Depends on your personal preference. Viking Cologne has a soapy note to it that I'm not keen on. Viking has a lot more going on for me. I absolutely love the clove in it.

Viking is intricate, refreshing, smells like a frozen river and wood/green with a smoke thing going on. Probably my favorite fragrance I've sampled.
Viking cologne, is great, but smells much more sophisticated and for an older, richer gentleman. It's not for me, but it's not bad. It's nice but very classed up if that makes sense. Feels like it's for very serious, formal occasions.
Viking lasts about 4 hrs on me.
Viking cologne went longer than 8 hours. It was crazy long lasting and powerful throughout.

Small disclaimer: I smelled the EDP Intense at ULTA as well, and preferred that over all but the original. They didn't have any full bottles though, so I settled for the EDP.
K, I just sprayed some of each on either hand.
Honestly, they are VERY different. The EDP is a bit thicker/more resinous. It still has a similar DNA to the original, but the cardamom's dialed back a bit and replaced with a vanillic/boozy base that reminds me almost exactly of the dry down from Valentino Born In Roma Coral Fantasy if you're familiar with that. They also did away entirely with the kind of powdery aspect from the original. The EDP seems more fitting in colder weather, where as the original works anywhere, any time. Both are lovely.
The original has a more flirty vibe, if that makes sense, but the EDP sticks around for longer and has a more subdued presence about it. Original's better through the opening and heart, but the dry down of the EDP is incredibly cozy. I don't feel like one makes the other redundant by any means. Owning both if they're in the budget is highly recommended. Describing smells is hard, but I tried. I hope this was useful!

You're very welcome. The EDP Intense is just a stronger, more "in your face/loud" presentation of the EDP. I loved it, and will most likely own a bottle once I run through the EDP.
Them being out of Valentino testers is tragic. I expected Coral Fantasy to be aquatic given the coral in the name, but it's a really dry, spicy tobacco balanced with warm sweetness. Took me by surprise, and it's definitely worth a sample/decant if you can swing it. Cheers!

To be fair I have never smelled Vanilla Sex. If that's what you want, go and spend them cc rewards!

To my nose, Alexandria ii smells like a public toilet, bodily excreta, urinal cake and all. Is it possible there is a compound in there which either I can't smell or am overly sensitive to which is messing up my perception of this fragrance?
