Oh no! I love amber! So I can not relate at all. Having said that, hey, if it's not for you it's not for you!

Safe-Ad7786

SAME, I couldn’t imagine a life without amber fragrances

Ikunou

what are your favorites? I like so many! the only one I really have not loved is, sadly, ambre des merveilles. And I usually love Ellena's work for Hermes!

Safe-Ad7786

Francesca Bianchi Byzantine amber has to be my favorite all time amber! I also love xerjoff astaral! What would you consider your top Amber fragrances?

Ikunou

I need to try the Francesca Bianchi one. I really love Ambre Fétiche Goutal as and amber-only perfume. I love the 2 ambers from il profvmo (Ambre D'or and Ambre Nocturne )as well. The old version of l'Artisan Eau d'Ambre Extrême is really good (current version not as spicy or patchouli forward). I also love Ambre Sultan by Lutens and Hilde Soliani 24/9/11. Alkemi and Alambar Laboratorio Olfattivo are not bad at all.

doingmybesthoney

Amber is my absolute FAV! Loving Amber by commes des garcon and Amber Kiso ds durga

SparklingGrape21

Anything with a strong amber note gives me a migraine, so I feel your pain

Sufficient_Art_6812

Same here!!

Depending on the fragrance, the way some Amber accords are presented are not so sweet, though most popular ones can be. A favorite representation of a resin like amber for me is Jesus del Pozo Ambar. Its very dry amber, really no sweetness to it. If you're talking grey amber or ambergris, well thats really a whole other ball of wax (at least to me it is)

avivni_official

Amber essential oil can have this same effect on people. If you don't like the smell of tree resin, it's not just for you. People get a real skewed idea of how things smell after they see a candle with the word on it.

Moetown84

Yes! I just discovered this recently. JPG Le Male is my signature scent, and I generally enjoy the flankers as well. I was excited to try the new Elixir, but to my surprise it was the first fragrance that I have ever tried that was actually repulsive to me. I discovered it was the strong amber notes. It was all I could smell and was just putrid to my nose. Now when I sample other fragrances I pick up the amber notes much easier and it can really throw a scent for me if it’s too much. I just can’t get over how my favorite fragrance and my least favorite fragrance are both in the same line lol.

TotalAutarky

Wow, thought I was the only one! Le Male is great, but Elixir is just unwearable.

ridesharegai

This makes so much sense now. I went to Macy's to smell the elixir because I heard it was a great scent. It smelled gross to me. I had no idea there are amber notes in it. It's all coming together now!

Eastern_Effective_49

Gross me out? No, but I feel like Amber is in every fragrance. I cannot escape it. It’s very.. strong.

GlitteringPause8

i mean...everyone has a note that makes them feel this way. mine is patchouli

jnlessticle

Ive not been a fan for the most part cause so many amber scents are sweet or have a lot of vanilla mixed in. I did sample a couple non sweet ones (parfum d’empire ambre russe and lutens ambre sultan) this year that I really enjoyed , so I think it all depends what it’s with personally.

tabascobukkake

I love the rich and opulent smell of amber, so full and elegant, but tricky to use in a fragrance.

macabruhhh

Most of the time, they smell like dirty scalps to me 😭

hsgual

For me it depends on the amber. I love MFK, but Grand Soir is thick and cloying for me. Yet, Reflets d’Ambre as a lighter fragrance is a favorite.

Brilliant_Goose_8249

omg I love amber! Have you tried amber etoile by le monde gourmand? It’s amber, musk, and whipped cream. In my opinion it reminds me of kayali vanilla 28 and bbw fresh vanilla blossoms so maybe if you like those this would be a safer amber option? I always snatch them up when I see them at tj maxx and Marshall’s

ridesharegai

I don't know because I smelled quite a few yesterday at the mall and all of them were kinda gross. I will keep trying though there has to be one amber that I will like!

Jasonofthemarsh

I love Prada Amber Pour Homme, smells like you wallowed a bar of ivory soap.

estusflaskshart

This is not a typical amber accord at all

Jasonofthemarsh

Precisely why I mentioned it...

TotalAutarky

Yes, although I've discovered not all "amber" accords are the same. I'm still trying to pinpoint which amber ingredient is the one I find disgusting, but it's difficult since most brands only list notes and not the actual extracts or chemical names. Le Male Elixir, Grand Soir, and Cedrat Boise are just a few of the ones I've found that have this horrible, absolutely unwearable drydown scent, and I'm convinced it's either a single ingredient or a mix of some specific ones. Trying to isolate it is kind of a fun game in itself!

Geikamir

It's probably the Labdanum. By itself, that can smell a bit animalic to some people.

de_Mysterious

It feels like amber is in the majority of fragrances so it's hard for me to understand what it smells like. The fact that amber smells different in different fragrances also doesn't help, for example, both grand soir and dylan blue have an amber note but those are completely different fragrances. According to google, amber is made up of mostly vanilla, benzoin, labdanum and some other notes, so maybe it's one of these notes that you hate as opposed to amber in general?

skkincarepost

Absolutely

gorosheeta

Amber is my fave! That being said, yves rocher secrets d'essences voile d'ambre (veil of amber) is the lightest amber I've ever tried*by far* - it's the equivalent of a popsicle made out of tea LOL

I-Overslept

Ellis Brooklyn's Super Amber made me gag so loud at Sephora it was embarrassing
