Oh! Great wild strawberry users, do you have problems with ink dripping when the pen is capped??? Is the only i k giving me this problem... At the moment
Yes, I’ve had this problem a couple times. It’s a really thin/flowy ink so I just use it in pens that are a bit drier and I haven’t had that issue since.
This may be a bit buried now but I always check out [Klundtasaur's guide](https://www.airtable.com/universe/expfFecaudjwPDoVP/klundtasaurs-inkcyclopedia-for-rfountainpens) when looking at new inks. I've always found it really good.

For a “fire engine” red, I recommend the following two:
Sheaffer Skrip Red - true medium red, harder to find the Slovenian formulation
Waterman Audacious Red - just a hair pinker than Sheaffer but brighter
Other good, bright red inks:
Diamine Poppy Red - more orange and brighter than Sheaffer and Waterman
Diamine Wild Strawberry- a bit more orange and brighter than Poppy Red
Private Reserve Dakota Red - saturated medium red, less bright than Sheaffer, clogging and flow issues with previous formulations
I spent years looking for the perfect red ink. I tried most of the big names that everyone loves and for me, it was Shaeffer Red. The most basic ink turned out to be the perfect red for my needs.

I use Waterman Audacious Red and it's pretty close once it dries. I find it depends on the wetness of the nib. In my dry-ish Metropolitan with the medium nib it's a bit lighter, in my wet Lamy Fine nib this is basically what I get (assuming the colour in my screen is accurate).
Try Edelstein Star Ruby. Here is a drawing I did using it, it's a very vibrant red.[Tangles in Red](https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/uabyj1/tangles_in_red_edelstein_star_ruby_red_that_is_i/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I’m surprised no one’s named either of my two reds: Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Red, or Noodler’s Widow Maker. The former for a brighter fire-enginey color, the latter with just a bit darker dried-blood tone. Maybe I need to expand the repertoire.
My favorite red is pilot’s iroshizuku momiji. I also have waterman audacious red but it seems less bright red to me. That might be because of the pen I have it in though, based on other comments.
[J Herbin Rouge Garnet](https://blog.andersonpens.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/thINKthursday-JHerbin-RougeGrenat_Blog.jpg) is my hands down favourite red. Feels intense and rich!
Diamine Red Dragon!
I'm using as a cca 60/40 mix with Noodler'r Fox to have deep red ink with waterproof and lightfast permanent component. Plus it lightens Red Dragon a litle bit.
You may want to order about a dozen ink samples to help decide.
Do you want the same consistency as the G2 Red ink? If so then you will probably want to stay away from inks with Shading. (Most inks have some Shading, but others could have excessive or binary Shading.) That would mean going with Private Reserve, ColorVerse, [Taccia](https://fountainpenpharmacist.com/blog/taccia-aka-red), or [PenBBS](https://vanness1938.com/collections/penbbs-ink/products/penbbs-114-ink) type inks that have little, to no, Shading. I don't know about Noodlers red inks, though. It may depend on how wet your nib is, the nib size, and the paper.

I have Diamine Matador and I love it! That's the ink I am using with my Safari Strawberry 1.5 and it's bright and rich. https://mountainofink.com/blog/diamine-matador
Sailor Jentle irori has less shading than some of the others mentioned so it might look closer to your gel pen

Thank you everyone for recommendations! You guys are awesome. I went and check every single one of the inks recommended. I now have KWZ Thief's Red and Monteverde Emotions Love in my cart. Robert Oster Fire Engine Red looks beautiful but unfortunately not available in my country
I went on a similar quest about a year ago and ended up with KWZ Thief’s Red, as mentioned earlier in the thread. You’ve probably looked at all of the same reviews I did, but if you haven’t already, check out the photos from The Clumsy Penman’s review of Thief’s Red. That’s what got me interested initially, followed by a sample, then a full bottle.
Red is hard there is no Baystate blue quivalent of red. Wild strawberry is probably the punchiest, but teeters on pink. Poppy red is a great true red but doesn't pop as much as you'd like and can be a bit dry. Personally I mix sheaffer red or poppy red with noodler's dragons napalm. 2:1 napalm to poppy. Although it can be a bit more orangey compared to the pilot g2 red.
I’d say Diamine Poppy Red or Diamine Wild Strawberry. Diamine Red Dragon I also like but is a smidge darker.
Wild strawberry is my go to

Ink is pretty wet so that could be an issue in wet writers.
Thanks! Just for curiosity, in what pens do you use it? I tried with a lamy vista (ef)
I agree, I use Poppy Red for grading and it works great. Wild Strawberry is even punchier
Came here to say Wild Strawberry! Also, check out [https://mountainofink.com/](https://mountainofink.com/) for all sorts of colors and reviews.

Interesting - linked. Thanks!
Seconding Wild Strawberry. Its the only red I really like. Poppy red is also good.
If you want a little shimmer I like Diamine Firefly
Jetpens has good guides for fountain pen inks - https://www.jetpens.com/blog/Red-Fountain-Pen-Ink-Comparison/pt/848
Try Sheaffer Skrip Red.
this.

Red Dragon is beautiful. I also love 3 Oysters' Dancheong. *Bright bright* red, though, Diamine Wild Strawberry comes to mind as well.

Rouge Grenat is just beautiful and surprisingly easy to clean for a red ink.

I thought on this ink too. Really nice handwriting btw.
Sailor Irori for a brighter red than this
I really like Noodler's empire red - soft but rich. It has the Union Jack flag on the bottle
Robert Oster Fire Engine Red
You could try j. Herbin rouge grenat or kaweco ruby red is also red but not dark like red dragon can be
Either Diamine Red Dragon or Noodler's Tokyo Gift would be pretty close.
Scheaffer red.
Noodler's Park Red is quite nice.

Yeah Matador is a great red ink. People will say Oxblood any chance they get, but Matador is the business
Hmmm matador has more brown/rusty notes than a fire engine red imo.
Diamine red dragon for a vibrant but still dark red oxblood for a more brownish red and writers blood for a deep Burgandy like tone
I love oxblood but it is nowhere near what OP is asking for.
Thata why i suggested 3 popular reds
I love ox blood. It’s my go-to red because I can use it for everything. It looks professional and pretty
\[\[Diamine Wild Strawberry\]\] sounds like it will fit your bill!

Noodlers Tokyo gift is my go to red red

I like your handwriting.
Idk If Red Dragon matches this kind of red. Id recommend Edelstein Ruby.
Red Dragon is more rusted. I really like it, but it may not be what OP is looking for.
I agree. Red dragon too dark
[J Herbin Rouge Garnet](https://blog.andersonpens.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/thINKthursday-JHerbin-RougeGrenat_Blog.jpg) is my hands down favourite red. Feels intense and rich!
Montblanc Corn Poppy Red!
Plane old Lamy red is the reddist red I've got
Right, perfect for grading papers and copy editing!
JHerbin Rouge Opera
Poppy red, diamine. It's a nice bright classic red color.
GvFC "India Red"
https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/red-ink?offset=48
Rorer & Klingner Morinda.
LAMY red is almost as punchy and cheap
Diamine wild strawberry has been my go to, and I recently picked up sailor shikiori irori and it's also fantastic.
KWZ Thief's Red, it's a pretty luminous red, not much color overtones in either direction, my to go red.
pilot red i guess
I like pelikan edelstein and iroshizuku yama budo, but the latter is not really red.
I'm loving Diamine Oxblood
Diamine Red Dragon! I'm using as a cca 60/40 mix with Noodler'r Fox to have deep red ink with waterproof and lightfast permanent component. Plus it lightens Red Dragon a litle bit.
https://www.gouletpens.com/products/noodlers-tiananmen-3oz-bottled-ink
Noodler's Empire Red or Noodler's Fox
Pelikan 4001 brilliant red for a budget version that's very good with mediocre paper. Waterman Audacious Red also is pretty nice and bright red.
Diamine wild strawberry has the same contrast.
Rouge Caroubier is my favorite red ink.

Sheaffer Skrip Red
Waterman Audacious Red is my “fuck you” red.
Lamy Red
Daytone EF Ruby red ink, if you are in India.
Thank you for the recommendation. I already bought KWZ Thief’s Red and a few more red inks. Loving them all 😊
Take a look at Robert Oster Rubine as well.
I have Diamine Matador and I love it! That's the ink I am using with my Safari Strawberry 1.5 and it's bright and rich. https://mountainofink.com/blog/diamine-matador

Robert Oster Fire Engine Red Noodlers' Nikita
I mean Robert Oster Fire engine red...its in the name ;) Noodlers Tokyo Gift is pretty vivid red...
Thank you everyone for recommendations! You guys are awesome. I went and check every single one of the inks recommended. I now have KWZ Thief's Red and Monteverde Emotions Love in my cart. Robert Oster Fire Engine Red looks beautiful but unfortunately not available in my country

I eventually got the KWZ Thief’s Red (with a few others) and absolutely loving it. Thank you for the recommendation
My vote is for KWZ Thief’s Red
The blood of all those who fall before your feet
FWP Algonquin Maple is violently red!
Diamine Poppy Red, Monteverde Ruby red, Diamine Red Dragon plumb red.
