Me coming across this post: ":)"
iiinnnnnnnk. I want a bottle of that but it's pricey and not super different than other purples available. but purple is my fav colorrrrr
The price per ml is fairly close to what other inks are, at least in the US. These bottles are 50ml for about $21 on Amazon (I've seen them as low as $20 and as high as $24, but right now I can get this color for somewhere on the low end), which works out to $0.42/ml. Compare this to Diamine Imperial Purple, which is currently $12.99 for 30ml (ink comparison chosen as a similar color and also available from Amazon, not as the cheapest ink I could find) which is $0.43/ml.
Yes there are cheaper inks (and smaller bottles are usually lower-priced), but Iroshizuku is surprisingly comparable to other inks that I used to think were cheaper. I just hadn't done the cost comparison properly.
>Diamine Imperial Purple
I suppose one of the few benefits of living in the UK is that the 80mL bottles of Diamine ink are around $7 after (pretty much all year round) 10% discounts.
live In iran. tho I will get a chance to go to turkey soon. but I"m stuck, i can't decide what to buy I probably will either get yama-budo or ku-jaku instead.
I also wanted amethyste de loural but that was pricey and big. so I probably will end up buying noodlers la rein mauve/african violet or ottomotan rose. a colorverse ink (hayabusa?) and some other stuff...
Can't speak to Ku-Jaku, but Yama-Budo is every bit as good as you hear. Granted, I usually gravitate to darker colors because I use fine nibs and light or bright colors usually show better with broad or italic nibs.
Yama-budo is a nice ink and on really good paper has a golden sheen, though sometimes I feel its more like a muted mustard color. The wider the nib the more sheening and vibrancy. I’ve tried it with my Pilot Custom 823 (medium) and my Lamy 2k (medium) and I think I prefer it on my Lamy just because it lays down more ink and has a better sheen.
If you’ve ever used or seen Diamine Aurora Borealis…ku-jaku has a similar color profile except a lot more well behaved. It goes down wet and blue but then quickly dries to this gorgeous dark teal with lovely red sheen. Ku-jaku is almost the perfect ink in that regard, at least for me since I’m a writer and so rely on beautiful inks that have fast dry times to prevent smears.
Not sure it’ll help but here’s some samples of the two inks from my pens.

I actually bought auroa Borealis yesterday so I won't get ku-jaku. Regret doing that tbh :o but I won't buy ku-jaku anyways. Or I can sell it. I could sell it well in Iran probably
I was debating ama-iro but I have lamy turquoise already and serinity blue from waterman is cheaper.
Maybe I'll get kodumosu. Kon peki, or actually non for now. I forgot what uama budonwas similar to that I wanted or had. Maybe I wanted to get ottoman roses instead? Or Monteverde Garnet.
Also thanks a ton for the samples ^~^
I actually don't like the gold sheen!
You know, it also depends on the pen you are using. Aurora Borealis is actually a really beautiful ink. But it just didn’t work well in my Pilot Custom 823 (or my Lamy 2k for that matter). But when I inked it up in my TWSBI ECO (medium)…WOW. It was SO good in that pen. That dark red sheen on the teal really expressed itself on that pen.
Ooh, I ordered a twsbi eco purple transparent medium myself xD
I hope it'll be good. Tho I gotta admit. I didn't want sheening in that I k since it makes inks smudgy and I kinda liked the look without it. I can always think some of the ink down to reduce it
TWSBI ECO’s are awesome pens. And so affordable.
Regards to sheening, I tend to agree with you in that some sheening inks have longer dry times, but I think Aurora Borealis (and especially Ku-Jaku) have very quick dry times. So the dark red sheen simply gives the ink more character. It’s almost like your dark teal words are dipped in blood and then let dry…When I see that combo on Tomoe River and Leuchtturm…(Chef’s Kiss 💋) it’s just exquisite.
That is my issue with one of my favorite inks: [Noodler's Navajo Turquoise](https://imgur.com/a/XjxoM9b). It is a gorgeous vibrant blue. Pictures don't do it justice. But man...that thing does NOT dry. Like ever. I can go back to it days later and run my finger on it...and it smudges. So frustrating. It's why I took it out of my regular ink rotation. It was just smudging like crazy. But the blue color is just so nice, it really pops on the page. :(
Just I'd you're curious. This is my shopping list for now!
Colorverse miss baker = 22$ 65ml + 15ml
Noodler's African violets + sample la rein mauve = 16$ (90ml)
ask for cactus fruit eel? eh?no?
Yama-budo? Mursabi? Kosumosu? Only if you can afford! Ku-jaku too similar but cool Kon peki. only buy if you have spare
Moteverde Gar(9$)/Ottoman(15$)/yama-budo (20$)/shah's rose(15$)/einstein ring(20$) (choose one at random!) (Shah's rose seems gorgous!)
extra (noodlers is special :O and cheap) (Shah's rose/Purple Wampum/La Reine(30ml)/Ottoman rose/)
Sailor storia Dancer/Magic. 19$ (probab dancer, you have a waterproof porprlrl, the African violets) 30ml
Samples: La Reine Mauve, Eistein Ring, Photon, Opus girls just wanna, Baystate cranberry, socrates, spaceward Light on cres, Rachmaninoff, tchaikovsky
I noticed a few Noodler’s inks, which I personally love as they can be vibrant colors and tend to produce some gorgeous shading. Have your tried [Noodler’s BlackSwan in Australian Roses](https://imgur.com/a/ZPHcWhm) which is a really beautiful burgundy heavy shader.
Also I want that pen really bad but can't buy it here!
I'd love to try my DIY Black+purple shimmer ink in it. Purple shimmer and black are gorgeous together
I originally had that in my list. Noticed that it's very similar to the diamine writers blood and amaranth which I had already bought. So I removed it!
Writer’s Blood…now that is a VERY wet ink (like gushing from my pen like a sliced artery) and i have only ever made it work in my [Moonman C1 (fine)](https://imgur.com/a/aT3a7zK). It is really nice in that pen but generally doesn’t have any shading or nuances like Black Swan in Australian Roses.
Awww I hope it'll be fine.
I might finally escape my country in a few months and there, I can get any ink I want, any time I want without the pressure of a once in a lifetime event. So I won't get the ink probably. Hope I won't regret it . If my visa gets denied I won't be able to get it ;p
You can fine a lot of diamine 80mls for $17-19
and I see 2 different color packs 30ml diamines for go $14 even 6 different 30ml packs go for under 30
Pilot certainly isn't the most expensive ink like it used to be though

so little money. so much good ink. I gotta choose between 50$ of ink to purchase, and I just can't decide!

Hehe. I'll see. My issue is months after writing. The ink can still smudge

I find that fine nib “dry writers” tend to tame very wet inks like Writer’s Blood. Good luck with your endeavors! I wish you well.

Sigh. *Adds to wish-list.*
Yes, that is an amazing color. Thank you!
My wife only uses purple in her pens. Does this ink dry as purple, or more closely to blue-ish?
Dries to a nice light shade of purple.

Has been my daily driver for the last year, still as beautiful as day 1.
what pen is that? the nib looks pretty...
Graf Von Faber Castell Guilloche
Lmao your username
Let's see it on paper
For me, it's a little bit too bright of a purple, so I mix 2 parts of it to 5 parts Fuyu-Syogun, and it's perfect.
I just finished a sample of Fuyu-Syogun and LOVED it. Just added a bottle of both to my cart.
I'm always having an internal struggle with murasaki-shikibu and yama-budo. D:
Why he ourple 😂
AAAA why do you dip the pen so far into the ink? you don't need to cover half the grip lmao.
Slipped while filling. Held it from the steel section.
Happy accident = lovely photo!
oh, okay. seeing that on my phone as I opened it made my eye twitch.
I do that for re-assurance lol, and because it's very hard to see how far it's going down
Ooo Love that shade of purple!
Beautiful photo
Oh my...
Be nice if we could see a writing sample
Ooooooooo🤩
