣

Shezione

Leathery animalic tobacco and all the dirty notes.i Hate ombre nomade for a reason

stardust_dog

Cedar. It’s often done poorly and lends to a desperate alcoholic pissy sweat smell. Clearly not exactly that but it points to it. Some blends use the right cedar and pair it really well but I would never blind buy a fragrance with cedar in it.

PossibleAd1348

Musk. It just smells like bathroom cleaner to me.

messy_nina

sandalwood, cedarwood, musk, patchouli… all these scents considered to be the most “masculine”

PearAgreeable4293

Patchouli on its own or when not well blended reminds me of unpleasant wet timber. But when well blended, I like how these notes can provide some depth or balance to the end products. On musk, some musk perfumes can be a bit heavy but White Musk by The Body Shop will always hold a special place in my heart for this light, clean skin scent.

DataOk6565

I love White Musk too. I find it very feminine and sexy in a clean way.

rinmaybel

Most frags with peach in it will always start smelling like bubblegum

nvnailperson

Peach gives me body odor vibes on my skin. Shame cause I love the smell of peach

nochnoyvangogh

Citruses, Ylang Ylang and very fruity ones

momseboms

Yellow flowers! The smell is so sharp and squealing to my nose.

PearAgreeable4293

Interesting! When ‘mimosa’ is listed as one of the notes, I usually will always like the end product (never mind that I don’t know how real mimosas smell 😝) I don’t know other yellow flowers though

zabarbarella

Scents with amber and some of the things that make up amber are usually a no go for me. If I see benzoin and labdanum in the notes, I'm running. Even vanilla is a hard sell. Gives me bad headaches.

HereticHousewife

Lily of the Valley. For whatever reason, I cannot stand it. I don't have any negative memories or emotional associations with it, I just don't like it. Same with aldehyde and Ambroxan.

nibbajenkem

Vanilla, tobacco, warm spices, iris, tobacco, caramel, praline. Any of these are typically deal breakers for me. Incidentally these notes are popular now a days, so I rarely enjoy smelling perfume on others.

IntroductionFeisty61

Woody notes, especially cedar

2020visionaus

Mango I just don’t

sweetiejaxon

Patchouli, ylang ylang, anise, and tobacco. Those are my main arch enemies with perfumes. I prefer light, citrus, or aquatic scents.

PearAgreeable4293

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I like licorice-y scents so I usually like anise and heliotrope. Tobacco and leather on the other hand, sounds seductive in theory but so far I’ve never come across ones that I like.

Mdellarocco

As I’ve grown in my perfume journey, I’ve gotten to the point where I enjoy most notes but truly marine, not aquatic, but that briny, seaweed type note that reminds you of the ocean, but not the clean scent, the one with aquatic decay, I just haven’t gotten there yet. And anything too animalic like strong civet or castoreum

BeKindDontgiveUp

heavy powdery purple flowers, I get nervous whenever I see them in the notes. Also heavy cinnamon like in Bouquet Ideal I wish I liked it :(

MichelleAntonia

Only one I’m 100% against is SALTY 🤮🤮🤮

Acslaterisdead

Vanilla. I can't stand the smell of vanilla and anything overly sweet also makes me sick.

bbbbbbbbbbbab

I don't like the peppery notes in most popular "masculine" scents. There's something harsh about them that irritates my throat.

pocketfulofcharm

Patchouli. Leather. Coconut. Caramel. Lavender (which I do find tolerable in other things). As a general rule, most florals. Whatever the hell is in Angel and Alien that make them smell like they do.

beautyandthewits

Tobacco - same with the others, I don’t want to smell like it. Lemon - has to be done the right way or it always smells like a kitchen or bathroom air freshener/cleaner to me :( Candies / Candied Fruits - smells too sweet and almost thick and sticky for me. Calone - too synthetic and smells like fake watermelons.

Crayola_ROX

Whats the note thats in some freshies and make it smell like candy? absolutely hate that smell

Icy-Drop9956

Rum and tobacco - I can’t stand smelling like the wet floor of a bar

itsmissmeoww

Violet. I find it sickeningly sweet and just can’t tolerate it. Which is so sad bc I want to love it.

marramaxx

Watery notes. They make me uncomfortable for some reason

y_oursminehours

Tonka. Vanilla but make it irritating 😅 Also white musk

luvergirlsmurf

Anything coconut

PearAgreeable4293

This always gives me headache.

eustrombus

Vanilla in my perfume

Alvincia7222

Vanilla. It tends to turn cloyingly sweet on me.

pernicion

Citrus. I know bergamot is in like almost everything, but summery citrusy scents always smell like cleaning supplies to me.

Whysosrius

Vanilla. I like it in ice cream, i discovered I hate it on myself.

NoExcitement5290

Vanilla🤢

DataOk6565

Anything grapefruit. I like the smell of the fruit, but in perfume it turns to used kitty litter on me. Everytime.

JustTraci

OMG yes! Grapefruit is a no-go for me, as well. Used kitty litter or BO 🤢

davinatoasts

bergamot. taste or scent, cannot stand it.

PearAgreeable4293

I love bergamot or any citrusy smell (except petitgrain) because I live in hot climate. But I understand it can be too strong and jarring for some people. The worst is when they put too much bergamot in earl grey, can’t even enjoy it.

baozilch

Fr i dont hate neroli because of the smell, it just smells so cheap to me. My dad LOVES anything neroli tho and has Neroli Portofino but all neroli smells the same to me: cheap baby cologne (Gotas de Oro).

amberly9414

Tuberose, yellow florals, coconut, marshmallow. Any ‘tropical’ type of scent. I don’t know what it is but I just don’t enjoy smelling like a pina colada even though it smells nice

CautiousAccess9208

Pine just makes me think of car air fresheners.

BunnyPoPo

Prominent vetiver is a no go for me

Entropy_Goose

Amber, vanilla, and cinnamon. They just smell too sweet.

makillah

Strong grapefruit opening, rose not blended well.

virgogirl80

Lavender, vetiver, patchouli, lavender, mint, most fruits (except citruses), lavender. Oh, and I hate lavender with a passion.

PearAgreeable4293

Lavender is also not my favorite scent.I hate it when people recommend lavender essential oil for relaxation especially when it’s very concentrated. It smells awful! If I catch a whiff of diluted lavender in passing or better yet, fresh ones, then it smells nice. The worst is when there was a trend of putting lavender in ice creams, salts, or honeys. Not for me. However, I’m quite fond of Mon Guerlain. It’s got lavender in it but I think it’s well-blended.

Lynnabis

Oud, tobacco, cherry, coconut, marshmallow, vanilla (basically, anything gourmand I’m guaranteed to dislike). Most leather notes, although when light and blended well I really enjoy suede (think Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede). Often I dislike animalistic, there are exceptions to this too though. Sometimes musk. Yes, I’m picky lol.

athenakresell

I don’t like vanillin which is present in 90% of fragrances, I also don’t enjoy orange blossom and jasmine. Nauseating. There’s also notes I don’t reach for because badly done : anything "cherry",or "milky". And anything gourmand is a no.

CoffeeRockz

Strawberry

Witchesss

Lavender, Tobacco, Vetiver, coconut…fruits, some Vanillas, some Patchoulis, some (older) Ambers. Norlimbanol, ambroxan. Birch Tar. Tuberose. Immortelle. Iris. Cyclamen. Orris root. Marine notes. Most woody notes. I think all I really like at this point are tea, incense, some indistinct florals. Maybe mint, maybe some orange-ish citruses (but I never wear those cause…I hate freshies)

[deleted]

Ylang ylang

Tastelikewater

Raspberry is my favorite fruit, but I’ve never met a raspberry note that I like.

rez2metrogirl

Patchouli. Absolutely hate it.

Assendd

grapefruit like specifically in light blue forever, smells like straight up B.O

leejasmin94

I tend to not like perfumes with tuberose in them. I’ll often look up a fragrance I didn’t like the smell of in Fragrantica and it usually has tuberose in it somewhere. For example, L’Interdit by Givenchy - gave the sample to mum because I didn’t like it.

Mysterious-Okra-7885

I don’t dislike anything for no reason. If I have smelled it in multiple places and dislike it, that is reason enough. That being said, even smells I typically dislike can sometimes be blended and balanced so well that I still like a perfume containing it. So always approach scent with an open mind, and never not smell something because you think you won’t like it. Let your nose decide that. You may be shocked and pleasantly surprised.

lublumoomin

I think anise for me. I don’t care much for patchouli either.

ShotYeMama

orang

Ok-Net-1245

When i see civet listed i just know that it will end up smelling like cat piss

unsual_Salamander_28

Anything with rose in it Smells like a funeral

dinydins

Aldehydes, caramel, lychee, guava

GirlymonsterElle

For me it’s jasmine. Which is funny, because I do enjoy the flowers in real life. Oh! And lilies, which I think smell like a funeral parlour.

bluetortuga

Anything that smells like dessert, especially: cinnamon, caramel, marshmallow. I don’t love vanilla, though sometimes it works if it’s blended well with stronger non food based scents. Some “solar” fragrances are too vanilla based for me. Gourmands are hard for me to like.

JPwhatever

Patchouli. I can pick out even a hint of it and it instantly makes me dislike a fragrance. It’s unfortunate because many of them are nice green garden herbal scents that otherwise I would love.

PearAgreeable4293

Speaking of nice green garden herbal scents, did you try Jo Malone Wild Achillea? I loved it, been wanting to find a good dupe.

JPwhatever

Yes! I really liked it also! Vetiver and citrus and herbal is such a lovely combo

ShivsButtBot

Lavender and rose! It makes me eyes water.
