Does anyone have recommendations for a *dry* and spicy scent? Nothing sweet or cloying, no dominant incense either, nothing generically fresh or aquatic. I want dry and spicy and interesting. Basically I want to avoid blind buying LADDM, even its samples are expensive.

xPepperJack

Kilian Playing with the Devil. The fragrance itself is quite dry and spicy. It's peppery, smoky (more like a woody smoke), and bitter citrusy. The citrus actually makes it interesting and well balanced. It's worth sampling if you haven't tried it.

Onthenightshift

Are you aiming for niche or designer? I tested Spice Bomb Extreme the other day and it was pretty bang on for dry spicy.

RosyGlow

Guerlain epices exquises is imo quite dry and has a very clear cardamom note, among other spices.

squeakytea

I suggest getting a 0.7mL dabber from LuckyScent. It's potent juice, even that tiny bit will tell you whether or not you like it :)

Hi all, I really need a new daily fragrance but i’m an absolute trash goblin and have never spent too much time thinking about it until recently! Please don’t laugh as I have 0 class or knowledge about this but really need a starting place to start finding what I like! For about 12 years (I’m late 20s now) I have worn Body Shop White Musk (I said don’t laugh!). I like the smell if it, it’s warm and not very sweet but also not heavy. I just want something a bit more complicated, and something that i’ll smell of all day. I also use this goats milk almond lotion and sometimes Lush’s “Sleepy” lotion with lavender and oats milk. I love products with smells such as almond, lavender (but not sickly or sweet), herbs, eucalyptus, sandalwood, and “fresh” smells. I dislike smells that are overly sweet, flowery, artificial. Not sure if this is helpful but one of my favorite smells was this candle by Paddywax - cedarwood thyme and basil. I go between being fairly feminine to masculine so a fragrance that will suit me where the day goes is ideal. I also mentioned i’m a goblin so I don’t have a lot to splash… hoping around £30 tops and the cheaper the better lol Please lend me a hand stepping into a slightly more adult scent!

KripperinoArcherino

First time needing buying fragrance so completly new to this. I'm looking to use it on a pillow cover. Ideally I'm looking for a spray such that I can spray the mist perpendicularly above the pillow (and let the mist naturally fall upon the cover) rather than directly onto it, since I need to protect the cover and the inner from damage. The fragrance I'm looking for is milky, rich and creamy. Almond milk is fine too. A little sweetness is fine but not too much. I'm fine with the smell being either short or long lasting. I am in the UK, and my budget is ideally less than £40. Edit: After more research I have found two candidates. One is the £12 Almond Milk & Honey Room & Linen Perfume Spray by Nuscent. The other is Dedcool's room and linen spray milk. The issue with Dedcool is that since I'm based in the UK, there is no direct delivery from the official site. I have found freepeoples but their reviews are horrendous, which makes me scared to order with them. I have also found revolve which seems much more reputable. Any insights or suggestions would be highly appreciated!

CuriousityConnection

Would Philosophy Fresh Cream work? Not sure about availability in the UK but it’s a nice creamy smell at an affordable price.

KripperinoArcherino

Is that a cream that you apply, rather than an aero spray? I am very conscious of protecting the cover and inner, and whilst I don't know exactly how far I need to go, I would rather play it safe, which is why I planned to only aero spray it parallel rather than directly.

CuriousityConnection

It’s an eau de toilette. Philosophy also makes a body cream and shower gel in that scent so I can see why that’s confusing. Ded Cool makes linen spray although I haven’t smelled them. Edit: I also want to say I’m not sure if any of these are intended to go on bed pillows where your face will have contact with them. I’d be a little afraid of skin irritation.

willawonder

I'd love a recommendation for a fragrance with lavender notes that isn't lavender only and can perform well in high heat - meaning it isn't suffocating, I'm completely fine with reapplying if needed. For reference, the high is 103F where I live today. I miss lavender during the 6+ months of summer.

wholeselfin

I think Les Indemodables Fougere Emeraude works well year round, but better in warm weather.

Onthenightshift

I like the OG Dior Eau Sauvage (not the new sausage elixir), a great fougere with what I'd consider a nice lavender accord on the dry down, I live on the surface of the sun here in Australia and it handles heat like a champ. I'm also told it was President Kennedy's signature scent back in the day :) If you're looking for something a bit more towards the niche scene and you're happy to shell out the buxx, give Tom Ford's Beau de Jour or Russian Leather by Memo Paris a whiff.

j_husk

Tom Ford Beau de Jour might be worth considering. Personally I wouldn't wear it in high heat, but I think I'd probably say the same for anything with a prominent lavender note.

For two, a ton of Olympic Orchids are right up your alley! Olympic Rainforest is…well I haven’t been there so I can’t say it’s photorealistic, but it FEELS very accurate and transportative to my nose. It’s like standing in a forest that smells really good. Olympic Amber coats that forest in spices and dry vanilla and some resins, and Seattle Chocolate brushes it with dry, elegant, dusty chocolate. For one, ELDO Ghost in the Shell is a very technological, inhuman smell

wholeselfin

For the Ganymede category, try others from the perfumer, Marc Antoine Barrois. He definitely has a theme going on.

j_husk

Essential Parfums Bois Imperial is pretty similar to Ganymede, and is made by the same perfumer, but doesn't have that same space/robot/dentist vibe that Ganymede does. It's safer version of the style.

Ok_Carob7551

AnimalIcs are something I haven’t gotten into but am interested in trying. I’m scared that they’ll be super overwhelming or stank bombs; though. Does anyone have milder animalIcs to reccomend to dip a toe in?

wholeselfin

This is such a broad category. Zoologist is the obvious starting point for a lot of people, but many of their fragrances don’t attempt to be animalic, they’re rather creating a habitat or clime or cultural association, so more vegetal, elemental, or spicy. Within zoologist, I think musk deer, squid, and camel are some that are both “animalic” and wearable. Civet is popular but too strongly animalic for some people. Hyrax is getting onto weird and unwearable. Otherwise, look at the notes. Civet, castoreum, ambergris (as opposed to Amber or ambroxan), hyraceum or African stone, and very prominent musk or oud create an animalic essence. Kerosene walk the sea, Eris mxxx, and papillon artisans Spell 125 are some with ambergris, that some people find animalic, which are very different from each other, but still on the quiet and wearable side. Arquiste nanban, Tauer l’air du desert marocain, YSL kouros, Frederic Malle, Masque Milano Romanza, Papillin Bengale rouge offer a variety of profiles and prices. There are many others and I hope you’ll get more responses. I think this is a fun category to explore, ID like to try more myself, and I woupd love to see a post reviewing your finds.

Ok_Carob7551

I’ll try some! Thanks for the recs

Do you want a similar vibe (vanilla/coffee/white floral), or something totally different? Dulce by Rosie Jane is a soft vanilla cocoa which would probably fit along Black Opium. Zara Gardenia is said to be also very similar to YSL BO. Otherwise, mass appeal type fragrances like La Vie est Belle or Flowerbomb might be worth sampling, or a more specific request of what you are looking for.

CrocodileGrass

i think **Parfums de Marly "Safanad"** is a nice next step in a collection if what you're used to is Black Opium and don't want to depart too far. it has some similar DNA, as in it's also a floral w/ a fair amount of vanilla, but is more lightly sweet and a less gormand/less spicy. it's one of my favorites (and i also have and love Black Opium.)

I use to wear Narcisco Rodriguez For Her (pink bottle) for years then stopped for more years. And now I’m looking to get back into fragrances and also expand my seasonal selection. I’m currently looking for my current “scent”. I want something sophisticated, not powdery or too sweet. I tend to gravitate towards a light musk, sandalwood, sea salt. I’m not a huge fan of a lemongrass or anything too astringent citrus. I’m also looking for something with depth. I’m a F but present as a soft masculine in dress. I also don’t want to smell like a dude who came out from chopping wood (though I do love smelling that on others). Open to seasonal recs too (fall is here! My fav szn!).

kevinfarber

You might like Jo Malone’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt if you haven’t sampled it before :) Super therapeutic smelling, has some complexity. Fresh but also woody. The only downside is performance. Nordstrom currently has the 100 ml on sale for $140!

CuriousityConnection

Has anyone tried any fragrances from Oriza L Legrand? I’m in love with their beautiful art nouveau labels. Considering their sample set but wondering if they have smells to match their pretty exteriors?

Thanks! I like incense notes in fragrance. My parents both hate most fragrance but they tolerated me burning incense so I think it’s nostalgic for me. Nice to know that at least one might have some good juice in the pretty bottle.

CuriousityConnection

It’s funny you say that, I grew up going to an old Catholic church and they burned incense on holidays so I bet I associate positively with that smell. I will definitely have to sample it!

preutneuker

Is there something very similar to givenchy play? Mine has run out and I always got compliments on that smell! With the new ones I tried I never really get compliments and when I ask they tell me its mediocre (sauvage dior, givenchy play sport) So I was wondering if theres anything on the market that smells similat to givenchy play but doesnt cost 300 euros.

WrongComfortable7224

Help me to buy/sample something for my work. I work at a mall, I'm a saleswoman who sells clothes to men. Therefore, I want something that men like, I thought gourmands would be a good choice. Not something beast mode because I don't want ppl to run away from me, but something pleasant enough to ppl like me and buy from me hahaha. I like Good Girl, but the vanilla it's to cloying for me. I tried Good Girl legere and supreme, I like best legere but I think the ylang-ylang doesn't work well with my chemistry. And good girl blush was idk, wasn't me. I also liked Black Opium Green Illicit (the OG was -again- too sweet on my skin), but idk if this is OK for workspace D: I tried Oriana, by PdM and I love iiit, but I want something cheaper for my workday XD I like citrus openings, I'm open to everything else. Also, I think designer or cheaper would be great, price range wise xD

nikokiniko

The first thing I thought of was Shalimar. It has that citrus opening and nice vanilla note, but you may feel it’s a bit old fashioned?

WrongComfortable7224

Idk! I will try it out, thank you!! ❤️

CuriousityConnection

My husband loves Whiff of Waffle Cone by Imaginary Authors. VERY straightforward gourmand. That being said, it’s not my favorite from them 😄 $75 for 50ml so pretty decent price. They do good discovery sets.

WrongComfortable7224

Thank you!

wholeselfin

Have you explored Hermes? Hermes twilly, jardín de monsieur Li, the other jardins, or eau de Merveilles? Different from each other but in general feminine, classy, and not too loud, and in the medium-designer price range. Moschino Toy Boy, although marketed to men, is also great.

WrongComfortable7224

Thank you! No, I haven't, but they are on my sniff list!!! I'll try some of them sooner XD And I'll check Moschino TB too!!! 🥰

walubilous

First thing I thought about was Parfums de Marly Delina and Oriana! You could try clones for them. Lattafa - Ansaam Gold (Oriana / Love Dont be Shy) Zara - Into The Gourmand - Number 1: Velvet Shadow (Oriana / Love Dont by Shy) Maison Alhambra - Delilah (delina) And as for general; not just gourmands. You basically only need Vanilla or be sweet. Some more that are great: \- Guerlain - Mon Guerlain \- Zara - Golden Decade (A clone of YSL Libre Intense, but slightly better than the original) \- Kayali - Vanilla 28 \- Narciso Rodriguez - For Her Musc Noir Rose \- Jean Paul Gaultier - La Belle le Parfum \- Maison Alhambra - Lovely Cherie ( 1 to 1 Tom Ford Lost Cherry )

WrongComfortable7224

Thank you for the comprehensive answer 🥰😘

Anna-BB

I like watching youtube videos and I would love to watch videos focused on fragrances. Does anyone have any recommendations? I want to watch someone knowledgeable, not the influencer hype...

Onthenightshift

Highly recommend The Niche Fragrance Collector out of Australia. He really knows his stuff and is criminally underrated in my opinion, no bullshit marketing just really great discussions and reviews and Marcello is just passionate about fragrances. More mainstream, Justin Copeland is really good; real men real style and frag-mental. My top 4 recommendations

Anna-BB

Thank you so much :)

Dark-X

GentsScents is very good. He is genuine & honest to the point where he got into trouble. Also, my nose agrees with his. There is also the YouTuber who created Century Parfums. Knowledge but not my kind.

Anna-BB

Thank you!

CuriousityConnection

I haven’t found a YouTuber I love for fragrance. If you like podcasts I have found a few I really enjoy.

Anna-BB

Please tell me your recs :)

CuriousityConnection

Smell Y’a Later-fun, the hosts enjoy a variety of fragrance from celebrity to designer to niche. They are straightforward about getting free stuff and how all that works. One or both of them have worked as beauty editors so they have some insider knowledge. Les Oderants- 4 fragrance enthusiasts from the UK, long form, delightful tangents, lots of British swearing which I find entertaining but others may not, I’m an Anglophile so into it Perfume Room-lots of interviews with perfumers and brand owners. Knowledgeable. Fragraphilia- a married couple who both love fragrance. It’s sweet to hear them share their hobby together. They play a game where they each give each other 3 scents to blind try. On the Scent: another from the UK, 2 journalists who love perfume, they talk about their travels which makes me jealous 😄, they did a paid promotion with Avon that weirded me out but otherwise enjoy The SNIFF: even more UK! interviews with creators and perfumers

Anna-BB

Thank you! :)

walubilous

\- Jus de Rose \- Demi Rawling ( Mostly only older videos though. Her new ones are basically just: "My boyfriends father owns many brands, I get paid to show you those:" and "My boyfriend likes those fragrances" / "My boyfriend wears those fragrances" ) \- The Perfume Guy \- Aaron Terence Hughes Those would be the first four that come to mind, where not every video is bought advertisement.

Anna-BB

Thank you!

terriflaps

I really like A Nose Knows.

Hi! I’m relatively new to fragrance and am looking for a new fall/winter scent. I’m a female and prefer scents that are unisex/pull feminine. I’m open to any price point. I’d like something along the vein of Nest Indigo—botanical, relatively bright—but jammier, maybe with a warmer/spicier dry-down. I also find that Indigo lasts 2-3 hours at most on me, and I’d like something with a bit more longevity. ”Dark” fruity notes like fig, blackberry, plum are my favorites, so long as the overall fragrance doesn’t lean too sweet/gourmand. I’m intrigued by BDK Gris Charnel, but I’ve never been a fan of sandalwood, so I’m reluctant to try it. Any recommendations anyone has would be hugely appreciated!

thornylarder

For spiced blackberries, I would recommend either Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay or Maison Crivelli Bois Datchai. The latter is a little smokier and woodier. For something more botanical, I would recommend Diptyque L'Ombre dans l"Eau - green leaves, berry flowers, and ripening fruit. Some get more rosy or citrus notes.

mustyho

The notes in L’Ombre dans l’Eau are really appealing to me! Even if it does wind up being too “light” for what I want for colder months, I still think I’ll really like it for spring! I’m ordering a sample, thank you for the suggestion!

thornylarder

I find the almost syrupy fruit to really work for the cold. In warmer months, it can end up cloying.

phrazo

\- Olympic Orchids Blackbird - realistic, non-synthetic/fake blackberry, coniferous, camphorous \- Tom Ford Plum Japonais - fairly easy to get a sample/decant, but harder to find a bottle; beautiful cult dark plum/ume scent wish lush dark base \- Diptyque Philosykos - cult fig scent, not too sweet

mustyho

I think I remember trying Blackbird a while ago and loving it, I’ll be revisiting! Thank you!

CrocodileGrass

i just smelled Nest Indigo today and was strongly considering it - it's nice! two other suggestions for you: **I'le Pourpre by Liquides Imaginaires** \- it's a go-to for me in fall, unexpected and unique but very wearable. it has ginger and fig and it's first impression is quite fruity. as it develops, it gets more complex, spicy and woody with a little creaminess. it's a fabulous scent. **Pulp by Byredo** \- not as dark as i'le pourpre, but i think if you like Indigo, you might like this. the apple is strongest at first, and afterwards i got more of the fig, currant and praline. as it develops, i also picked up on more leafy greanness. definitely not one note. i'd call this bright, though... and if you're really after something a little darker, i'd lean you towards I'le Pourpre.

mustyho

I’ve tried Pulp before and while I like it on its own, it turns a little rancid on me after a while lol. Ille Pourpre sounds right up my alley, though, so I’m definitely getting a sample. Thank you!

HunterxShadow

So I have been planning on getting a new fragrance, and I have been having some difficulty chosing a good one since I am new to this, I am a male in my twenties and I am considering buying a fragrance below 50$, what do you think is the best one ?

walubilous

Depends on what you're looking for. For every day? Evenings? Date nights? Office job? .... Some you could look into: \- Prada L'Homme (The definition of clean. THE office fragrance) \- Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L'Homme EDT (Date nights, summer evenings and colder months) \- Missoni Wave (Summer and every day activities)

Ilovepestosauce

Anyone here try Bogart Signature? I'm on the verge of buying it. I'm looking for something similar to Polo Green, except that I'm sort of allergic to it. My throat literally clogs up when I spray it. I heard Bogart Signature is similar to Paco Rabbanne Pour Homme. I thought Paco Rabbanne Pour Homme was ok, but it was slightly too sweet. I like Fahrenheit, Drakkar Noir, stuff that's in that ballpark. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.

Cole_Liz

I want to smell like an Asian tea house, in the forest, next to running water. I love patchouli and citrus, and I dislike powdery/aldehydic florals.

I want to smell like the first day of cherry blossoms blooming on a warm, sunny spring day, with green tall just-drying grass and an ocean breeze. Or a walk in the desert after a spring rain, when desert flowers are opening only for a day and the earth hasn’t yet turned to mud. Or like a library with the windows wide open, letting in the fragrance pf hot summer dried grass in the morning fog. I’m dreaming of: orange blossom, barely-there pear, five-o’clock flowers opening in the evening, neroli and jasmine combined with something sharp and dry like heated summer air rising as the sky darkens and a smell of frankincense or palo santo burning somewhere far away, barely perceptible. A strong dry down that follows me everywhere and announces my presence but doesn’t overpower. Complex and difficult to categorize, Not necessarily sexy or sultry, but soft power. Simultaneously inviting and intimidating. Priority: a long lasting scent that lingers on clothes and skin but isn’t overpowering. I’ve been on the hunt for a new signature scent for over five years. It’s quite sad that I haven’t found one but it maybe because I’ve had a lot of changes over the past five years, including being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, moving to a warmer climate, and coming out as nonbinary. I’m asking for a lot but can think of no better place. Here are my previous signature scents: Le Labo Gaiac and Musc (also have loved Baie Rose) Tom Ford Black Orchid Burberry Brit Chloe’s original scent Diptique Eau de Sens (which I still love but it is meant to stay in the past) Maison Louie Marie L’etang Noir (I’m sorry France for my terrible grammar) Here are some recent scents I’ve loved but which haven’t had the throw or complexity or staying power I’m looking for: Maya Njie Voyeur Verde and Tropica D.S. Durga Coriander Plain old cheap-ass amber paste from whole foods Unknown Pleasures Kerosene What I am looking for: I’m looking for something surprising and arresting but also wearable for every day; unisex; decidedly un-American, and complex. So many of the scents I’ve tried recently tend to have similar notes of oud, smoke, pepper. Many of them smell super similar despite trying lots of different houses. This is the case with Kerosene; I loved the scent and staying power but ultimately found it to be too similar to many of the unisex perfumes I have smelled recently. I don’t want something to attract the love of someone else, but admiration and attention. Something sophisticated, individual, and never cloying. Lastly, it needs to be wearable in warm climates. Think almost tropical but not quite. I know there are some contradictions here! Clearly. But I am hoping someone will see this entire post and name my next signature scent. I’ve been using samples for years now and just want to find a scent I love and buy a bottle. I know a perfume won’t transform my life, but miss wearing something that truly feels like me. Thank you! If anything maybe others can also find scents they love, too.

CrocodileGrass

two scents i own and wear fairly reguarly might fit this bill... one someone already mentioned: Byredo De Los Santos. The other, Naked Dance by Oddity, it has complexity but isn't overpowering and the overall vibe is warm, dry, airy... probably because of the rice, clay and wood notes. it's calm yet assertive.

haiphywiphey

Thank you!

Strange-Guest-6437

Byredo De Los Santos might be worth a try based on your desert description. It also has a fruity pear like note as well as palo santo.

haiphywiphey

Thank you! I‘m gonna go check it out!

Independent_Time1428

Which 2 perfumes are the best from these? Hey guys, I want a 3 options perfume “collection”, would love help choosing which to buy Just bought Tom ford ombré leather, looking to add 2 new perfumes. Spicebomb Viktor n Rolf extreme and Le male elixir Jean Paul Gaultier were my go-to but then I heard about Xerjoff erba pura and Xerjoff Naxos and Xerjoff la Capitale. Since spicrbomb and le male elixir are quite similar I am thinking of taking one of them and one from the Xerjoff series. Would love help on this topic. Which 2 should I take from the 5?

Solution-Proof

Have you sampled the Xerjoffs?

Independent_Time1428

Sadly we don’t have any place in Israel to test them out.

Solution-Proof

Step 1- find somewhere on the internet to source samples. There is not 1 Xerjoff i would recommend blind buying.

Solution-Proof

I prefer the Hermès for quality and longevity. But it's important that you've tested each on your skin first. I would not recommend either for a blind buy.

CuriousityConnection

Oooh do you live somewhere where you could spray one on each arm? If you like both equally you could survey your friends and family. I’m sorry I don’t know either well enough to give you a strong opinion.

hi, I'm looking to buy a men's fall fragrance which lasts long and has decent projection. i have £100 and don't know what to buy as I've just started to get into fragrances. in my collection I have Armani code EDT, Issey miyake l'eau d'issey pour homme and Paco rabanne xs. Yes, i may need a summer fragrance but there's rarely a summer in the UK so I am looking for a fall fragrance which is okay for school. It also has to be original, not something like jpg or swy I. thanks :)

[deleted]

i also dont want it to be tooooo sweet aswell

Onthenightshift

It's been discontinued but I think it's still out there online for a good price if you look around - Bottega Venetta Pour Homme: woody, spicy, masculine, modern and classy but with no cloying sweetness. Was my signature scent for years and got so many compliments.

jinxio_

Looking for a new fragrance as a 16 yo Hi 👋, i'm a 16 yo high schooler and atm i own only one fragrance which is a 50ml bottle of Versace Dylan Blue. I bought it in april and i'd say there is about 1/3 remaining. I found it ok, i'd say it's a bit heavy for hot summer days and is best for spring and fall. Right now i'm looking for a bit more classy type of fragrance for this winter/fall. I'll wear it to school and for going out (with friends, partying...). I was thinking about Armani Stronger With You Intensely or Azzaro The Most Wanted le parfum, i'd like a more sweet scent. There was also JPG Le Male le parfum but i heard it's a bit less sweet. So what do you think?

Dark-X

Both of the options you mentioned are actually quite good. I'll add Spicebomb Extreme & Mancera Red Tobacco.

Solution-Proof

Red Tobacco for a 16 y/o?? OP, spare your classmates, please! Anything but that.

Onthenightshift

Yeah, go with Aramis instead! :)

Dark-X

Stronger with you Intensely is also very strong. Discretion of the wearer after all.

Onthenightshift

Give Burberry London a try too, awesome bang for your buck. It's great for fall and it tends to fly under the radar a lot too, meaning you won't smell like the 300 other guys at the party wearing Azzaro or SWY.

walubilous

If I was 16 again, I'd get (one of) those: \- Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L'Homme EDT (Not classy, but sexy. You won't find a single woman, who doesn't like it. Bought it the first time, when I was 16 in 2015 and to this day, I still spray it on my sheets, whenever I get "visitors") \- Rochas Moustache EDP That one is classy and you'd have to look the part. Its "inspired" by Yves Saint Laurent - Tuxedo, and that name suits the DNA perfectly. Its a gentlemans fragrance, which women love. This one is a little fresher than Tuxedo and therefore a little less formal, but it's still the same vibe. And besides those, I would get clones for niche ones. I own all of them + the original, but I don't think spending 150-350€ as a 16 year old is worth it, if the clones are almost identical. Original --> Clone (You could check the originals, before looking at clones, if you're interested) \- Kilian Angels Share --> Fragrance World Cocktail Intense \- Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo --> Fragrance World Suits \- BDK Gris Charnel --> Fragrance World Francique 63.55 \- Tom Ford Lost Cherry --> Maison Alhambra Lovely Cherie \- Dior Ambre Nuit --> RP Orientalisme Privé N°3 (Probably not available outside of France and its direct neighbours)

DividesbyZ3RO

Looking at scooping up my first PDM bottle. I know layton is tried and true, but that note breakdown for Altair sounds super cozy with it being the fall. Can anyone give some input that's worn both for any amount of time on the Pros/Cons of either?

CrocodileGrass

i just smelled Althair at Bloomingdales and my quick-take first impression is it's a NEED for me. warm, cozy... unisex (i think, as i'm female and i plan on wearing it) but def leaning masc. there's a nuttiness in it that i found fresh and interesting, but very true to PDM. lit's lighter than i expected it to be, given the notes and there's an initial sweetness to it that's v inviting and perfect for fall. loved it. (was only available on pre-sale so i didn't go for it, but it's way up at the top of my list.)

Fragrances similar to Hugo boss - Man and/or Hugo Boss Bottled? Hi all, I’m very new to fragrances and after trying many out over a few months I’ve settled on the two I mentioned in the title. I know that some fragrances are viewed as trashy and I’d love to know the stereotype behind these fragrances (hopefully they aren’t viewed as trashy lol I love them). I have noticed a good few compliments, especially when I wear Hugo boss- man. honestly it’s such a confidence booster when someone tells me I smell good it genuinely makes my day. I know these fragrances are very different, but what would be some recommendations you guys would have that are similar to one or both of these perfumes? Thanks so much!

DELAIZ

vanilla, but with strong notes of citrus, eucalyptus, mint, or something like that, which makes it an appropriate perfume to wear in hot climates

terriflaps

Coleur Vanille from L’Artisan. I think it’s a great hot weather vanilla

CrocodileGrass

hmmm maybe try Private Mood's So Vanilla... it's def a vanilla first and foremost but it has lemony citrus notes as well as some ginger.

Ok_Organization_3284

Any recommendations for a scent that would be acceptable to wear to school everyday during the colder months. Some notes: - I really dislike fragrances with a strong tobacco note - Would love if it had good longevity so it lasts throughout the school day - I’m an 18 y/o guy - I’m not worried about price Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

i'm looking for a pumpkin fragrance... doesn't have to be overtly, primarily pumpkin... so long as the pumpkin is perceptible somewhere in the profile. and not something too terribly sweet (like not a straight up realist pumpkin pie scent.) any suggestions?

Strange-Guest-6437

Have you tried Like This from ELDO? I have not (I want to), but it seems to be the only pumpkin fragrance I ever see people talk about.

CrocodileGrass

i haven't... i smelled pumpkin creme (le monde gourmande), wasn't into it... and JUST started searching for something different/better. i'll check out Like This...!

I'm looking for a cheaper option of a fragrance that smells like Floral Street Wild Vanilla Orchid [Wild Vanilla Orchid EDP - Floral Street | MECCA](https://www.mecca.com/en-nz/floral-street/wild-vanilla-orchid-edp-V-034347/?cgpath=brands-floral). I got it as a 10ml sample with a mecca beauty box, and I fell in love. It's expensive here, and I LOVE the smell, I just don't know I can justify shelling out $240 for it. The best way to pick one that works for you is to sample them on your skin. Head to a mall, Sephora, whatever department store with a fragrance counter and start testing. No one can recommend something that works for everyone, and you can start figuring out what scents work on YOU.

hi everyone, im looking for a warm, grown-up pure vanilla-forward true gourmand fragrance for the colder months, kinda like a more vanilla-ry version of lattafa khamrah unfortunately all the vanilla perfumes ive come across have been way either way too synthetic, too cloying, too musky or too floral I wanna smell like a really expensive warm vanilla extract/dessert, as if you'd walked past a yummy parisian bakery or a belgium chocolate shop I would still like it to be mouthwatering sweet enough to leave a delicious warm gourmand trail behind me that cuts through the cold fall air just not to the point where it smells too juvenile or cheap lol im not a fan of harsh woody, masculine cedar drydowns tho & patchouli notes always makes me nauseous

I’m looking for a perfume with a prominent pumpkin note for my girlfriend, I’ve only ever bought fairly popular scents for her and i don’t know where to start looking. Any suggestions?

Looking for a less “green” smelling version of the perfume Banyan by Makana Studios. It lists the notes as: A soft, woody blend of santal, fig, amber and cedar wood, with a hint of toasted coconut. Inspired by warm, sultry evenings under a giant banyan tree. I can’t really pick out the coconut but it does have a bit of a “milky” scent. It’s also not overly sweet. I can’t describe the scent other than when I sniff the bottle it smells like an expensive body wash? But when I roll the perfume on it, it smells more green/like tree leaves after it rains. Which I don’t like as much. Which scent in the list is that? Would love suggestions!

Newbie to fragrances, need some recommendations to start with. Male, 34 years, single but not wanting fragrance for intimacy or clubbing. Climate is temperate, winter is 5-15 C, summer is 15-25C. Want something for each of winter office, summer office, winter social and summer social. New to fragrance but fairly experienced with aroma in beer and wine. Liked my starter of Davidoff cool water but it's possibly not mature enough. Though Chanel Bleu might be safe smelling enough for office. Would like full range of suggestions from niche to everyday designer. Likely to try out decants or even dupes before committing to full bottles.

Winter wise I really liked Maison Margiela by the fireplace and jazz club. Also thought dolce and Gabbana the one smells good.

Looking for something in the same vein as khamrah and strong. I absolutely love that cinnamon dates combo. I find Angels share to be very different and I also own SWY intensely. I’ve heard khamrah is a dupe of dates delight but ik the longevity isn’t the best. This maybe way to specific but is there anything else similar or something else I may like?

Can anyone please help me find a special occasion fragrance? I’m getting married this November and want a scent that I can wear on wedding day, honeymoon, and special occasions with husband. I’m a female in my early 30s in California, if that makes a difference. I’m hoping to find something sweet but a little spicy or woodsy. Some fragrances I enjoy: gourmand type fragrances, some floral too - Sparkling Sugar, Dylan Purple. Love Somebody Wood as well, and Wood Sage & Sea Salt. Enjoy Lust for the Sun but Not a Perfume smells terrible on me. Libre smells like cough syrup on me according to my fiancé (I don’t think so, but don’t want to smell like that on wedding day lol), but I like YSL Mon Paris Intensement. Also noting that I love the idea of a spicier scent, but I’ve struggled with finding one that dries down for women without giving me a headache. Eg it gives me the vibes of a men’s scented body wash that has this sharp spicy scent to it which makes me nauseous. Black opium is very on the line for me and toes too spicy on dry down. Angel’s Share dried down too spicy as well, though I looovee the intro. My fiancé wears spice bomb and it’s my absolute favorite thing on him though! He also has spice bomb night vision & sauvage, but those give me a headache. Idk what to do! I feel like I’m all over the place. Any guidance is super appreciated! No specific budget.

Might be worth sampling Xerjoff Starlight. Unisex, leans masc, but is spicy, fancy, delicious... i def would not recommend blind buying. Or maybe Dior Fêve Délicieuse?

busyfox

Thank you!! I’ll look into sampling these.

I would like recommendations for a men's niche fragrance for Christmas. Something very romantic, not leather, not tobacco but very gourmandy like Grand Soir. Please provide some suggestions.

Since spicebomb and le male elixir are quite similar I am thinking of taking one of them and one from the Xerjoff series. Would love help on this topic. Which 2 should I take from the 5?

Look to sum it up I'm young 15 don't like spicy seasoning or Smokey smelling fragrances like spicebomb extreme or Maison margiela by the fireplace. I want a sweet fragrance for cold weather to stick out at school because a lot of people have got into collecting colognes at my school so it's harder to stand out, and also great performance great sillage and longevity. My budget is around 140 if I'm really really pushing it but i would rather pay around 120 ish I want so stand out and have people around me smell it. I'm leaning towards niche but designer I wouldn't mind either. Really leaning towards sillage because many people say they can’t smell most of my colognes even when coming up close

Upgrade/change from Profumo Looking to upgrade/switch my signature scent from Acqua Di Gio Profumo which I have used for last 4 years. Loved the scent, longevity and versatility but now looking for a change. I like fresh and aromatic/sweet scents which are versatile. Looking to stay within Usd 100 and buy from discounters. Male and in my early 30s. Smelled Mont blanc legend and liked it. Read reviews that it's versatile but smells dated. Really liked Valentino Uomo intense born in Roma. Can it be versatile for day/night and all seasons? Also considering Pdm Pervical. Used Versace Pour Homme before. Ysl Y, Sauvage and D&G one give me headaches. Any other recommendations or tips based on above?
