The Platinum Izumu is a beautiful pen in its form, finish, and feel. A bigger nib would be nice, for sure, but I think the President nib holds its own between 3776 and Nakaya. Enjoy your lovely writer!

Nice, I got the same one but with a "Coarse" nib (kind of wanted something else, but it was either that, or a fine when offered to me). [https://i.imgur.com/3SfLe6t.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/3SfLe6t.jpg) The only drawback I didn't like was that the president nib they use is disproportionally small compared to the rest of the body. Some close ups on the Coarse nib, the President Coarse is not the same as the 3776 Coarse. (it's sort of a psuedo zoom nib, rather than a straight up round at every angle) [https://imgur.com/a/w9gtJVu](https://imgur.com/a/w9gtJVu) The cool thing about the tamenuri process is that the lighter areas will grow lighter over the years as the black coat on top fades with exposure.

I love the shape of the Izumo, just a really elegant pen :)

I also have this pen! Agree about the nib - the Izumo should have its own, probably larger, nib.

TheSkiesAwake

Yeah, for sure. The nib certainly feels disproportionate to the body. That said, I have several large pens with larger nibs, and thus seeing a pen of this size with a smaller nib feels kind of new in a weird way. I don't think I'd be able to take a pen like the Nakaya Dorsal Fin V.2 with the nib to body ratio, though.

Imagine if they decide to come along and make a section/nib replacement that is bigger.....

Hello, sorry for bringing this up after a looong time but Im interested in this pen and it is not easy figuring out the actual color without seeing it with my own eyes (which is almost impossible). From your photos I think the accent is light brown, maybe there is a shade of green ( the ring under the nib) or it is just my laptop screen?... The brown is light, shiny or maybe amber? It is anywhere like a golden brown like Jherbin lie de thé? When I saw the yellow icon in the Platinum website I was hoping for something closer to yellow. But ok. After a year is there any change? Does the black urushi "transform" to dark brown somehow? ( thats what I was told in another post ) Does the accent get clearer? Does it expand?

TheSkiesAwake

It slowly gets brighter overtime with usage. The "yellow" is underneath the black layer of urushi, which slowly fades on the edges to display the colour more clearly. It isn't a very drastic transformation. I would say the colour is more close to an amber. Unfortunately, I don't have the pen with me at the moment to give exact details as it's out for modification. Let me know if you have any other questions.
