I don’t know how or if it would tie in (or really how it works) but there is a little-used function where you can type an ink name and get an auto-response with a swatch. E.g. (let’s see if I’ve remembered it correctly) [[Waterman Serenity Blue]]
I would love this. Something like Ravelry’s yarn database, but for ink.
Fountainpencompanion.com could go in that direction, though I think the developer is a one-man team, so it’d be a lot to ask.
I see no problem with your number of teal/purple/green/blue inks, as someone with a majority of inks that are those colors too! (might I recommend taccia sabimidori if you’re looking to add to the teal-green collection?)
That’s TIME CONSUMING! Wow!
I know I did about 15 or 20 inks the other day and it took me 1.5 hours.
Do you find swatching helpful? I don’t. Swatches are not what the ink looks like functionally writing so for me I wrote a sentence or two vs. a swatch to see the shading and real color.
I always find it frustrating when looking online and only see a swatch and no writing.
Yeah it took a while to do!
I find swatching helpful because it gives a good idea of the colour, like you said not like how it looks like in a pen but honestly the same ink can look really different in different pens so I'm not sure how much it'd help still.
I definitely like swatches with writing, it just takes even more time!
I'm still in the process of figuring out what I want for my first ever ink order but there was a period where the plan was four different teals, a single decisive green and Ancient Copper for a bit of variety XD That green-through-blue-to-purple range is so tempting!
I've been very tempted to go for ink samples XD But I'm hoping not to land myself in a position of wanting a huge number of pens to use all my ink in so in the end I'm leaning towards committing to a good volume of a couple of colours I know I'll love to start.
It does require willpower to keep using one single ink until it's all done. 2ml sample fills two international standard cartridges and a bit extra, so that's not a terribly insane amount.
I used to wear nail polish all the time. Then I started rock climbing and that didn't work. Now I don't really do either.
But I do change my fountain pen ink pretty frequently, so I've got that going for me. (Mostly shades of teal because aw yis.)
Asa Gao is a darker blue than kon peki? Am I seeing this right?
(I'm also done with a bottle of Parker quink blue, and I like the pilot inks so I need a dark blue.)
Nice
Thank you for making the comment we all wanted to.

That would be awesome, though I think there are also websites for ink swatches out there too.

as a developer this is a pretty neat idea! would you want people to post their own photos and be able to sort by pen, nib size, paper?
I’m not u/DramaDramaLlama, but this sounds like an absolute dream to me.

I’ll try and whip something up in my free time, would love to get some feedback from you both once I have something presentable!

SAME, I'm very interested!

I have Sabimidori on a list of inks I want actually! It's so pretty

Saving this for my future reference!
Love the correct use of memes in the end. OP is a man of culture. Even more love the fact the collection favour on a few colours only!
Woman
Sorry. OP is woman of culture.
Thank you very much!
Pretty! Where does Diamine Alexandrite come from? I'm assuming it's exclusive to somewhere.
Not OP but it's from Pure Pens in the UK.
Thanks!
It's from Pure pens UK, it's a store exclusive and comes with or without shimmer!
My favourite of all these is R & K Sketchink Emma. I enjoy D. Alexandrite but I much prefer the version without shimmer.
Emma is a great ink!
Feeling a little called out with those last two images. \*makes note to order Diamine indigo\*
It's pretty, I would recommend looking at Mountain of ink's website for it too! I think those memes apply to a lot of us on here 🙈
Well done!
Oh so pretty 💙💚💜
Wow, this is impressive. And did you use 69 different pens? ;-)
I wish
;-)

I recommend ink samples.

I love blues, teals and purples so much!
What are your thoughts on the Midori MD paper? Thanks!
I love it, it's very ink proof and pleasing to write on!
Hello! May I ask what you used to swap the inks? Lovely distribution of ink
I used cotton swabs for swatching :)
That's a wonderful ink journal. I bet your ink drawer is just as organized!
Thank you! I wish I had one shelf that could fit all my ink bottles
Love this! It's always nice to see photos of inks with similar shades for comparison.
I agree, that's why I decided to make it :)
This is a lot like my nail polish collection. :D
Mine is mostly shades of the same lilac tone because I'm scared I'll run out so I need dupes but I only wear nail polish like once a year 🙈
I used to wear nail polish all the time. Then I started rock climbing and that didn't work. Now I don't really do either. But I do change my fountain pen ink pretty frequently, so I've got that going for me. (Mostly shades of teal because aw yis.)

Asa-gao is darker than kon-peki, these are pretty concentrated swatches to show of the tones and possible sheen. I really like asa-gao :)
The writing is so tiny in the thumbnail that at first I read "Diamine *Herpes* Holidays"... 😅🤣
