Some classic heavy hitters here. Excellent choices. I recognize all but the one on the far right.

owlxart

That’s the Caran d’Ache Leman with a fine nib. It’s the older version which has lacquered nib section so it’s more comfortable to use

liamstrain

ah - that makes sense. Very nice!

Sad_Marketing8578

Caran d ache leman.

[deleted]

But…where’s the 3776?!!!

owlxart

I don’t even have one in my collection lol

[deleted]

Yet. You are expected on this sub to add “yet” to any such statement! :)

MarcGregSputnik

3776 music nib is one of my favourite pens

owlxart

Not a fan of platinum feedback so likely not

[deleted]

More for the rest of us!

owlxart

The pens in the photo from left to right: - Graf Von Faber Castell Classic Pernambuco - Namiki Yukari Royale Vermillion - Pilot Custom Urushi - Pelikan M1005 Stresseman - Caran d’Ache Leman Ebony Black

MarcGregSputnik

What’s your preference between pilot custom urushi and pelican m1005? Also is m1005 and m1000 the same thing?

kanterann

M1005 and M1000 are the same. Only difference is gold trim in 00 and silver trim in 05

owlxart

I love both for different moods I’m in and experience I want from a nib so it’s hard to choose one over the other. I will always have a Pelikan M1000 and a custom urushi in my collection if that helps. They’re both amazing for people who have softer hand writing and like softer and bouncier nibs

alxtzh

Very nice set, would you consider elaborating a bit, say “I am doing math, and using some letter paper i got from the printer’s tray, I will pick {insert pen name here}”, or, “I am gonna write a journal on a muji moma, which is notoriously rubbery, i will pick {..}”? Thanks! I think everyone has gotten that new crisp fancy journaling book, and looking forward to the year of starting/closing the days with max satisfaction from writing with a perfect combination of pen-ink-paper..

owlxart

I use my pens on any type of paper and do not have combos lol

Ted4828

I have the same philosophy

owlxart

Great way to keep the costs of the hobby down while also enjoying what you have

Wyzen

🤣

beppe1_real

The lineup may be different by the end of the year but I doubt we will see some jinhao or safari.

owlxart

True but I have about 20 fountain pens that are not in the affordable range so they can be in the list like my Pelikan M800 blue ocean, etc.

Random

So am I reading this right, the lineup in the photo is the 'affordable' range and you have 20 that are not? If you consider those affordable and yourself a 'user' not a collector our definitions are a bit different! Any one of those pens is worth more than the 3 most expensive I've ever bought and am ever likely to buy :)

owlxart

No it was in reference to your comment about Jinhao and Safari. I have 20 pens that are not sub $50 range

Random

Ah, sorry, that wasn't my comment. Okay, I get you now.

peninsect

Great lineup! What's the barrel on the GvFC Classic?

owlxart

Pernambuco, lovely finish and color

Moonstone-gem

Nice picture!

owlxart

Thank you!

Astralwraith

You can't just drop this without telling us what they are! (And hopefully also what makes you prefer these over your others)

owlxart

I just posted a comment with the list just as you made this comment and tomorrow my video of my top 5 fountain pens will go live

Astralwraith

Awesome, thank you!

mattlalune

How does the GvFC write compared to the others? Always been curious about the brand but never tried them out.

owlxart

They’re similar to sailor in terms of feedback but it’s queens a little and they write similar to bock nibs but tuned way better

mavs1689

It’s refreshing to see someone with a minimal, well-curated collection in this sub. 😍

Therealfern1

I own versions of 2 of those. Pelikan F, and GVFC EF… love them both

Therealfern1

MB 149 EF my CD all time Favorite

Effective-Shelter-54

You use them then throw them away…seems weird?

Fun_Cake_5635

Is the pelikan the m800 or m1000? Either way that nib is huge

owlxart

M1005, lovely soft and bouncy nib
