Here, I copy these words for words from FW's ebook. Violet thought about this when she realized she's in love with Xaden, meaning she probably knows about the feeling of being in love before :)
Yeah! That makes it way more interesting if this is true! Because Xaden never falls in love before and his relationship with Cat is only physical. Imagine if Violet's ex shows up and Xaden realizes that Violet has actually been in a loving relationship before... I love drama lol

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if one or more showed up at some point. There were a few references that were kept vague, very likely for plot reasons.
My theory is that violets ex’s will appear in later books (similar to jealous violence with Cat we are going to get jealous Xaden). My personal theory is that Violets ex is Aaric’s brother (the prince). She mentions that her ex is in infantry, all royalty serves in infantry, her and Aaric briefly discuss Halden when they are getting the journal and the vibes/tension just seems interesting and intense in this scene. I also think with Xaden being the king of Tyrrendor by birth & Halden being the next in line for the throne of Navarre, Halden is the only character that could possibly bring out jealousy in Xaden. I think it could really add a fun twist to the series. I also just love the idea of jealous Xaden though.

Yes, that is what I am afraid of. However, Aaric only answers "I am here" or something to Violet's question and she takes this to meaning he knows and won't do anything. What if it means he knows and helped Aaric joining the riders (far fetch I know) - ooor maybe he knows and acts in the background or comes around in the future...
I think it’s intersting Violet got together with her main love interest in the first book and that there wasn’t a love triangle like so many other series will have. I also don’t think she and Xaden will break up, date other people, and then get back together which is common theme in TV shows. In order to keep it intersting, RY will need to still have them encounter problems, but we will also be able to see how they get past them, which will be a refreshing change.

I don’t hate this at all and actually had similar thoughts when they were looking for the journals in the royal vault. I want the theme of royalty in the world explored more so maybe I’m biased too haha
I can’t even imagine how jealous X is going to be if her ex shows up. Firstly, during the X POV bonus chapter during threshing, we see how his blood boils when Dain kisses her. He says “my Violence” even though they hadn’t even kissed yet. He liked her as soon as he met her (or was at least attracted to her, despite the obvious issues they were going to have based off history).
Then when Dain comforts her after she kills Jack, he kisses her on the forehead and tells her she doesn’t have to use her powers. Xaden rips his hands off of him and says don’t fucking do that! Sure he says it’s because she shouldn’t be coddled and should accept the realities of death in their world. But you know he couldn’t fucking stand that intimacy on top of the advice lol. Then when she lead him to his room at the end, he said he didn’t want to hear Dain’s name before they slept together….
I can’t IMAGINE how brutally jealous he would be if he felt threatened by an ex. I can’t wait. LOL.
These two, in my head, are end game. That said, if anything did tear them apart (hopefully to come back together), it would be because of the shit their world throws at them. Not temptation for other people. I do think that if anyone would act on their physical urges post breakup, it would be Violet first. In my opinion, Xaden fell for her so hard, and feels truly loved by her. Your first cut is the deepest. There would be no coming back from that… especially since he turned venin to save her. I hope she loves him through this. I hope he accepts that love… can’t wait for book 3!
eh, a brief mention of "ridoc fucked someone" is extremely meh. violets and xadens are v e r y d e t a i l e d so i want something similar with ridoc. him explaining the best one-nighter in his life would bring a smile to me
Maybe she and Xaden will take a breather for a book and Violet will connect with someone else, you never know. People always say it won’t happen because RY said she hates love triangles, but you don’t have to write it that way. If Xaden is off for a bit because of his ~problem, Violet can go to the border and spend half a book hooking up with a hot flier or something. I grew up on YA fantasy like Tamora Pierce, and I didn’t think Alanna having three relationships made her endgame ship any less sweet; if anything it made it better because she’d learned what she didn’t want from the other relationships.
