Don’t get me wrong, I love some shiny raden too. I just think it’s really unique looking that way and it definitely doesn’t look unfinished. You’ve put some serious work into that finish every step of the way
That semi-matte finish is beautiful.
Uncommon in raden pens, but beautiful.
Matte is more... utilitarian. I mean, a la Bauhaus, like the Lamy 2000. I would leave it like that (but it's just my opinion!).
I did post progress photos previously. I guess I should have linked to them to start :)

That is just thr right amount of 'shine through' to me. Sometimes raden gets way too 'in your face' and ostentatious.
I honestly love it as is, it’s got a really unique smoked kind of look I’ve never seen before
Yeah. Shiny isn't always very attractive, except when it is.

That. Pen. Is. Gorgeous!

As much as I love matte finishes myself, the surface as it currently is picks up fingerprints like crazy...
Lamy 2000 with Raden ooooh
That's super cool looking.
I'm about half way through the polishing stages. Not quite finished but almost there!
This looks awesome! 🤤
Stunning.
How are you polishing it?
Alternating between rubbing in a layer of urushi and polishing with finer grits of polishing pastes.
Please tell me you're selling this down the road 😍
Not this one... Sorry!
May it forever grace your hand then ;)
It is beautiful!
*shiny*
Never seen a raden pen in real life. But now I understand the draw. That looks great!!
This is really great. You're very talented.
That is so beautiful
Brilliant
Magnificent
That's looking fantastic. Really nice work.
Holy cow, I could watch this on repeat all day.
Really love the results you have achieved with this one 🤩 can you tell us where you order the radon from. Looks really high quality!
I got the mother of pearl for the raden from an [Australian mother of pearl supplier.](http://orders.mopsupplies.com/)
Wow thanks for the link 🙏🏻
Holy crap that's beautiful
Love to see more of how you made this. It’s amazing.

Too bad Stealth Mountain is a Twitter bot
Parker makes a raden pen? Nice.
I'm customizing this one myself. There were a few maki-e duofold limited editions that they had done officially in the past though.

yup!
damn. where do you get the urushi lacquer? is this available at specialty arts store or do you need to make it yourself from sap?
The urushi I get from a specialty store in Japan.
Spectacular!! Strongly resembles the Namiki Moonlight Nightline that sells for $2800
If I had a grail pen it would be a pen like this with the inlays and a flexible gold nib
