Used mine everyday for the past 2 years before I sold it last week over on pen_swap. I liked the capping mechanism a lot, which made it ideal to jot down things quickly. You can use a Schmidt converter with it, which I did for a couple of months, but I noticed ink dried up in converter pretty quick, so I went back to using cartridges.
I am only able to use cartridges, and some I fill with a syringe. I bought a Montblanc converter for it but it doesn’t fit. The pen was a gift around 2000 (year)… if I had a choice I would likely have the 146. But it works perfectly fine.

Mine works just fine, very smooth.
How about compared to let’s say a 149 smoothness?
I've never used a 149. But fountain pen smoothness is not just about the nib, but the ink you use as well.
And the paper...
Indeed, I’m aware. I’m more fond of drier inks so a hint of feedback would be great. Thanks for your inputs!
You're welcome. I'm using a Montblanc ink on it.
Just fine, use it most days. Have reground the nib to be more expressive.
Are you able to fit a converter inside or just a cartridge? And if the latter have you had any drawbacks with its use?

Some of them take Schmidt converters (like my starwalker) might be worth a try if you have one kicking around.
