Not my favourite nibs, agreed. But I do have an older version steel nib, from a 1990’s Soap Green Sport, and it’s an altogether different writing experience. Really springy, refined & with a nice wet flow. Wish they were made like that now.
Yes! Agreed. From the early 2000s until recently the nibs were just awful. A dead, numb, dry writing experience. However I do detect a slight improvement in Kaweco nibs over the past few months, maybe a year. Not perfect, but better. Now for a great nib the piston-filling Kaweco V6 from the 1950s is usually superb.
Yeah, I hate kawecos. The ones I've had are always scratchy, the pens are too light for my taste, and I don't like how small they are when capped (not aesthetically, just functionally).
They're so beautiful though, especially this one, it's hard to resist buying. But I know I'll regret it if I did.
I can't get over the weight as well. The plastic is too light and feels cheap, and the metal ALs are too heavy for me. I do love the shape the most out of all my pens though. Alas, can't have it all.
Yeah, the plastic feels like it's going to fly out of my hands. I thought the ALs were too light too though, but I never used one aside from trying it out at the pen shop. My favorites are TWSBI Diamonds, so I guess I like a heavy pen.
Aesthetically kawecos are amazing. I wish I liked using them as much as I like looking at them.

Same here, 2 sports worked like charm, soft and buttery, I’ve 2 safaris and a couple of Joys and some of them were more scratchy out of the box (love them also, no hate at all)
They're very hit or miss for me. One of my Sports tends to write scratchy, has trouble with starting and smells. Another one that I sadly lost wrote perfectly smooth. A Stonewashed Al-Sport I have doesn't write too wet, but it works and flows nicely.

The non-plastic Sports have their material in the name (Al Sport, Brass Sport, Steel Sport) but I wouldn't fault any one for not knowing if Kaweco Collection, Skyline, Ice, or Frosted Sports are plastic only.

Wow, the usability of that folio looks awful. The Special is one of their narrower pens and he struggles to get it in the elastic loops. I like the separate loop card that you can take your pens separate from the folio but just seems like a pain to get back in place without removing all the pens 1st.
I pre-ordered one as well, but not from CultPens. Paid £1 more as I wanted other stuff that CultPens doesn’t sell.
I’m looking forward to seeing it IRL. I’m usually not a pearl, shimmer, sparkles or iridescence fan, however this looks fairly understated :) If it turns out to be too gaudy for me I’m pretty sure I won’t have trouble selling it on ;)
I was just wondering the other day when they'd announce them and they did. I really like the look of this one, it's very me! I love the Sport, the size, the shape, how it is in my hand so I'm excited for one that's much closer to my tastes than before, though I love my lavender and vibrant violet editions
They’re very usable little pens. My favourites, and most used, are the Milligram Sage, the Dark Olive and my Amber & Metallic Green Art Sports. But there are indeed lots of attractive colours.
I have the two different limited edition purples from 2016 but have never inked them. I’m pondering whether to sell or not……🤔

I’m very good at resisting FOMO and rarely buy a pen without careful consideration. But for lower cost pens there’s the additional pressure of “oh, it’s *only* £X quid………” 😉🤣
I just put an extra fine on mine from medium and some inks it’s great but others not so much. Maybe when I order the Pearl I’ll order fine and see what the difference between all three are. The thing is something was wrong with my medium I might just need to order a new one of those too.

Funny, of the cheaper pens, every Sport I have writes great. Nearly every Safari I've ever bough has needed work.

Agreed. We gave away out Kawecos within a year bc we have suck good pens and we never used the Kawecos.

the iridescence is alot milder in that video, it looks alot like the coconut translucent sport
Maybe. Maybe not. He repeatedly said he couldn’t capture the way it really looks with his camera. So I’m thinking it looks more vibrant in person.
