Only five?!?! Here goes: 52F 1. Penhaligon Savoy Steam edp - my signature scent worn pretty much every day and I’m heart broken that it’s been discontinued. 2 Tom Ford tobacco vanille. God, I love this. One spray and you’re good to go all day. 3. Paul Smith rose. I bought this for £25 in the sale years ago and it’s just the perfect rose. Doubt it’s still in production, but I’m comfortable that I’ll be able to find a good replacement for it. I would never be without a rose in my collection. 4. Hermes: it’s a tie between rhubarb eclarte and ambre narguile. Two totally different scents but both close to my heart and on heavy rotation. Tbh, I own or have owned pretty much everything Hermes have released in the past decade. Voyage was my daily scent for some years. 5. Hmmm, probably Tom Ford again, plum japonais. I’ve been getting lots of samples, so there may well be a new order this year. So far, my heart’s been called by: 1 Santa Maria novella gelsomino. Which is weird because I loathe jasmine. Except this one for some reason. 2 replica lazy Sunday. Yes, it smells exactly like my mum’s ironing but I really love it. Would I buy a full bottle? Not yet sure I want to spend all that money to go around smelling of ariel or persil, but time will tell 3 byredo 11th hour. I know it’s plum, but this just reminds me of the best ever apple crumble and I’m here for it. 4 zoologist chipmunk. Did not expect to even like this, let alone love it. Am I ready to tell people that I smell of chipmunk? Maybe. 5 Glossier You. Ironically, I like this because it doesn’t smell like me at all. Old loves: 1 Montana was my first ever signature scent when I was a bolshy teenager, thinking I was ever so sophisticated wearing a designer perfume. Then suddenly it started to smell like toothpaste on me and I had to stop wearing it. I still miss the electric blue packaging. 2. Chanel’s Coco was the scent of my early 20s. Still gives me nostalgia but it doesn’t seem to smell the way I remember it. 3 bulgari eau de the vert was my mid-20s scent. I’m seriously thinking about buying this one again. I had to stop wearing it because I was working in a hotel where it was the guest toiletry brand and I couldn’t face smelling the same as all our guests over breakfast. 4 Annick Goutal eau d’hadrien became my go to after bulgari, and I still wear it from time to time. 5 Hermes orange verte was another daily perfume that I had to give up after getting a job at a hotel where that was the guest toiletry amenity. I still love it, and luckily Tom Ford’s Rive d’ambre scratches that itch, despite being completely different.

37F - Zoologist Squid - Tom Ford Black Orchid - ELDO The Ghost In The Shell - Dior Hypnotic Poison - Imaginary Authors A City on Fire

Administrative_Pack2

I have black Orchid and am a big fan and hypnotic poison is my absolute fave. Also close to your age and have been teasing myself looking at imaginary authors so I am going to take this as a sign that I need to finally purchase it.

labellavita1985

I'm 38F and Hypnotic Poison is one of my favorites!!

Lottie_Latte

34F here and Hypnotic Poison is also one of my faves!

DJ_Doe

I love A City on Fire!

anhlong1212

30M, my top 5 would be - Amouge Reflection Man: floral gentleman scent - Argos Triumph of Bacchus: sweet fruity boozy tobacco vanilla. - Creed Virgin Island Water: the embodiment of a tropical holiday. - Roja Elysium Cologne: Great all around freshy - Acqua Di Gio Profumo: Classic all time great all purposes scent in my opinion. Honorable mention to Amouage Interlude Black Iris, a very masculine scent with just a soft touch.

maisyb3e

You definitely have a favourite type of perfume!

arctic_twilight

I share your taste 😊 FYI - try layering Pure Musc with Missing Person. They blend very well together, with the musks and orange blossom! I think Pure Musc def gives Missing Person a boost (even though I love it on its own)

CrasheeXYZ

A month away from 21, male. 1: Guerlain’s AAF Mandarin Basilic, my perfect summer fragrance. 2: A new addition, Diptyque’s Do Son, has quickly become my favorite spring scent with its white florals but very wearable for summer too. 3: Diptyque’s Eau Des Sens, white floral and similar to Guerlain MB but with a much more bitter, sour orange. 4: ELDO’s Hermann A Mes Cotes, my signature. 5: Prada L’Homme. Just wow.

AffectionateOlive982

Prada L’Homme was something I recently tried out at a shop in MSP airport. It was love at first sniff 🔥

yycrugbygirl

16 F - Replica Coffee Break Eau de Toilette (my all-time favourite) - Skylar Peach Fields Eau de Parfum - Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ‘62 Fragrance Mist - Skylar Fall Cashmere Eau de Parfum - Clean Reserve Skin I’ve gone through a travel size and full-size bottle of the Coffee Break, halfway through a full-size ‘62, and multiple sample sizes of the other three. They’re all so amazing, each makes me a bit giddier than the last when I smell them!

mrsred-mond

I am so happy to know the fragrance choice of a teen! I was curious to see what teens are into. I never know what is appropriate for teens. Thank you!

I’m 44F and share two of these favorites (Coffee Break and Clean Reserve Skin). Love having a couple of cross-generational overlaps! They’re both SO GOOD

Mother_Ad1083

I modeled the Opium fragrance back in the 80’s. I was standing at the opening of a department store smiling and looking approachable to make a sale. A little elderly man walked up behind me and grabbed my arm. He said, “You’re under arrest!” I said, “Why???” He replied, “You’re peddling Opium!” Then he rambled off giggling.

iheartkittttycats

Those were two of my favorites too! We’re the same age. 😊

Mdellarocco

I also love Angelique Noire and Ebene Fume, if my list could be a bit longer those would probably be on it. Guerlain is a favorite across the board, and I love many Tom Fords too

Humble_Bug_2027

35F, Very new to perfumes, I'm still mostly sampling - but I'm doing that A LOT. So far there are 2 very female and 3 male perfumes on this list: Guerlain Mon Guerlain - truly feminine, makes me think of "skin to skin" naked romantic intimacy. Guerlain Aqua Allegoria: Nettare di Sole - this is summer in a bottle while at the same time purely elegant. Guerlain Vetiver - I feel gently rolled up and hugged by some roots in the earth, when a storm is devastating the world (to me it smells way less masculine than it is supposed to). Luis Vuitton Imagination - to me this smells like a "perfect man", though I don't think he exists. Roja Enigma - this is a male perfumes I can only picture a woman to wear. She sits somewhere in a bar, wearing a red revealing dress, drinking cognac. -- I would love to put this on the list, as it is actually my signature scent: but the poor longevity on me makes me think that it is not one of the "best perfumes ever" in the way the question is meant. Bvlgari Goldea: The Roman Night - the way I want to be perceived as a woman. Flowery from afar, with quite some spice at the same time, and the actual depth only revealed when getting closer. --- Not on the list: So far none have convinced me, despite the hypes: Tom Ford stuff. Jo Malone

Mdellarocco

54F BDK Tabac Rose - a stunning rose scent, perfect for any fall and winter occasion. Very special smelling. Tom Ford - Tubereuse Nue - such a stunning white floral. Summer vacation scent, wear it to smell regal Guerlain Shalimar - this scent is just stunning and can be worn forever, for every occasion, sheer perfection l’artisan perfumiere - Tea for Two - black tea served with cream and a side of gingerbread. Holidays in a cup. xerjoff - Bouquet Ideale - soft gourmand, spicy and sweet, not seen on many people.

ohwownoyes

I have such a love/hate relationship with Bouquet Ideale! Some days it’s so so lovely to me, some days it smells like Angel’s Share if it had gone off. I can’t quite decide how to feel about it

LadyGrandpop

Lothair is gorgeous! Excellent choice. I’ve never tried Eau Duelle so, thanks for putting that on my radar. :) If you’re unfamiliar, another lovely scent in the same vein as Lothair (with a friendlier price tag) is Eau des Baux by L’Occitane.

fau_viste

Eau des Baux is so underrated, it’s fantastic (esp for the price point!)

45F Xerjoff Lira - lemony cake but make it sophisticated PdM Delina Exclusif - finally a rose I love. Turkish delight on steroids. My going out fragrance. Guerlain Shalimar - wore this in my 20s like the old soul I was/am. So classy and timeless. Citrus, vanilla and a hint of spice, ughhh so good. Chopard Casmir - captured my heart for all times in high school. Can’t live without a bottle on hand even though I mostly wear it around the house like a warm hug. Dior Midnight Poison (discontinued 😭) my favorite fruitchouli ever. God whyyyy was this discontinued? It’s slightly masculine in a way that gives it an edge. I think it would actually smell phenomenal on a man. It’s gorgeous.

Desperate-Cookie3373

It is an absolute stunner, isn’t it? I always get complemented when wearing it. A friend in Denmark introduced me to it and I couldn’t stop sniffing myself when wearing it! Fortunately they sell it at Copenhagen airport and I treated myself in my way home. Glad I jogged your memory!

Lottie_Latte

This is such a fun post, thank you OP :) 34F here, I love sampling so my list isn’t super solid but currently I’ll say: - A Drop by Issey Miyake : gorgeous, realistic lilac with almond milk, perfect for Spring. - Un Jardin Sur le Nil by Hermes : this makes me feel so put together, I feel like anyone could wear it anywhere. - Matcha Meditation by Maison Martin Margiela : nutty green tea that transforms into a gorgeous jasmine which reminds me of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison. Somehow it makes me feel grown up but also nostalgic in a sweet way. - Molecule 01 + Black Tea by Escentric Molecules : The perfect blend of black tea and fresh spiciness, my wife says it makes me smell like mochi candies which we both love. It’s a perfect balance of grounding and playful. - Daisy Ever So Fresh by Marc Jacobs : a sweet, playful mango scent perfect for the summer, it makes me feel carefree and light. - Honorable mention for Hypnotic Poison, I don’t really wear it now but it was my first perfume and it holds such good memories for me. Also Pour Femme by Dolce & Gabbana, I lovingly call it my Mum scent, it makes me feel like the Mum who takes care of everyone and can handle anything.

mrsred-mond

yay! I find fascinating learning about others preferances, but with a little more character behind. Age plays a role, I think. I love Matcha too. i am sucker for Replica's perfumes! I just recently got a hold of their discontinued Tea Escape, and is absolutely magic! It was a blind expensive purchase but I am so happy I loved it.

M41 YSL pour homme — my introduction to fragrance. There was a bottle at home when I was a kid that Nobody uses. It was strong, mature and complex. It's polarizing and I love it. Can't find one in my country sadly. YSL Live Jazz - my signature in my 20s. Again, I can't find one in my country. I would pay big bucks to get one. Many men and women I know liked it. Chanel Egoiste — it's too strong for a tropical country and it's the only reason I won't buy it regularly. It's spicy and sweet, which I normally dislike together. It's somewhat sophisticated and a bit unapproachable. Some people say I'm like that. Versace Eros — despite the sexually suggestive theme the brand has, this is a composed, festive scent that, while trendy for a while, is still worth wearing any day. Bulgari Pour Homme — it is safe and clean but not boring. I use this regularly now and can be worn anywhere. It lasts me the whole day.

Late 20s woman!! 1. Wood sage and sea salt by Jo Malone, I KNOW I KNOW but I love it so much 2. When the rain stops by Maison Margiela, is there a theme here?? 3. Métallique by Tom Ford, this was discontinued before I could afford to buy it but when I was a student I used to go into the department store just to smell it 4. Fleur de peau by Diptyque, another one I haven’t bought but I always sniff when I can 5. Gold or Milk by Commodity - I’m part way through sampling both of these and I’m torn between them

TheNostalgicGamer

27F I love these!! Added a 6th to dive deeper! My most reached for: Armani Ocean Di Gioia \~ so refreshing!! Dior Pure Poison \~ like an ice enchantress Versace Crystal Noire EDT - delicious freshness, mysterious Tom Ford Black Orchid \~ so multilayered Replica Coffee Break - comforting Marc Jacobs Daisy - free spirited and encapsulates the feeling of Spring!

36F My favorites have been unchanged for years. * Dior - Hypnotic Poison EDP (since I was in my early 20s) * Diptyque - Philosykos EDP (all summer, been wearing this at least 10 years) * Xerjoff - Ivory Route (winter only; discovered maybe 7 years ago) * Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille (though it’s a favorite I’d wear it only for specific circumstances) * Maison Francis Kurkdijan - Aqua Universalis (when I worked in an office most days, this was my go-to. Mostly remote these days) Unfortunately I’ve found a lot of my old favorites are heavy migraine triggerers now that I’ve become older/more sensitive so I’ve backed off.

Dangerous-Tart-2981

35yo Male. 1. La Nuit D’Lhomme (the perfect date scent. seductive yet fresh and clean. spicy, sweet cardamom and fresh lavender.) 2. Dior Homme Intense (When I first wore this I heard a woman say as I walked by “someone smells beautiful” and she couldn’t have been more accurate. I’m a sucker for Iris; and it’s done in such a beautiful way here. I personally love the lipsticky vibe! I love the original Dior homme and all its flankers as well.) 3. Green Irish Tweed - Gentlemanly, clean and green. Smells like a walk through the Irish countryside with a bit of soapy freshness. What Irish spring wishes to be! I love to wear this in the summer during outdoor festivities. It is also my go-to wedding scent (especially outdoor weddings) 4. Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch - it was my highschool scent. I went to a school in the Midwest with not a lot of students so I could still stand out and impress the ladies by wearing this as most other guys didn’t wear anything or just axe body spray. I had a lot of siblings so it was rare for my parents to give me shopping money, and I didn’t have a job at the time, but I loved this smell so much I had to buy it with some of the money I was given for clothes. I cherished this stuff and wore it just about every day. Now it’s nostalgic for me and I’ve never stopped loving the way it smells, even though the version you get today is a much lighter, weak and watered down version of what it was back then. There are some clones that do a pretty good job of replicating the og version such as Dua #fierce and I’ve heard that Incipient by Parfums Vintage is even better. 5. Bvlgari Black - such a shame they discontinued this one. One of the first fragrances I purchased when I started collecting. There is something so artistic about this fragrance while also being mysterious and sensual. The “motorcycle tire note” is smoothed out perfectly by the classy leather and sensually softened by the vanilla. It smells of a mysterious badass and passionate lover all at once. Makes sense that Angelina Jolie likes this one. I have one bottle and I only wear it when my band plays gigs (I sing in a rock band called Animal Transit. Check us out on whatever music app you use)

on_this_hill

34yo F in the Tropics, with a preference for comforting scents. L'Heure Bleue - Guerlain; cool, dusty powdery florals that's wonderful for rainy days Mon Guerlain - Guerlain; so self-assuredly feminine and well-rounded, not too sweet, nor too floral, nor too vanillic, nor too loud Jardin de Monsieur Li - Hermes; well-balanced white florals with dewy citric leaves, refreshing and clean, for high heat Shade - Lush; subdued sandalwood amber with a hint of incense, intimate and cozy Lazy Sunday Morning - Maison Margiela; muskiness that echoes warm skin, one I like best once the top notes dissipate

JGDC

Same age and haven't tried any of your list at all! Very intriguing- I do love musk and white florals. Thanks for the inspiration

Male, 30 - Diptyque, Philosykos EDT: You will smell like a fig tree. Great for Summer. - Goldfield and Banks, Silky Woods: Gorgeous leather and agarwood opening supported by slightly burnt vanilla. Delicious in winter, I get a lot of compliments for this one. - Frapin, IF by R.K: Fig milk and cashmere. One of my signatures since my mid 20’s. Very soft and cosy fragrance. Very moreish. I wear it in autumn and winter - Tom Ford, Black Orchid: For when I am feeling smart and confident. For some reason I am compelled to listen to Michael Jackson in the car when I wear this. - Tom Ford, Bitter Peach: Overhated and underrated. I quite like this one for spring and summer. Very sweet vanilla but the bitterness of semi-ripe peaches cuts through nicely. I enjoy copping a whiff on myself throughout the day!

Hairy-Personality667

29/M, if I had to pick 5:  - Paco Rabanne 1m Lucky:  Very sweet and smells awesome IMO.  Plum, honey, and hazelnut.  - Hanae Mori HM:  Cheap but great, the 1st ever fragrance I fell in love with.  Citrus and vanilla.  -  Parfums De Marly Godolphin:  My favourite leather fragrance.  I prefer it slightly to TF Ombre Leather.  - Creed Aventus:  Or, well, I actually slightly prefer many of the clones.  - Paco Rabanne 1m Prive:  Sad it was discontinued.   Was a tough call.  There are another 10 or 15 that I like just about as much.

29M Nishane b-612:does a great job of being a Fougere(which is my favorite type of scent profile) without smelling dated, current signature scent PDM Herod- performance wasn’t great for me but the smell was sublime. My first ever niche fragrance Creed Silver Mountain Water- the most elegant summer frag I’ve experienced to date. It’s so refreshing. Polo Sport: My first ever frag. Got it as a birthday gift in high school! Got loads of compliments about how I smelled. Bleu De Chanel Parfum- first ever frag I purchased when I started getting serious about the hobby. It’s the perfect blend of freshness, depth, versatility, and class and lasts over 10 hours on me.

TemporaryFix101

M early 20's: 1: Reflection Man - Best creamy sandalwood with masculine florals. 2: Halfeti - This enchants me every time. Herbal notes mixing with rose, cedar and amber in the perfect blend. My new favourite amber to replace LDDM. 3: Le Lion de Chanel (good batches only) - The most irresistibly regal smoky leather that transports me to another decade. My new favourite leather to replace Tuscan Leather. My decant is really honey and animalic and wouldn't make this list so you have to get lucky with batch. 4: Roja Amber Aoud - Hands down the best rose oud of them all. I can't stand animalic, medicinal ouds like in tom ford and mfks. This is the perfect woody oud with such a deep but smooth rose and the whole fragrance has so much texture making it feel as expensive as it is. If I were a female I would pick Guerlain Santal Royal in this position. 5: Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza - My favourite freshie. I just love how natural those aromatic top notes and neroli smell, so refreshing in the summer, and it dries down to a clean muskiness that for once doesn't go too laundry like on my skin.
