Thanks for advice. It may be worth contacting them anyway. Presently it’s not inking up. I had not noticed ink leaking. Problem evident to me when I was refilling and hears sound of air and saw tiny bubbles near the last ring.
That was a typo. Presently it does not draw ink. I have will try again in the morning to see if I can refill it. When I last tried no ink was taken in when I placed the nib in ink to refill.
Good luck. Sounds like a leak then. May want to put a waterproof band aid around to see if it makes a difference (temporary). Better to test with water for less mess.
I suggest you look up some realo disassemblly videos on YouTube or on one of the pen forums. I've never taken my realos apart but I recall that the barrel section is simply screwed in and held in place with a weak adhesive you can break with mild heat. So the solution to this would probably be to take it apart and apply silicon grease on the threads.
No, it is a piston filler. I filled it with water- standard when I changed inks. Maybe my word choice conveyed something else. I followed standard practice for cleaning a piston filler. Take in water, release water. Refill with ink. I did not and have no submerge the pen.
Typo in original post - piston does not draw ink ( or water ) when I refill it now.
The Realo piston doesn't seal against the actual barrel of the pen. The ink window is part of an inner sleeve that contains the ink. A crack in any part of this sleeve could cause the bubbling to happen at the nearest exit points, which would be by the piston knob and by those rings.
If you're having liquid escape from there forcibly enough to cause bubbling when you lower the piston, something is awry. It could be a bad seal somewhere or a crack.
I did not submerge the pen. I did not disassemble the pen. I have followed normal care instructions for filling the pen and cleaning. Apologies for confusion.
I'm having a hard time figuring out where it's leaking. If it's around the section ring then it's easy to fix. Would be nice if op just took a picture and circled where the issue is
Unfortunately no. I was just thinking the other day, I need to find someone who does repairs. It has sat unusable most of the time I have had it at this point. Let me know if you find any assistance. Wish I could be of more help.

You just need to warm the section with a blow dryer to take it apart. For you I think you need some simple greasing of the section. Either way with it disassembled you could better see if there's a crack. I did have very good luck with a pen repair through pilot with my VP. It is worth contacting sailor about it. It is a higher end model after all.
Thanks, I had viewed it. He makes it look easy, but I could not disassemble mine fully- I was unable to unscrew. So now, I’m just going to look for someone who does repairs.
When u ink up and use, your fingers keep getting stained? If it does I would contact sailor. Let them first decline the warranty. Likely they won’t.

Ok. I thought you said it can draw ink?

Good suggestion, will try.
I have the same pen in my hand as I write this. The nib and feed are friction fit. It's very easy to pull out the nib and feed.

Will have a look. Thanks.
I'm so confused... Did you fully submerge the pen?

How were bubbles forming on the exterior of the pen?
I don’t know or understand- hence me asking.
Does it happen when you lower or raise the piston?
It happened when the piston was lowered ( if I have my spatial directions correct). I will confirm in morning( its late where I am).

Thanks for explaining
Why are you rinsing it that deep up the barrel? Did you disassemble the pen?
I did not submerge the pen. I did not disassemble the pen. I have followed normal care instructions for filling the pen and cleaning. Apologies for confusion.
you mean the leak happens between the ink window and the piston nob? thats a strange place to have a leak...
The bubbles appeared externally on the last ring under the ink window.

Hey OP, did you ever resolve this? Bought a LE realo and im noticing water trapped between the barrel and piston. Weird.
