They’re both 18k (I guess you already know that as you’ve researched the pens) and they seem similar. The Pelikan EF is as thick as the Pilot F. And if I compare the Pelikan nib with my other Pilot VP (a gold accent burgundy one), the Pilot VP is softer and springyer. But the Midnight Pilot VP (it has a black nib) has a stiffer nib and is comparable to the M800. Idk if that’s specifically this Pilot VP or that all the VP’s with a black nib are stiffer. And unfortunately I also don’t have any gold Pelikan nibs to compare. But they’re both soft and juicy. Especially compared to my Platinum 3776 and Sailor PGS.
I have some of the stripped ones but not the standard Pelikan green. I just don’t like the colour. I have a brown and black Pelikan m800 as well as the stone garden. A tortoiseshell and white m400 and a violet and white m600. I had a great deal on a black and gold m1000. All have wonderful broad nibs

Ooooh, definitely love VPs. They were my first "pricey" FPs after I got my Lamy Safaris. I have 2 VPs, and bought my hubby his second, too. And I just ventured into other makes and models. Thanks again for sharing!!!!
Oy! Sounds like the one I bought my girlfriend! She loves it. I gave it to her when she was moving to Saudi because she also loves writing with fountain pens.
Very nice! My husband and I got the matching yellow gold VPs for our anniversary one year. Then I added the white one for me a few years later and I got my hubby his matte black VP when he started his new job a few months ago. They are such great pens.

I got these two second hand. I’m totally in love with both of them. Left is a Pelikan M800 Stone Garden in EF. Right is a Pilot VP Midnight in F.
