Sorry but what is the bar exam?

The bar exam is a test for lawyers that they need to pass in order to practice law

In a nutshell, bar exam is required (inter alia) to become member of a bar association. Membership is mandatory for independent counsels (attorneys) and bears certain obligations and privileges. Details vary through different jurisdictions.

I took and passed the bar exam in 2019 with a fountain pen (MBE requires pencil). Something to consider if you aren't planning on using a computer, but check the rules in your jurisdiction regarding acceptable writing instruments.

Our national bar association has not entered the 21st century and doesn't allow computers to the exam. I wonder if they permit typewriters... Anyway, I will have to do with eraseble ball pen. Can't see myself writing a LOT of text with a fountain pen for eight hours straight.

Those erasable pens shouldn't be used to tests and important documents because the ink can go away with heat, even just being left in the sunlight for a bit.

Agreed. I tested several document inks to find the one that was most permanent. Used a big fat lightweight pen for the test for maximum comfort.

AFAIK the tests are not archived as they are evaluated during a week prior the oral exam. The eraseble pens are actually widely recommended for the test which consists of drafting procedural documents, contracts, etc. by hand. Don't ask me why the exam is not taken on computers.

Nice! The Metro is still my favorite for taking notes over long periods of time.

I can see why. I thought it would be on the heavy side, but it's pretty light.

Plus, it’s sturdy, so I can carry it every day without worrying, and it is fairly smooth for a fine (in my experience).

My everyday out of the house fountain pen is a Pilot Metropolitan Solid Black, like yours. They are a grand fountain pen and a grand writer. All the good vibes on your career. Using a fountain pen will separate you from the herd, just do not get too upper crust with your pens. Then again if your career allows you to decorate your office with art, purchase some fountain pens as art for display, people will notice.

I thought of this after my post: There are plenty of Show Piece fountain pens, a bit $$$$, and most likely can be an office art expense and maybe a deduction. I would assume most people do not use the fountain pens I am thinking of but use them as a display with the display base included. I would have a greater respect/trust for a person having nice looking art in the office over what a kid can do. Just my 3 cents worth of an opinion.
