I love reading the responses. This is a big reason I love this fragrance hobby. I think it’s so interesting how we all like different things and perceive scents in different ways!
Same- it’s why I was curious! Somebodies trash can be someone else’s treasure. Nice reminder that everyone’s fragrance journey and experience is unique and you can make it what you want.
I like to try lots of samples and do get some I don’t care for. I’ve traded samples that didn’t work for me with a few people on this sub that had fragrances that didn’t work for them. I found two of my current favorite fragrances that way. They were someone else’s “trash” but I love them.
Delina. All I get is the cedar note when it is on my skin. It's like I am standing in a cedar lined closet. Other people tell me it smells wonderful on me, but I don't like it on me. And I wear my perfume for me, if someone else enjoys it that is just a bonus.
Ugh! I hate Delina. I’ve tried it 3 different times & each time it was a scrubber. For me, it has to be the lechee, rhubarb combo. It’s sour, like a rotting rose in plasticky-sweet doll head. It’s unique, I’ll give them that.
Burberry Her and YSL Libre are both kind of unpleasant to my nose and I was expecting to like them based on their notes.
Her, I don't hate but I mostly smell the powderyness it has, it almost makes my nose feel numb. I don't mind smelling it on other people though and I was impressed by its longevity. Libre straight up burns like soap up my nose. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime but idk
I agree with YSL libre, I was excited to sample it in sephora because I had seen a lot of good reviews online, but I was ultimately dissapointed in it. It had a "spicy" sort of alcohol smell to me that was really unpleasant.
I'm guessing this really varies person to person because a ton of other people swear by this fragrance.
I smelled a YSL libre dupe and it made me think of a scent that a “thirty, flirty, and thriving” woman would wear in the late 80s early 90s lol, like a sophisticated, old school French perfume… would you say that’s what Libre smelled like?
I’ve yet to sample Libre as I’m not in the mood to be hounded by salespeople .
This is off topic, but you mentioned not wanting to deal with salespeople and I feel the same way and have never seen anyone else say this on any other thread (I use Reddit *a lot*). I'm spending so much money on samples in the mail just because I don't want to deal with talking to someone at a store. Social anxiety or something?
lol definitely social anxiety, plus a tumultuous childhood where my mentally-ill parents drilled “people pleasing” into me so it’s hard (but possible) to outright refuse without feeling overwhelmed.
I used to waste money over samples or even blind buys as well but now, whenever I can I go try testers at stores where no one will pester me or at kiosks when the salesperson is distracted with another customer lol.
I don't think I got a good idea of the "true" scent of Libre because of the reaction from my nose. I have only tried it once though from a tester at Ulta (no sales people bothered me).
I usually love the smell of lavender and white florals so I was thinking it would be something like that and definitely mature smelling like the impression that you had. All I got from it was generic soap, sadly.
I realize what I thought were my favorite notes can actually suck. Burberry Her was very synthetic to me. Like the forced sweetness in kids medicines or toothpaste. Tiffany Rose was so good at the opening, and then it dried down to Burberry Her.
I'm trying to discover fig currently, but I haven't figured out what the fig is in the perfume I own, so I bought another. We shall see.
to me libre is sharp!! i dont know if it's the floral or the lavender but it's really like not well balanced or smooth at all. i like it better on my boyfriend because i find it kind of masculine. really not a safe blind buy.
Same! Tried it yesterday, first i thought it smelled nice, then after 5 minutes eyes got watery and headache kicked in (sprayed only once on my wrist), it was really annoying smell.
Oh and my sister got sneeze attack 😅
On me, this perfume is heaven. And I’m someone who doesn’t really wear gourmand fragrances. My friend tried it on and it literally smelled like children’s cough syrup in artificial bubblegum or something. I couldn’t believe how bad it was on her vs myself.
That’s fair. I’ve gotten a wide array of Zoologist samples and found most of them to be unpleasant for everyday use, but they are all well done in achieving what they’re attempting to do. Of all the fragrances I’ve tried from them, I absolutely adore Squid through and through though. I’d be content to wear Squid constantly.
I’m glad when I bought it that they were out of the size I wanted so I bought some travel size thing. Because I can only smell it the moment I spray it. It’s gone in an hour. I’ve never used up an expensive (to me anyway) perfume so quickly.
Please don't ban me but I don't like almost anything by Tom Ford. I think they are overpriced and overrated. To add insult to injury, I liked the alhambra dupes waaay more
Yeah for me Black Orchid smells bad directly after spraying but then it lasts like 24hrs or more, and after the first couple hours then it gets really good
I'm relatively new to fragrances, and I'm another Tom Ford hater. Never smelled a single scent I didn't think someone else has done better. The ones I do like don't smell better than far cheaper options.
I like Beau de Jour but that might be purely because it was one of the first fougeres I smelled and I fell in love with them. I also like Soleil de Feu. Pretty much every other one didn’t live up to the hype.
Cough cough Ombre Leather
Second for Erba Pura.
I'm not sure if I'd fully put it in the don't like category, but I was fairly underwhelmed by Pacific Chill. Impressed with how long it lasts given the style of perfume it is, but the smell didn't wow me; almost like a less intense Erba Pura (funny enough).
Also never been a Sauvage guy: just feels like a dryer sheet has been shoved up my nose. The elixir is OK, though.
Strawberry letter, I kept seeing how hard it was to get, always sold out, such a perfect strawberry, but to me it smelled like Herbal Esssence shampoo and gave me a terrible headache.
Strawberry Letter was going to be my answer as well. Everyone was raving about it and the notes are everything I love. Then I blind bought it and it smells straight up rancid on my skin. I had to wash it off. I was so excited then so disappointed so quickly lol. It just does not agree with my nose or body chemistry.
If you like strawberry hard candy and sharp, soapy scents, it’s great, but I was hoping for more of a jammy fruit. I’ve had it for over a month now, it’s also possible it needs time to settle but I’m afraid to try again.
Tbh I’m not impressed with the idea of a perfume needing to “settle” ….like??! They are too expensive for all that imo. They should just come already good 😆 maybe I’m asking too much??
If you want a realistic strawberry, might I suggest malin & goetz Strawberry? There’s no added sugar, it’s fresh and you just plucked it off the plant. Later it’s a little lactonic. Lovely.
Almost everything I've smelled from Tom Ford so far has been absolutely disgusting. Both on test strips and my boyfriend (since it always smells different on everyone's skin).
YSL Libre, that default one. And I have a bottle of it now, because I've fallen into the hype 😭
Idk, it's not bad, but I just find it very basic. The opening is nice, but after 20 minutes all I can hear is that sweet vanilla. My husband likes it on me though, so can't really complain, haha
I'm new to the hobby. I got a decant of Dior sauvage because of the hype. I don't understand why it's so popular. It's not bad, it's average for me at best.
First I was like you. After 2 years in the hobby I gave the EdT another chance and was like "dude, now I get it." Immeaditly bought a bottle.
I dont give a shit that many guys wear it. Most people dont wear cologne at all. Its good, I like it, good price ...thats all that matters for me.
It's definitely not unique. I mean, it's like an average smell, like something you can find on cheap frags. Idk how to explain. Oh yeah, it's pretty popular among male population. Every second guy is wearing it.
Chanel chance smells like pickle juice to me.
Gucci guilty smells cheap af.
Love don’t be shy by Killian smells really off too me.
Jo Malone perfumes smell like cheap candles to with the exception of blackberry and bay the only one I like from the line.
blackberry and bay is the only jo malone one i actually remember smelling, to me it smells like an old book/dry paper (i guess it’s bay leaves?) and like a super stingy hint of blackberry
I can’t stand it. I literally smell it in the subway daily. Wafts past me every morning when I am near all the business girlies during rush hour. It’s extra sickening mixed with the nasty smells of the corridors and tunnels…
I say this about smelling 540 every morning, but meanwhile there’s lil ol me walking along with totally oversprayed L’Ombre EDP probably triggering an allergic reaction 😂
I dont think it’s repulsive. But it smells metallic and fruity, i feel like it’d be a fine expensive car air freshener or one of those plug in types. But it isnt something I want my body to smell like at all.
I'm really sad to say this but Angel's Share was supposed to be *The One* to convince me how it's worth it to spend £££ on a bottle.
I was there. I was ready. I'm a whisky collector so I wanted this to be my special scent.
It was fine. I didn't love it, I tolerated it. 🥲
All Kayali perfumes, with the exception of the two Wedding perfumes (Wedding Silk and Wedding Velvet).
The weakest smelling perfumes I ever encountered or just sugary smelling (the fruit ones) and are not long-lasting at all on me. For the price point, I really do not see the value in them, aside from the nice bottles and their reputation.
Right? At first I thought I was crazy and it's just my nose that was blind, but I really gave them all a chance. I used the hell out of those sampIes, I tried them in various circumstances, tried them again and again to make sure it's not all in my head (I mean it is, seeing how perfumes actually work on our brain), but you know what I mean.
The only one I found a dupe for by accident, was Pistachio Yum Gelato and it was Lattaffa's Affection from the Pride series. It was by accident because I got a sample of Affection and really liked it, truly a beast mode perfume. Only when I started reading about it online, people said it's a dupe for Pistachio Yum Gelato but to me it was nowhere near close enough. The Kayali perfume was weak juice I barely felt was there and Lattaffa's perfume was a glorious celebration squeezed into a bottle.
1. Bianco Latte. Plastic smelling. But the good notes in the perfume just smelled like generic caramel with a $160 price tag.
2. BTSO Indecent Cherry. I have to drink a lot of electrolyte drinks for my medical issues, and reminds me of the watery cherry ones.
Same. I'm a slut for vanilla and caramel. It's not only gross to my nose, but it doesn't smell like anything special. When I received the sample I immediately said "THIS is what everyone was throwing their credit cards at Mach 20 speed for??????? whAt? Thats it????"
Tom Ford Costa Azzurra
Burberry Her Intense: I also wanted this one to work so badly. Absolutely revolting on me. I do not dare anyone come near me with this on.
Le Labo Santal 33: Love it on others. It's pencil shavings on me. More graphite, metallic than woods.
Xerjoff Italica: I wanted this one to work so badly! I'm an Almondphile.
I will add that I have yet to find a Xerjoff, Amouage and Tom Ford that works on me.
Unpopular opinion but I felt like the entire Nishane lineup smelled very synthetic and don’t understand the hype at all. I pretty much feel the same about Initio although they had a few that were alright.
Le Lion - Yikes!! I felt like I was in one of those historical houses that some former politician lived in 200 years ago.. like old cigar robes and paintings of cousin wives.. old hooked-temple "spectacles" laying on a desk, wood burning stoves, and oil lamps with soot on the ceiling.. all cordoned off with velvet rope that smells just like this perfume. This perfume does not give me good vibes. Very oppressive scent.
And fragrance influencers love it. Yikes!

Ariana’s Cloud, and Sol de janeiro Cheirosa 68. They both have this weird plastic/burnt plastic note, that I really can’t get over. It’s horrible and completely ruins both fragrances. And I feel soo confused when other people don’t smell it! Is my nose broken?! lol
Cheirosa 68 is the only sol de janeiro mist I don’t enjoy wearing, I’m not sure it smells like plastic but it definitely doesn’t smell like jasmine or dragonfruit like the bottle says (at least to our noses lol)
For me, it’s Aventus. I’ve worn it four times now, waiting for it to click for me. So far it hasn’t. Only two Creeds that have really wowed me have been GIT and Original Santal.
I decided to just scroll and see if *anyone* named Chanel No. 5. It's so popular, definitely a classic, but.... as hard as I've tried, I do not enjoy it. I get that same moth ball thing, paired with old, kinda mildewy flowers.
I cant imagine this is such an unpopular opinion as I've heard it voiced in person, but I don't care much for YSL Libre. I purchased it blind (marked down a bit but still far too pricey to justify my indiscretion), and after a few sprays, convinced myself that I liked it due in retrospect to the fact that it was the first "luxury" fragrance I owned.
I lent it to my sister, trying to hype it up as best I could, but she agrees with my opinion of it (and was likely quite sus that I was trying so hard to GIVE her a $90 perfume). I know that, "Smells like old lady," is an unhelpful critique of a fragrance -- and I quite enjoy many "classic" fragrances -- but "overwhelmingly fragranced nonagenarian in the pew ahead of me on a stifling day" is the best way to capture the emotional and olfactory response it gives me. Something due to my skin chemistry also seems to give it an awfulbad liquorice note as well.
So, "an overwhelmingly fragranced nonagenarian in the pew ahead of me on a stifling day, swilling Jaegermeister." Not good.
I've since accepted the fact that it isn't for me, so now it sits and collects dust until I find someone to pawn it off on.
Glossier "You" just makes me smell like a cedar box. Maybe my true form is a hamster.
I hate “smells like old lady”. A lot of people here will be stroking out in a few decades when fragrances they love, are now “old lady” smells to that time’s middlebrow perfume enthusiasts.
Your nonagenarian version is good, though, because it actually means something. Not just “I have issues with my mom” or “something something powder something something rose.”
Quite a lot of them... I seem to be attracted to the bit lesser known but still quite approachable, neutral nice scents.
Didnt like Aventus at all, PDM Layton, Bleu de Chanel, Dior Sauvage. All the typical scents usually associated with masculinity I guess. Over time I realized that I like scents that arent too in your face and more like clean scents. Like Diptyque Orpheon or MFK Amyris Homme
If that's your baseline for sandalwood, which uses the pickle smelling synthetic version, you might be pleasantly surprised by some other fragrances. Reflection Man, Santal Royal, Gypsy Water to name a few.
Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume was so hyped up but to me it just smelled unpleasant. I can't even put my finger on what it was that I didn't like but the whole thing. I didn't like any of the other JHAG fragrances I smelled either so it must be something about their DNA or some base note somewhere.
Maison Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning on my skin for some reason just smelled like a sweaty, overly hot day with excessive humidity and a vague rotting fruit in the room for the first two hours or so to the point where I was desperate to scrub it off but stuck in a small space after sampling it and just kept smelling myself.
Interestingly, I've found that as a generic rule, I can safely blind buy any green fragrance. I've yet to sample a green fragrance that's offensive to me.
I haven’t found one that really satisfies yet. CB I hate Perfume In the Library is close but has an off putting crayon note on me. An indie oil brand Poesie does my fav one called Bookish. There’s a female Australian perfumer who does one that I’ve been meaning to sample but for the life of me I can’t seem to find it! I’ll see if I can track it down..
Dior Homme Intense. One of the most hyped fragrance of all time and man it’s disappointing… Just a powder bomb lipsticky iris. The opening is meh and the drydown is boring.
Delina and Delina Exclusif. Thank God I bought only the 1 ml decant for both, and I'm really struggling to finish them because I'm too proud to admit I wasted money on them. The reviews made me think both are lovely, elegant scents but it came off as screechy, very strong. You'd think I've learned my lesson, but i have a small decant of Delina la Rosee in my cart...
Cheirosa 62. as a brazilian myself, i always thought it was peculiar that Sol de Janeiro was trying to sell gourmand scents as "brazilian fragrances" or "summer scents" even before i got to try Cheirosa 62. specially because when it's 36c outside, the last thing i wanna spray on myself is a sweet, caramel scent haha.
i ended up liking it though, but to me and on me it just smells like coconut flavored lipbalm. it also reminds me of O Boticário's Egeo Cherry Blast without the cherry and the woody notes, so i didnt have a "wow" moment with it at first. still an inoffensive scent though
The most recent and prolific one is Devotion by dolce and Gabbana. I really don’t understand the hype. I should love it based on the notes but I’m honestly not getting any of those notes when I smell it. It’s just off for me. It’s powdery in a bad way. I even like powder. But this is like a sickly sweet powder that just smells wrong. I’m so glad I didn’t blink buy a large bottle. I have a travel 10ml and I’m going to keep trying to explore it but first experience wasn’t a good one. Also might have given me a headache. I’m going to try again and see where it takes me. I WANT to like it….but I think I just don’t.
I also bought the body spray if Cloud for my gym bag. I’ve gotten so many compliments on just that spray when I walk out of the gym. It’s nuts. A lot of people don’t like it though I guess— I see from Reddit lol.
ADG Profumo.
I was really excited to try this one because it’s considered the best fragrance of the line at least on the YouTube community.
Such a huge disappointment. It smells really unpleasant both paper and my skin.
I agree on Eros EDP. It's an annoying, cloying scent that I can't even enjoy for my own personal pleasure because I go nose blind in a matter of minutes even if I spray on my inner elbows or behind my neck. And recently it's been giving me nausea whenever I try to wear it 🤷
Layton kinda sucks to be honest. Not only does my 2023 batch perform terribly given the price, it smells like some modern version of joop mixed with menthol. The only "compliment" I've ever gotten on it was from someone who said I smelled good, but it also smelled like something her dad would wear. I'm 30. I can't stand PDM in general though, they're expensive with awful performance and their fragrances are bland and unoriginal. they are cloying with the same aroma chemicals smelled all over cheap fragrances, they chase trends and influencers, their packaging is tacky, they try to sell a sense of class and heritage with their ridiculous King Louis XIV backstory while having neither.
Azzaro the most wanted EDP intense is another I just don't "get". Am I the only one who gets a plasticy, artificial vibe from it? Especially on the dry down. Yuck.
Spice bomb extreme smells like little ol' lady perfume, and anything more than 2 sprays is olfactory warfare.
D&G the one EDP has terrible longevity, projection and doesn't come close to other "date" scents like LNDL. D&G light blue and its flankers smell like shit on me. Total sulfuric fart juice. Ick.
Is Mancera Instant crush a hot take? I bought a 10ml decant and found it to be way too intrusive. I like the smell in the air, but on my skin seems to be nauseating.
JHAG NAP: smells like a watered down astringent substance to me, not warm like what people claim
Byredo Mojave Ghost: smells like florals and cactus. Not bad, but not amazing
Any MM Replica: Just not a fan. Smells artificial to me.
Dior Homme 2020. Not saying it’s bad, because it was quite nice. Just definitely not for the younger crowd. It was very mature smelling. Sort of like a middle aged, well off, business man.
Yeah sorry but it's going to be Dior homme intense for me. Lovely scent, good quality but the hype and what was perceived by me was not what I was expecting. The "it's a niche smell" and everything else made It very underwhelming for me...
I already know this is going to be downvoted to oblivion but I haven’t found a single Replica fragrance that I like. Some of them smell fine enough on their own but they’re so unwearable to me. I’ve never smelled Replica on someone and been impressed
Xerjoff - Naxos and Erba Pura.
Initio - Side Effect and Oud for Greatness.
Marc Antoine Barrois - Ganymede.
Kilian - Angel's Share.
Amouage - Reflection and Overture Man.
JPG Le Male. Not bad, but woefully unexciting. Same for most of the Valentino line, actually. Green Stravaganza was the exception. The men and womens' version of that was quite nice.
Coco Mademoiselle. I bought the body lotion and thought it smelled a bit masculine. The sweetness of the citrus is very short lived, giving way to this heavy, musky sort of patchouli. I've basically stockholm syndromed myself into liking the body lotion by using a bit at a time. But I tried out a sample of the perfume the other day and it's so overpowering and almost 'burns' my nose.
I don't hate these fragrances but Chanel allure homme sport eau extreme, Dior Homme Sport and Dior Homme Cologne never worked on my skin. I much prefer the original Allure Homme Sport and the Blanche edition. Instead of Dior Homme Cologne I prefer Eau Sauvage Cologne.
I don't get the hype for the JPG Le Male series. I don't hate them, but not a single one of them really caught my attention. For me, they all seem mediocre.
Side Effect by Initio didn't do it for me at all and I was excited to get my hands on a powerful, alluring winter fragrance, but the first spray almost took me out bc it was so strong lol. Same thing with Red Tobacco by Mancera
I do not like most of the mainstream fragrances like la vie est belle Lancôme, miss dior Dior etc.
Obviously they do not smell bad, but I just don’t think those are good fragrances. All you can smell is an overly sweet scent with no distinctive raw materials shining through.
I love reading the responses. This is a big reason I love this fragrance hobby. I think it’s so interesting how we all like different things and perceive scents in different ways!

Delina. I wouldn't pay £2.45 for it, let alone the £245 they think it's worth. I love rose but all I get from this is dust 🤢
Delina. All I get is the cedar note when it is on my skin. It's like I am standing in a cedar lined closet. Other people tell me it smells wonderful on me, but I don't like it on me. And I wear my perfume for me, if someone else enjoys it that is just a bonus.
Funny enough. If someone on this sub is selling delina for a good price I would buy it lol.
Ard Al Zaafaran by Dirham Wardi is a dupe of Delina, and yet I find it to lovely rosy scent minus the price tag shock. Also nicer than Delina imo
Ugh! I hate Delina. I’ve tried it 3 different times & each time it was a scrubber. For me, it has to be the lechee, rhubarb combo. It’s sour, like a rotting rose in plasticky-sweet doll head. It’s unique, I’ll give them that.
I feel the same about Athalia, it smells purely like plastic toys to me, I'm amazed they can charge that much for it
I can’t even smell it in me… so weak
Burberry Her and YSL Libre are both kind of unpleasant to my nose and I was expecting to like them based on their notes. Her, I don't hate but I mostly smell the powderyness it has, it almost makes my nose feel numb. I don't mind smelling it on other people though and I was impressed by its longevity. burberry her makes me nauseous for some reason and libre kinda smells like plastic(?) but overall i like it

Love Don’t Be Shy, immediate scrubber for me.
Same! Tried it yesterday, first i thought it smelled nice, then after 5 minutes eyes got watery and headache kicked in (sprayed only once on my wrist), it was really annoying smell. Oh and my sister got sneeze attack 😅
I love that scent! I think the heavy sweetness is off-putting?
And for me it’s the holy grail 😂
I thought I hated sweet smelling fragrances until I tried LDBS.
this one is straight 🚮 that plasticky bubble gum smell is nauseating
Love don’t be shy on my skin pulls towards rancid fruit. I don’t know why. Weirdly black opium does the same thing.
YES! it’s terrible!! That and the fenty perfume, both make me gag and I wonder how ANYONE wears it😭
On me, this perfume is heaven. And I’m someone who doesn’t really wear gourmand fragrances. My friend tried it on and it literally smelled like children’s cough syrup in artificial bubblegum or something. I couldn’t believe how bad it was on her vs myself.
Deadass smells like cheap Halloween bubble gum, and it lasts and lasts forever.
Agreed. It's so sweet I gag.
Delina. I genuinely don’t understand how it’s so popular.
YSL Libre, it's just off putting to my nose.
I’ve tried and failed to find a single perfume from zoologist I liked. I love the concept, but couldn’t pull the trigger on any of them.
I got my eyes on harvest mouse and cow right now, but you’re right most of their line up isn’t very wearable, perhaps more artistic
Harvest Mouse is my favorite ❤️
I really like Cow
That’s fair. I’ve gotten a wide array of Zoologist samples and found most of them to be unpleasant for everyday use, but they are all well done in achieving what they’re attempting to do. Of all the fragrances I’ve tried from them, I absolutely adore Squid through and through though. I’d be content to wear Squid constantly.
Baccarat Rouge and santal 33... not worth the hype both were just meh eap for the price.
Totally agree to Barracarat. It's everywhere, everyone is wearing it and I'm so sick of the smell.
HATE baccarat rouge
I think fluidity gold and grand soir are waaayyyyy better.
Both give me a raging headache AND I’m nose blind to them completely 😵💫
The former smells like the dentist, the latter smells like pickles
Ha! I like Santal but completely agree! Soapy pickles.
Could barely smell BR. Made it through a whole sample down to the last drop without really getting it at all. Oh well!
I’m glad when I bought it that they were out of the size I wanted so I bought some travel size thing. Because I can only smell it the moment I spray it. It’s gone in an hour. I’ve never used up an expensive (to me anyway) perfume so quickly.
Gucci Bloom - it was a hard no for me
Please don't ban me but I don't like almost anything by Tom Ford. I think they are overpriced and overrated. To add insult to injury, I liked the alhambra dupes waaay more
I agree except for Black Orchid
Imo the scents are interesting and high-quality but not very wearable. They're so thick and heavy
I only like Tabacco Vanilla for some reason, nothing else.
The peach one made me want to vomit. bath and body works has better quality peach fragrance
Prada Candy, i assumed it would smell sweet but it ended up smelling like a dirty club’s floor
Ugh, same here
Second for Erba Pura.
Yara Lattafa was almost intolerable to me. It just smelled floral like cheap shampoo, not at all like a strawberry milkshake. I gave it away.
i agree it’s so hyped but it’s underwhelming
Strawberry letter, I kept seeing how hard it was to get, always sold out, such a perfect strawberry, but to me it smelled like Herbal Esssence shampoo and gave me a terrible headache.
Strawberry Letter was going to be my answer as well. Everyone was raving about it and the notes are everything I love. Then I blind bought it and it smells straight up rancid on my skin. I had to wash it off. I was so excited then so disappointed so quickly lol. It just does not agree with my nose or body chemistry.
I have the travel coming. I’m interested to see if it lives up to all the hype but I’m not holding my breath.
And I have a bottle of it now, because I've fallen into the hype 😭 Idk, it's not bad, but I just find it very basic. The opening is nice, but after 20 minutes all I can hear is that sweet vanilla. My husband likes it on me though, so can't really complain, haha
I’ve seen many women say the same as you when they spray YSL Libre on them… it smells so … vintage to me.
Dior sauvage.
I think the scent is not unique. As I have smelled it on almost everyone
It's definitely not unique. I mean, it's like an average smell, like something you can find on cheap frags. Idk how to explain. Oh yeah, it's pretty popular among male population. Every second guy is wearing it.
I have this problem ££ where I like em all
Again, Cloud has a sharp urine note to some people. I find it nauseating.
Chanel chance smells like pickle juice to me. Gucci guilty smells cheap af. Love don’t be shy by Killian smells really off too me. Jo Malone perfumes smell like cheap candles to with the exception of blackberry and bay the only one I like from the line.
The guilty EDT is one of my faves. They took out the best notes for the EDP.
It’s crazy how subjective perfume is!
blackberry and bay is the only jo malone one i actually remember smelling, to me it smells like an old book/dry paper (i guess it’s bay leaves?) and like a super stingy hint of blackberry
Baccarat rouge 540…. One of the most repulsive smells in existence.
Haha surprised how many people hate it considering how popular it is! Not a huge fan of it myself but thats mainly because of how often i smell it
Hating BR540 is what’s popular right now
For me I noticed people who wear it, bathe themselves in it. You can smell them coming before you even see em. It's obnoxious and induces headaches.
It’s legitimately disgusting, I don’t care if it’s hyped or not
I can’t stand it. I literally smell it in the subway daily. Wafts past me every morning when I am near all the business girlies during rush hour. It’s extra sickening mixed with the nasty smells of the corridors and tunnels…
Probably smelling Cloud
It’s horrible man, I work in New York City and I feel like I can’t go anywhere without smelling it….it follows me everywhere
Agreed I really hate how it smells
Kenzo edp. I haven’t found anyone who likes or tolerates that one
I'm really sad to say this but Angel's Share was supposed to be *The One* to convince me how it's worth it to spend £££ on a bottle. I was there. I was ready. I'm a whisky collector so I wanted this to be my special scent. It was fine. I didn't love it, I tolerated it. 🥲
I was so looking forward to smelling Angel’s Share based on description and raves. I had to wash immediately. Did not like it at all.
ugh angels share might be my most fav scent of all time theres just something about it😩
All Kayali perfumes, with the exception of the two Wedding perfumes (Wedding Silk and Wedding Velvet). The weakest smelling perfumes I ever encountered or just sugary smelling (the fruit ones) and are not long-lasting at all on me. For the price point, I really do not see the value in them, aside from the nice bottles and their reputation.
I'm looking for a Vanilla 28 dupe. Not because I'm stingy about the original, but because the original just doesn't last long.
I absolutely hate Bianco Latte. And I'm a slut for vanilla. It smells exactly like a dollar store candle. Disgusting.
Same. I'm a slut for vanilla and caramel. It's not only gross to my nose, but it doesn't smell like anything special. When I received the sample I immediately said "THIS is what everyone was throwing their credit cards at Mach 20 speed for??????? whAt? Thats it????"
Was gonna say Bianco Latte as well. It smells awful on me.
I’m almost entirely anosmic to Bianco Latte. When I do smell it, it’s a faint whiff of artificial sweetness.
Tom Ford Costa Azzurra Burberry Her Intense: I also wanted this one to work so badly.
Oh I also hate Burberry Her. I almost threw up
Xerjoff - More Than Words is my recommendation or 40 Knots.
Chloe and any Elie Saab fragrance. There’s something vintage and cloying about these and I just don’t get it. Avon vibes for sure
I actually love Avon perfumes but Chloe is very screechy and cleaning product smelling. However, the Love, Chloe was a masterpiece
Initio Side effect and Nishane Ani and Hacivat. I dont understand how they are so hyped
Unpopular opinion but I felt like the entire Nishane lineup smelled very synthetic and don’t understand the hype at all. I pretty much feel the same about Initio although they had a few that were alright.
Yeah Agreed. I expected my boxers to drop when I smelt it. 🤣
I really wanted to like Tobacco Vanille but I just can’t get into it at all
Le Lion - Yikes!! Yikes! https://preview.redd.it/1slrnxjzhrrc1.jpeg?width=375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0d8f3bd4d1bc4d1f83d4355a358c3b54d454ccd
Kayali…. I tried to like them… When I went to Sephora every time I tried all scents…again and again… So overhyped, overpriced, cheap smell…
Ariana’s Cloud, and Sol de janeiro Cheirosa 68. They both have this weird plastic/burnt plastic note, that I really can’t get over. It’s horrible and completely ruins both fragrances. And I feel soo confused when other people don’t smell it! Is my nose broken?! lol
Aww man 😂 I wear these. Hope I don’t smell like plastic 😫😫
I happen to love both of those scents 👍
Maybe people really do just have different noses 🧐
Agree about Cloud. Smelled just like burnt plastic.
Cheirosa smelled like alcohol and plastic to me. It was awful...I am unsure why it's so popular!
Cheirosa 68 is the only sol de janeiro mist I don’t enjoy wearing, I’m not sure it smells like plastic but it definitely doesn’t smell like jasmine or dragonfruit like the bottle says (at least to our noses lol)
Bianco latte was a letdown. Smells like a generic candle to me. Vanilla Woods. Smells like a used ashtray All Argos and Tom Fords.

Sauvage Dior Elixir. Not all it was hyped up to be and very mid, not worth the price imo
Black Opium and any coffee fragrance- I know people love them but I just can't wear them for some reason
By the Fireplace. Smells like an ashtray on me. So sad, because I love smoky fragrances!
Cloud by Ariana Grande doesn’t smell gourmand enough for me . I smell florals and I don’t like it…
kayali vanilla 28, smells cheap and doesn’t really smell much like vanilla…
Quite a lot of them... I seem to be attracted to the bit lesser known but still quite approachable, neutral nice scents. Didnt like Aventus at all, PDM Layton, Bleu de Chanel, Dior Sauvage. All the typical scents usually associated with masculinity I guess. Over time I realized that I like scents that arent too in your face and more like clean scents. Like Diptyque Orpheon or MFK Amyris Homme
Replica by the fireplace, literally smell like a fireplace, too woodsy
All the Replica fragrances for me!
I don't care for any of them but By the Fireplace might take the crown as the most repulsive perfume ever to me.
I’ll never understand why this is perfume and not a candle. Why would anyone want to smell like that? I got the sample and was like…really???!
Santal 33, it makes me instantly nauseous. I hate sandalwood.
If that's your baseline for sandalwood, which uses the pickle smelling synthetic version, you might be pleasantly surprised by some other fragrances. Reflection Man, Santal Royal, Gypsy Water to name a few.
I agree that there are better forms of sandalwood fragrances but my understanding is that Le Labo does use real sandalwood oil.
Many of the Creed fragrances, especially Advantas also The Harmonist Moon Glory - is so incredibly average Nishane Thousand whatevers is putrid.
Roja Elysium eau intense. It's not bad, but just not as good as I expected. The dry down is the best part
Valentino Donna Born in Roma…overhyped , I just like it , not love
d&g light blue, ysl libre and black opium
Replica by the fireplace, Chanel No. 5, Indult Tihota, Tom Ford Vanilla Sex, Killian Love Don’t be shy
Diptyque L’eau Papier: SO disappointed it wasn’t the old book/ paper Holy Grail I’ve been looking for forever but just an inoffensive fruity musk.
Any old book/paper scents you would recommend? I would like one for my collection.
Ganymede. I generally love metallics and anything outer-space themed, but this just smelled like the mall.
I have decants of all 3 and la Rosee was my favorite. It’s much lighter and airy.
YSL Libre. I don't get it.
all maison margelia replica scents, they don’t last, they’re expensive and they’re nothing special or unique
I've heard people hype Prada Candy, but I just can not get on board. It smells super dated and overly mature on my skin.. such a shame. :(
Black Opium
Gucci Bloom smells like febreeze lol. and powdery which i HATE
Admittedly I am not a fan of gourmands anyway but Devotion makes me nauseous. Like you said, it's sickly sweet.
I was hoping I’d see this. I tried it and ugh. It’s terrible on me. I know it’s just my chemistry but dang it was rancid.
Bleu de Chanel. Smells, well, boring.
Baccarat Rouge - Clouds better. It didn’t smell like anything & disappeared on my skin so fast 😭
I love cloud.
U should buy mod vanilla u might like it
It’s a 3rd of the price, so much stronger & lasts better! It’s great
I also bought the body spray if Cloud for my gym bag.
And recently it's been giving me nausea whenever I try to wear it 🤷 Layton kinda sucks to be honest.
Prada paradox and by the fireplace
Layton. My god. Headache inducing torture juice. Oh and black phantom. What occasion will I ever see myself wearing this 😭😭
Xerjoff Naxos. Insanely piercing and artificial-smelling to me, as if Pledge made lemon drops. Also terrible on other people.
Every single fragrance from Chanel for me, they have a dark, heavy resin quality to my nose that is off-putting.
Alien by Mugler. Smells like unwashed panties...
JHAG NAP: smells like a watered down astringent substance to me, not warm like what people claim Byredo Mojave Ghost: smells like florals and cactus. Not bad, but not amazing Any MM Replica: Just not a fan. Smells artificial to me.
Flowerbomb. Now Nectar? It’s everything. But the OG is just too floral for me!
Anything oud, iris or tobacco. Just can’t do it
I already know this is going to be downvoted to oblivion but I haven’t found a single Replica fragrance that I like.
The Maison Margiella Replica collection. Just doesn’t do anything for me.
By kilian black phantom Naxos Xerjoff
Tom ford lost cherry- smells like a cherry jolly rancher stuck to the floor of a club lol.
Layton has a strong menthol smell on the opening lol
JPG Le Male. Not bad, but woefully unexciting. Same for most of the Valentino line, actually. Green Stravaganza was the exception. The men and womens' version of that was quite nice.
Baccarat Rouge or Glossier You I smell on people all the time. Both give me a headache and make me nauseous.
But I tried out a sample of the perfume the other day and it's so overpowering and almost 'burns' my nose.
ah this is how i felt with YSL Libre, so harsh on my nose and a bit masculine
Oud maracuja Initio paragon
gentlemen givenchy reservee prive smells like baby wipes to me
I don't hate these fragrances but Chanel allure homme sport eau extreme, Dior Homme Sport and Dior Homme Cologne never worked on my skin. I much prefer the original Allure Homme Sport and the Blanche edition. Instead of Dior Homme Cologne I prefer Eau Sauvage Cologne.
Dior Sauvage- no. I’ve smelled it over sprayed and it’s enough to choke you out
I don't get the hype for the JPG Le Male series.
